Analyse

Mudbray is a reliable Stealth Rock setter that doubles as a sturdy physical tank. Earthquake is the strongest and most consistent STAB move, hitting majority of the tier hard and threatening OHKOs on Pokemon like Glimmet, Mareanie, and Tinkatink. Stone Edge covers the Flying-types such as Vullaby and Wingull that would otherwise be immune to Earthquake. Close Combat provides coverage against foes that resist Mudbray's primary moves such as Toedscool and Grookey. Roar allows Mudbray to phaze out setup sweepers like Nasty Plot Vullaby. An Impish nature is preferred for extra physical durability, but an Adamant nature can be used for greater offensive presence. Tera Steel improves its matchup against Grass- and Ice-type attacks such as Giga Drain from Foongus and Toedscool and Triple Axel from Alolan Sandshrew, as well as Brave Bird from Vullaby. Tera Water helps Mudbray resist Water- and Ice-type attacks such as Hydro Pump and Surf from Chinchou and Wingull, respectively, while allowing Mudbray to survive Flare Blitz from Hisuian Growlithe in a pinch. Mudbray can switch into Elekid and Stunky and tank multiple hits while threatening an OHKO with Earthquake. Mudbray has to be wary of Vullaby, which aims to remove Mudbray's Eviolite with Knock Off and then either pivot out with U-turn or damage Mudbray with Brave Bird. Vullaby can do this knowing that it only gets 2HKOed by Stone Edge. Vullaby itself pairs seamlessly with Mudbray, as it can cover Grass-types like Grookey, Toedscool, Foongus, and Chespin that check Mudbray. In exchange, Mudbray handles Rock- and Steel-types like Tinkatink and Glimmet that cause Vullaby trouble. Foongus is another great partner that can take care of Water-types for Mudbray, and in return, Mudbray can handle Steel- and Poison-types that wall Foongus, including Tinkatink and Stunky. Alolan Diglett and Mudbray combine to become a formidable Ground-type spam core that pressures each others checks. Mudbray can tank hits and Alolan Diglett is fast and runs Life Orb for heavy damage output.
