Analysis

Earthquake threatens OHKOs on Pokemon such as Glimmet, Tinkatink, and Chinchou. Rock Blast threatens the Flying-types that otherwise would give Alolan Diglett trouble, notably Vullaby due to the interaction with Weak Armor. Sucker Punch helps Alolan Diglett pick off weakened foes that Speed tie or outspeed it, such as Wingull and Hisuian Growlithe. Iron Head lets Alolan Diglett almost always 2HKO Toedscool and Grookey, with the added flinch chance helping against bulky Pokemon like Mienfoo. Alternatively, Substitute can be used to scout for Terastallizations, switches, and Sucker Punch from Stunky and opposing Alolan Diglett. Alolan Diglett has many viable Tera types available to it: Tera Ground boosts the damage of Earthquake, KOing most neutral targets such as Mienfoo and Foongus after some chip damage, Tera Dark powers up Sucker Punch while giving Alolan Diglett a resistance to opposing Sucker Punch users like the aforementioned Stunky, and Tera Stellar provides a small boost to all of Alolan Diglett's attacks, which can allow it to pick up some surprise KOs. Alolan Diglett's high Speed and damage output make it a perfect fit on offensive structures. Pivot support is vital for Alolan Diglett to safely get onto the field, which can be provided by U-turn from Mienfoo and Vullaby and Volt Switch from Elekid and Chinchou. Teammates like Vullaby, Stunky, and Tinkatink can remove Eviolite from Pokemon that are usually able to take a hit from Alolan Diglett such as Mienfoo and Mudbray are appreciated.
