Jirachi Movesets & Competitive Sets

It is also helpful for playing mind games with Mega Medicham and Hawlucha, which risk crashing and taking 50% recoil if they attack into it with High Jump Kick. Iron Head sports a 60% flinch rate after the boost from Serene Grace and a solid Base Power after the STAB boost, allowing Jirachi to pose a threat to the aforementioned Pokemon that it checks and meaning Tyranitar isn't able to Pursuit trap it with a modicum of consistency. U-turn allows Jirachi to both escape Magnezone's attempts to trap it and grab momentum versus Pokemon that it force out, benefiting from Jirachi's minimally invested Speed stat to help teammates switch in safely when the opposing player opts to not switch out. This move works well alongside Wish to help heal up weakened partners like Heatran when they aren't healthy enough to switch in safely. Body Slam has excellent synergy with Iron Head, having a 60% paralysis rate due to Serene Grace, allowing Jirachi to cripple common switch-ins like Heatran, Kartana, and Landorus-T, pressuring Volcarona, Garchomp, and Hawlucha that try to set up on Jirachi, and reducing the action rate of anything that is slower after the Speed drop to 30% on the turns when Jirachi uses Iron Head. This has particular utility on more defensively inclined teams that aren’t as reliant on momentum as well as on teams that aim to take advantage of paralysis with Pokemon like Mega Heracross. Set Details The listed EVs along with a Careful nature optimize Jirachi's special bulk, helping it check Pokemon like Kyurem-B, Magearna, and Tapu Lele as consistently as possible and allow Jirachi to move before Timid Magearna as well as Modest Heatran. Leftovers is the item of choice, helping Jirachi check a number of Pokemon more consistently by restoring a little HP every turn. Serene Grace increases the rates of Iron Head and Body Slam's secondary effects. Usage Tips Use Wish regularly to ensure Jirachi is as healthy as is reasonably possible to ensure that it can repeatedly check Pokemon like Kyurem-B consistently throughout the match. While it is usually advised to use Protect when healing Jirachi with its own Wish, be mindful that always using Protect when healing with Wish can be easily punished by your opponent, who can use it to set up entry hazards, boost their Pokemon's stats, or generate a free switch into a weakened Pokemon that can't otherwise get onto the field safely; thus, it is important to try and mix this up if you can by either attacking or doubling on an expected switch or by taking advantage of paraflinching to generate free turns. Speaking of Protect, don't be afraid to use it if it is unlikely that Jirachi will survive the next hit without recovery from Leftovers or Grassy Terrain, but once again make sure to always weigh up the risks of using it when you are in a poor position, as it can create free opportunities for a wary opponent just as much as it can save Jirachi's skin; don't forget that it has a wide range of utilities beyond Wish and turn-by-turn recovery, notably including stalling for poison damage and scouting for both coverage and Z-Moves. Team Options Jirachi fits best onto balanced and stall teams, which need Pokemon like Tapu Lele and Kyurem-B kept in check. Reasonably bulky Pokemon that lack recovery or are otherwise easily worn down, such as Heatran, Landorus-T, Kyurem-B, and Tapu Fini hugely appreciate Wish support on more balanced builds. Similarly, slow Pokemon that depend on being healthy to switch into something, take a second attack, and heal up, such as Chansey, Clefable, Quagsire, and Mega Sableye, make for excellent partners, as Jirachi can help take pressure off of them to recover off their own damage. Users of Magic Bounce or Defog are useful to reduce the pressure Spikes places onto Jirachi to use Wish repeatedly, making Mega Sableye, Zapdos, and Gliscor excellent partners. Pokemon that appreciate Pokemon like Heatran and Choice Scarf Landorus-T being lured out and paralyzed, including Tapu Bulu, Calm Mind Clefable, Tapu Koko, and Mega Heracross greatly appreciate the utility that Body Slam Jirachi brings to the table. Pokemon that can switch into Fire- or Ground-type moves, such as Toxapex, Alomomola, Gliscor, Landorus-T, and Tyranitar, help relieve the pressure that said attacks put onto Jirachi. Similarly, responses to Ash-Greninja, Blacephalon, and other Dark- or Ghost-types, such as Weavile, Chansey, Mega Sableye, and the aforementioned Toxapex, are useful partners.

Moves U-turn allows Jirachi to keep up momentum and safely pivot out of unfavorable matchups against the likes of Heatran, Landorus-T, and Gliscor, while also being the best option against foes that are weak to it such as Mega Alakazam and Ash-Greninja. It also lets teammates safely come onto the field when Jirachi forces a switch. Healing Wish is a useful support move that completely heals one of Jirachi's offensive teammates, giving them a second chance to set up and sweep. It can also be used to heal a teammate that’s needed to check an offensive threat. Fire Punch lets Jirachi deal super effective damage to Steel-types that would otherwise completely wall it such as Ferrothorn and Mega Scizor. Trick is an option that allows Jirachi to cripple common defensive switch-ins such as Toxapex and Celesteela, which improves its matchup against balance teams; however, Fire Punch is usually preferred. Ice Punch can be used to hit Ground-types such as Landorus-T, Garchomp, and Gliscor that give Jirachi trouble. Set Details Choice Scarf lets Jirachi outspeed a number of naturally fast Pokemon such as Mega Alakazam, Greninja, and Tapu Koko, as well as opposing Choice Scarf users such as Landorus-T and Tapu Lele. Usage Tips Jirachi should be switched into predicted resisted attacks such as Psychic from Mega Alakazam and Tapu Lele and Moonblast from Mega Diancie. However, be wary of coverage moves such as Mega Alakazam's Shadow Ball, Choice Specs Tapu Lele's Hidden Power Fire, and Mega Diancie's Earth Power, as they leave Jirachi severely weakened and unable to switch in afterwards. It should also be used to heal a teammate that's necessary in checking an offensive threat. Fire Punch should only be used against Steel-types if necessary, as this move is otherwise weak and can lose momentum by letting in threatening foes such as Ash-Greninja, Heatran, and Garchomp. For these reasons, it's often preferred to pivot with U-turn into a wallbreaker that fares better against Steel-types. Trick should be used to cripple defensive switch-ins by hindering their ability to check other offensive threats, but it should only be used once Jirachi's increased Speed is no longer needed. Using Healing Wish immediately after Trick can be a smart way to bring a teammate in safely. Team Options Thanks to its natural bulk and good defensive typing, as well as its ability to gain momentum, Jirachi is very useful to offensively oriented teams. Wallbreakers that can be brought in through U-turn such as Ash-Greninja, Garchomp, and Mega Mawile make good teammates. The former two can also deal with Heatran, the most common Jirachi counter. Likewise, Pokemon that can also use U-turn or Volt Switch such as Tornadus-T, Tapu Koko, and Rotom-W complete a VoltTurn core with Jirachi. Pokemon that can punch holes early-game and then proceed to sweep late-game such as Mega Mawile, Mega Heracross, and Mega Charizard X all appreciate Jirachi's Healing Wish support. The latter two can also take advantage of bulky Steel-types that switch into Jirachi. Tangrowth forms a solid core with Jirachi, switching into Ash-Greninja and Garchomp for it, while Jirachi is able to take on strong special attackers such as Tapu Lele and Magearna as well as mixed attackers such as Kyurem-B that give Tangrowth trouble. Jirachi is walled by bulky Water- and Ground-types, so Pokemon that can take advantage of them such as Serperior, Tapu Bulu, and Kyurem-B also make good teammates.

Moves Stealth Rock allows Jirachi to support its team by setting up entry hazards, which it can set up consistently thanks to its good typing and bulk. Iron Head is an extremely useful STAB attack, as it hits Fairy-types super effectively and has a whopping 60% chance to make slower foes flinch. U-turn allows Jirachi to generate momentum as well as pivot out of switch-ins that would otherwise trouble it, such as Landorus-T and Heatran. Healing Wish is an extremely useful support move that allows Jirachi to sacrifice itself in order to fully heal a teammate, which can be useful for helping a teammate sweep late-game. Body Slam and Thunder Wave are both options over Healing Wish, as they can provide Jirachi with a way to support its team in terms of speed control. Wish can be run as an alternative to Healing Wish but isn't preferred due to its inability to heal status or generate momentum as well. Fire Punch is also an option to hit Steel-types like Ferrothorn and Celesteela super effectively, but it also isn't usually preferred due to the greater utility of Jirachi's other attacks. Set Details Near-maximum investment in HP alongside heavy investment in Special Defense gives Jirachi high special bulk, allowing it to check the likes of Tapu Lele, Mega Diancie, and Magearna. The investment in Speed allows Jirachi to most notably outspeed Timid Magearna and Adamant Tapu Bulu to hit them with Iron Head while also outpacing the likes of Modest Heatran and Magnezone, which it can then pivot out of. Leftovers provides Jirachi with valuable passive recovery at the end of each turn and also allows it to negate burn damage if need be. Serene Grace is Jirachi's only possible ability, and provides it with a useful 60% flinch chance on Iron Head. Usage Tips This set's main function is to support teammates that appreciate either Healing Wish or Stealth Rock support. Due to the nature of this set, Jirachi should almost always aim to set up Stealth Rock when sent out. Clefable, Tapu Lele, and Magearna are all good examples of Pokemon Jirachi checks; thus, it should try to switch into and set up Stealth Rock against them. Jirachi's slow U-turn is one of this set's biggest perks, and it can be used to generate momentum on predicted switches into threats that check Jirachi, such as Landorus-T and Rotom-W, or when Jirachi wishes to tank a hit and bring in a frailer teammate afterward. Because Healing Wish KOes Jirachi, the move shouldn't be used prematurely and should only be used once Jirachi is low on HP, as using Healing Wish right away would be a bit of a waste of a rather tanky Pokemon. Healing Wish allows a teammate of Jirachi that can sweep late-game, such as Mega Charizard X or Mega Pinsir, punch holes early-game and proceed to clean up later once its health has been restored. Iron Head should mainly be used against threats that take heavy damage from the move that could potentially pose a threat to the rest of Jirachi's team, such as Tyranitar and Tapu Bulu. Team Options This set is best for primarily offensive teams, as it provides fantastic support in the forms of Healing Wish, entry hazards, and free turns provided by Jirachi's slow U-turn. Powerful setup sweepers that are capable of cleaning up late-game such as Landorus-T, Mega Pinsir, and Volcarona all appreciate the Healing Wish support Jirachi can provide them with, as it allows these threats to punch holes early-game and restore any damage or status ailments inflicted to sweep later on. Powerful wallbreakers such as Greninja, Tapu Lele, Kyurem-B, and Tapu Koko also make good teammates, as they appreciate Jirachi's ability to bring them in safely with its slow U-turn. Jirachi generally has great synergy with Rotom-W, which can form a VoltTurn core with it thanks to its access to Volt Switch as well as check most Fire-, Dark-, and Ground-types. Jirachi baits in Ground-types like Landorus-T, Garchomp, and Gliscor, so answers to these such as Ash-Greninja, Tangrowth, and Rotom-W are required. Jirachi also invites in Ash-Greninja, so it should be paired with Pokemon like Magearna and Tapu Fini to take care of it.

Moves Iron Head is Jirachi's method of stalling out its foes, relying on the 60% chance to flinch as a way of denying them the chance to threaten Jirachi or heal up. Toxic takes advantage of this by incrementally damaging its victim, allowing Jirachi to slowly wear down its targets and notably cripple Pokemon that would normally have little issue switching into Jirachi such as Rotom-W, Landorus-T, Hippowdon, and Garchomp. Substitute gives Jirachi a buffer against attacks and status and another way to stall out opposing Pokemon. Fire Punch provides coverage on Steel-types such as Scizor and Ferrothorn, which are immune to Toxic and resist Iron Head, preventing Jirachi from wearing them down over time. Set Details The HP investment allows Jirachi to create 101 HP Substitutes, preventing them from being broken by Chansey's Seismic Toss. The Speed investment allows Jirachi to outrun positive-natured base 80s, such as Mamoswine and Mega Altaria. The remaining EVs are placed into Attack, allowing Jirachi to 2HKO defensive Mega Scizor and Excadrill with Fire Punch while also giving Iron Head a little bit more power behind it. Usage Tips Using Toxic early on allows Jirachi to status its switch-ins as soon as possible and wear them out. After Jirachi has poisoned its switch-in, you can set up a Substitute on a predicted switch and begin making the switch-in flinch. The damage from Iron Head and Toxic poison will add up quickly and will allow Jirachi to break down its check while protecting itself from damage with flinches and the Substitute. Try to use Substitute sparingly when Jirachi is needed to check a specfic threat, as Jirachi will find itself quickly losing HP. Team Options This set functions as a Fairy check, and as a result the likes of Dragonite, Kyurem-B, Latios, and Mega Lopunny will appreciate Jirachi's help. Landorus-T and Gliscor are able to switch into Excadrill and opposing Landorus-T. Of special note is Rocky Helmet Garchomp, as it is able to heavily damage Jirachi through Rough Skin's and Rocky Helmet's residual damage, meaning that it can KO Jirachi through its own Iron Heads. Faster Water-types, such as Keldeo and Starmie, as well as Slowbro and Rotom-W if they are able to break through Iron Head's flinch chance, are able to force Jirachi out. Mega Venusaur, Latios, and Latias are able to deal with all of them. Hippowdon is a great stop to Bisharp and Mega Charizard X, which are huge threats to Jirachi. Status is a major issue for this set, as a burn prevents Jirachi from healing with Leftovers and paralysis prevents it from making its targets flinch, so cleric support from Clefable or Chansey is a huge help.

Moves Iron Head is the move Jirachi will be using most of the time, due to its power and flinch chance. U-turn gives Jirachi a way of retaining momentum on predicted switch-ins, allowing it to get off damage and switch into a counter. Fire Punch lets it break past Steel-types such as Mega Scizor, Skarmory, and Ferrothorn. Heart Stamp gives Jirachi a way of beating Keldeo, Mega Charizard Y, and Raikou and deals more damage to Mega Venusaur, Mega Lopunny, and Mega Manectric. Healing Wish lets Jirachi heal its teammates to full health at the cost of its own life, which gives Jirachi something to do when it otherwise wouldn't be helpful. Trick allows Jirachi to punish some of its defensive switch-ins, locking them into a single move with a Choice Scarf and stealing their item. Set Details Maximum Speed EVs, when paired with a Choice Scarf and a Jolly nature, allow Jirachi to outrun every unboosted Pokemon in the metagame, Speed tie with other base 100s at +1, and outrun slower Choice Scarf users such as Kyurem-B and Landorus-T. The Attack investment maximizes Jirachi's offensive potential. Usage Tips Choice Scarf Jirachi is used as a revenge killer, being able to outrun and take out Pokemon weak to its STAB attacks. Thanks to its typing and natural bulk, it's able to switch into Latios, Latias, Mega Gardevoir, and Mega Diancie and eliminate them with Iron Head. Jirachi can use U-turn effectively in order to bait out its counters and allow its teammates to deal with them. Use U-turn or a coverage move when you predict your opponent to switch out, hitting the target with a coverage move when appropriate and pivoting out when not. If your opponent is using Rocky Helmet Garchomp to check Jirachi, it would be best to switch out directly rather than U-turn out, as the residual damage from Garchomp's Rocky Helmet and Rough Skin will wear down Jirachi very quickly. Healing Wish is generally more useful in situations where Jirachi is not helpful or where recovering another teammate is more useful than keeping Jirachi around, such as a wallbreaker in a match against a stall team. Team Options Healing Wish is a huge boon for most sweepers and wallbreakers, allowing them the possibility of a second attempt at their job if they get statused or heavily damaged early in a match. As a result, Jirachi pairs up nicely with a ton of offensive Pokemon. Pokemon that can deal with foes that resist Steel are extremely helpful, as their removal means that Jirachi can be much more threatening. Steel-types can be dealt with by a Pokemon such as Mega Charizard X, Mega Charizard Y, or Garchomp; Water-types are vulnerable to Pokemon such as Serperior and Thundurus; Fire types can be removed by Keldeo or Gyarados. Ground-types are also a major issue for Jirachi, so teammates that can deal with them are a must. Azumarill, Keldeo, and Manaphy are great partners, as they also appreciate Jirachi's ability to switch into Latios and Latias. Jirachi is unable to break through defensive cores on its own, so partners that can weaken those cores are a necessity. Mega Gardevoir can put huge holes into defensive teams while crippling both its and Jirachi's checks with Will-O-Wisp. Manaphy is another option, as it can easily break through defensive cores with Tail Glow-boosted attacks. Other wallbreakers like Kyurem-B and Mega Pinsir make for good teammates as well, as they are both able to heavily pressure Ground- and Electric-types that Jirachi struggles with. Dark-types, such as Bisharp and Mega Gyarados, can prove threatening if Jirachi is locked into the wrong move. Having a teammate that can take them out, such as Breloom, can be extremely helpful. Entry hazard support helps Jirachi out a lot, making up for its average attacking power. Landorus-T can set up Stealth Rock and forms a U-turn core with Jirachi in order to help it break down its counters. Klefki is another option, being able to set up Spikes and paralyze Pokemon to allow Jirachi to immobilize them more effectively.

Moves Iron Head is Jirachi's main attacking move and is used to chip away at the Pokemon Jirachi walls. Additionally, thanks to Serene Grace, Iron Head has a 60% flinch chance, which is beneficial in Jirachi's matchup against slower Pokemon such as Clefable. Stealth Rock is a vital support move to have on every team, and Jirachi is an above-average setter of it thanks to its ability to take on the tier's most common Defogger, Latios. U-turn allows Jirachi to generate momentum for its team on predicted checks switching in while also dealing chip damage. Healing Wish is a fantastic support move that allows Jirachi to restore the HP of and cure any status condition on a teammate at the expense of Jirachi fainting. Toxic can be used over Healing Wish in order to cripple certain Pokemon that typically switch into Jirachi such as Landorus-T, Rotom-W, and Slowbro. Body Slam is another alternative to Healing Wish and gives Jirachi a 60% chance to paralyze several other Pokemon that check it such as Heatran, Ferrothorn, and Excadrill. After its foes are paralyzed, Jirachi can attempt to paraflinch them to death with Iron Head. Body Slam is typically preferred over Thunder Wave for its ability to paralyze Ground-types and deal damage as well. Set Details 32 Speed EVs are invested so that Jirachi can outpace Jolly Tyranitar. Various other more team-dependent Speed benchmarks may be used. For example, 80 Speed EVs are enough for Jirachi to outpace Adamant Diggersby, while 108 Speed EVs are enough for it to outspeed positive-natured base 70 Speed Pokemon like Volcanion and Breloom as well as neutral-natured base 80 Speed Pokemon such as Mega Altaria. Maximum HP investment is used to increase Jirachi's overall bulk, and the remaining EVs are placed in Special Defense with a Careful nature to take on the likes of Mega Diancie, Latios, Clefable, and Mega Venusaur as effectively as possible. Leftovers is the item of choice, as Jirachi greatly appreciates the additional longevity it provides, especially considering that this set forgoes any means of reliable recovery. Usage Tips Jirachi should be pivoted into Pokemon it checks such as Mega Diancie, Clefable, and Latios. At that point, it can proceed to attack with Iron Head, set up Stealth Rock, or use U-turn and pick up momentum. On predicted switches into a Jirachi check, typically it is best to set up Stealth Rock early-game in order to get chip damage on the opponent's Pokemon as they switch. If Stealth Rock is already set, using U-turn to pick up momentum is generally preferred. However, sometimes even without Stealth Rock up, the reward of using U-turn can be greater than that of setting up Stealth Rock, especially when Jirachi is paired with a powerful wallbreaker like Mega Medicham, which feasts on many of Jirachi's checks. Additionally, it is not recommended to use U-turn against opposing Pokemon that tend to carry Rocky Helmet such as Garchomp, Landorus-T, or Tangrowth when Jirachi is still needed to check threats like Clefable or Latios. Passive damage from Rocky Helmet combined with this set's lack of recovery wears Jirachi down quite fast, so hard switching is better in these situations. Healing Wish should be used when a teammate needs to be brought back to full HP or have a status condition cured in order to win the game. Team Options This Jirachi set is best used as a support for offensive teams. It works best paired with powerful wallbreakers that appreciate a slow U-turn, as well as sweepers that appreciate Healing Wish support. Keldeo and Mega Medicham are stellar examples of powerful wallbreakers to pair well with Jirachi, as both take advantage of U-turn, being able to smash common Jirachi switch-ins like Heatran, Skarmory, and Ferrothorn while also benefiting from Jirachi being able to take on the likes of Mega Diancie and Latios. Manaphy, Tornadus-T, and Mega Lopunny are all examples of Pokemon that are great partners for Jirachi due to their ability to thrive with Healing Wish support to give them another opportunity to run through a weakened team. Dragon-types such as Kyurem-B and Latios also pair well with Jirachi, because Jirachi threatens common checks to both such as Clefable, opposing Latios, and Mega Diancie. Garchomp especially appreciates these Pokemon being taken care of, as it can potentially set up with Swords Dance and sweep after their removal. One of Weavile's most common answers in Clefable can be taken out by Jirachi, while Weavile can take advantage of one of the most common defensive responses to Jirachi in Landorus-T. Mega Manectric can form a VoltTurn core with Jirachi while appreciating Jirachi handling the likes of Latios, Latias, and Clefable. Rotom-W is another great partner that checks some problematic Fire-types like Talonflame and Heatran while also checking most Ground-types like Landorus-T, Garchomp, Hippowdon, and Sand Rush Excadrill, and in return, it likes Clefable, Latios, Mega Venusaur, and Amoonguss being taken care of by Jirachi. Finally, Landorus-T can prove itself to be a very versatile partner, checking Excadrill, Talonflame, Mega Charizard X, and Garchomp while also being able to provide speed control with Choice Scarf or work as a sweeper with Rock Polish and Swords Dance.

Moves Iron Head is Jirachi's main STAB move, being able to deal ample damage to most targets. Icy Wind hits Garchomp, Landorus-T, and Gliscor. Thunderbolt smashes Slowbro, Suicune, and Skarmory. Hidden Power Ground provides coverage on Bisharp, Heatran, and Magnezone. Hidden Power Fire can be run to surprise Ferrothorn, Scizor, and Bisharp. Alternatively, Healing Wish allows Jirachi to heal up a teammate to full once it has outlived its usefulness, and Energy Ball can be run over Thunderbolt, hitting Rotom-W, Quagsire, Gastrodon, and Hippowdon harder than the rest of Jirachi's moves. Stealth Rock can be run in the last slot as well if the team is in need of a setter. Set Details The Attack investment ensures that Jirachi will be able to 2HKO Clefable with Iron Head while generally pumping up its offensive power. 216 Speed allows Jirachi to outrun neutral-natured Kyurem-B and everything slower. The remaining EVs and a Mild nature power up Jirachi's special moves, allowing it to hit its targets as hard as possible. Expert Belt helps boost the power of super effective hits without revealing Jirachi's item, allowing it to bluff another item, such as Choice Scarf. Alternatively, a Shuca Berry allows Jirachi to take Ground-type moves and land hits on faster Ground-types, such as offensive Garchomp and Choice Scarf Landorus-T. Usage Tips This set relies on Jirachi's coverage in order to tear apart defensive cores. Use the surprise factor in order to bait in typical switch-ins such as Garchomp and Ferrothorn. Pretending to be another set, such as the Choice Scarf set, can lead opponents into a false sense of security and open them up to a super effective hit. Team Options Jirachi's coverage heavily depends on its teammates and what Jirachi can lure for them. Mega Lopunny loves having Garchomp and Landorus-T removed with Icy Wind. Gyarados appreciates Ferrothorn and Skarmory being removed through Hidden Power Fire. Mega Charizard X wants Quagsire, Landorus-T, and Slowbro out of the way, and the combination of Icy Wind and Energy Ball can allow Jirachi to remove all of them. Set Details 32 Speed EVs allow Jirachi to outrun Jolly Tyranitar and neutral-natured base 70s, such as Bisharp and Breloom. The remaining EVs and the Careful nature serve to improve Jirachi's special bulk, aiding it in taking on special attackers such as Latios and Mega Gardevoir. Leftovers serves as a form of passive recovery. Usage Tips Jirachi's bulk and typing allow it to switch reliably into special attackers such as Mega Gardevoir, Latios, Mega Alakazam, and Clefable. From here, using a status move like Toxic or Body Slam allows Jirachi to wear down its switch-ins. Iron Head's flinch chance is very useful on a statused foe, either allowing Toxic damage to add up quickly or preventing the foe from attacking due to the combination of paralysis and flinches. Wish should generally be used on predicted switches and when Jirachi or a teammate is in need of healing. Use Protect in order to guarantee that Jirachi recieve its Wish without risk. Protect is also useful to stall out the foe with Toxic damage as well as scout for the foe's next move, which is especially useful for Pokemon that use Choice items. Team Options Jirachi is best paired with Dragon- and Fighting-type Pokemon, which struggle to deal with Fairy-types on their own. Pokemon such as Dragonite, Kyurem-B, Latios, and Mega Lopunny all appreciate Jirachi's support. Pokemon such as Landorus-T and Gliscor are able to manage Jirachi's weakness to Excadrill, opposing Landorus-T, and Garchomp. Similarly, Mega Charizard X and Heatran can deal with Steel-types such as Skarmory and Ferrothorn, which wall Jirachi. Keldeo, Starmie, Slowbro, and other Water-types can prove to be an issue as well, and teammates such as Mega Venusaur, Latios, and Latias are able to deal with them. Hippowdon is a great stop to Bisharp and Mega Charizard X, which are huge threats to Jirachi. Lastly, Jirachi is easily worn down when statused, so a cleric, such as Clefable or Chansey, can be useful.

Moves Jirachi is a great Stealth Rock user, being almost impossible to OHKO thanks to its numerous resistances and Shuca Berry. Thunder and Icy Wind give Jirachi almost perfect neutral coverage. Thanks to the Speed drop, Icy Wind can 2HKO Landorus-T and Gliscor after Jirachi stomachs an Earthquake, as well as keeping setup sweepers like Dragon Dance Dragonite in check. Usage Tips Although it is a good idea to preserve Jirachi's health against teams with many Psychic- and Dragon-types if running Iron Head, you can usually sack it as a lead early on against hyper offense or rain teams with Stealth Rock as your opening move, while Icy Wind can be used instead against Pokemon like Thundurus-T. Alternatively, Jirachi can pivot out with U-turn against Pokemon like Politoed or Tentacruel to get one of its teammates in safely. If running Energy Ball, the best way to exploit the surprise factor is is to pivot or switch out first when up against targets for Energy Ball, using it the next time Jirachi is in against its target to catch the opponent off guard. Team Options This set fits on hyper offense structures, especially DragMag teams. Icy Wind Jirachi lures in Excadrill and allows for ally Magnezone to beat it every time, as Excadrill can no longer outspeed Magnezone and potentially flinch it with Iron Head before it gets a chance to use Magnet Rise. Jirachi also lures in Ferrothorn and Skarmory and can use U-turn to pivot into Magnezone to trap them. Since Magnezone can trap Steel-types, Dragon-types like Garchomp, Dragonite, Latios, Kyurem-B, and Salamence are good partners. Energy Ball destroys Gastrodon, Seismitoad, and Mamoswine, which Terrakion, Landorus-T, and the aforementioned Dragon-types appreciate. Water-types such as Starmie and Rotom-W can deal with Fire-types, which Jirachi struggles against. Jirachi also partners well with Pokemon immune to Spikes, like Alakazam, Dragonite, and Reuniclus, because it invites Spikers in. For the same reason, it likes Rapid Spin support from Excadrill or Starmie. Jellicent spinblocks to keep Stealth Rock up while also helping against rain teams. Technician Breloom pairs well with Jirachi on more offensive teams, and Volcarona can use Jirachi's momentum from Stealth Rock and U-turn to sweep with Quiver Dance while enjoying Jirachi damaging Water-type checks with Thunder.

Moves Jirachi's typing and bulk let it use Wish or set up Stealth Rock pretty easily against most bulky Pokemon. Iron Head is used because of its high flinch chance and is Jirachi's strongest move against Dragon- and Psychic-type Pokemon. A Sassy nature with 26 IVs lets Jirachi underspeed standard Rotom-W and opposing Jirachi for a slower U-turn so it can bring in its teammates more safely. Usage Tips Bringing Jirachi in as soon as possible to set up Stealth Rock is normally the best move. If using Wish, try to paralyze Pokemon with Body Slam or Thunder and, if given the chance, flinch foes with Iron Head. This racks up Leftovers recovery versus slower targets like Reuniclus and specially defensive Breloom while potentially preventing the former from healing with Recover, opening the door for teammates Reuniclus checks. Keep Jirachi healthy when possible so it isn't forced to Wish for itself or a teammate in an unsafe way, which can give the opponent a free turn at a particularly inopportune time. Team Options This variant of Jirachi finds its home in more defensive weatherless and rain structures. Bulky Water-types like Rotom-W, Gastrodon, Jellicent, Seismitoad, and Milotic love Jirachi for Wish or Stealth Rock support. Jirachi hates Spikes from Pokemon such as Skarmory and Ferrothorn, and Magnezone can trap them easily, especially when Jirachi lures them in and pivots into Magnezone with U-turn. Rapid Spin from Excadrill or Tentacruel or Magic Bounce from Xatu can also prevent Spikes. Other Pokemon that can take advantage of Ferrothorn, like Breloom and Gliscor, are good teammates as well. Frailer Pokemon like Terrakion, Keldeo, and Alakazam love the slow U-turn Jirachi can provide to pivot them in safely. Offensive Dragon-types like Garchomp, Kyurem-B, and Dragonite can profit from the paralysis support Jirachi provides while enjoying it bringing them in safely and taking Dragon- and Ice-type attacks for them like Alakazam and Reuniclus's Hidden Power Ice or Latios's Draco Meteor. Jirachi can fit well on rain teams thanks to the Water-types on them taking on Fire- and Ground-types well, while Jirachi anchors them against the Psychic- and Dragon-types that usually threaten them. On rain teams, Politoed is a required partner, while Pokemon like Latios, Thundurus-T, Keldeo, and Tornadus can pair with Jirachi as well.

Moves Iron Head's high flinch rate allows Jirachi to flinch its way past numerous Pokemon and is very useful for picking off weakened foes. U-turn allows Jirachi to escape Magnet Pull, bring in teammates safely, and scout. Ice Punch hits setup sweepers like Dragonite, Garchomp, and Gliscor for super effective damage. Trick can not only cripple walls, most notably Ferrothorn, Skarmory, and bulky Water-types such as Jellicent, but also messes up sweepers such as Volcarona and offensive Trick Room Reuniclus if it's used as they set up. Healing Wish makes Jirachi an amazing support Pokemon; once it has outlived its usefulness, it can bring in a fully-healed teammate freely. Two other attacks can be run, namely Thunder Punch to hit Water-types, most notably Gyarados, and Zen Headbutt for Keldeo and Tentacruel, which also has a good chance to flinch. Set Details 184 Speed EVs with a Jolly nature makes Jirachi faster than Choice Scarf Landorus-T. Reducing the Speed investment to 96 EVs to outspeed +1 Dragonite frees up EVs for more bulk. One can even run a Careful nature to provide a reliable Alakazam answer for weatherless teams. Usage Tips This set is particularly good at revenge killing Dragon-types because Jirachi is much bulkier than other Choice Scarf users like Latios and Keldeo, and it has numerous resistances, which allows it to switch into a large number of attacks at least once. This set's biggest flaw is its lack of power, which leaves it easily walled and set up on. If Jirachi is your team's only insurance for fast threats, be careful when using Trick, as it can leave you weak to setup sweepers like Dragonite or hard-hitting Pokemon like Latios. Team Options Defensive Flying-types like Landorus-T, Skarmory, and Gliscor are very good options to cover Jirachi's Ground weakness, and they set entry hazards to help Jirachi wear down its switch-ins, given the many switches it forces. Latios can capitalize on the offensive momentum Jirachi generates, check Gliscor, Rotom-W, and Keldeo for Jirachi, and bust holes in other walls that could potentially halt a Jirachi sweep from it. In return, Jirachi is able to revenge kill Tyranitar, which troubles Latios. If Healing Wish is used, Pokemon that can synergize well with Jirachi in general like Garchomp, Terrakion, and Volcarona are excellent recipients of it. Pokemon like Alakazam, Kyurem-B, and Reuniclus can capitalize on the momentum gained by U-turn.

Moves Substitute punishes passive Pokemon like Ferrothorn, Jellicent, and Politoed lacking Encore and switches while also making revenge killing, status moves, and Leech Seed fail at stopping Jirachi. Iron Head can flinch foes while doing a lot of damage to Tyranitar, Mamoswine, Kyurem-B, Latios, Reuniclus, and Alakazam. Set up Substitute when given a free turn or on Pokemon that offensive Jirachi naturally beats, like Jellicent, so it can spread status more easily and wear down the opposing team. Team Options Offensive Jirachi is great on rain and weatherless teams for its ability to perform well against sand teams while being tough to KO thanks to Substitute and its bulk. Rain support from Politoed is helpful to negate Jirachi's Fire weakness and enhance the power of Water Pulse. In return, Jirachi is a great switch-in to opposing Dragon-types such as Latios. Magnezone or Knock Off users like Ferrothorn are needed to deal with opposing Ferrothorn and Excadrill, which completely wall this set. Entry hazards from Pokemon like Ferrothorn help Jirachi further punish the switches it forces. It can also use Knock Off to remove Leftovers from opposing Ferrothorn and other Steel-types, making Jirachi win against them in the long run while acting as a primary Steel-type so that Jirachi doesn't get overwhelmed by checking Dragon-types like Latios and powerful Water-types like Starmie. Pokemon such as Latios and Thundurus-T are immune to Ground-type moves, while Jirachi can check opposing Dragon-types for Latios. Breloom takes on Ground-types for Jirachi, while Jirachi takes on Ice-, Flying-, and Psychic-types and counters Poison-types for Breloom. Since this set can't defeat Gastrodon if it is not statused, Toxic Spikes, Toxic, or Will-O-Wisp users like Tentacruel and Rotom-W are appreciated to wear it down.

The other option is Water Pulse on rain teams, which allows Jirachi to employ a devastating parafusion strategy while nailing Heatran, Volcarona, and Ground-types like Excadrill. Set Details The EV spread gives Jirachi enough Speed to outrun neutral-natured base 100 Speed Pokemon like Celebi and opposing Jirachi and enough HP to make Substitutes that survive one Seismic Toss or Night Shade. It's possible to run 252 Speed EVs to Speed tie with Salamence and Volcarona, but it's really not worth it since the bulk is crucial and outspeeding these Pokemon usually doesn't of payoff. Defensive Landorus-T is an entry hazard setter that can check Ground-types, namely Excadrill, which is a troublesome Pokemon for Jirachi should it lack Water Pulse. Celebi can set Stealth Rock, check Ground-types, and take attacks from Water-types like Keldeo. Ferrothorn is likely the best entry hazard setter to pair with this Jirachi set, as it sets up Spikes as well as Stealth Rock. It can also use Knock Off to remove Leftovers from opposing Ferrothorn and other Steel-types, letting Jirachi win against them in the long run, and it can act as a primary Steel-type so that Jirachi doesn't get overwhelmed checking Dragon-types like Latios. It further takes on Water-types like Keldeo and Starmie. Lastly, a cleaner such as Choice Scarf Keldeo is useful to have around just in case Jirachi gets KOed before finishing its sweep; Keldeo demolishes Heatran for Jirachi while Jirachi disposes of Jellicent, Ferrothorn, and Latios, making it easier for Keldeo to spam Surf and Hydro Pump late-game.

Moves Jirachi provides excellent utility with just Iron Head, allowing it to use a diverse array of support moves. Body Slam is not very strong, but it offers a 60% chance to paralyze and can crucially paralyze Ground-types. Paralysis gives foes only a 30% chance to hit through Iron Head and helps incapacitate faster Pokemon trying to set up on Jirachi, such as Dragon Dance Gyarados, Dragon Dance Dragonite, and Agility Empoleon. Body Slam also outdamages Iron Head against foes such as Swampert, Starmie, Zapdos, and Infernape, allowing Jirachi to finish them off at low health. Thunder is another option, as despite only having a 42% chance to paralyze foes factoring in accuracy and Serene Grace, it hits Ghost-types, OHKOes Gyarados after Stealth Rock, and 2HKOes Starmie and Skarmory. Thunder Wave gives Jirachi a 100% chance to paralyze foes but does not do damage, making it vulnerable to Taunt and Substitute. Fire Punch gives Jirachi coverage against Steel-types such as opposing Jirachi, Magnezone, Skarmory, Scizor, Bronzong, and Metagross. The 20% burn chance not only lets Jirachi wear down targets quicker with Iron Head but also helps it survive various Ground-type attacks from Metagross and Bronzong. Another option is U-turn, as it makes Jirachi an excellent pivot, as well as allowing it to escape Magnezone. When paired with Wish, Jirachi can survive the hit from faster Pokemon so that the teammate receiving the Wish switches in unscathed. Protect helps Jirachi passively heal itself and scouts the foe. Set Details With three attacks and a utility move, Jirachi can use numerous EV spreads; this EV spread has maximum HP, has enough Speed EVs to outspeed Lucario and Roserade, and has enough Attack EVs to KO Lucario at -1 Defense after one round of Life Orb recoil and Stealth Rock damage 75% of the time. Jirachi needs 156 Attack EVs to KO Lucario after Life Orb recoil at -1 Defense outright. Even with Thunder, Jirachi should run a hindering Special Attack nature, as it is still strong enough against Gyarados, Skarmory, and Starmie. 252 HP EVs give Jirachi a 101-HP Substitute unbroken by one Seismic Toss and great general bulk. Should Lucario not be as important, Jirachi can also run maximum Speed EVs with a spread of 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Spe to at least Speed tie with Flygon, opposing Jirachi, and Zapdos; more Attack EVs to power up Fire Punch and Iron Head; and more bulk to better pass Wish with U-turn. If Jirachi has Fire Punch, it should use at least 176 Speed EVs with a neutral nature to outspeed Adamant Lucario and Heatran. Some example EV spreads Jirachi can use include 252 HP / 80 Atk / 176 Spe with an Adamant nature and 252 HP / 108 Atk / 148 Spe with a Jolly nature. These EV spreads do more damage to Magnezone and opposing Jirachi with Fire Punch and require fewer Iron Head flinches to break through foes. With Wish, Jirachi is free to invest more in its bulk. Some example EV spreads that outspeed Tyranitar include 252 HP / 224 Def / 32 Spe with an Impish nature and 252 HP / 224 SpD / 32 Spe with a Careful nature. Jirachi can also minimize its Speed to take the hit before Wish passing via U-turn with an EV spread of 252 HP / 196 Def / 60 SpD with an Impish or Relaxed nature and potentially fewer than 31 Speed IVs. Beware that lowering Speed makes it harder to cause foes to flinch. Usage Tips Jirachi should lead or switch in on a target it threatens, such as Tyranitar or offensive Latias, and start spreading paralysis or set up Stealth Rock if it has it. The main exception is if Jirachi has Fire Punch and would rather burn the foe, such as against Skarmory, Bronzong, and Metagross. Once Jirachi has statused its checks, it should typically switch out and come in again on the many foes it threatens. Once the check is in again and statused, Jirachi can then start wearing it down with Iron Head, Stealth Rock, and its coverage moves. This is a highly effective strategy; Jirachi is naturally fast and quite bulky, so it takes multiple hits through Iron Head and paralysis to beat. While Jirachi can chain many flinches to take down almost any foe, such as offensive Heatran and Swampert, only try to do this in desperate situations, as not getting the flinch can lead to Jirachi getting KOed much earlier than it should have. With Protect, don't allow foes to take advantage with setup by being too predictable with it. With Wish and U-turn, Jirachi can pass Wish, but be careful to keep its health high enough, as it will often take a hit doing so and doesn't have Protect to back it up. U-turn can also be effective as an early-game pivot. Jirachi can get Stealth Rock up against almost any foe, but be careful, as it can take a lot of damage doing so. Note that Thunder is often unexpected from Jirachi, so it can get a lot of damage against Gyarados and Skarmory in particular. Especially without recovery or a Lum Berry, Jirachi should try to avoid status at all costs. Team Options Utility Jirachi is a valuable partner for a lot of offensive teams without Spikes that love support against Lucario and Choice Specs Latias, appreciate status, and potentially need a Stealth Rock user. For this reason, one of its most common partners is Tyranitar, as all sets enjoy additional backup against Latias and appreciate a stopgap against Lucario as well as speed control. Choice Scarf Tyranitar also helps with Gengar, as Jirachi does not like dealing with Gengar potentially burning it or overwhelming it with Life Orb-boosted attacks, while Choice Band Tyranitar appreciates the paralysis support and Jirachi potentially getting it in with U-turn. Sand also helps wear down checks like Zapdos and Suicune more effectively. Jirachi, particularly with Substitute, also is a premier Pokemon on more offensive paralysis teams; it enjoys teammates such as Azelf, Machamp, offensive or Swords Dance Breloom, and Thunder Wave + Dragon Dance Gyarados that can potentially help spread paralysis and take advantage of the foes Jirachi wears down. Azelf's Explosion can potentially both give Jirachi a chance to start spreading status and weaken a Steel-type check such as Heatran or Metagross. Breloom and Machamp have similar checks to Jirachi, so if they defeat or heavily weaken Skarmory, Gyarados, or Metagross, Jirachi can clean up the rest. Gyarados is also an effective teammate, as it has great type synergy with Jirachi's weakness while also opening up holes with either a Choice Band or Dragon Dance set. While Jirachi can be effective if it is lucky against defensive teams, it does enjoy some additional assistance against them. Wallbreakers such as Breloom and Heatran are fantastic, while Infernape can potentially join Breloom as a dual Fighting-type core. Offensive Starmie sets can potentially get rid of the entry hazards that Jirachi can often let up trying to burn Skarmory. Ground-immune Pokemon such as Gengar, Choice item Latias, Zapdos, and mixed Flygon are great options alongside Jirachi, as they can pivot nicely into predicted Earthquakes and hit hard in return. Additionally, each of them can force substantial damage on Heatran, paving the way for an Iron Head sweep later. As Jirachi can be weak to setup sweepers with a Lum Berry, it does appreciate an additional backstop to them, such as Choice Scarf Rotom-A and Choice Scarf Latias. While Jirachi does appreciate Magnezone support, it is more commonly paired with Choice Scarf Magneton due to the role compression Jirachi provides as a Stealth Rock user and the fact Magneton helps against neutral nature Dragon Dance Gyarados and Dragon Dance Dragonite. Jirachi is also particularly effective alongside Knock Off support, as removing Leftovers makes Iron Head highly effective in wearing down foes that resist Iron Head. Partners such as specially defensive Empoleon and Clefable can work. Additionally, Trick + Iron Ball Metagross can remove Leftovers from mutual checks like Skarmory and Zapdos so that Jirachi can break through them.

Moves Jirachi's Iron Head is an excellent tool to sweep with—with full Attack investment and maximum Speed, it only needs a few flinches to beat down even Pokemon relatively resistant to Jirachi like Flygon and Gliscor as well as now 3HKOing Clefable and other fairly bulky threats such as Machamp. Iron Head also makes up for Jirachi's lack of a physical boosting move. Like Iron Head, the additional investment helps Jirachi 3HKO frail attackers such as offensive Starmie and Infernape. Fire Punch 2HKOes Scizor and Magnezone without bulk investment if either hit burns them and 3HKOes maximum HP Jirachi, Bronzong, specially defensive Skarmory, and Metagross after Stealth Rock. Protect maximizes Jirachi's longevity, as alternating them to restore HP helps make up for its lack of bulk. However, Refresh is a fantastic option to stave off status. Refresh also helps Jirachi spread status to opposing defensive Jirachi, as it can fish for burns and then heal off paralysis with Refresh. Jirachi can forgo the utility move for additional coverage such as Ice Punch and Grass Knot. Ice Punch is another great option to maximize its coverage and give it a 20% chance to freeze the foe. It OHKOes Dragonite and Flygon after Stealth Rock and is Jirachi's best option against Gliscor, Zapdos, and Latias. Jirachi can also run Grass Knot in the last spot, as it 2HKOes Swampert even with a hindering Special Attack nature. Set Details A simple EV spread of 252 Attack / 252 Speed with a Jolly nature helps maximize the damage of Jirachi's Iron Head and its coverage moves. Jirachi should always maximize Speed EVs to at least Speed tie with Flygon, Jirachi, and Zapdos, but it can spare some Attack EVs to run bulk, such as 48 HP / 208 Atk / 252 Spe that hits a Leftovers number. While Leftovers is the most common option, Jirachi can also use a Lum Berry. Lum Berry helps Jirachi switch into Breloom, spread paralysis to other Jirachi, and combat Gengar more easily on more aggressive teams that can struggle with these Pokemon. Jirachi can use some other items, such as Iron Plate to power up Iron Head and Salac Berry paired with Substitute to take advantage of its additional coverage. All of these items help bluff a Choice Scarf set or otherwise don't hold Leftovers. Usage Tips Jirachi can come in earlier in the game to spread status, as getting a burn on Skarmory, Metagross, or opposing Jirachi can immediately open up the game. Otherwise, Jirachi typically comes into the game fairly late or on something it needs to revenge kill, such as Lucario or Tyranitar, as it does not have a lot of bulk and can get worn down. On the other hand, it is uniquely excellent at sweeping weakened, statused foes due to Iron Head, as much of the tier that doesn't resist it are at least 3HKOed. Jirachi is typically played patiently, waiting for its checks to be worn down by entry hazards and weaker attacks so that Jirachi needs fewer flinches to break through them. Keeping Jirachi hidden also has the benefit of scouting the opposing team, so it doesn't get trapped or statused by Magnezone. With Refresh, don't be afraid to go for extra damage to weaken status-inducing threats. Jirachi is fairly bulky for an offensive Pokemon, and opponents will often be very willing to status Jirachi in exchange for HP on other Pokemon. Coverage moves such as Ice Punch with investment and Grass Knot can be unexpected from Jirachi, so luring in Gliscor, Flygon, and Swampert trying to KO Jirachi can be valuable. Team Options Jirachi is one of the best Spikes partners in the tier, as they wear down its answers very effectively. It is a staple of the big five style built around Choice Scarf Tyranitar, Clefable, Skarmory, defensive Latias, and a Ground-type such as Hippowdon, Quagsire, specially defensive Gliscor, or Donphan. It is highly effective as a cleaner and Lucario check on these teams. Tyranitar sets sand, appreciates backup in taking on Choice item Latias, and Pursuit traps frail Dark-weak foes like Gengar, Choice Scarf Rotom-A, and Starmie that can status Jirachi or otherwise outspeed it and give it trouble. Clefable removes items with Knock Off, greatly increasing Jirachi's effectiveness, and takes on bulkier threats resistant to Iron Head such as Zapdos and Suicune. Skarmory is the best Spiker in the tier. Defensive Latias and the Ground-type give much-needed defensive flexibility with Jirachi. Jirachi also works well alongside other offensive Spikes partners, such as Gengar, Swampert, and specially defensive Empoleon. Gengar and Swampert appreciate if Jirachi burns specially defensive Skarmory, while both provide the residual damage on defensive teams Jirachi enjoys. Jirachi can also fit with more offensive teammates, especially if it forgoes Leftovers. It can fit alongside Magnezone offenses that lack Knock Off alongside teammates like Dragon Dance Tyranitar, Dragon Dance Dragonite, Choice Specs Latias, and Swords Dance Gliscor, as it enjoys Leftovers Skarmory being eliminated and pressures Shed Shell Skarmory with status and Iron Head flinches. Jirachi can even use a Lum Berry to help these teammates deal with Breloom. Gengar is a stellar partner due to its ability to counter Ground-types such as Hippowdon and Swampert by switching in on predicted Earthquakes and inflicting burn damage with Will-O-Wisp. Additionally, Gengar can heavily damage Heatran with Focus Blast, a common counter to Jirachi's physical attacks. Meanwhile, Jirachi can retaliate against Latias and Tyranitar, which may try to exploit Gengar's frailty. Jirachi's ability to pressure Lucario and Scizor make it a good teammate for other Spikers that can struggle with them such as Roserade. Some good teammates for these include Choice Specs Latias, Calm Mind Suicune, offensive Heatran, Dragon Dance Gyarados, and Choice Scarf Rotom-A.

Moves Jirachi's excellent Speed, ability to deal with most Speed-boosting threats, and great coverage make it a solid Choice Scarf user. 492 is a desirable Speed tier, letting it outspeed +2 Dragon Dance Tyranitar and other fast threats such as Gengar and Latias and proceed to wear them down with Iron Head flinches. This combined with status and entry hazards makes Choice Scarf Jirachi able to break through faster Pokemon once they've been sufficiently weakened. The remainder of the set is flexible and will mostly depend on the user's needs. Fire Punch is a popular option to hit Steel-types such as Scizor, Lucario, Metagross, Skarmory, and opposing Jirachi. Thunder Punch and Ice Punch are good choices to improve its coverage and revenge kill Dragon Dance Gyarados and Dragonite. However, these attacks tend to give setup opportunities, which is why Trick and U-turn are other attractive options. Trick makes Jirachi a legitimate threat against stall teams, crippling a wall, locking a setup sweeper into one attack, and potentially gaining valuable Leftovers recovery. On the other hand, U-turn keeps up momentum on Pokemon Jirachi can't hurt effectively such as Heatran. Choice Scarf Jirachi also makes for a surprisingly good lead. With a set of Iron Head, Trick, and two of Fire Punch, Body Slam, U-turn, and Stealth Rock, Jirachi can use its Speed to make frailer leads such as Azelf and Aerodactyl flinch to prevent Stealth Rock, lock the opposing lead into a move, potentially set up Stealth Rock, or pivot out to the appropriate counter with U-turn. Set Details Speed and Attack are maximized to make Jirachi as offensively threatening as possible. Jirachi needs a Jolly nature to Speed tie with Flygon and outspeed +2 Dragon Dance Tyranitar. However, engaging in Speed ties with Flygon is uncommon and not recommended without Ice Punch; hence, it is possible to use an Adamant nature to help Iron Head hit as hard as possible. Another path is to run additional bulk to improve Jirachi's ability to survive attacks such as Choice Specs Latias's Draco Meteor, Dragonite's boosted Outrage, and Tyranitar's +1 Earthquake should Iron Head fail to make them flinch. A spread of 56 HP / 252 Atk / 200 Spe with an Adamant nature is a common spread, as it allows Jirachi to outspeed Jolly Mamoswine once Choice Scarf has been passed on with Trick. When running Thunder Punch, a spread of 160 HP / 140 Atk / 208 Spe with an Adamant nature OHKOes bulkless non-Wacan Berry Dragon Dance Gyarados, while the Speed beats Jolly Mamoswine and most defensive Latias. Similarly, a Fire Punch Jirachi can run a spread of 104 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 148 Spe with a Jolly nature to maximize its usefulness as a bulky pivot. Ice Punch Jirachi should stick with maximum Speed, as the ability to at least Speed tie with Flygon and OHKO it is one of its perks. Jirachi can also use a spread of 252 HP / 108 Atk / 148 Spe with a Jolly nature to maximize its bulk and still outspeed what it needs to. Usage Tips Jirachi can be played in two ways: it can lead like mentioned above and try to get immediate momentum against hyper offensive leads such as Azelf and Aerodactyl, as well as scouting the opposing team with U-turn, or it can be played cautiously, only being brought in on threats it needs to revenge kill, such as Dragon Dance Tyranitar and Lucario. Although bringing in Jirachi as threats such as Dragon Dance Gyarados and Dragon Dance Dragonite set up or on a revenge kill could force them out, the ubiquity of defensive Jirachi might incline them to stay in and attack. When revealing Jirachi has a Choice Scarf, beware of Magnezone trying to switch in, as Jirachi will be trapped by a healthy Magnezone if it isn't locked into Fire Punch. Unlike other Choice Scarf users with Trick such as Latias and Rotom-A, Jirachi is not weak to Choice Scarf Tyranitar's Pursuit, meaning it can use Trick more aggressively against defensive teams. Make sure Jirachi's Speed is no longer needed before doing this, however. Jirachi, especially with more bulk, also has strong potential as a pivot, taking resisted hits and swinging momentum back in its favor with U-turn, but beware that doing this might compromise its ability to revenge kill threats. A final thing to note with Choice Scarf Jirachi is its potential as a late-game cleaner: its high Speed and the power of Iron Head flinching can clean up teams weakened by sand and entry hazards as their Steel-resistant Pokemon are chipped. Even frailer Steel-resistant Pokemon such as Choice Scarf Rotom-A and Starmie that normally are not vulnerable to Jirachi can fall, but Jirachi should only do this in desperate situations. Team Options Choice Scarf Jirachi is most common on more defensive teams as speed control if they already have strong defensive Steel-types, but it can also fit on more offensive teams as a bulky revenge killer not weak to Pursuit or sand. On defensive teams, Choice Scarf Jirachi primarily competes with Choice Scarf Tyranitar as a revenge killer and has the opportunity cost of not running bulkier variants of Jirachi. Because of this, teammates need to be able to handle frail Dark-weak attackers such as Gengar, Choice Specs Latias, Starmie, and Rotom-A. As such, the most common special wall used alongside it is Blissey, although Clefable can be effective with support against attackers such as Choice Specs Latias. Other good teammates such as physically defensive Zapdos and Starmie to mitigate entry hazard weaknesses are also effective, as they can keep Jirachi healthy against Spikes. As Jirachi tends to give setup opportunities when it is locked into an attack, Zapdos, Hippowdon, defensive Latias, Milotic, and Gliscor also make for strong teammates. Choice Scarf Jirachi's Speed allows for more flexible move set options for defensive Pokemon; for example, Latias can potentially use Trick + Flame Orb to help cripple Steel-types for Jirachi instead of being forced to always check Gyarados, while Hippowdon can run more specially defensive sets as Jirachi answers Dragon Dance Tyranitar. Skarmory can set up Spikes to help weaken Steel-resistant foes that can absorb multiple Iron Heads. Additionally, defensive teams built around a bulky wincon such as Calm Mind Clefable, Torment Heatran, or Calm Mind + Rest Suicune appreciate Jirachi's ability to both absorb Trick and use Trick itself on walls to help set up. Breloom is also a useful teammate to take advantage of the defensive Pokemon that wall Jirachi and fits well alongside Starmie and Zapdos, while offensive Heatran can open up holes for Jirachi to take advantage of. On more offensive teams, teammates generally tend to already handle Choice Specs Latias well and need the general revenge killing that Choice Scarf Jirachi provides. Bulkier Tyranitar sets and Steel-types such as Empoleon, Heatran, and Metagross are strong teammates to handle Jirachi's defensive duties. Heatran can even use Substitute to take advantage of Jirachi's Trick. More aggressive Spikes Pokemon such as offensive Skarmory and Roserade appreciate Jirachi's ability to back them up against dangerous threats while Spikes wear down Steel-resistant foes over the course of the game. Bulky offensive Pokemon such as Suicune, Swampert, and Gyarados all help against Pokemon that take advantage of Jirachi locked into one move. They also additionally handle Heatran, which is a major threat to Jirachi.

Moves Jirachi makes for a fantastic mixed attacker with its expansive movepool, resilience to passive damage, and excellent Speed. Iron Head is the only necessary move, as it creates free turns, pressures Tyranitar, and disables more physically frail special walls such as Clefable and Blissey with its 60% flinch chance. The remainder of the set is more flexible, depending on the rest of the team. Ice Punch and Icy Wind take care of the Flying- and Dragon-types; Ice Punch OHKOes Dragonite and Flygon and 2HKOes Gliscor and offensive Latias. Icy Wind is a fine alternative to put more pressure on more physically bulky Pokemon weak to Ice such as Gliscor. The Speed drop also lets Jirachi hit first with Iron Head and prevents Pokemon such as Agility Empoleon and Dragon Dance Gyarados from setting up on Jirachi with impunity should it lack the necessary coverage. Fire Punch hits Steel-types such as Skarmory, Magnezone, Bronzong, and other Jirachi for super effective damage and allows Jirachi fulfull its defensive niche against Scizor and Lucario, as it OHKOes both after Stealth Rock damage. Should Heatran and Magnezone be a concern, Hidden Power Ground is an another option to 2HKO Heatran and OHKO Magnezone without bulk investment after Stealth Rock. Grass Knot hits Swampert, Quagsire, and Gastrondon very hard, at least 2HKOing them while also pressuring Milotic and Suicune. On the other hand, Thunderbolt and Thunder OHKO Gyarados after Stealth Rock and 2HKO Starmie and Skarmory. Mixed attacking Jirachi has several other options worth considering. Psychic with Special Attack investment OHKOes Gengar and Breloom and 2HKOes Machamp. It also 3HKOes RestTalk Rotom-A, something Jirachi is unable to achieve with any of its other moves. Hidden Power Fire hits Metagross, physically defensive Skarmory, and Breloom harder than Fire Punch. However, Jirachi loses the option to burn its foes and cannot Speed tie with mixed Flygon and opposing Jirachi due to the 30 Speed IV required for Hidden Power Fire. Set Details Mixed attacking Jirachi typically runs close to or maximum Speed EVs to Speed tie with other Jirachi and Flygon then invests in one of its offensive stats. However, Jirachi can also opt to lower its Speed investment to hit harder. Useful Speed benchmarks are 320 Speed to outspeed Modest Latias and Gliscor; 308 Speed to outspeed Lucario and Roserade; 300 Speed to outspeed Suicune, Rotom-A, and neutral-natured Zapdos and Flygon, and 280 Speed to outspeed Adamant Lucario and Heatran. For more specially oriented Jirachi, alternative EV spreads include 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe, 36 Atk / 252 SpA / 220 Spe to outspeed Modest Latias, and 116 Atk / 192 SpA / 200 Spe with a Special Attack-boosting nature to OHKO offensive Swampert with Grass Knot and an Expert Belt. While Jirachi can use both Defense- and Special Defense-hindering natures, Naive is more common, as Jirachi simply isn't bulky enough without investment to be a long-term pivot into Latias, and keeping its Defense intact allows it to answer threats such as itself, Gyarados, Tyranitar, Breloom, and Dragonite better. Jirachi has a small chance to be OHKOed by Tyranitar's +1 Fire Punch after Stealth Rock with a Defense-reducing nature. The most common item Jirachi uses is Shuca Berry, as it lets Jirachi survive Earthquake from various Pokemon such as Dragon Dance Gyarados, Dragon Dance Dragonite, Flygon, Metagross, Hippowdon, and Swampert and hit them hard with the appropriate coverage move. Even with a Defense-reducing nature, these Pokemon will fail to OHKO Jirachi with a boosted Earthquake. Another option is Expert Belt, which notably guarantees special coverage moves, such as Hidden Power Ground and Grass Knot, OHKO targets such as Magnezone and Swampert. Leftovers is common to help feign Jirachi not having special coverage moves such as Grass Knot, Thunderbolt, and Hidden Power Ground and gives it the longevity to survive on more defensive teams as a wincon. Lum Berry allows Jirachi to absorb Breloom's Spore and avoid paralysis from Magnezone and opposing Jirachi. In conjunction with Hidden Power Ground, Occa Berry is a decent item to take Fire-types moves from Heatran and Infernape. Usage Tips Jirachi has a lot of flexibility and can be brought in at almost any stage of the game. It can lead and hit most leads in the tier hard, come in mid-game to threaten targets such as Swampert, Skarmory, and Heatran with coverage, or wait until late in the game to revenge kill dangerous Pokemon such as Lucario and clean up weakened foes with its Speed. Despite this, it struggles to fulfill the defensive roles bulkier sets can, as boosted Dragon-type moves such as Latias's Choice Specs Draco Meteor and Dragonite's Outrage will 2HKO it. Once it hits the field, Jirachi is straightforward to play: hit the foe with the appropriate move. Especially if Jirachi isn't holding Leftovers, different item choices can dictate how it should be played. Items such as Expert Belt and Occa Berry can unexpectedly break open holes earlier in the game, while Lum Berry and Shuca Berry are valuable tools to be held hidden to cover specific situations. Shuca Berry variants in particular are often part of the team's backbone against setup sweepers and should be kept healthy for the later stages of the game. Take advantage of how Jirachi can often bluff coverage attacks in desperate situations: for example, switching into Swords Dance Scizor can represent Jirachi having Fire Punch or Hidden Power Fire even if it doesn't have either and can force Scizor out. Team Options Mixed Jirachi most often fits on two types of teams: as a late-game wincon and fail-safe against Swords Dance Lucario for both offensive and stall teams based around Spikes, and as an offensive threat and backup answer to Dragon Dance sweepers on faster teams without Spikes. For both offensive and defensive Spikes-based teams, the most common Spiker is Skarmory. Defensive Skarmory can take on Jirachi's defensive roles such as switching into Latias's Draco Meteor, while offensive Skarmory sets can immediately set up entry hazards to put Jirachi's answers in range of its coverage moves. Jirachi can even heavily weaken or KO Magnezone trying to trap Skarmory. On more offensive teams, Roserade can work as well, but it lacks the reliability of Skarmory. On more offensive Spikes-based teams, common teammates include offensive Swampert, Gengar, Choice Specs Latias, Tyranitar, and offensive or Choice Scarf Rotom-A. All of these Pokemon either provide critical defensive utility, take advantage of Spikes themselves, or help keep Spikes up against spinners such as Starmie, Donphan, and Forretress. For more defensive Spikes-based teams, mixed Jirachi is common on the big 5 style built around Choice Scarf Tyranitar, Skarmory, defensive Latias, Clefable, and either RestTalk Rotom-A or a Ground-type such as Hippowdon, Quagsire, Gliscor, or Donphan. Jirachi provides a more immediate answer to Skarmory with Thunderbolt instead of burning it with Fire Punch and uses its additional coverage to take on threats such as Swampert and Gliscor. More defensive teammates help make up for Jirachi's lack of bulk—whereas more offensive teams are likely to use Jirachi to take on offensive Water-types such as Calm Mind Suicune, Gyarados, and Starmie, defensive partners such as Latias and Clefable can instead, allowing Jirachi to preserve its health for late in the game. These teammates also help Jirachi against difficult foes such as Rotom-A and Zapdos that Jirachi struggles to beat. Note that using such a frail Jirachi forces these Pokemon into particular sets; for example, Skarmory often should be specially defensive, and Latias often needs to have Roar to make up for Jirachi's shortcomings. On teams without Spikes, Jirachi plays a more supportive role in checking threats such as Dragonite, Swampert, Gyarados, Lucario, and Gliscor with its Speed, item choice, and coverage. As such, it more likely molds its moveset towards its teammates to cover the holes they may lead to. However, it should be used alongside sturdier checks to Latias and Dragonite such as Metagross. Staples of offensive teams such as mixed or Dragon Dance Dragonite, Gyarados, Azelf, offensive Heatran, Dragon Dance Tyranitar, offensive Empoleon, Swords Dance Lucario, Agility Metagross, and Swords Dance Scizor are all good partners. Dragonite and Dragon Dance Tyranitar appreciate Jirachi heavily weakening Swampert and Hippowdon with Grass Knot; Azelf and Gyarados can potentially spread paralysis for Jirachi to take advantage of with Iron Head; Heatran and Empoleon appreciate backup with Dragon Dance sweepers due to Jirachi's Shuca Berry and Jirachi potentially weakening special walls with Iron Head; and Lucario, Metagross, and Scizor appreciate Jirachi targeting Flying-types such as Gyarados, Zapdos, Gliscor, and Skarmory with super effective coverage. Breloom is another great partner alongside versions without Grass Knot, as it can switch into Ground-types trying to target Jirachi with Earthquake. Gengar is another good option, as it can weaken Heatran so that Jirachi can eventually break through.

Moves Jirachi can pair Wish with Protect to get reliable recovery. While it loses a moveslot, it becomes a fantastic wall, as few foes can 2HKO it. With Wish, it also becomes excellent at healing its teammates. Jirachi can easily heal itself, so it is not forced to receive the Wish to stay healthy and can switch to a teammate. Iron Head makes Jirachi oppressive to deal with, as it can help Jirachi receive Wish by causing the foe to flinch on the turn after it uses Wish. Jirachi has a lot more longevity with Wish and Protect, so it can slowly wear down its answers over the course of the game so that it only needs a few Iron Head flinches to break through. It also allows it to remain threatening without any Attack EVs, 2HKOing Tyranitar without bulk investment and often at least 4HKOing slower foes neutral to it such as Machamp, most Breloom, and specially defensive Clefable. U-turn is also another option to maximize its ability to pass Wish and to escape Magnezone trying to trap it. Set Details Jirachi has two possible approaches: physically defensive and specially defensive. Physically defensive with the spread given is preferred, as Jirachi can avoid the 2HKO from an unboosted Earthquake from foes such as Metagross, Dragonite, Tyranitar, and Bronzong. This makes Jirachi extraordinarily difficult to KO without a boosted Earthquake or strong super effective Fire-type coverage. The Speed EVs given outspeed Tyranitar. Jirachi can spare some Defense EVs for some additional Special Defense EVs to take attacks such as Gengar's Life Orb Shadow Ball more easily. An example EV spread would be 252 HP / 164 Def / 60 SpD / 32 Spe that avoids the 2HKO from Empoleon's Hydro Pump and can survive attacks such as Infernape's unboosted Fire Blast and mixed Dragonite's Fire Blast after Stealth Rock. Another option is to fully invest in Jirachi's Special Defense with an EV spread of 252 HP / 224 SpD / 32 Spe. This makes Jirachi remarkably specially bulky, easily surviving attacks such as Kingdra's Choice Specs Hydro Pump in the rain, Heatran's unboosted Fire Blast, and Suicune's boosted Hydro Pump. The spread also is more effective at absorbing resisted attacks such as Latias's Choice Specs Draco Meteor and mixed Dragonite's Draco Meteor. This spread prevents Jirachi from taking on Dragon Dance sweepers as easily but lets it spread paralysis to offensive Suicune and rain sweepers like Kingdra and Ludicolo well. Do not be afraid to trade lots of HP for status on a crucial threat—Jirachi has a remarkable ability to passively heal after taking a huge hit and eventually end up healthy, such as against Machamp's Dynamic Punch, Infernape's unboosted Fire Blast, and Gyarados's +1 Earthquake. Jirachi should try to stay away from entry hazard setters such as Skarmory and Forretress, bulky Substitute users such as opposing Jirachi, and status moves such as Thunder Wave and Will-O-Wisp. Jirachi can be an excellent cleaner against frailer, paralyzed teams once Steel-resistant foes are eliminated, despite its defensively leaning stats. Choice Scarf Magnezone or Magneton is one of Wish + Protect Jirachi's best partners, as it removes Skarmory without Shed Shell with certainty, provides speed control against dangerous foes like Gengar and Infernape, and can potentially trap weakened Steel-types that can threaten Jirachi such as Heatran, Lucario, and opposing Jirachi. Jirachi also is prominent on the Magnezone bait style, where Skarmory is used as a sacrifice for the opposing Magnezone so one's own Magnezone traps the other one with Hidden Power Ground, freeing up Jirachi from being trapped or statused. Skarmory's Spikes are suffocating alongside Jirachi, as most of its checks are either Spikes vulnerable or weak to Stealth Rock. Other Pokemon common on this style are partners that can keep up entry hazards, such as Choice Scarf Tyranitar and defensive Rotom-A; bulky teammates that can handle Heatran such as defensive Latias, Milotic, and Clefable; and a bulky late-game sweeper such as Swords Dance + Roost Gliscor, Calm Mind Clefable, or Curse Quagsire. Jirachi is also a mainstay on defensive teams as a general wall and Wish passer. Some strong teammates include Hippowdon, RestTalk Gyarados, Skarmory, defensive Latias, defensive Celebi, Gliscor, Clefable, and Calm Mind + RestTalk Suicune. These Pokemon help shore Jirachi up against Ground- and Fire-types while also appreciating the support Jirachi gives against Dragon-types and Dragon Dance sweepers as well as potential Wish passes to keep them healthy. Forretress is especially synergetic, as Jirachi absorbs its defensive responsibilities, so it can focus on using Rapid Spin and setting up entry hazards without being the only Dragon-resistant Pokemon. Other Rapid Spin users such as Starmie and Donphan are also effective. Jirachi is especially devastating with Knock Off from Clefable and hazard support, so using it on this style of team can easily set it up to potentially sweep. Jirachi also features prominently on more defensive paralysis-based teams built around Starmie, defensive Zapdos, Blissey or Clefable, and Breloom. All of these are synergetic partners; Starmie helps spread paralysis, answer Fire-types such as Heatran and Infernape, and can use Rapid Spin to remove Spikes. Zapdos provides additional backup against Pokemon Jirachi doesn't enjoy facing, such as Lum Berry sweepers and powerful Fighting-types such as Machamp and Breloom. Blissey is extremely bulky and can absorb Heatran's attacks, while Clefable helps spread Knock Off and also can assist against strong special coverage. Both offensive Breloom, especially with Swords Dance, and defensive Breloom enjoy paralysis support, take on Ground-types, and are potent stallbreakers for Jirachi. Some other common partners include Machamp, Substitute + Nasty Plot Togekiss, and Bold Clefable should one use Blissey. Magnezone is also a valuable teammate on these styles, and it can assist with teammates such as Swampert, Rhyperior, Choice Band Tyranitar, and even uncommon choices such as Shaymin and Registeel.

Moves Jirachi's immunity to sand and great defensive profile make it a fine choice for a defensive Calm Mind user. Wish makes Jirachi unique as a supporter that can sweep, allowing it to provide longevity for its team throughout the game. Calm Mind forces the use of offensive answers to Jirachi, as its great typing, its physical bulk, and the Special Defense boost cover for the extra turn Wish needs to heal it. Once answers are removed, weaker Pokemon are unable to break through Jirachi barring a critical hit. Psychic is Jirachi's most reliable attack, OHKOing Breloom and Gengar after Stealth Rock, 2HKOing Machamp, and providing good neutral coverage against Pokemon such as Clefable, Rotom-A, and Ground-types. Flash Cannon is another option to more heavily pressure Tyranitar and Latias, as it 2HKOes offensive versions of Tyranitar and 3HKOes Latias after a Calm Mind. Thunderbolt provides good coverage with both moves, as it prevents Skarmory from phazing Jirachi, has good neutral coverage on Steel-types such as Scizor, and hits Water- and Flying-types such as Gyarados, Empoleon, and Starmie hard. Should these options be handled by other teammates, Hidden Power Ground is another solid option to better answer Steel-types such as Heatran, Metagross, and other Jirachi, as well as weakened Tyranitar. Set Details Jirachi's EVs emphasize physical bulk, as Jirachi can shore up its Special Defense with Calm Mind. Maximum HP investment also allows it outheal Seismic Toss from Clefable and Blissey. The Speed investment outspeeds Jolly Tyranitar and uninvested base 100s such as Zapdos and opposing defensive Jirachi. The remaining Defense EVs and a Bold nature allow it to take strong attacks such as Gyarados's +1 Earthquake, Tyranitar's +1 Earthquake, and two Breloom Superpowers, either attacking back or healing up. Usage Tips As Jirachi cannot heal itself immediately with Wish and there are many ways to neutralize it, such as status, Knock Off, Trick, phazing, and strong super effective attacks, Jirachi should avoid setting up early in the game. Early-game, Jirachi usually stays back and provides Wish support for its team. Jirachi should avoid taking strong attacks, such as Choice Specs Latias's Draco Meteor and Explosion, as it needs as much of its health as possible to set up later. Note that special moves such as Psychic and Thunderbolt are generally unexpected from defensive Jirachi—a set Calm Mind + Wish Jirachi can bluff with Wish—so take advantage of this to check Gengar, Breloom, and Gyarados if needed. Note that taking these Pokemon on often means Jirachi will struggle to sweep later in the game. Later on in the game, Jirachi can take advantage of passive Pokemon such as Forretress and Rotom-A and start setting up, healing off their attacks as needed. Note that it is not always optimal to get to +6, as unnecessary Calm Minds only increase the odds of the foe scoring a critical hit. For it to set up and sweep, Jirachi needs a lot of Pokemon removed. Most Pokemon in the tier can either status, phaze, or at least 3HKO Jirachi. Even weaker Pokemon like Starmie and Blissey can potentially paralyze Jirachi, interfering with its recovery. Against more offensive teams, Jirachi generally needs Trick users such as Latias and Rotom-A; bulky Steel-types such as Metagross, Jirachi, Heatran, and Scizor; and strong attackers such as Swampert, Flygon, Tyranitar, and Infernape removed before it can sweep. On more defensive teams, Encore Clefable and Roar Latias are huge problems for Jirachi, as Encore shuts it down completely, and it struggles to do any damage to Latias, even with boosted Flash Cannon. Clefable and Emploeon's Knock Off is also dangerous, making it hard to passively heal off entry hazard damage, especially if statused. Even though other Jirachi sets can struggle to beat this set, offensive Calm Mind sets can break through, and physical sets threaten paralysis, which can potentially hamper its recovery, and especially burn, which ruins Wish + Calm Mind Jirachi. However, in a last Pokemon situation, some of these methods are not as effective, such as Roar Latias, because it can no longer be phazed. Team Options Wish + Calm Mind Jirachi fits on defensive teams that appreciate the compression of a wincon and Wish support. To make a win happen, Jirachi needs a lot of support itself. Entry hazard users such as Skarmory, Forretress, and Roserade help Jirachi wear down and get past its checks in the long run. To secure these entry hazards, Ghost-types such as defensive Rotom-A or a Choice Scarf Tyranitar can help prevent Starmie from spinning; Choice Scarf Tyranitar is also fantastic to trap Latias and potentially Clefable, as well as absorbing Trick from opposing Rotom-A and Latias. Rotom-A assists Jirachi in dealing with Gyarados and spreads burn to physical attackers such as Metagross and Swampert, which can break through Jirachi. As Jirachi cannot reliably heal itself, ways to deal with Spikes are especially valuable. Forretress provides a lot of role compression as a spinner, but Starmie is also helpful in dealing with Skarmory. Swampert, Milotic, Hippowdon, defensive Heatran, Clefable, and defensive Latias all can help take defensive responsibility away from Jirachi so that it can focus on sweeping. Swampert heavily appreciates Wish support, while Milotic is especially helpful, as Jirachi is highly effective against the defensive teams Milotic struggles with once Roar Latias has been eliminated. Heatran additionally helps deal with Roar Latias and Clefable through Explosion, and it can also burn physical attackers in a similar way to Rotom-A.

Moves Calm Mind is an excellent option to take advantage of Jirachi's coverage. Psychic is Jirachi's strongest option, OHKOing Breloom and 2HKOing Machamp. It also is fantastic at dealing with bulky neutral targets such as Clefable, Flygon, and Rotom-A. Thunderbolt OHKOes Gyarados and 2HKOes most Skarmory, while Grass Knot OHKOes Swampert and Quagsire. Draco Meteor is another option to OHKO Latias after Stealth Rock at +1. Grass Knot notably hits Water-type targets such as Milotic and Suicune harder than Thunderbolt and is the best option for Tyranitar and Hippowdon. However, giving up coverage against Skarmory to use either of these moves is a big loss. The last slot is typically dedicated to Hidden Power Ground, as Jirachi has no hope to break past Heatran otherwise. After a Calm Mind, it OHKOes offensive variants after Stealth Rock damage and 2HKOes specially defensive variants. As an alternative, Hidden Power Fire is a fair option alongside Grass Knot or Draco Meteor to threaten Skarmory. Hidden Power Fire also comes with the benefit of OHKOing Scizor and Forretress after Stealth Rock. Both options are important to threaten Lucario, as they OHKO it after a Special Defense drop. If hitting Steel-types is not necessary, Jirachi can try to circumvent its other shortcomings with Iron Head. Since Jirachi does not have the same firepower as other special attackers such as Latias and Heatran, special walls such as Clefable and defensive Latias are common roadblocks that Jirachi can potentially get through with flinching. Finally, if you're running this Jirachi alongside Toxic Spikes, Protect is a possible option to accumulate poison damage on bulky Water-types and Tyranitar as well as getting additional rounds of Leftovers recovery. Set Details Speed and Special Attack are maximized to get the most out of this set's sweeping capabilities, as Jirachi is not particularly strong and wants to Speed tie with opposing Jirachi and mixed Flygon. However, Jirachi can afford to lower its Speed investment to increase its bulk, especially if it uses Hidden Power Fire due to the required 30 Speed IV. Example benchmarks include 320 Speed to outspeed Gliscor and Modest Latias and 308 Speed to outspeed Lucario, with the remaining EVs going into HP to better take on offensive Water-types such as Suicune and Empoleon after a Calm Mind. A spread of 4 HP / 32 Atk / 252 SpA / 220 Spe lets it outspeed Modest Latias and gives Jirachi great odds of 2HKOing bulkless Tyranitar. It is possible to run heavier Attack investment such as 80 Atk / 208 SpA / 220 Spe to guarantee a 2HKO on Dragon Dance Tyranitar and 96 Atk / 236 SpA / 176 Spe to 4HKO defensive Latias with Stealth Rock and sand damage. While Leftovers is often the item of choice, other possible items include Lum Berry to better withstand status and Shuca Berry to better hold off Earthquake from Metagross and Dragon Dance users. Lum Berry in particular allows Jirachi to switch into and threaten out Breloom, while Leftovers is highly helpful in giving Jirachi longevity throughout the game. Usage Tips Because Jirachi generally lacks power, it struggles to break past bulkier Pokemon; Metagross, Swampert, Tyranitar, Dragonite, opposing Jirachi, Latias, and Clefable are all able to check it if they have not been weakened properly. Therefore, Jirachi should generally be brought out late-game unless it needs to check threats such as Lucario, Gyarados, and Skarmory with its Speed and coverage. Once revealed, Jirachi should use Calm Mind on something it threatens out such as Breloom or Choice Scarf Flygon using Outrage. Jirachi can also set up on some special attackers such as Zapdos, Rotom-A, and Suicune, as it outspeeds them and can boost its Special Defense to check them. As Jirachi is commonly targeted by Trick once it starts setting up, avoid locking it into a bad move such as Calm Mind or Psychic against Tyranitar. Jirachi's versatility also makes it hard to guess what the set is, especially if it doesn't have Leftovers. Take advantage of this to hit targets such as Gyarados with Thunderbolt, Tyranitar with Iron Head after using Calm Mind, Swampert with Grass Knot, and Scizor with Hidden Power Fire. Team Options Calm Mind Jirachi fits best alongside teammates that can weaken bulkier Pokemon and special walls while also needing something to check Swords Dance Lucario. One of its best partners is Heatran, which baits in Tyranitar, Ground-types such as Swampert, Flygon, and Hippowdon, and special walls such as Clefable, Latias, and Blissey to either burn them in the case of Tyranitar and the Ground-types, hit them hard, or use Explosion. Other ways to weaken special walls such as additional Explosion lures such as Gengar and offensive Knock Off users such as Empoleon are also effective. Breloom is another great partner, as its Spore provides setup opportunities and can heavily threaten special walls. Alongside these Pokemon, Tyranitar is an excellent choice, as it can both Pursuit trap Trick users or potentially set up with Dragon Dance and weaken Pokemon such as Hippowdon, Swampert, and Metagross should Jirachi lack the coverage for them. Trick users such as Latias, Rotom-A, and Metagross can also be useful alongside Calm Mind Jirachi, as they can give setup opportunities and limit special walls. Choice Scarf Rotom-A and Latias can also further backs up Jirachi against Dragon Dance sweepers, as it isn't strong enough to stop them at full health, while Trick + Iron Ball Metagross opens up bulky Pokemon such as Zapdos and Rotom-A and can potentially use Explosion on Swampert and Hippowdon. Jirachi, especially with Iron Head, can also fit alongside more offensive options such as Dragon Dance Gyarados, Dragon Dance Dragonite, and Machamp, as it is very fast, threatens Skarmory, and enjoys these Pokemon weakening bulkier foes. Calm Mind Jirachi also fits well on Spikes offense teams as a fast, strong boosting threat. Spikes help weaken foes such as Metagross, Blissey, and Swampert, allowing Jirachi to power through them. Skarmory is the most synergistic Spiker with Jirachi, but Roserade can also work. Other good Spikes partners such as Swampert, mixed Flygon, Latias, and Choice Scarf Lucario are good teammates. Draco Meteor Jirachi is an especially great teammate for Swampert, as it can lure in and KO defensive Latias, opening up the way for Swampert.

Set Description Jirachi can go with a more immediately offensive approach with this set, which can act as a lure and be very awkward to deal with in spite of luck playing a significant part in this set's success. Paralysis is a good way to cripple what Jirachi can't hit super effectively due to four-moveslot syndrome, potentially makes missing with Dynamic Punch less punishing should full paralysis occur, and, coupled with confusion inflicted by Dynamic Punch, can make this Jirachi variant difficult to hit. Substitute is a less common option over Dynamic Punch or Body Slam that eliminates prediction and enhances Jirachi's ability to deal with Blissey by blocking its status moves and Seismic Toss, possibly allowing Jirachi to fire off multiple Dynamic Punches without worrying about missing. Fire Punch does a good amount of damage to Steel-types such as Metagross, Skarmory, Magneton, and opposing Jirachi while also threatening Celebi and Heracross. Hidden Power Grass dents Swampert and hits Claydol relatively hard. This set is extremely customizable, and there are plenty of options available. Body Slam or Thunder Wave can be dropped in favor of another coverage attack; Psychic can be considered to invalidate Gengar and do more damage to Heracross, while Thunder allows Jirachi to hit Skarmory while pressuring Milotic and Suicune more effectively and can inflict paralysis at a decent rate, though relying on another inaccurate move can lead to dicey situations. Nonetheless, Thunder provides both desirable coverage and paralysis and thus opens up another moveslot like Substitute or Hidden Power Grass. Ice Punch grants good coverage alongside Thunder and threatens Salamence and Flygon with an OHKO while dealing a good amount of damage to Zapdos, Claydol, and Celebi. The investment in Attack is needed to reliably 2HKO Blissey with Dynamic Punch. 136 EVs in Speed allow Jirachi to outrun maximum Speed Heracross and Suicune with a neutral nature. The rest is dumped into Special Attack alongside a Mild nature to maximize Jirachi's damage output with its coverage moves. The EV spread is highly customizable. Maximum Speed with or without a Hasty nature can be considered to outspeed other base 100 Speed Pokemon such as Salamence, Zapdos, Celebi, and Flygon that choose not to maximize their Speed stat as well. Other relevant benchmarks include 32 EVs to outspeed maximum Speed Tyranitar and 56 EVs to get the jump over maximum Speed Adamant Claydol. If using Substitute, running 252 EVs in HP ensures that the Substitute can stand a Seismic Toss. Leftovers is the item of choice to increase Jirachi's longevity, which can be important against bulky teams. Team Options Jirachi greatly appreciates sand to get some notable KOs and another source of passive damage that adds up to the confusion induced by Dynamic Punch. Therefore, Tyranitar is a teammate of choice that in return will greatly appreciate Jirachi's ability to potentially lure out and cripple the likes of Swampert, Flygon, and Metagross. Pursuit variants can also threaten Pokemon such as Gengar and Celebi that can be awkward for Jirachi to fight due to their access to Will-O-Wisp and Leech Seed, respectively, as well as Jirachi's inability to scare them off most of the time. Zapdos is another good partner due to its typing synergy with Jirachi and ability to scare off Milotic, which can be difficult for Jirachi to break through. In return, Jirachi can potentially heavily damage Tyranitar, Blissey, and Snorlax, something that Zapdos greatly appreciates. Since Jirachi is prone to being trapped and taken out by Dugtrio and targeted by strong Earthquake users in general, other hovering Pokemon such as Salamence, Gengar, and Flygon that can take advantage of Pokemon locked into Earthquake can be considered. Spikers such as Skarmory and Cloyster provide yet another form of residual damage that Jirachi appreciates when trying to break through bulky Pokemon. Finally, since this Jirachi can take several Pokemon such as Swampert, Flygon, and Suicune by surprise and badly cripple them with paralysis or its coverage move, late-game sweepers such as Dragon Dance variants of Tyranitar and Salamence as well as Agility Metagross can benefit from Jirachi's wallbreaking abilities.

Set Description Jirachi is the only Steel-type in the game with a reliable recovery move in the form of Wish. This trait coupled with its solid bulk allows Jirachi to serve as a durable answer to specially offensive Pokemon such as Zapdos, non-Will-O-Wisp Gengar, Starmie, and Jolteon while also being able to pivot in on Choice Band users such as Salamence, Metagross, Tyranitar, and Aerodactyl, something that Blissey, the main special wall of the metagame, cannot do. Wish also enables Jirachi to heal its teammates, making it a strong team player. Protect makes Wish safer to use, scouts which move Choice Band users lock themselves into, and allows Jirachi to gain extra health from Leftovers, as the recovery cannot be negated by sand. Fire Punch hurts opposing Steel-types to make sure that Jirachi cannot be easily trapped and worn down by Magneton and doesn't let Skarmory and Forretress set Spikes up too freely. Thanks to Serene Grace and Jirachi's longevity, it can also fish for burns by spamming Fire Punch, which can be very rewarding if it manages to catch the likes of Tyranitar and Swampert looking for free opportunities to get onto the field. Jirachi can make full use of its ability with Body Slam's increased paralysis chance. An important application of this move is against Dugtrio, as Jirachi is likely to survive an Earthquake from full health and can win one-on-one by paralyzing Dugtrio with Body Slam and getting rid of it with another afterwards. Toxic is an alternative that allows Jirachi to cripple Pokemon such as non-Refresh Swampert and can be spread fairly easily due to Jirachi's ability to scare off most Poison-immune Pokemon with Fire Punch. Toxic is especially awkward for Pokemon such as Tyranitar, which doesn't mind being paralyzed nearly as much depending on its set, but should be kept in mind that dropping Body Slam makes Jirachi much weaker to Dugtrio. Leftovers is the item of choice for any defensively oriented Pokemon. The given EV spread allows Jirachi to take an Earthquake from +1 Adamant Salamence while being able to tank most special hits with ease. Another option is 128 EVs in Defense, which guarantees that Jirachi can take an Earthquake from Choice Band Adamant Dugtrio. Should Jirachi be running Toxic instead of Body Slam, the nature of choice should be Calm instead of Sassy, and it is an option to invest up to 32 EVs in Speed in order to outspeed maximum Speed Tyranitar and Swampert. Alternatively, with more EVs in Defense and a Bold nature, Jirachi can sit in front of defensive Swampert and slowly wear it down with Toxic, at the cost of giving up Jirachi's ability to wall most specially offensive threats. Team Options Defensive Jirachi fits well into a variety of bulky teams where it can support its teammates with Wish. Pokemon that appreciate this kind of help include all-out offensive or Choice Band variants of Tyranitar and Salamence as well as defensive teammates like Suicune, Swampert, Forretress, and Claydol. Suicune and Swampert in particular greatly appreciate Jirachi's ability to switch into Choice Band users like Aerodactyl and Salamence locked into Hidden Power Flying or Double-Edge, as it can ease the offensive pressure they have to handle. This help is enhanced by Wish, which can enable them to take care of most variants of Tyranitar, Salamence, Metagross, and Flygon that tend to threaten Jirachi. Skarmory is also a good teammate, as it can obtain free layers of Spikes by switching onto Earthquakes aimed at Jirachi while enjoying Wish to back it up. Unlike Blissey, defensive Jirachi doesn't mind Focus Punch or Explosion from Gengar, but it lacks Natural Cure and thus wants to avoid Will-O-Wisp and Thunder Wave from the various threats it is supposed to handle. Therefore, specific answers such as Flygon, which generally has the upper hand against Thunder Wave Zapdos and can switch into Earthquake aimed at Jirachi, and Pursuit Tyranitar, which can usually afford to take Will-O-Wisp from Gengar and proceed to pressure it on top of providing additional passive damage for Jirachi to take advantage of through sand, are two teammates of choice. Jirachi is a frequent member on teams that use many hovering Pokemon to avoid Spikes damage due to simultaneously having a Rock-type resistance, the bulk for tanking Electric-type attacks, and Wish support. Zapdos frequently features on these teams due to forming a specially defensive synergistic core with Jirachi by dealing with almost all Electric- and Water-types and pivoting into Metagross. Jirachi is also setup fodder for Curse Snorlax and bulky variants of Calm Mind sweepers like Suicune. As a result, it is a good idea to pack a phazer like Zapdos, Tyranitar, Perish Song Celebi, or, once again, Skarmory. Jirachi is also unable to break through Refresh users such as Swampert and Milotic, so packing something that can take advantage of these such as Celebi, Cloyster, or, to a lesser extent, Skarmory is a good idea. More offensive Pokemon that enjoy Jirachi's ability to spread paralysis such as Heracross, Machamp, Marowak, and Rhydon can also be considered.

Set Description With this set, Jirachi can turn into a bulky sweeper that can easily use Blissey as setup fodder and become very difficult to safely remove from the game. It makes for a great stallbreaker that is very difficult for defensive cores featuring the likes of Skarmory, Blissey, Milotic, and Claydol to handle. Wish may seem like a risky choice when not backed up by Protect, but it is reliable enough to take advantage of a lot of passive Pokemon in the metagame. Furthermore, the boost in Special Defense offered by Calm Mind increases the number of Pokemon on which Jirachi can set up. For instance, Timid Zapdos is unable to 4HKO this Jirachi variant after a Calm Mind, giving it plenty of opportunities to heal itself with Wish if Zapdos doesn't have Roar. Another noteworthy application of Wish is against Dugtrio, as Jirachi can use Wish when Dugtrio switches in, stomach the first Earthquake, survive a second once it has been healed by Wish, and proceed to get rid of Dugtrio within the two turns. With only two moveslots for offensive options, this Jirachi variant may prefer Ice Punch and either Thunder or Thunderbolt to retain near-perfect coverage with two attacking moves. Due to its increased longevity with this set, Jirachi may value the universal coverage and the possibility to fish for freeze and paralysis thanks to Serene Grace over the immediate firepower, as it will likely get more Calm Mind boosts under its belt and can afford to miss Thunder at some point. Calm Mind-boosted Ice Punch also has the benefit of immediately threatening fast Earthquake users such as Dugtrio, Salamence, and Flygon that cannot OHKO Jirachi before getting OHKOed in return, while Thunder has a relatively high chance to inflict paralysis and gives Jirachi the upper hand against phazers such as Skarmory and Suicune. Nonetheless, Psychic remains an option, as it can discourage Heracross and Gengar, and the damage difference can be significant when dealing with Snorlax. Thunderbolt is a safer alternative to Thunder, while Fire Punch threatens Steel-types and Celebi and can be spammed to inflict burns, which can be really awkward for a Tyranitar attempting to take advantage of a Jirachi that can't hit it at least neutrally. Hidden Power Grass remains an option if getting rid of Swampert and damaging Tyranitar is a priority, at the cost of leaving Jirachi with otherwise severely lacking coverage. Leftovers is crucial to this set's success, as its recovery isn't negated by sand. The given spread gives Jirachi as much physical bulk as possible and enables it to outspeed maximum Speed Tyranitar, which, in tandem with Special Defense boosts from Calm Mind, makes it very sturdy overall. Most notably, the physical bulk lets Jirachi endure powerful Earthquakes, the most common way to take it out. For instance, Adamant Salamence, Metagross, and Tyranitar all fail to 2HKO Jirachi with Earthquake. However, giving it more Special Defense can be useful to set up on Pokemon such as Zapdos, Gengar, and Suicune more easily. Team Options Jirachi performs well alongside Suicune, which can handle the various Earthquake users such as Tyranitar, Metagross, Salamence, Aerodactyl, and Flygon most of time. Suicune also appreciates Wish support to help it deal with the aforementioned threats and Jirachi's ability to switch in on their STAB attacks if they're packing a Choice Band. Consequently, Pokemon that can take advantage of Earthquake aimed at Jirachi such as Gengar, Zapdos, Salamence, and Flygon are good partners. Choice Band Salamence in particular is a noteworthy Wish recipient. Other Pokemon that allow Jirachi to sweep more easily and benefit from Wish include Spikers such as Skarmory, spinners like Claydol, and Tyranitar, which provides help against Snorlax and Suicune in the case of a Calm Mind war by virtue of sand and potentially Roar. As this Jirachi set lacks coverage moves, Dugtrio is a good partner to remove Tyranitar, Metagross, and opposing Jirachi. It also helps against Celebi and Magneton, the latter of which could try to cripple Jirachi with Thunder Wave. Finally, Jirachi may expose itself to Thunder Wave from the likes of Blissey and Zapdos and Will-O-Wisp from Gengar while trying to set up. Therefore, Heal Bell support from Pokemon like Blissey can be considered to alleviate this issue.

Set Description With its immunity to sand and base 100 HP stat, Jirachi makes good use of Substitute. This move allows it to set up on the likes of Blissey, which notably cannot break its Substitute with Seismic Toss, Milotic, some variants of Snorlax and Zapdos, and Porygon2 without having to worry about a potential paralysis. It also shuts down Celebi's attempts to cripple it with Leech Seed, and if Jirachi manages to keep the Substitute, it can defeat its usual revenge killers, most notably Dugtrio. After two Calm Mind boosts, the Substitute is able to tank a Thunderbolt from Zapdos and a Fire Punch from Gengar. Psychic is recommended on this set, as the raw power and potential drop in Special Defense made more likely by Serene Grace really improve the matchup against Blissey and Snorlax, and directly threatening Pokemon like Gengar and Heracross can also make a significant difference. Fire Punch is usually the preferred coverage move in the last slot, as it hits important targets such as Skarmory, Metagross, Celebi, Magneton, and opposing Jirachi super effectively. While the inability to hit Tyranitar neutrally is bothersome, the chance of burning it with Fire Punch is something to keep in mind. Thunderbolt is an option that hits Suicune, Skarmory, and Moltres very hard. It pairs well with Ice Punch, which can be used over Psychic, as it directly threatens Salamence and Flygon and is Jirachi's best special attack to damage Claydol. While it offers near-perfect coverage alongside Thunder or Thunderbolt, dropping Psychic makes Jirachi less likely to get past Blissey and Snorlax. Hidden Power Grass is an option if getting past Swampert and, to a lesser extent, Tyranitar is really necessary, but it comes with huge coverage issues. With the given EV spread, Jirachi's Substitute doesn't fall to a Seismic Toss from Blissey or a Thunderbolt from defensive Zapdos after a Calm Mind. The investment in Defense ensures that Jirachi can stomach an Earthquake from Choice Band Dugtrio from full health. 136 EVs in Speed let Jirachi outspeed Adamant Heracross, and the remaining EVs are dumped into Special Attack with a Modest nature to hit relatively hard. 148 Speed EVs with a Timid nature are enough to outspeed neutral-natured Pokemon sitting at base 100 Speed such as Salamence, Zapdos, and Celebi. Other Speed benchmarks include 176 EVs to get the edge over Moltres. Leftovers is the mandatory item, as the recovery provided allows Jirachi to get more attempts to use Substitute. Team Options Tyranitar provides residual damage in the form of sand, which helps Jirachi immensely against Blissey, Snorlax, and Suicune. Tyranitar can also check these by itself in a pinch. Dugtrio's ability to trap and remove troublesome Pokemon such as Tyranitar, Metagross, Snorlax, opposing Jirachi, and weakened Blissey can be key to this set's success. Snorlax does a good job luring in Tyranitar and Metagross and can put them into KO range of Jirachi with Focus Punch, Self-Destruct, or Earthquake, and it might even manage to take them out entirely with Curse + Self-Destruct. Sleep inducers such as Breloom and Venusaur can cripple the likes of Claydol and Tyranitar should the opponent think that they can essentially sacrifice them instead of a seemingly more important Pokemon, which is highly beneficial for Jirachi. Jirachi is a prime candidate on teams focused around Calm Mind sweepers, as it can weaken or take advantage of the likes of Blissey, non-Perish Song Celebi, and Snorlax, which tend to be troublesome for this kind of team. Consequently, Suicune and Celebi make good partners, as they can damage their shared checks and provide an appealing defensive presence against the likes of Tyranitar, Swampert, and Metagross, which usually keep Jirachi in check. Fire-types such as Moltres and Charizard are also pretty effective at pressuring physical offense teams featuring the aforementioned threats. In return, Jirachi can take advantage of walls like Milotic and Blissey, which give Fire-types trouble. On the other hand, Tyranitar and Swampert are also good partners, as they tend to attract opposing Swampert and can badly damage it with Hidden Power Grass, something that Jirachi greatly appreciates. Finally, while Jirachi can take out faster Pokemon such as Aerodactyl, Jolly Salamence, Flygon, and especially Dugtrio if it's covered by Substitute, these can still threaten it with a powerful Earthquake if that's not the case. Thus, Pokemon that can take advantage of these once they're locked into Earthquake such as Gengar, Zapdos, and Salamence, as well as general physically defensive Pokemon such as Swampert and Suicune, can be good backups.

Ice Punch and Thunderbolt can be run over the two aforementioned coverage moves, since they complement each other very well and can drastically change some matchups in Jirachi's favor; Ice Punch OHKOes Salamence and most Flygon while keeping the ability to hit Celebi and Claydol super effectively, while Thunderbolt threatens Gyarados and Moltres with a potential OHKO after a Calm Mind, hits Skarmory harder than Fire Punch, and enhances Jirachi's chances of winning a Calm Mind war against Suicune. If having more than two of these coverage moves is desired, it is possible to drop Psychic, but keep in mind that this Jirachi variant typically wants to deal the greatest amount of damage it can as soon as possible. An alternative spread of 248 HP / 40 Def / 152 SpA / 68 Spe with a Modest nature can be considered to ensure that Jirachi can stomach an Earthquake from Choice Band Dugtrio and +1 Tyranitar at full health while outspeeding maximum Speed Tyranitar, most Celebi, and some Suicune. 32 EVs in Speed is all you need to get the edge over maximum Speed Tyranitar, though, so you can drop some and invest more into Special Attack instead. Leftovers improves Jirachi's longevity and ability to enter the field throughout the match. Team Options This variant of Jirachi has trouble getting past Thunder Wave Blissey. Thus, Dugtrio is a good partner to trap and eliminate it as well as other problematic Pokemon such as Tyranitar, Metagross, and Magneton; this is especially beneficial for Ice Punch + Thunderbolt variants, which tend to struggle against the aforementioned Pokemon. Conversely, Jirachi is prone to being removed if it gets trapped by Choice Band Dugtrio. Therefore, packing several targets of Dugtrio's coverage moves like Heracross and Celebi is a viable strategy when backed up by a Dugtrio of your own, as the opposing Dugtrio can be safely removed when locked into its weaker attacking moves, thus opening the field for Jirachi and its teammates. Similarly, while Porygon2 doesn't threaten Blissey, Tyranitar, and Metagross, it can trap and remove an opposing Dugtrio locked into any of its moves, which can be very useful if Jirachi's teammates are vulnerable to Earthquake as well. Having one or several Pokemon that can punish a Dugtrio locked into Earthquake such as Salamence, Zapdos, Aerodactyl, and Gengar can prove to be beneficial. Pairing Jirachi with Explosion Gengar, Regice, or Weezing to lure Blissey in and damage it heavily is also a good idea, especially when backed up by Dugtrio to ensure Blissey's downfall. Heracross and Metagross also make good partners, as they can pivot in on and heavily pressure the likes of Blissey, Snorlax, and Celebi, which tend to be awkward for Jirachi to fight. Snorlax can also switch nicely into most Blissey and damage the likes of Tyranitar and Metagross with Self-Destruct, Earthquake, or Focus Punch. Another way to wear down the aforementioned foes is to set up Spikes with Pokemon such as Cloyster and Skarmory, one layer of which guarantees the 2HKO on Tyranitar with +1 Hidden Power Grass. Pokemon such as Roar or Baton Pass Zapdos, Jolteon, and Moltres can take advantage of Spikes to weaken Blissey and therefore make Jirachi more dangerous. Jirachi is also a good candidate for teams focused on Calm Mind alongside sweepers such as Celebi, Suicune, and, to a lesser extent, Raikou, as together they can play around and eventually overpower their shared foes.
