The mentioned Dark-type teammates can run more offensive sets with Choice Band to heavily weaken or eliminate Giratina. Regigigas, while it is bulky, tends to be vulnerable to being revenge killed by -ate users when weakened and is easily dented by strong neutral attacks from faster attackers. Steel-types can guard Regigigas from -ate users until they have been sufficiently weakened or until Regigigas is given an opportunity to set up and outspeed them. RegenVest walls can handle faster threats such as Mega Mewtwo Y and -ate users depending on their typing while letting Regigigas utilize the momentum they secure via slow pivoting.

With its immense Attack, Pursuit and Extreme Speed combine to put foes in uncomfortable coinflip scenarios. Water Shuriken works in tandem with the Expert Belt to OHKO Primal Groudon after a Shell Smash, as Primal Groudon deters Extreme Speed with its use of King's Shield. Mega Gyarados is also a huge help for Regigigas, as it can trap the Normal-immune Giratina with its devastatingly powerful Pursuit and threaten Primal Groudon with its own Water Shuriken. Aromatherapy users like Primal Kyogre and Blissey are also greatly appreciated, removing potential burns that would greatly hinder Regigigas's effectiveness. Blissey in particular can work well, as Regigigas also enjoys its Wish. Choice-locked Mold Breaker users like Mega Rayquaza and Primal Groudon can threaten opposing Wonder Guard Pokemon, such as Primal Kyogre and Mega Audino, for immense damage or an OHKO after Regigigas's Spikes.

Bullet Punch is used to OHKO Mega Diancie after a Shell Smash, as well as chip Substitute + Baton Pass Wonder Guard Xerneas. Additionally, these Mold Breaker users can force out the metagame's most common Magic Bounce user in Giratina, which would otherwise prevent Regigigas from setting entry hazards. Mold Breaker Tyranitar is able to force Regigigas out, so Fairy- and Dark-type teammates such as Mega Diancie are good to have. Common Wonder Guard Pokemon such as Mega Scizor and Primal Kyogre are able to wall Regigigas, so the same Mold Breaker Pokemon also pair well with Regigigas, as they can eliminate these Pokemon. Imposter Chansey is another great partner, as the two of them can revenge almost all Pokemon except Mega Gengar and Dialga. Wonder Guard users also make good teammates, Regigigas is often able to remove the Mold Breaker Pokemon that threaten them. Pokemon with Trick, Mold Breaker Knock Off, or other forms of item removal are other helpful teammates, as Regigigas greatly appreciates Shed Shells being removed from opposing Wonder Guard users.

Usage Tips It is essential to be careful when switching Regigigas in, as a Knock Off from the foe can remove Regigigas's Toxic Orb and prevent any chance of a sweep. Therefore, it is important to get a safe switch in by means of a pivot or a teammate fainting. Alternatively, if Spiky Shield is used, it should be activated immediately to ensure that Regigigas is badly poisoned. When in the midst of attempting to sweep after setting up a Shift Gear, Facade should be the primary move used, but if the player is running Sacred Fire, it can be used in an attempt to fish for burns on opposing physical attackers. Because Sacred Fire and Thousand Arrows do not make contact, they can be used to avoid the attack drop from King's Shield. Entry hazard setters like Deoxys-S are useful for this purpose as well. Lastly, Giratina is a good teammate that can wall non-Knock Off variants of this set should Imposter Chansey manage to break through (which is unlikely).

Regigigas's access to Wide Guard provides it with a niche over its fellow support Pokemon, Cresselia, allowing it to block spread moves that are very common in the VGC metagame. The EVs focus on maximizing Regigigas's special bulk. This allows Regigigas to take on powerful special attacks, such as rain-boosted Hydro Pump or Dragon Gem-boosted Draco Meteor, with HP to spare. Sitrus Berry and Chople Berry further improve Regigigas's survivability by providing some HP recovery and allowing Regigigas to take Fighting-type moves, respectively. An alternative EV spread of 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD, with an Impish nature, can be used to focus on physical defense; the EV spread nearly guarantees that Regigigas can survive a Fighting Gem-boosted Close Combat from Hitmontop without the use of a Chople Berry. Naturally, defensive EV spreads in between the two extremes can work as well; what works best will depend on the needs of your team. Regigigas's only weakness is to Fighting-type attacks, so Pokemon such as Metagross, Latios, and Togekiss, which can handle Fighting-type Pokemon well, make decent partners. When it's not being threatened by Fighting-type Pokemon, a partner that can take advantage of Regigigas's support moves is preferred. For example, Pokemon such as Metagross, Zapdos, Chandelure, and Abomasnow, which are vulnerable to a number of spread moves and aren't particularly fast, can take full advantage of the support options that Regigigas has to offer.
