Choice Scarf Passimian is an excellent fast offensive pivot and revenge killer thanks to its strong STAB attacks, good physical bulk, and Stealth Rock resistance. Passimian OHKOes fast offensive threats like Sneasel and can KO Hisuian Sneasel after Spikes damage or a Defense drop. Knock Off makes Mesprit and Froslass unsafe switch-ins to Passimian, and it makes helpful progress by removing items from defensive checks like Weezing and Spiritomb. U-turn lets Passimian keep up momentum against switch-ins like Dipplin and Sableye. Earthquake is Passimian's best coverage move for Poison-types like Neutralizing Gas Weezing, Hisuian Sneasel, and Muk. Gunk Shot OHKOes Whimsicott, is Passimian's best move against Dipplin, and keeps Passimian offensively relevant against Tera Fairy users like Jolteon. Tera Fighting allows Passimian to outright OHKO offensive foes like Virizion and Typhlosion and 2HKO defensive foes like Regirock and Sandaconda with Close Combat after one layer of Spikes. Tera Dark improves Passimian's matchups against Mesprit and Farigiraf, powers up Knock Off to hurt Spiritomb more, and denies Prankster-boosted moves from Sableye. Defiant is Passimian's only viable ability, but it's useful punishing Sticky Web teams. Passimian punishing Defog with Defiant and removing Heavy-Duty Boots with Knock Off makes it a great team player for entry hazard-stacking teams that include Orthworm or Sandslash. Passimian's momentum is greatly appreciated by wallbreakers like Typhlosion, Clawitzer, and Alolan Exeggutor. Passimian luring in physically defensive Pokemon like Sandaconda and Dipplin enables partners like Mesprit and Whimsicott to take advantage of them when Passimian pivots out with U-turn, and in turn, Passimian threatens Steel-types like Orthworm and Magneton for them. Ghost-types like Rotom and Froslass can exploit Passimian locked into Close Combat, Earthquake, or Gunk Shot, so teammates like Cryogonal and Naclstack are great teammates. Likewise, Passimian appreciates specially offensive teammates like Mesprit, Farigiraf, and Typhlosion that can exploit physically defensive Pokemon like Weezing and Dipplin that it lures in. Once Passimian can form pivot cores with Pokemon like Jolteon, Magneton, and Whimsicott, it can trap foes in the vortex and wear down mutual Ground-type checks such as Sandaconda and Sandslash. Physical wallbreakers like Choice Band Sneasel and Swords Dance Lycanroc can open up holes in defensive cores to pave the way for Passimian to clean up late-game.

Set Details Knock Off weakens and cripples common checks in Talonflame, Weezing, and Sylveon, making it easier to wallbreak later on. Gunk Shot primarily targets Sylveon, though it is also a strong, non-contact move that eases prediction against teams with status ailment abilities or Rocky Helmet users. Alternatively, Rock Slide OHKOes Talonflame and can induce flinching against foes such as Xatu and Mantine. Earthquake may also be a coverage option, specifically targeting Garbodor, a road block for Passimian. Due to Passimian's reliance on contact moves, clerics in Diancie, Sylveon, and Vaporeon are excellent partners to prevent foes like Vileplume and Talonflame from punishing it with their abilities. Partners such as Escavalier, Salazzle, and Xatu can help to accommodate for Passimian's weaknesses to Poison-, Fairy-, and Flying-types. Furthermore, protection against Salazzle and Silvally-Ground is necessary, since they can exploit Passimian if it locks into a bad move. As such, defensive staples such as Vaporeon and Mantine are appreciated. Offensive partners such as Rotom-C and Decidueye can also help form offensive cycles to pressure the opposing team, with the latter's checks overlapping with many of Passimian's.

Set Details Knock Off prevents Psychic- and Ghost-types like Xatu, Starmie, and Golurk from safely switching in on a predicted Close Combat. Rock Slide hits Flying- and Bug-types like Talonflame and Ninjask. Gunk Shot is an option over Rock Slide to hit Fairy-types like Sylveon. Earthquake is also an option in the last moveslot to hit Poison-types like Toxicroak, Garbodor, and Salazzle, notably OHKOing the latter as compared to Rock Slide. Poison- and Steel-types like Garbodor, Escavalier, and Copperajah can switch into Fairy-types like Sylveon and Diancie. They all also provide entry hazard support to help wear down Pokemon and allow Passimian to pick up KOs. Rock-types such as Aerodactyl, Diancie, and Tyrantrum are appreciated to deal with Flying-types like Ninjask, Xatu, and Talonflame. Although Passimian has Knock Off for Psychic-types, running a Dark-type like Guzzlord or Drapion is encouraged to help with Pokemon like Starmie and Decidueye. Passimian helps Dark-types deal with opposing Dark-types they struggle to break with Close Combat. Psychic-types also make great teammates, as they can KO Poison-types like Salazzle, Vileplume, and Weezing. Wallbreakers like Choice Specs Exploud, Golurk, and Silvally-Ground appreciate opportunities to come into play with U-turn. Pokemon like Sylveon, Vaporeon, and Diancie are useful clerics to remove status ailments with Heal Bell.

Moves Close Combat is Passimian's strongest STAB option, letting it deal massive damage to the majority of neutral targets in the tier. U-turn acts as a great momentum provider, allowing Passimian to pivot out against the threats that intend to check it, such as Slowking and Palossand, as well as provide useful pivoting utility for its team. Knock Off is a great coverage option that lets Passimian hit Ghost- and Psychic-types, which otherwise check Passimian due to them being immune or resistant to its STAB attack. It also provides the extra utility of removing items, such as Eviolite from threats like Golbat and Rhydon, letting Passimian provide useful support for its teammates and wallbreak more easily later on in the match. Gunk Shot is a great coverage move to deal massive damage against Fairy-types such as Whimsicott and Mega Audino, which otherwise annoy Passimian. Earthquake can be run to let Passimian safely revenge kill Calm Mind Delphox and is Passimian's best form of damage against Garbodor. Rock Slide can also be run to hit Golbat, Vikavolt, and Delphox super effectively. Set Details EVs are fully invested in Attack and Speed with a Jolly nature to enhance Passimian's wallbreaking capabilities. A Choice Scarf cements Passimian's role as a formidable revenge killer, enabling it to outspeed the majority of the unboosted metagame and threaten out other offensive Pokemon with its powerful STAB attacks and great coverage. Defiant, although situational, lets Passimian switch into moves like Silvally-Steel's Parting Shot and Rotom's Defog, providing it with a +2 Attack boost. Usage Tips Passimian is generally utilized to provide momentum for its team when utilizing a Choice Scarf, as its ability to force switches enables it to pivot out against the majority of threats with ease thanks to U-turn. While it is generally preferred to pivot out versus the opposing threat, Passimian should also be mindful if the foe decides to stay in, in which case using one of its coverage moves may be more desirable. However, it must be mindful of mindlessly spamming its STAB move in Close Combat, as it can often leave it in a predicament where it is forced to switch out, as threats such as Rotom, Weezing, and Palossand can easily come in and gain momentum. Passimian should take advantage of its typing and good physical bulk to pivot into threats like Incineroar, Aerodactyl, and Absol. Knock Off is a great move that can be spammed the majority of the time when Passimian is not pivoting out via U-turn, as Knock Off can even cripple threats that resist it by removing useful items from Pokemon like Weezing, Whimsicott, and Vaporeon. Team Options Wallbreakers that appreciate Passimian's ability to provide momentum such as Heliolisk, Sceptile, and Aerodactyl can be useful, as they are able to come onto the battlefield more reliably as a result. Aerodactyl is especially useful in Pursuit trapping Ghost-types that can otherwise dissuade Passimian from spamming its STAB attack. Entry hazard setters like Steelix, Ferroseed, and Rhydon all aid Passimian in wearing down opposing walls through entry hazard chip damage, letting it revenge kill threats more reliably. Pokemon such as Garbodor, Rotom, and Incineroar can switch into the Fairy-, Flying-, and Psychic-types that threaten Passimian like Whimsicott, Braviary, and Sigilyph. Garbodor also provides entry hazard setting support, while Rotom can remove them. Partners that can take on Flying-types like Sneasel and Aerodactyl can help Passimian deal with threatening Pokemon such as Braviary, Golbat, and Vivillon. Dark-types such as Guzzlord and Incineroar can also help check Psychic-types that can threaten Passimian, while Passimian can break through opposing Dark-types in return. Grass-types like Sceptile, Whimsicott, and Dhelmise can all break through Passimian's most common checks, such as Palossand and defensive Slowking, letting it wallbreak more easily. Sceptile is especially useful in wearing down opposing physical walls for Passimian, while Passimian can take on Sceptile's checks such as Incineroar and Ferroseed in return. Other U-turn and Volt Switch users such as Heliolisk, Vikavolt, and Xatu can form formidable VoltTurn cores alongside Passimian, applying great offensive pressure onto the opposing team as they proceed to pivot out against incoming switch-ins.

Moves Close Combat is Passimian's strongest STAB move that punches holes in anything that doesn't resist it. U-turn can allow Passimian to escape a potentially bad matchup such as against Slowbro, Cresselia, or Necrozma. Knock Off is a fantastic move that removes the items from defensive checks such as Golbat, Sigilyph, and Florges. Earthquake provides a wide amount of coverage and hits Pokemon such as Nidoqueen, Toxicroak, and Dragalge very hard. Rock Slide can be used instead to deal super effective damage to Pokemon such as Noivern, Golisopod, and Mantine. Set Details With the given EV spread and a Choice Band, Passimian can power through Pokemon that normally aren't threatened by the Choice Scarf set such as Donphan, Milotic, and Diancie while still being able to outspeed Pokemon such as Bewear, Tyrantrum, and Mega Blastoise and Speed tie with Choice Specs Gardevoir. Defiant allows Passimian to come in against Defog users such as Mandibuzz and Mantine and Sticky Web in order to boost its Attack. Usage Tips Passimian is a powerful wallbreaker that can be used throughout a game. It can spam Knock Off to cripple defensive checks, pivot with U-turn early-game, and potentially clean up late-game if its checks and counters are gone. Bring Passimian in against Pokemon it resists attacks from such as Golisopod and Mega Blastoise. Another method is to try to bring Passimian in against a Defog user such as Mandibuzz or Mantine so that it can gain an Attack boost and punish anything that attempts to come in against it. This play can be rather risky, as the Defog user could predict this and go for a move such as Brave Bird or Scald instead. Because Passimian forces a lot of switches, it can be a good idea to go for a coverage move to catch a defensive check to Close Combat off guard, use Knock Off to remove an item, or pivot with U-turn to bring in a partner better suited to dealing with said threat. Be aware of using Close Combat because not only does the move only have 8 PP, but the defense drops can make Passimian easier to revenge kill. Keep Passimian away from status conditions, as they can shorten its time wallbreaking. Team Options Special attackers such as Raikou, Ninetales, and Mega Sceptile appreciate Passimian's ability to threaten special walls so that they have an easier time sweeping late-game. Salazzle is another great partner, since it can threaten Fairy-types for Passimian. Other offensive Pokemon such as Gardevoir, Swellow, and Shaymin love Passimian's ability to threaten Steel-types so that they can spam their STAB moves more often. Gardevoir can also help Passimian by pressuring Poison-types and providing Healing Wish support. Because Passimian can pivot with U-turn, wallbreakers such as Mismagius, Necrozma, and Zygarde-10% appreciate being brought in safely into battle. Other Pokemon such as Ribombee, Noivern, and Forretress can form a pivoting core with Passimian. Entry hazard setters such as Necrozma, Golisopod, and Roserade love that Passimian can pressure Defog users with Defiant so that their entry hazards stay in battle. Sticky Web users such as Araquanid, Ribombee, and Galvantula can also make Passimian extra threatening. Passimian appreciates support from Pokemon such as Drapion, Tyrantrum, and Donphan, as they can pressure the Fairy-, Flying-, and Poison-types that give it trouble. Anti-offense Pokemon such as Golisopod, Choice Scarf Noivern, and Mega Sceptile can help Passimian by revenge killing Pokemon faster than Passimian that would revenge kill it, which makes its time wallbreaking much easier.

Moves Close Combat is Passimian's strongest STAB attack and relatively safe to use. However, it does drop Passimian's defenses with each use, which can leave it vulnerable to being revenge killed by Pokemon it can't KO. U-turn is important so that Passimian escapes bad matchups against Pokemon like Slowbro, Cresselia, Gardevoir, Noivern, and Palossand as they attempt to switch in. Earthquake hits Poison-types such as Salazzle, Nidoqueen, Toxicroak, and Dragalge much harder than its other moves. Rock Slide can be run instead to hit Pokemon that resist Close Combat such as Golisopod and Noivern. Gunk Shot is also ideal for catching Fairy-types such as Gardevoir and Florges and Grass-types such as Virizion and Shaymin off guard. Knock Off is another move to consider, since it removes the items from a defensive check such as Golbat, Sigilyph, and Florges. Set Details With a Choice Scarf and proper investment, Passimian can outspeed Pokemon such as Raikou, Salazzle, and non-Choice Scarf Noivern and Speed tie with Choice Scarf Gardevoir. Defiant is the best ability to run to pressure Defog users such as Mandibuzz and Articuno as well as Sticky Web users like Ribombee and Araquanid. Usage Tips Passimian's ability to force switches along with its access to U-turn to escape bad matchups is why it is a successful pivot in RU. It may have good bulk, but Passimian should not be used to take powerful attacks because it gets worn down enough by switching directly into entry hazards and even resisted hits. Because of this, try to bring Passimian in as a lead, after a teammate has fainted, or against more passive Pokemon such as Registeel. When making the play to come in against a passive Pokemon, be careful of potentially switching into a status move such as Toxic. Passimian's defensive typing can also be utilized to switch into Pokemon it can tank hits from such as Golisopod, Tyrantrum, and Mega Blastoise. If the foe decides to switch against Passimian, it would be wise to go for a coverage move to catch a predicted switch-in off guard, use Knock Off to remove items from a defensive switch-in, or simply use Close Combat. Although Close Combat is easy to spam, keep the drop to its defenses in mind, as they make Passimian much easier to revenge kill; be mindful of potential defensive switch-ins such as Slowbro, Gardevoir, and Golisopod as well. Knock Off is also a great move to spam throughout the game due to its lack of drawbacks and potential to remove items from defensive Pokemon like Bronzong and Golbat. If the foe is weakened enough, Passimian can act as a cleaner with its Choice Scarf. Because it needs its Choice Scarf to revenge kill and pivot successfully, Passimian needs to avoid Knock Off early- or mid-game. However, Passimian's resistance to the move can be valuable late-game if it can't do much else or has nothing left to revenge kill. Passimian also appreciates Spikes and Toxic Spikes cleared on its side, since it needs to be as healthy as it can to continue to play its part. Team Options Passimian's pivoting abilities are greatly appreciated by slow wallbreakers such as Tyrantrum, Bewear, and Gardevoir and setup sweepers such as Raikou, Salazzle, and Virizion. Virizion can also create a Fighting spam core alongside Passimian, while Raikou, Salazzle, and Gardevoir can pressure physically defensive Pokemon for Passimian, making its time revenge killing and pivoting much easier. Entry hazard setters such as Metagross, Golisopod, and Roserade love Passimian's ability to pressure Defog users like Mandibuzz and Mantine. Metagross can also double as a Flying-, Psychic-, and Fairy-resistant teammate for Passimian. Sticky Web setters such as Araquanid and Ribombee can also make Passimian even more threatening by providing extra speed control. On the same note, an entry hazard remover such as Mega Blastoise, Forretress, or Tsareena is a good idea, since they can clear entry hazards away from Passimian's side, allowing it to pivot much more throughout the game. Passimian also needs defensive checks such as Slowbro, Gardevoir, and Golbat out of the way so it can have an easier time revenge killing. Teammates such as Shaymin, Drapion, and Rhyperior can help Passimian with that. A pivoting core can also be considered to allow Passimian's team to gain and keep offensive momentum. Partners like Yanmega, Forretress, and Ribombee can be paired for this reasoning. Ribombee can also lure in Steel-types for Passimian. Pokemon such as Necrozma, Slowbro, and Noivern greatly appreciate Passimian's defensive presence. Clerics like Florges, Diancie, and Vaporeon and Healing Wish users like Shaymin and Gardevoir can heal Passimian in case it has sustained prior damage.
