Glimmet Movesets & Competitive Sets

Glimmet is a natural choice for a dedicated lead because Toxic Debris severely limits the ways an opponent can effectively respond, creating more opportunities to set Spikes. Sludge Wave lets Glimmet have some form of direct damage, stopping Thwackey and Servine from setting up in front of it. Power Gem has limited utility as coverage but crucially OHKOes Fletchinder. Stealth Rock is a preferred option to have in cases where Glimmet can only set two layers of entry hazards. Memento is can be used to stop a slower Rapid Spin or Defog from succeeding. It also neutralizes opposing offenses and can create a free turn for a sweeper to set up. Focus Sash is preferred on builds that expect to always lead Glimmet, as it guarantees a turn to act. However, Eviolite is a solid option in cases where another offensive hazard setter like Krokorok or Gabite is accompanying Glimmet. Drakloak is an indispensable partner, as it can easily block Rapid Spin from Quaxwell, which is very commonly seen on most balance structures, and easily pivot into threats or wallbreak itself. Generally, any offensive Pokemon that appreciates entry hazards will be a good partner for Lead Glimmet, common offensive staples such as Pignite, Thwackey and Hisuian Sliggoo all fit comfortably next to it. Fast Choice Specs users like Frogadier and Girafarig do not fear Flame Body and can KO Fletchinder before it has the chance to use Defog. Explosive setup sweepers like Shell Smash Wartortle and Dragon Dance Fraxure can take great advantage of Memento and threaten to end the game quickly. Shed Skin Scraggy and Krokorok can both freely counter Hattrem without worrying about Nuzzle. Offensive Ground-types like Piloswine and Gabite are great to threaten opposing Poison-types that will otherwise absorb the Toxic Spikes from Toxic Debris.

This set runs Corrosion and bulk in order to have more long-term utility in balance and bulky team structures. With Corrosion, Toxic becomes one of Glimmet's most powerful tools to force progress, stopping it from being used as setup fodder and putting Steel- and Poison-type defensive pieces like Tinkatuff, Hisuian Sliggoo and Ivysaur on timers. Dusclops and RestTalk Drakloak are both oppressive partners that blanket check most physical attackers and spinblock Quaxwell while healing off any chip damage from Flip Turn and entry hazards that could wear them down long-term. A defensive Water-type like Quaxwell or Seadra is essential to check Piloswine. Offensive threats that are walled by Steel-types like Girafarig, Hisuian Sliggoo, and Duosion all greatly appreciate the timer that Corrosion Toxic forces on their checks. Offensive Thwackey and Servine both take great advantage of Poison-types like Ivysaur and Koffing being affected by Toxic. If Glimmet is not running Stealth Rock, Tinkatuff and Krokorok both make for solid Stealth Rock setters that can wear down foes with Knock Off. Tinkatuff, alongside Hisuian Sliggoo, additionally acts as a reliable defensive check to Psychic-type sweepers like Girafarig and Duosion that Glimmet creates openings for. Piloswine can also reliably set Stealth Rock or use Choice Band to easily break through a badly poisoned Quaxwell.
