Maximum Defense investment gets the most out of Charm with the rest placed into HP. Tera Types Tera Dependency - Medium: Since this Flutter Mane is trying to defeat unexpected physical threats one-on-one, Terastallization is great at patching up some matchups that Charm can't on its own, even if it's not required for this set to work. Water: Tera Water gives Flutter Mane a very useful resistance to Steel, Ice, and Fire, giving it improved matchups against Zacian-C, Ting-Lu, Chien-Pao, and Chi-Yu. Fairy: Tera Fairy Further boosts Moonblast's impressive damage output while removing Flutter Mane's Ghost weakness. Electric: Tera Electric not only gives a useful Bullet Punch resistance against Scizor, but it also prevents common paralysis spreaders like opposing Flutter Mane, Archaludon, and Mimikyu from crippling Flutter Mane.

Flutter Mane's blistering Speed and Special Attack along with its powerful unresisted STAB combination exerts an oppressive amount of pressure on most teams, making it one of the premier offensive Pokemon in the format. Mystical Fire: Mystical Fire scorches the many Steel-types such as Zacian-C. It also heavily disrupts enemy special attackers. Power Gem: Power Gem gets a bit of extra damage against Fire-types like Ogerpon-H and Ho-Oh, which can be relevant when using Tera Stellar. Substitute: Calm Mind + Substitute is a classic duo that greatly assists Flutter Mane's setup attempts, allowing it to set up in-front of Thunder Wave users such as Arceus. Even without Calm Mind, it can save Flutter Mane from devastating uses of Thunder Wave from the likes of Archaludon. Taunt: Taunt is hugely disruptive against a variety of support Pokemon, such as Dondozo, Ting-Lu, and Glimmora. Other Options Stellar Tera Blast: With Tera Stellar, Tera Blast can be some good insurance against Pokemon with unpredictable Terastallization options, but the Special Attack drop doesn't gel well with Booster Energy. Draining Kiss: When using extremely bulky Flutter Mane variants, Draining Kiss can be paired with Calm Mind to keep it around much longer. However, Tera Fairy is highly recommended when using this, as Draining Kiss is otherwise very weak. In addition, Life Orb Mimikyu's Shadow Sneak has a fairly low chance of OHKOing, and Iron Bundle fails to KO with the combination of Hydro Pump and Freeze Dry. 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe with Timid: If using Focus Sash, this simple spread is best for maximizing Speed and power. Tera Types Tera Dependency - Low: While Flutter Mane benefits from Terastallization, it's generally flexible enough to go without it. Stellar: Flutter Mane boosting all of its offensive moves once gives it good offensive flexibility, especially since it retains the important immunity to Extreme Speed. Fairy: Tera Fairy makes Moonblast a potent sweeping move, while reducing damage against Chien-Pao's Sucker Punch and Mimikyu's Shadow Sneak. Water: Tera Water is handy for giving a resistance to Steel, Ice, and Fire, giving improved matchups against Scizor, Ting-Lu, Chien-Pao, and Chi-Yu. Electric: In addition to resisting Bullet Punch, Tera Electric protects Flutter Mane from the dreaded Thunder Wave and Glare! The defensive investment survives an Aqua Jet from a +2 Adamant Urshifu-R. 116 HP / 204 Def / 116 SpA / 4 SpD / 68 Spe with Modest: This EV spread only outspeeds up to the Jolly Urshifu formes but maximizes Flutter Mane's ability to take hits, such as surviving a Tera Dark Sucker Punch from an Adamant Urshifu-S after Stealth Rock damage, surviving Adamant Chien-Pao's Icicle Crash, and having a 93% chance to survive Surging Strikes from Adamant Urshifu-R. 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe with Timid: This is an alternate spread that can be used to maximize Flutter Mane's damage output. Tera Types Tera Dependency - Low: Flutter Mane already has a stunning type combination, which doesn't need much of a boost. However, the Tera type can be used to boost Flutter Mane's offensive capabilities even further. Fairy: Tera Fairy gives Flutter Mane a boost on Moonblast and helps it against Chien-Pao and Urshifu-S Sucker Punch. Stellar: Tera Stellar gives Flutter Mane a one-time nuke to secure knockouts and works especially well with Tera Blast. Electric: Tera Electric in conjunction with Thunderbolt can OHKO Dondozo and Primarina, as well as providing Flutter Mane with a paralysis immunity. Water: Tera Water is a defensive option that patches up Flutter Mane's Steel-type weakness against foes like Archaludon and Scizor, as well as resisting Urshifu-R's Surging Strikes.

It is possible to get free setup turns thanks to full paralysis, but be aware that this is more of an occasional bonus than a consistent strategy to rely on. Items Booster Energy: With the Speed increase from Booster Energy, it is nearly guaranteed that Flutter Mane can cripple something. Focus Sash: Focus Sash can be used with more offensive spreads, and is particularly strong against already boosted opponents. Bold is preferable to maximize bulk, but Timid is still viable to get the jump on other “slow” Flutter Mane and outrun Choice Scarf Urshifu. 4 HP / 108 Def / 140 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe with Timid: This spread allows Flutter Mane to be more offensively oriented while still maintaining some bulk, almost always surviving Adamant Chien-Pao's unboosted Sucker Punch. 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe with Timid: A full offensive spread can be used if opting for Focus Sash. Tera Types Tera Dependency - Low: Flutter Mane's high Speed and support options allow it to disrupt with ease. Terastallization is therefore only needed for specific matchups where maintaining momentum is important. Water: Tera Water resists Urshifu-R's Surging Strikes and Chien-Pao's Icicle Crash, and gains a Steel-type resistance for the Zacian-C and Scizor matchups.
