戦術解説

This set's main purpose is to hard counter Foongus, and Abra thanks to Insomnia and STAB Psychic. Counter threatens likely answers such as Pawniard, physical Vullaby, and Mienfoo, although it shouldn't be leaned on too heavily for that role. Once Counter is revealed, the set is easy to play around. While the payoff for using Drowzee in this function might seem attractive, the risk is great as its low Speed and underwhelming firepower invites offensive foes, such as Snivy or Nasty Plot Vullaby, to set up.

戦術解説

Moves Wish allows Drowzee to heal itself or other Pokemon. Protect lets Drowzee scout its foe or safely heal itself with Wish. Psychic is Drowzee's strongest STAB attack, hitting Poison- and Fighting-types such as Skrelp and Mienfoo super effectively. Thunder Wave cripples common switch-ins to Drowzee such as Pawniard. Set Details The given EV spread with a Bold nature gives Drowzee 24 / 14 / 18 bulk, hitting Eviolite numbers and letting it pass 12 HP Wishes, with the leftover EVs used to slightly bolster its Special Attack and Speed. Insomnia makes Drowzee immune to sleep-inducing moves, such as Foongus's Spore. Eviolite boosts Drowzee's Defense and Special Defense by 50%. Usage Tips Use Drowzee's fantastic special bulk and Insomnia to switch into powerful special attackers such as Abra and Skrelp or into sleep inducers such as Foongus. If you think the opponent will switch to a counter, such as Pawniard, use Thunder Wave to cripple the counter as it switches in. Avoid Knock Off users, as Drowzee will take severe damage from them and lose its Eviolite, which it needs to effectively check the threats it wants to check. Drowzee can be a momentum sink; thus, it is best used on bulkier teams that don't mind the momentum loss it causes. Team Options Fairy-types such as Spritzee and Snubbull can absorb Knock Off for Drowzee while Drowzee beats Poison-types for them. Bulky Normal-types such as Munchlax or Pursuit trappers such as Stunky are useful to help beat Ghost-types. Stealth Rock setters such as Pawniard help Drowzee guarantee the 2HKO on Foongus with Psychic.

戦術解説

Drowzee has both the stats and the movepool to be an effective revenge killer, thanks to its interesting STAB and great coverage moves. The first moveslot is given to the STAB move of choice; Zen Headbutt has a chance to flinch, while Psycho Cut has slightly lower Base Power but a high chance to get a critical hit and perfect accuracy. Both moves easily take out weakened Pokemon, especially Ghost- and Fighting-types. The main targets for Ice Punch are Dragon-types, but it also hits Flying- and Grass-types as well. Thunder Punch hits Frillish and other Water-types hard, bar Chinchou, which has Volt Absorb. Drain Punch is used not only as a form of pseudo-recovery, but also as Drowzee's only way of hitting Steel-types super effectively, especially Ferroseed, which otherwise walls this set. A Jolly nature is required here, as it allows Drowzee to hit 21 Speed with a Choice Scarf. The given EVs maximize both Attack and Speed, with the remaining EVs placed into HP to increase Drowzee's overall bulk. Alternatively, you can place those HP EVs into either of its defenses to increase Drowzee's bulk on that side. In terms of moves, Brick Break can be used over Drain Punch to break screens, but Drain Punch's healing effect is generally superior in most situations. Trick can also be used, but Drowzee will be too slow to do much after it loses its Choice Scarf. Drowzee also will be missing out on key coverage if it uses Trick. Return is another option if you want broad neutral coverage, but it isn't the best move to use since Drowzee doesn't gain STAB on it. Pokemon that can get rid of Dark-types make good teammates, especially Fighting-types such as Mienfoo and Timburr. Drowzee can also help out Dark-type sweepers such as Vullaby by eliminating their counters beforehand, giving them an easier time sweeping.

戦術解説

What sets Drowzee apart from its Psychic counterparts is its plethora of physical moves, which its fellow Psychic-types such as Spoink and Slowpoke do not receive, or cannot use effectively. Substitute and Focus Punch are the most important moves on this set, with Drowzee finding opportunities to use Substitute against Choiced Fighting-type moves and many other attacks it can shrug off with its good defenses. Once safely behind a Substitute, the strategy is simple - pound most of the metagame into oblivion with Focus Punch, and defeat those who resist Focus Punch with the last two moves. Zen Headbutt is a surprisingly powerful move, OHKOing walls such as Koffing and annihilating Croagunk. Ice Punch 2HKOes Gligar, who will never OHKO Drowzee with Earthquake. Reflect is another option to further sponge physical hits, but generally type coverage gains more precedence. Drowzee's base 48 Attack isn't astounding, so using an Oran Berry is recommended to make Drowzee survive longer, as Muscle Band doesn't score any more KOs or 2HKOs. Although you could use a Muscle Band, Oran Berry is usually more reliable. Life Orb is another option, though it doesn't gain any significant KOs that Muscle Band does not. When using an Oran Berry, an Impish or Careful nature is also viable to further boost Drowzee's Defense and Special Defense respectively. The other elemental punches are possible replacements for Ice Punch, but should only be used if your team has particular problems with Mantyke or Paras (though Drowzee shouldn't really be staying in on the latter). Not many Pokemon use Psychic-type moves, and the only other is Bronzor, who doesn't resist Focus Punch. 20 Speed EVs allow Drowzee to outrun Phanpy and 2HKO it with Ice Punch; the remaining EVs give Drowzee as much physical power as possible, while increasing its survivability with defensive EVs. This set in particular pairs well with Croagunk - Drowzee can switch into Psychic-type attacks aimed at the poison frog, while Croagunk can switch into Bug- and Dark-type attacks aimed at Drowzee. They also pair well strategically - Drowzee creates massive holes with Focus Punch, and priority-based Croagunk will mop up the rest with a combination of Fake Out, Vacuum Wave, or Sucker Punch.

戦術解説

This set uses Drowzee's low Speed to abuse Trick Room; when it's set up, not much can stop Drowzee in Trick Room, especially with its decent physical movepool and average Attack stat. Zen Headbutt is its strongest STAB attack, hitting Bellsprout hard, while Fire Punch hits Pokemon such as Bronzor super effectively. Thunder Punch can defeat common Water-types such as Mantyke and Buizel, and it also hits Flying-types super effectively. An Oran Berry allows Drowzee to survive longer, as it isn't the most bulky Pokemon. The defensive EVs help Drowzee withstand attacks from more defensive Pokemon who can take Drowzee's physical attacks. The 0 Speed IVs make Drowzee as slow as possible, making it faster in Trick Room. Instead of Fire Punch, Ice Punch can be used to OHKO Gligar with ease. Brick Break makes it much easier to defeat Munchlax. Bulky Pokemon that can set up Trick Room (Duskull, Bronzor) can also help this set out because Drowzee does not have the kind of defensive stats they do, which means it might not be able to set up Trick Room. Pokemon such as Shroomish greatly appreciate Trick Room because it can set up Spore before its opponent gets a turn to react.
