Shroodle Movesets & Competitive Sets

Shroodle functions as a potent setup sweeper on hyper offense teams, using Grassy Terrain to outspeed the entire metagame thanks to Unburden. Grassy Seed triggers Unburden while providing a much-needed Defense boost, which aids Shroodle in setting up. Swords Dance allows Shroodle to reach threatening levels of Attack, which help it secure OHKOs on metagame staples like Mienfoo, Vullaby, Foongus, and Toedscool. Gunk Shot threatens heavy damage on most foes at the risk of lower accuracy, while Knock Off removes Eviolite from walls like Mareanie. Alternatively, Double-Edge is an accurate STAB move that allows Shroodle to hit Mudbray and Mareanie for huge damage without burning its own Terastallization at the cost of recoil damage. Acrobatics pairs well with Grassy Seed, gaining a power boost after Shroodle consumes Grassy Seed and allowing it to pressure key threats like Mienfoo and Foongus. Tera Flying provides Shroodle with an immunity to Ground-type attacks from Mudbray and Alolan Diglett, making it easier for it to set up and boosting Acrobatics for late-game cleaning. On the other hand, Tera Ground with Tera Blast lets Shroodle muscle past Steel- and Rock-types such as Tinkatink and Glimmet that resist its STAB moves. Shroodle is best supported by teammates that help it activate Unburden and cover its defensive gaps. Grookey is mandatory to set Grassy Terrain to activate Grassy Seed, weaken the power of Earthquake, offer valuable passive recovery, and act as a pivot. Shroodle appreciates Mienfoo's ability to pressure bulky Ground-types such as Mudbray. In return, Shroodle threatens foes like Foongus, Mareanie, and opposing Mienfoo that hinder Mienfoo's sweep. Shroodle can also be paired with another Unburden sweeper in Drifloon that forms a Grassy Terrain core along with Grookey. Other offensive partners like Alolan Diglett can help handle foes that trouble Shroodle, such as Tinkatink and Glimmet, while also punishing defensive Terastallization attempts, such as Tera Steel on Mienfoo that Shroodle can bait out.
