Moves This is the best that Delcatty can try to achieve, even though it is better done by Girafarig, of all things. What does set Delcatty apart from the giraffe is Wonder Skin, which makes status moves have only a 50% chance of hitting Delcatty, meaning that it can set up Substitute or Calm Mind in the face of Taunt users such as Grumpig and Misdreavus with few worries, though it still isn't saying much. Hyper Voice is Delcatty's main attacking move, though the amount it does will be miniscule without many boosts. Shadow Ball is the best coverage Delcatty can hope for, threatening Ghost-types such as Misdreavus and Gourgeist, which are immune to Hyper Voice. Set Details Maximum investment in HP gives Delcatty some "bulk." Maximum Speed investment and a Timid nature allow Delcatty to outspeed Adamant Stoutland and Monferno. Leftovers gives Delcatty passive recovery, while Wonder Skin gives it a chance to set up against users of Taunt, Roar, and Whirlwind, as they only have a 50% chance of hitting. It can't set up on anything; let's be real here, people. If you really want to use Delcatty, first come to terms with what you're trying to accomplish by doing so. Then, look at yourself in the mirror, and smack yourself for thinking to use Delcatty in the first place. You want to use the worst fully evolved Pokemon ever. Let that sink in for a minute. What's wrong with you? You really want to make Delcatty work in the worst way possible. It's next to impossible, and if you want give the cat any real use, here's a great suggestion. Don't bother, because it isn't worth the effort or the time at all. Team Options Is your cat being stubborn and disobedient? Well, you could always show it the door and kick it off your team because it has no reason being on there to begin with. However, if you can't live without the cat, Pokemon that can take advantage of the "wallbreaking", such as Zebstrika and Kadabra, will do.

This is the only set that Delcatty can use in NU without being completely outclassed. Baton Pass is the key move on this set, allowing Delcatty to support specially offensive teammates with Calm Mind boosts. Hyper Voice allows Delcatty to make use of those Calm Mind boosts if it is hit by Taunt or if passing is not an option. Substitute shields Delcatty from hits if it manages to force something out, and Substitute passing can often support a teammate's sweep just as well as passing Calm Mind, giving the recipient a free switch-in. The given EV spread allows Delcatty to outspeed max base 45 Speed Pokemon, such as Golem and Marowak, while making Delcatty as physically bulky as possible. Wonder Skin is the chosen ability, giving Delcatty a chance to set up in front of Taunt, phazing moves, and status moves. It is also the only reason to use Delcatty as a Calm Mind passer, as it is outclassed by most others in every other way. Good teammates to consider for Delcatty are those that appreciate the Calm Mind boosts while being able to switch into moves aimed at Delcatty. Charizard, Musharna, Exeggutor, and Haunter all appreciate the Special Attack boosts and can switch into the Fighting-type moves aimed at Delcatty with ease. Specially attacking Samurott is another good option to receive these boosts, and has the bulk to take most of the Fighting-type moves aimed at Delcatty. Pursuit trappers such as Skuntank are greatly appreciated by Delcatty, as trapping Ghost-types allows Delcatty to stand a chance if it is your last Pokemon. It should be pointed out that Delcatty is completely outclassed by Mr. Mime and Musharna on full Baton Pass teams, and therefore should not be considered for a spot on said teams. Delcatty really only belongs on joke teams, to be quite frank.

Normalize is an unusual ability which turns all of Delcatty's moves into Normal-type attacks, and for the most part this ability is a huge disadvantage as it kills any sort of type coverage Delcatty may offer. Fortunately or unfortunately, Delcatty isn't exactly a champ when it comes to offense, so it's not a huge loss. The main thrust of this set is the Normalize Thunder Wave, which trades its Ground immunity for a Ghost one. Watch as Dugtrio recoils in shock and horror as it waltzes right into a Thunder Wave. Ghosts walk all over this set, so Sing is your only unreliable counter-measure against one. Use the switches caused by Thunder Wave and Sing to find opportunities to use Heal Bell, or use Baton Pass to scout for those switches and send in a better Pokemon for the job. Wish is for some convenient team healing. In terms of offense, the real problem with Normalize is that the Normal type already has on average some of the strongest and most reliable attacks in the game, so turning other attacks into Normal-type attacks doesn't really help. That said, STAB Sucker Punches can deal some damage and spook faster Pokemon. Actually, this set works fine with Cute Charm too. Delcatty is using Normalize just to show some of the options available to it when it does.

This (or a variation of this) is likely going to be the most common form of Delcatty you will see, as Delcatty's best and most sensible moves lean it in the direction of Baton Passing. It's already a very frail Pokemon though, so don't get your hopes up. It can function as a Special Attack boost passer or as a Wish passer. Delcatty can also go for no attacks whatsoever, but beware of Substitute and Taunt.

Set Description This set lets Delcatty use Calm Mind and Substitute to safely pass Special Attack and Special Defense boosts to the stat recipient. Wish is the best filler move so the health of whatever teammate is receiving Delcatty's stat boosts is guaranteed to be maintained; it also helps keep Delcatty healthy should it have to use Substitute repeatedly. Maximum HP and Speed investment with a Timid nature helps Delcatty outspeed as many foes as possible and lets it best make use of defensive boosts. This set is very straightforward to use: bring Delcatty into battle via Baton Pass, preferably with Defense boosts and a Substitute. From there, set up with Calm Mind and use Substitute when necessary. Generally, you'll be set to Baton Pass into another teammate once Delcatty has two or three Calm Mind boosts. Team Options Other Baton Pass chain members are necessary to pair alongside Delcatty, such as Mawile, Plusle, and Ledian, so the recipient can receive all the necessary stat boosts. Ariados is unique in that it can trap a passive foe with Spider Web, essentially making it impossible for the opponent to break the chain. Octillery is the best option as a stat recipient due to its broad coverage and ability Suction Cups, which prevents Roar users from phazing it; however, Clamperl is an alternative recipient that trades reliability for greater damage output.
