Pecharunt Movesets & Competitive Sets

Malignant Chain can seriously threaten Iron Valiant and Ogerpon-W. It also has the added bonus of having a high chance of poisoning which can wear down bulky Pokemon without relying on Curse, and it can also trigger Poison Puppeteer to provide decent odds to win otherwise losing matches with confusion. Curse lets Pecharunt whittle down any foe behind Substitute regardless of typing, including Body Press Corviknight, Registeel, and SubSeed Ogerpon-W. The combination of Parting Shot and Recover lets Pecharunt neutralize virtually all non-Taunt, neutrally effective attackers like non-Choice Specs Primarina and Choice Scarf Haxorus while keeping Pecharunt healthy. The Speed investment lets Pecharunt outspeed Body Press and PP stall Corviknight. The remaining EVs are in HP and Special Defense for overall bulk. Leftovers provides consistent healing in every matchup but also lets Pecharunt avoid being PP stalled by Taunt + Body Press Corviknight. Leftovers is also chosen over Black Sludge to continue to provide healing after a Soak from Bellibolt. Against most Pokemon, Parting Shot should be used early to mitigate damage. Even against Encore Primarina, as after a few Parting Shots, Primarina won't be able to do substantial damage and Pecharunt will PP stall Encore out. Against SubSeed Ogerpon-W, Curse shouldn't be used until after Parting Shot has been used to minimize the damage from Ivy Cudgel so that Curse can be used safely. Against Volcarona and other Pokemon that may be able to OHKO Pecharunt, it's better to use Malignant Chain instead and play for a confusion from Poison Puppeteer.

Against SubSeed Ogerpon-W, Curse shouldn't be used until after Parting Shot to minimize the damage from Ivy Cudgel so that Curse can be used safely. Despite Air Balloon, Pecharunt still struggles with Ground-types like Landorus-I, Life Orb Landorus-T, and or Attack Booster Great Tusk, so pairing it with a Water- or Ice-type like Primarina or Chien-Pao can be helpful.

This Pecharunt set makes the best out of its combination of Parting Shot and Clear Amulet to wall any Pokemon with moves that can drop stats, like Fake Tears Sylveon, Acid Spray Hisuian Goodra, and Icy Wind Primarina while still dealing with other common threats like Ogerpon-W. Malignant Chain is capable of threatening Grass- and Fairy-type Pokémon like Ogerpon-W, Whimsicott, and Sylveon, with the 50% chance to badly poison the target being able to work on all sorts of Pokemon when combined with Poison Puppeteer's confusion. Curse helps Pecharunt beat Hisuian Goodra, the common Registeel, and Substitute users like Ogerpon-W. Parting Shot helps Pecharunt deal with special attackers like the previously mentioned Hisuian Goodra, Sylveon, and Primarina without fearing Encore from the last one while also helping it against physical attackers like Iron Hands. Recover is an important tool that helps Pecharunt do everything that was previously mentioned with great consistency. Pecharunt's Speed EVs outspeed Modest Primarina, with the rest invested into its Special Defense and HP for stalling. Pecharunt is mostly found in teams that value its stalling prowess and important Poison typing, which helps it deal with Fairy-type Pokemon, so it's usually paired with offensive Pokemon like Hoopa-U and Primarina.

This Pecharunt set searches to maximize its weak Special Defense to wall common threats such as Choice Specs users like Kyurem and Raging Bolt while still dealing with other common threats like Ogerpon-W and Primarina. Recover is a great tool that helps it do everything that was previously mentioned with great longevity. It also helps when it needs to activate Maranga Berry on the first turn when the opposing Pokemon deals too much damage pre-Maranga Berry boost like Special Attack Booster Energy Raging Bolt. Its Speed EVs are meant to let it outspeed Modest Primarina, with the rest invested into its Special Defense and HP for stalling. Pecharunt is usually found on teams that value its defensive capabilities, stalling potential, and Poison typing, so it's usually paired with offensive Pokemon like Ogerpon-W and both Urshifu formes.

Pecharunt boasts impeccable defensive stats, excellent move synergy, and a great type combination, performing really well against offense-oriented types like Fairy and Fire. Malignant Chain forces immense progress in conjunction with Poison Puppeteer and Hex as well as threatening various Fairy-types as a bonus. As mentioned earlier, Hex may be used to take advantage of targets poisoned by Malignant Chain and teammates like Dragapult and Spectrier spreading status ailments. Ceruledge is appreciated, as it threatens Steel and Poison teams, which have an immunity to Malignant Chain's effects and thus don't take any considerable damage from Hex. Furthermore, Pecharunt is capable of luring in specially defensive walls like Blissey, Empoleon, and Hisuian Goodra that it can take advantage of and pivoting into Ceruledge with Parting Shot, providing easy setup opportunities. Dragapult's versatility and set variety are heavily valued; Choice Specs sets threaten Dragon-types such as Latios and Raging Bolt, Hex sets complement Pecharunt very well, as they help spread status ailments, and Dragon Dance sets appreciate Pecharunt wearing down walls like Clefable and Mandibuzz to clean teams late-game. Choice Scarf Spectrier removes Dragon-types like Hydreigon, Roaring Moon, and Kommo-o using Draining Kiss as well as offering Will-O-Wisp support to weaken wallbreakers and help with Hex spam. Brambleghast chips down foes using Spikes and provides a Ground resistance, threatening Gastrodon, Swampert, and Hippowdon. In exchange, Pecharunt switches into threats such as Cinderace, Moltres, and Cloyster. Salazzle and Glimmora provide immense support to Pecharunt by inflicting near-unblockable Toxic thanks to Corrosion, powering up Pecharunt's Hex and putting timers on specially bulky walls like Clodsire, Alolan Muk, and Hisuian Goodra. Salazzle, with its high speed and Fire-type STAB, also provides assistance in melting through Steel- and Ice-types like Gholdengo, Bisharp, and Froslass which can otherwise prove troublesome. Meanwhile, Glimmora can blast through pesky Fire- and Flying-types like Ninetales, Articuno, and Pelipper along with setting entry hazards which Pecharunt can help to keep around longer with its Ghost typing blocking Rapid Spin from foes such as Alolan Sandslash, Forretress, and Avalugg. Amoonguss provides a switch-in to Ground-type threats such as Great Tusk, Hippowdon, and Excadrill with its Grass typing and spreads its own status with Spore, which Pecharunt can use to power up Hex. Toxapex helps by setting up Toxic Spikes for Pecharunt to make great use of with Hex and deals with powerful setup threats like Scizor, Weavile, and Okidogi thanks to Haze. Galarian Weezing provides an incredible Ground immunity for threats like Garchomp, Great Tusk, and Mamoswine, spreads status with Will-O-Wisp, and removes entry hazards in case Pecharunt loses its Heavy-Duty Boots to Knock Off.. Alolan Muk provides an incredible Ghost resistance and Psychic immunity, letting it switch into threats like Spectrier, Flutter Mane, and Espathra with incredible ease. Galarian Slowking helps to deal with special threats like Latios, Enamorus, and Iron Valiant with its wide coverage and break the special attackers that Pecharunt detests. Pecharunt appreciates Fighting-types like Okidogi and Sneasler breaking through annoying Dark-types like Bisharp, Darkrai, and Weavile while Pecharunt can handle opposing physical walls like Toxapex and Quagsire, which otherwise stop them in their tracks. Iron Moth enjoys Pecharunt soaking up hits aimed at it from powerful threats like Kleavor, Hisuian Arcanine, and Iron Boulder, while Iron Moth can melt threats Pecharunt dislikes such as Froslass, Sinistcha, and opposing Pecharunt.

With exceptional Defense, reliable recovery, and a donated HP or Special Defense stat, Pecharunt can serve the role of a wall. With investment in both HP and Defense, Pecharunt can be incredibly difficult to take down, with even super effective attacks from Attack-donated foes failing to reliably KO it. ruins the reliable damage output of foes that wish to try bringing Pecharunt low, as its potent secondary effect activates Poison Puppeteer. Foul Play functions as protection against physical attackers seeking to break through Pecharunt via boosting, such as Ceruledge or Calyrex-I, hitting the foe with their own boosted Attack. Parting Shot serves as a means of pivoting, setting up a teammate for success by dropping a foe's offensive stat and, given Pecharunt's slow Speed, likely tanking a hit for a teammate before they switch in. Recover gives longevity, ensuring that anything that can't outright 2HKO Pecharunt likely won't be able to take it down at all. Terastallization serves primarily defensive purposes here, with Tera Dark being an exception, helping secure KOs with Foul Play; the other two options provide strong defensive profiles that have little overlap with Pecharunt's default weaknesses. While Pecharunt has success as a wall before receiving any donation, any god that can provide reasonable donations to HP or Special Defense, such as Calyrex-I, Arceus formes, and Ho-Oh, will be well-received by Pecharunt. Pokemon that set up entry hazards, like Hisuian Samurott or Ting-Lu, appreciate Pecharunt's Ghost-typing, which prevents the easy removal of their hard work by the tier's Rapid Spin users like Great Tusk and Iron Treads. Even with a weakness to Ground-type attacks, Pecharunt's sky-high Defense and a potential HP donation alongside reliable recovery can mitigate this vulnerability. As for how it benefits, Pecharunt lacks meaningful offensive presence, so it appreciates offensively inclined Pokemon like Hydrapple, Zamazenta, and Landorus to provide damage. Additionally, even if receiving a meaningful increase in Special Defense, it should not be the sole wall on a team, as Recover's lacking PP and a low Speed stat mean that without support, Pecharunt will slowly crack under consistent pressure. Pecharunt appreciates specially defensive teammates like Mandibuzz and Ting-Lu, which resist or are immune to most of its weaknesses, forming the other half of a solid defensive core.

Pecharunt, bolstered by its impressive Defense stats and Dark typing thanks of Gyaradosite, emerges as an amazing physical wall in the metagame. Mold Breaker further enhances Pecharunt's utility, granting it the capability to use Toxic against defensive Sablenite users, such as Garganacl and Milotic, and Parting Shot against Magic Bounce users. Malignant Chain can be used in place of Toxic to inflict decent damage to specific targets, including Altarianite Dragonite and Hisuian Arcanine, while also being able to poison common Taunt users such as Arceus and non-Substitute Arceus-Ghost, although the reduced chance of poisoning and the limited PP may render this choice suboptimal. Foul Play enables Pecharunt to deal significant damage to foes like Lunala and punishes physical setup sweepers such as Arceus, Urshifu-R, and Iron Boulder. Parting Shot amplifies Pecharunt's utility as a pivot. Gyaradosite Pecharunt is a valuable addition to balance and bulky offense teams, forming an immaculate core with specially defensive Latiasite Magearna, as they cover each other's checks excluding Hearthflame Mask Great Tusk; Pecharunt is able to deal with physical attackers like Hisuian Arcanine, Entei, and Urshifu-R, while Magearna provides a Ground immunity with Levitate as well as the ability to set up Spikes and establishes a formidable pivot core. Ghostium Z is used to power up Pecharunt's Shadow Ball to insane heights, and can lure checks to its much more common pivot set like Ferrothorn, Melmetal, and Heatran and free them up for teammates like Tapu Lele and Iron Valiant. At +2 Special Attack, Never-Ending Nightmare OHKOes Ferrothorn and Toxapex. Pecharunt's EV spread allows it to survive a Headlong Rush from offensive Great Tusk or two Earth Powers from Terapagos at full health to spinblock more effectively as well as OHKO Great Tusk back with unboosted Never-Ending Nightmare. 168 Speed EVs lets it outspeed Modest Heatran. Pecharunt fits well on bulky offense teams needing a spinblocker that can double as a set-up sweeper. Mega Latios and Mega Diancie are two partners that work in tandem with Pecharunt to break each other's checks. Mega Latios appreciates Pecharunt's ability to bruise Ting-Lu, Mega Tyranitar and Galarian Slowking, and Mega Diancie similarly dislikes these as well as Toxapex and Assault Vest Melmetal, all of which Pecharunt can deal with or severely dent. This also means Pecharunt becomes less effective as a spinblocker against opposing Great Tusk and Terapagos, making hazard removal from Great Tusk, Zapdos, and Landorus-T good for Pecharunt's longevity. Pecharunt's STAB moves are stonewalled by Kingambit, Mega Tyranitar, and Ursaluna as well as other Dark-types like Ting-Lu, so it should be paired with Zamazenta or Great Tusk to cover these threats. Lastly, Pecharunt is outsped by many special attackers in the tier and therefore likes support from allies like Assault Vest Melmetal, Kingambit, and Ting-Lu in checking Tapu Lele, Mega Latios, and offensive Gholdengo.

Similarly, Dark-types such as Hisuian Samurott and Mega Tyranitar don't appreciate switching directly into Pecharunt because of Malignant Chain. Parting Shot allows Pecharunt to take a hit and switch out into a hard-hitting teammate, such as Urshifu-R, to threaten Pecharunt's checks like Mega Tyranitar and Kingambit. Heavy-Duty Boots allows Pecharunt to pivot more effectively without having to worry about entry hazards putting it in range of being OHKOed by attacks it would otherwise withstand. Alternatively, Pecharunt can run Black Sludge to increase its longevity if the team has sturdy hazard removal. Air Balloon is used to more effectively block Rapid Spin against Great Tusk and Iron Treads, and to add a Ground immunity to offensive teams. Darkinium Z paired with Parting Shot is a niche option that allows Pecharunt to give a low HP teammate a second chance at breaking through defensive structures or sweeping against already weakened teams. Pecharunt fits well on offensive and balance teams for its ability to threaten poison and confusion on defensive Pokemon such as Landorus-T and Moltres and to keep up momentum for powerful wallbreakers, especially for teams needing a solid check to Fighting-types, most notably Zamazenta and Mega Lopunny. Pecharunt pairs well with Dark-type Pokemon, which cover Pecharunt's weakness to Psychic-types like Tapu Lele, Mega Latios, and Galarian Slowking in exchange for safety against Fighting-types. Mega Tyranitar, Hisuian Samurott, and Ting-Lu in particular form nice cores with Pecharunt as they can check Psychic- and Ghost-types while also setting up entry hazards for Pecharunt to even further weaken its checks upon switching in. Pecharunt can be paired with Gholdengo holding Ghostium Z to threaten the likes of Ferrothorn, Galarian Slowking, and Iron Crown that might switch into it trying to absorb a Malignant Chain. Late-game sweepers like Iron Valiant love Pecharunt's ability to spread status and pivot them in safely. Finally, Kingambit isn't threatened by Pecharunt's STAB moves, so it's good to Parting Shot out into a Fighting-type teammate like Zamazenta, Urshifu-R, or Great Tusk that can easily deal with it, though Pecharunt should be mindful of the occasional Defiant or Pursuit Kingambit.

Prankster Pecharunt leverages its excellent bulk, typing, and utility movepool to serve as an aggressive pivot on balance and offensive teams. Pecharunt is able to come in against a myriad of physical threats like Iron Hands, Zamazenta, and the Ogerpon formes to absorb their attacks and then pivot in a teammate safely with Parting Shot. It can even come in aggressively against foes like Great Tusk and Iron Boulder that pack super effective STAB moves; even if they used the correct move and deal significant damage, it can safely pivot out thanks to Prankster and Recover next time it comes in. Destiny Bond provides insurance against setup sweepers, especially Speed-boosting ones like Roaring Moon, and allows Pecharunt to trade itself at low health or in a poor matchup. Malignant Chain is the best attack due to its power and poison chance, which deters Dark-types like Meowscarada and non-Magic Guard Roaring Moon from switching in, but Shadow Ball and Night Shade are options to hit Steel-types and have significantly more PP for longer games. Since it should be pivoting frequently, Heavy-Duty Boots is the best item to dodge entry hazard chip damage. 0 Speed IVs allow Pecharunt to alternate between fast Destiny Bonds and slow attacks to almost always keep the effect active. Prankster Pecharunt works best on balance and offensive teams that want to safely switch in their offensive threats but still have some semblance of a defensive backbone. Frail but powerful teammates like Deoxys-S, Chien-Pao, and Iron Boulder love the relatively free switch ins Pecharunt provides after Parting Shot. Pecharunt pairs very well with RegenVest users like Manaphy and Swampert, as they both provide pivoting and blanket check special attackers; Parting Shot also gives them more opportunities to switch into weak attacks to heal with Regenerator. Pecharunt's bulk, Parting Shot, and Destiny Bond all force frequent switches, making entry hazard setters like Great Tusk and Skarmory good teammates. Pecharunt struggles with Dark-types like Roaring Moon, Meowscarada, and Chien-Pao, as they block Parting Shot and can hit it hard, so a strong physically defensive switch-in like Intimidate Corviknight is recommended; powerful Fighting-types like Zamazenta and Great Tusk can also deter them. It is also worth noting that Prankster Pecharunt has extremely poor synergy with Psychic Surge users like Azelf and Deoxys-S, as they will block Parting Shot, so it should not be run with them.

Pecharunt is the tier's premier physical wall, boasting utility in Parting Shot and a massive Defense stat boosted further by Intimidate. Night Shade does solid damage to Steel-types such as Corviknight and Iron Treads, as well as breaking substitutes from IronPress Zamazenta. Hex is an option over Shadow Ball to hit Bulletproof Iron Treads while also hitting Gholdengo harder than Night Shade. Recover gives Pecharunt much-needed longevity, and Parting Shot opens up opportunities for offensive teammates. 252 Speed EVs with a Timid nature let Pecharunt outspeed and pivot on Goldengo and Great Tusk but at the cost of less bulk. Heavy-Duty Boots gives Pecharunt more freedom to repeatedly switch in and pivot out over the course of a game. The need for a physical wall is universal, so Pecharunt fits well on almost every teamstyle that isn’t hyper offense. Wallbreakers like Chien-Pao, Latios, and Deoxys-S appreciate Pecharunt's ability to pivot them in, and special walls like Swampert, Iron Treads, and Manaphy need Pecharunt to answer physical threats like the Ogerpon Forms, Zamazenta, and Iron Hands. In exchange, the aforementioned special walls check special attackers such as Latios, Deoxys-S, and Gholdengo. Pecharunt can get overwhelmed by strong Dark-type physical attackers like Chien-Pao, Kingambit, and Roaring Moon, so it needs backup from other physical walls like Corviknight and Great Tusk.
