Analyse

Set Details Although setting Spikes is always fine when predicting a check to switch in, Garbodor's other moves can also significantly damage a switch-in. Stomping Tantrum does good damage to Copperajah and Tyrantrum and lets Garbodor effectively answer Toxicroak; alternatively, Toxic is great to cripple Ground-types such as Mudsdale and Golurk. Pain Split helps Garbodor stick around longer to check threats like Passimian, but Corrosive Gas is useful for crippling item-reliant foes like Mudsdale and Escavalier. The EVs allow Garbodor to outrun Jolly Golurk and give it as much physical bulk as possible. Garbodor pairs best with wallbreakers like Tauros, Starmie, and Exploud that excel at forcing switches, helping get the most out of its Spikes. The former two as well as other cleaners like Silvally-Ghost greatly appreciate Spikes weakening their switch-ins and making it easier for them to sweep late-game. Garbodor appreciates insurance against Ground-types like Golurk and Mudsdale, so pair it with Water- and Grass-types like Mantine, Rotom-C, and Dhelmise, the latter of which can also provide entry hazard control that preserves Garbodor's Spikes. Special walls like Copperajah and Guzzlord make good defensive cores with Garbodor, giving it insurance against foes like Choice Specs Sylveon and Starmie, respectively.
