Golett Movesets & Competitive Sets

It also provides good coverage as well as recovery, allowing Golett to stay healthy over the course of the match while weakening its switch-ins. STAB Earthquake hits Steel-, Rock-, and Poison-types like Magnemite, Onix, Alolan Grimer, and Croagunk hard. Stealth Rock wears down the enemy team with chip damage. Ice Punch allows Golett to hit Grass- and Flying-types like Snivy and Vullaby and is boosted by Iron Fist. Shadow Punch can be run over Ice Punch for its solid neutral coverage. It is boosted by STAB and Iron Fist, enabling Golett to 2HKO Slowpoke and bulky Frillish. Set Details 44 HP EVs and 196 Defense EVs increase Golett's physical bulk, allowing it to take hits from bigger threats in the tier at least once; Golett has a high chance of surviving bulky Pawniard's Knock Off. 164 Attack EVs and an Adamant nature allow Golett to hit as hard as possible without sacrificing too much bulk. They also enable it to OHKO Pawniard with Drain Punch, OHKO Chinchou with Earthquake, and 2HKO Ponyta with Earthquake. 76 Speed EVs let Golett reach 11 Speed, allowing it to outspeed 10 Speed Pokemon like Frillish, Hippopotas, 36 Speed EVs Snubbull, and uninvested Timburr. Eviolite increases Golett's bulk and survivability, and Iron Fist increases the power of Drain Punch, Ice Punch, and Shadow Punch. Usage Tips Golett's main role is to set up Stealth Rock and then attack whenever it can. Golett should be switched into Pokemon it beats, such as non-Shadow Ball Nasty Plot Croagunk, non-Pursuit Munchlax, and Onix. It should not be switched into powerful attacks from Pokemon like Rufflet and Doduo. Refrain from switching Golett in too much, as it has poor bulk and a pretty bad defensive typing. Except when switching into a resisted attack, Golett should be brought in via pivot support or after a teammate faints. Drain Punch is a good move for finishing off weakened threats due to the healing it provides. Set up Stealth Rock against Pokemon Golett checks like Onix and non-Pursuit Munchlax as well as support Pokemon like Spritzee. Be extremely careful when using Golett to spinblock, as both Staryu and Drilbur can beat it one-on-one. Only switch Golett in if you are sure that the foe will go for Rapid Spin; otherwise, Golett will be hit hard by Staryu's Scald or Hydro Pump or Drilbur's Earthquake. Team Options Dark-types like Pawniard, Alolan Grimer, and Vullaby can switch into Knock Off and deal with the Ghost-types that threaten Golett. Pawniard functions especially well due to it dissuading Defog, letting it protect Golett's entry hazards. Grass-types such as Snivy and Foongus can threaten Water-types like Staryu and Corphish that trouble Golett, while it is able to switch into the Poison-type moves that threaten them in return. Grass-types are also able to deter Drilbur from using Earthquake, allowing Golett to switch in more easily. Fighting-type Pokemon like Mienfoo and Timburr can handle the Dark-types that beat Golett. Fairy-types like Snubbull, Cottonee, and Spritzee can also deal with Dark-types, and Golett can check Poison-types like Croagunk that beat them. Said Fairy-types can also threaten Fighting-types like Mienfoo that typically carry Knock Off. Powerful Flying-types such as Rufflet and Doduo can threaten the Grass-types that beat Golett. It can switch into the Electric- and Rock-type moves that trouble them in return. Golett functions great with Sticky Web up, so setters like Surskit can come in handy. Pivots like Mienfoo, Magnemite, and Chinchou can bring in Golett safely with U-turn or Volt Switch.

Moves Golett has several good options with its great movepool. Drain Punch is a reliable source of damage and recovery that is boosted by Iron Fist. Earthquake provides a STAB move with a relatively high Base Power, hitting Rock-, Steel-, and Fire-types reliably. Stealth Rock is a useful move to have on any team. Finally, Ice Punch rounds off Golett's coverage by hitting Flying-, Grass-, Ground-, and Dragon-types, all while being boosted by Iron Fist. Set Details Golett's EVs and nature aim to maximize its bulk and Attack. 164 Attack EVs allow it to always OHKO certain Pokemon, such as Pawniard. With 44 HP and 196 Defense EVs, Golett has better chances of surviving attacks from some of the bigger physical threats in the tier. It has a high chance of surviving a Knock Off from Choice Scarf Pawniard, and it can take two Earthquakes from Drilbur and 2HKO in return. To round off the EVs, 76 Speed is used to outspeed other 10 Speed Pokemon, such as Porygon. Eviolite increases both of Golett's defenses and dramatically increases its overall bulk. Iron Fist increases the power of Golett's coverage moves, Drain Punch and Ice Punch. Usage Tips When using Golett, there are a few things to keep in mind. Drain Punch is always the main move to use against most targets, as it provides good coverage, as well as recovery. When in doubt, Earthquake is Golett's largest source of damage. Always resort to that as a last option. If your team doesn't already have a Pokemon running Stealth Rock, run it; it's amazingly useful. Set up Stealth Rock against support Pokemon such as Spritzee or Pokemon that Golett can tank hits from, such as Fire- and Electric-types. Team Options Several Pokemon complement Golett well. Normal-types are immune to Ghost-type moves, so Bunnelby makes a decent teammate. As Golett blocks Rapid Spin, the only other means of removing Stealth Rock is Defog, which Pawniard would love to have hit it, so together they form a great entry hazards removal blocking duo. Any Dark-types that can tank a Knock Off and deal with Ghost-types, including Houndour, Scraggy, and Vullaby, help out Golett with its weakness. Vullaby and Houndour can also beat Grass-types that can threaten Golett. Dark-types also threaten Slowpoke, which can be a problem for Golett. Grass-types such as Foongus and Bellsprout help beat Golett's weakness to Water-types. Pokemon that can deal with Fighting-types well, such as Snubbull, Spritzee, and Trubbish, can aid in beating them for Golett. Additionally, Spritzee provides Wish support for Golett, while Trubbish provides hazard support with Spikes. Lastly, Golett works very well on Sticky Web teams, so either Surskit or Spinarak would make a good team option.

This is Golett's best and only set. Golett makes an excellent choice for teams that are looking for an offensive entry hazard setter, with several useful resistances, that can maintain offensive pressure. Thanks to its great typing, Golett has little trouble setting up Stealth Rock on many common Pokemon in Little Cup, including Dwebble, Mienfoo, and Porygon (try not to switch into a Shadow Ball or Ice Beam from the latter). After setting up, Golett also doesn't become dead weight. Thanks to its handy ability and very solid movepool, it can be an extremely potent wallbreaker. Common walls such as Lileep, Porygon, and Foongus all face a scary 88% chance of being 2HKOed by the appropriate super effective move after Stealth Rock. Earthquake and Stealth Rock are two obvious choices, being two of the best moves in the game. Drain Punch is a very useful coverage move and hits rather hard when fired off of a mighty 18 Attack and with an Iron Fist boost. It also provides a semi-reliable source of recovery, giving Golett a tool against Ferroseed and Porygon. Ice Punch rounds off Golett's coverage nicely, hitting Grass- and Flying-types for super effective damage. The EV spread is fairly straightforward. Max Attack with an Adamant nature is necessary to grab those important 2HKOs mentioned earlier. The EV investment allows Golett to hit 11 Speed, just enough to outspeed minimum Speed Magnemite and Porygon. The rest of the EVs are dumped into Golett's decent bulk, giving Golett reasonable 23/19/16 defenses with Eviolite. As for good teammates, offensive Pokemon that appreciate entry hazard support and the resistances Golett provides are generally the way to go. Cranidos is a very good choice, as it enjoys Stealth Rock on the field as well as being paired with a strong switch-in to Mienfoo. Vullaby also is a good choice, as it too appreciates entry hazards as well as partners with resistances to its Electric- and Rock-type weaknesses. Foongus is a good defensive partner, dealing with the Grass- and Water-types that commonly switch into Golett with little issue.
