Iron Head is used to hit Flutter Mane, which is immune to Body Press. Leftovers is used for extra recovery, since Kommo-o will be on the field for long periods of time. Overcoat is picked for an immunity to powder moves, allowing it to ignore Amoonguss, which can otherwise redirect a resisted Body Press and slow it down with Spore. The Special Defense investment allows Kommo-o to live a Blood Moon from Life Orb Ursaluna-B and makes Shadow Ball from Special Attack Booster Energy Flutter Mane a 3HKO. On the physical side, the Defense investment allows Kommo-o to comfortably live Chien-Pao's Icicle Crash, as well as making Urshifu-S's Wicked Blow a 3HKO after Terastallizing into Steel. The Attack investment gives the best chance for an OHKO on Flutter Mane with Iron Head after Terastallizing into Steel. Tera Steel has the best synergy with Kommo-o's original typing since it provides resistances to every type that Kommo-o is weak to. It also gives STAB to Iron Head, allowing for a favorable roll to OHKO Flutter Mane

戰術分析
With Iron Defense, Kommo-o is able to set up and stay on the field for a long time, taking attacks from Pokemon like Sneasler and Rillaboom. Iron Defense and Body Press are Iron Defense Kommo-o's main source of damage, hitting a lot of the metagame really well, like Porygon2 and Ursaluna-B. Leftovers increases Kommo-o's longevity, making it incredibly difficult to remove. The EVs are physically defensive to deal more damage with Body Press, OHKOing both Ursaluna formes after a Iron Defense. The Special Defense EVs let it survive a Life Orb-boosted Blood Moon from Ursaluna-B. The second EV spread can survive Tera Fire Choice Specs Eruption from Timid Hisuian Typhlosion. Iron Defense Kommo-o is quite vulnerable to special attacks, with no way to boost its Special Defense. It can also be quite slow, so faster threats can remove Kommo-o before it gets boosts or disrupt Kommo-o, preventing set up.

Clangorous Soul Kommo-o aims to set up and sweep or deal great amounts of damage to the majority of the metagame. It avoids Spore thanks to Overcoat or becomes immune to attacks like Hyper Voice thanks to Soundproof while enjoying the fact that there aren't that many Fairy-types in the format, allowing Clanging Scales to hit almost everything in the format for solid damage. Clangorous Soul allows Kommo-o to set up, which can be aided with redirection. Clanging Scales can deal good spread damage while also boosting Kommo-o's Special Attack with Throat Spray if it hasn't used Clangorous Soul. Flamethrower can threaten Steel-types like Gholdengo that resist Clanging Scales while hitting hard into metagame threats like Rillaboom and Alolan Ninetales. Aura Sphere, on the other hand, is a good STAB option that also hits Steel-types, doing good damage into Pokemon like Archaludon and Kingambit. Throat Spray's extra Special Attack boost in conjunction with Clangorous Soul allows Flamethrower to OHKO Gholdengo, Kingambit, and Alolan Ninetales or Aura Sphere to OHKO Tyranitar. Leftovers is good to heal back the damage dealt from Clangorous Soul, increasing its longevity. Tera Fire grants a resistance to Fairy-type attacks and Make it Rain and gives Flamethrower a STAB boost. Tera Steel grants more defensive properties, letting it resist Dragon- and Flying-type attacks from Pokemon such as Hydreigon and Dragonite. 188 Speed EVs let Kommo-o outspeed Pelipper while outpacing Sneasler after a Clangorous Soul. The Special Attack investment lets the first Kommo-o set OHKO Kingambit with +2 Flamethrower while also OHKOing Archaludon with Aura Sphere after the same boosts. The alternative EV spread outspeeds Rillaboom without any boosts while taking under 50% from Scale Shot from Dragonite when Terastallized into Fire. Although Clangorous Soul sets are more destructive than Iron Defense sets, losing health early can lead to Kommo-o easily getting KOed by strong neutral attacks. Unlike Iron Defense, Clangorous Soul is not an easily spammable move and is really only used once per game.

Choice Specs Kommo-o is a great wallbreaker for Dragon teams thanks to its incredible STAB combination and access to Vacuum Wave, which allows it to force out problematic threats like Greninja and Darkrai. Clanging Scales complements Kommo-o's coverage, punishing switch-ins like Dragapult, Mandibuzz, and Toxapex that can shrug off its Fighting-type moves, and it also damages Substitute Spectrier and Volcarona. Flamethrower rounds out Kommo-o's coverage against Steel teams by roasting Gholdengo and Corviknight. Vacuum Wave lets Kommo-o pick off massive threats to Dragon teams like Meowscarada, Choice Band Excadrill, and Hisuian Samurott. Bulletproof lets it switch into and nullify Shadow Ball from Choice Specs Spectrier and Hisuian Zoroark. A Timid nature lets Kommo-o outspeed Jolly Mamoswine and damage it with Vacuum Wave before it can be picked off by Ice Shard, as well as allowing Kommo-o to outspeed and remove Dragonite and Adamant Lokix. Alternatively, a Modest nature enables Kommo-o to OHKO Greninja and Meowscarada with Vacuum Wave after Stealth Rock damage and guarantees a 2HKO on specially defensive Corviknight and Hisuian Goodra. Both Archaludon and Hisuian Goodra help with Kommo-o's debilitating Fairy weakness by dealing with physical and special attackers, respectively: Archaludon deals with Azumarill and Mimikyu, which can use Kommo-o as a setup opportunity, while Hisuian Goodra can sponge attacks from the likes of Flutter Mane, Choice Specs Greninja, and Primarina. Archaludon also provides Stealth Rock support, a welcome tool to help Kommo-o break through and revenge kill foes. Both Archaludon and Hisuian Goodra can handle opposing Dragon-types as well; Archaludon can cover against Dragon Dance Dragapult, while Hisuian Goodra can handle Latios. Choice Scarf Roaring Moon appreciates Kommo-o's ability to threaten Steel-types that can take it on like Skarmory, and in return, it provides speed control, removing Choice Specs Dragapult and Choice Scarf Hoopa-U, which readily deal with Kommo-o. Dragapult can run a variety of sets from Choice Specs to further pressure special walls alongside Kommo-o, Choice Band to lure and weaken Hisuian Goodra and Clodsire, and status-spreading sets to slow down opposing teams. In return, Kommo-o overpowers Dark-types like Bisharp and Hisuian Samurott. Both Latios and Latias are great teammates, as they provide speed control and help in the Poison and Fighting matchups, two major struggles for Kommo-o. Latios can use an Expert Belt set to further pressure Water and Flying teams, while Latias also provides very helpful utility in the form of Healing Wish and Trick to render checks like Galarian Slowking much less potent. Garchomp can pack Spikes or Stone Edge to help Kommo-o's wallbreaking prowess or deal with Moltres and Volcarona for Dragon teams. In return, Kommo-o deals with Corviknight and Skarmory for Garchomp. Dragonite forms a priority core with Kommo-o and loves Kommo-o's ability to remove pesky Steel-types like Archaludon and Skarmory, allowing it to clean up Dragon and Flying teams late-game.

戰術分析
With its decent mixed offensive prowess, Kommo-o can use a mixed set with Close Combat to put more pressure on the defensive cores of opposing Steel, Dark, and Dragon teams. Close Combat pulverizes Hisuian Goodra, Heatran, Ting-Lu, and Empoleon that otherwise can try and scout other Kommo-o sets. Close Combat also deals with Scrafty, which is troublesome for most Dragon teams. Clanging Scales punishes switch-ins like Dragapult, Sableye, and Archaludon, 2HKOing the last two defensive walls. Flamethrower deals with Steel team's switch-ins in Skarmory and Gholdengo. Vacuum Wave picks off faster threats like Meowscarada and Greninja. 92 Atk EVs coupled with Expert Belt ensures Kommo-o OHKOes Hisuian Goodra with Close Combat. A Rash nature is preferred, as it lets Kommo-o 2HKO non-specially defensive Gholdengo with Flamethrower and reduces the prior damage needed for Vacuum Wave to KO Hisuian Samurott and Greninja late-game. Mixed Kommo-o struggles with bulkier defensive cores such as those of Flying and Water teams, and it is unable to 2HKO specially defensive Corviknight, so wallbreakers such as Choice Specs Dragapult and Latios make for great teammates. Dragapult also deals with faster threats like Choice Specs Flutter Mane and non-Choice Scarf Iron Valiant and loves Kommo-o's ability to punch through special walls like Ting-Lu and Hisuian Goodra. Latios deals with Poison-types like Clodsire and pressures Flying and Fighting teams. It can even run Flip Turn if using a Choice Scarf to pivot Kommo-o in against Ting-Lu, Empoleon, and Gholdengo, all of which check Latios. Both of them appreciate Kommo-o's ability in Bulletproof, as it covers for their weakness to Shadow Ball. Kyurem and Raging Bolt devastate the defensive cores of Water and Flying teams and love Kommo-o's ability to remove their checks in Iron Treads, Ting-Lu, and Empoleon. Kyurem deals with Clodsire, while Raging Bolt zaps Corviknight and Toxapex for Kommo-o. Hisuian Goodra and Archaludon are notably not weak to any of Dragon's weaknesses, with Hisuian Goodra dealing with Primarina, Flutter Mane, and Greninja and Archaludon covering for physical threats like Roaring Moon and Meowscarada. Hisuian Goodra can also use Knock Off to remove items from walls, allowing Kommo-o to plausibly 2HKO specially defensive Corviknight after Stealth Rock. Archaludon also provides Stealth Rock, which help chip down speedy threats to the point where Kommo-o can safely remove them with Vacuum Wave. Choice Scarf Roaring Moon deals with faster threats like non-Choice Scarf Dragapult and Flutter Mane, and it also pivots Kommo-o in against walls like Skarmory. Swords Dance Garchomp appreciates Kommo-o's ability to break down Steel and Dragon teams, which paves a way for Garchomp to sweep. It also deals with Volcarona and Articuno, which wall Kommo-o. Other setup sweepers like Dragonite benefit from Kommo-o breaking its checks in Skarmory and Archaludon.

戰術分析
Kommo-o is a unique Stealth Rock setter and special wall. Its Dragon typing combined with Bulletproof allows it to withstand hits from powerful attackers such as Mega Charizard Y, Ogerpon-W, and Volcarona, making it a solid check to all of them, as well as Gholdengo variants lacking Make It Rain. Body Press enables Kommo-o to threaten immediate damage on its targets such as Ogerpon-W and Serperior, as well as mauling Steel-types such as Ferrothorn and Heatran. Toxic lets Kommo-o threaten common Body Press answers, notably Moltres, Tapu Lele, Zapdos, and Landorus-T. Stealth Rock allows Kommo-o to make long-term progress and enables the breakdown of many common offensive pieces, especially the 4x Rock-weak Mega Charizard Y and Buginium Z Volcarona. Protect lets Kommo-o recover HP for free with Leftovers, force foes to take an additional turn of poison damage, and scout threatening moves from Choice-locked Pokemon such as Choice Scarf Tapu Lele and Choice Specs Iron Valiant. Earthquake enables Kommo-o to not get stonewalled by Gholdengo, as well as threatening Galarian Slowking, Clodsire, and Tapu Koko. 32 Defense EVs with an Impish nature let Kommo-o take Mega Lopunny's Close Combat twice from full HP after Stealth Rock damage. 52 Speed EVs allow Kommo-o to outspeed uninvested Landorus-T, and 176 Special Defense EVs allow it to survive a Luster Purge from Mega Latios at full HP. Kommo-o fits best on bulky offense and balance teams that can give it the specific support it needs to thrive. It can stave off offensive Pokemon such as Mega Charizard Y and Ogerpon-W, but it generally thuds against more defensive builds featuring Toxapex and Gliscor. Conversely, Kommo-o can be overwhelmed defensively by the threats it checks due to its lack of reliable recovery, so it requires a strong backbone and partners that it can rely on to cover its most glaring weaknesses, notably Fairy-types such as Iron Valiant and Hatterene. For this reason, Galarian Slowking and Gholdengo are excellent partners. Offensively, the ability to break past defensive pieces with Future Sight and Nasty Plot, respectively, gives teams a way to threaten the Toxic-immune Toxapex and Pecharunt, and Kommo-o can in turn serve to step in versus the Dark-types that force out both its teammates such as Kingambit and Hisuian Samurott. Galarian Slowking and Gholdengo also patch up the weakness to Psychic- and Fairy-type Pokemon, most notably Tapu Lele and Mega Latios. In a similar vein, Clefable helps against Dragon-types, serving to deny Garchomp and Dragonite the ability to obliterate Kommo-o with their powerful Z-Moves. Clefable can use Thunder Wave to make the Speed tiers of threatening sweepers like Ogerpon-W and Kartana more manageable for Kommo-o, and it can use Knock Off to remove the Heavy-Duty Boots that ignore Kommo-o's Stealth Rock. In turn, Kommo-o can deny the otherwise troublesome Ogerpon-W and Mega Charizard Y the opportunity to break through Clefable's otherwise robust defensive profile.

戰術分析
Kommo-o is an unorthodox wallbreaker and setup sweeper that can blow past certain team structures with ease while also providing its team with notable defensive utility thanks to its typing and ability. However, Kommo-o's terrible matchup versus the tier's common Fairy-types such as Clefable and Tapu Lele limits its utility and means it requires significant support to be a consistent choice. Clanging Scales combines with Kommonium Z to give Kommo-o access to Clangorous Soulblaze, a powerful Z-Move that also boosts all of Kommo-o's stats one stage and notably OHKOes Great Tusk and offensive Landorus-T after Stealth Rock. Close Combat is preferred for its power, notably OHKOing Heatran at +1 and improving damage rolls against Melmetal and Mega Diancie. Drain Punch, although much weaker, gives Kommo-o some form of recovery and can let it heal off damage it may have taken while setting up on Pokemon such as Ferrothorn. Flamethrower hits Corviknight, Gholdengo, and Mega Scizor, preventing them from reliably trading with Kommo-o. Kommo-o is a decent Stealth Rock setter, as it dissuades common entry hazard removers such as Great Tusk, Terapagos, and Landorus-T from directly switching into it thanks to its Z-Move. Taunt is another option that allows Kommo-o to shut down Pokemon like Toxapex, Gliscor, and Galarian Slowking that might try to stop it via status or Haze. Clangorous Soul lets Kommo-o set up boosts reliably against teams with a Fairy-type, although it still won't sweep them easily, as Fairy-types like Tapu Lele, Clefable, and Tapu Fini can still take Kommo-o's boosted moves fairly comfortably. Additionally, while setting up both boosts is potentially devastating, it is often difficult to do so and unnecessary in a lot of situations due to Kommo-o's power at +1 often being sufficient. The other two moves are therefore often preferred. Bulletproof is very useful against foes such as Mega Charizard Y and Gholdengo variants lacking Make it Rain, since it lets Kommo-o effectively counter them, turning them into setup fodder. Kommo-o's threatening nature lets it fit well on offensive teams that want to keep the pressure on while appreciating Kommo-o's ability to check Hisuian Samurott, Mega Charizard Y, and Heatran. Kommo-o struggles greatly against Fairy-types such as Mega Diancie, Tapu Lele, and Clefable, as they easily block its Z-Move while not being appreciably threatened by its coverage moves. Teammates that can take advantage of these Fairy-types are therefore required. Steel-types like Gholdengo, Melmetal, and Corviknight can come in on these Fairy-types and make progress via exerting significant offensive pressure from the former two or pivoting out and gaining momentum with the latter. Gholdengo also assists Stealth Rock variants of Kommo-o by blocking Rapid Spin and Defog attempts from Terapagos, Tornadus-T, and Zapdos. Kommo-o in turn can switch into Fire-types such as Mega Charizard Y and Heatran, which threaten these Steel-types. Frail wallbreakers and cleaners, such as Iron Valiant, Urshifu-R, and Choice Scarf Tapu Lele love Kommo-o providing defensive utility on top of keeping up the offensive pressure for its teammates. Taunt variants work especially well with these teammates, as Kommo-o becomes adept at breaking down defensive cores consisting of Pokemon such as Toxapex, Gliscor, and defensive Landorus-T for these faster teammates. Kommo-o's access to Stealth Rock is useful for these offensive teams, as they sometimes struggle to fit Stealth Rock setters elsewhere, and they don't mind Kommo-o's limited longevity preventing it from setting up Stealth Rock multiple times over the course of a longer game. It notably frees up a moveslot on teammates such as Ferrothorn, Heatran, and Landorus-T. Hyper offense teams can often afford the Clangorous Soul variant of this set, as they generally have a dedicated lead devoted to setting entry hazards up. Teammates such as Iron Valiant, Roaring Moon, and Kingambit often fit on these teams and can pair with Kommo-o to exert immense offensive pressure on the opposing team and beat down their shared checks such as Tapu Lele, Clefable, and Toxapex.

Kommo-o finds a decent niche on offensive teams as a mixed attacker with strong coverage. Boomburst scares off walls such as Mandibuzz, Corviknight, and Manaphy. Clanging Scales threatens Great Tusk, Iron Hands, and Pecharunt, while Close Combat notably allows Kommo-o to smack special walls like Blissey, Swampert, and Volt Absorb Empoleon attempting to check it. Stealth Rock synergizes well with Kommo-o's ability to scare away entry hazard removers like the aforementioned Mandibuzz and Corviknight. Clangorous Soul allows it to act as a passable setup sweeper instead, preventing threats like Roaring Moon and Iron Boulder from revenge killing it while increasing its offensive capabilities. Life Orb is typically preferred for its consistent damage boost, but Throat Spray can be used on Clangorous Soul sets to avoid recoil. Kommo-o's lack of longevity necessitates either teammates that can make up for its absent defensive utility like Corviknight and Manaphy or offensive teammates that can keep up the pressure like Iron Moth and Chien-Pao. Select revenge killers like Dragonite, Choice Scarf Roaring Moon, and Azelf naturally outspeed Kommo-o even after a Clangorous Soul, so answers to them like Kingambit, Great Tusk, and Roaring Moon make for good partners. Kommo-o appreciates pivots like Azelf, Sandy Shocks, and Roaring Moon because they can pivot out on their checks like Blissey, Empoleon, and Corviknight and safely bring it in to start threatening the opposing team. Kommo-o greatly appreciates dual screens support from setters like Corviknight and Deoxys-S allowing it to have an easier time setting up with Clangorous Soul or supporting its teammates with Stealth Rock; alternatively, Sticky Web from Smeargle and Ribombee can help it outspeed Choice Scarf revenge killers like Latios, Azelf, and Roaring Moon after a Clangorous Soul.

An incredible asset for Fighting teams, Kommo-o is often the best wincon on the type thanks to Clangorous Soulblaze, which helps it overcome otherwise difficult matchups such as Dragon, Flying, and Water. Flamethrower takes care of Steel-type Pokemon neutral to Drain Punch like Mega Scizor and Corviknight. Taunt allows Kommo-o to block status moves from defensive Pokemon like Toxapex, Swampert, and Gliscor, preventing them from resetting its boosts with Haze or statusing it with Toxic. Alternatively, Clangorous Soul powers up Kommo-o without using its Z-Move, letting its Clangorous Soulblaze outright OHKO Toxapex and Hippowdon, at the cost of longevity. Bulletproof is Kommo-o's preferred ability to better handle Gholdengo or Aegislash in the Steel matchup. Unboosted Kommo-o's average Speed tier leaves it outsped by threats to Fighting teams like Tornadus-T and Tapu Lele, so Choice Scarf users like Galarian Zapdos and Terrakion are great partners to assist it against them. Iron Valiant's Fairy typing and wide coverage movepool lets it deal with opposing Dragon-types, and it forms a wallbreaking core with Kommo-o by pressuring the likes of Mega Sableye and Ting-Lu. Cobalion and Great Tusk provide Stealth Rock, which maximizes Kommo-o's opportunities to wallbreak after using Clangorous Soulblaze. Great Tusk can also remove entry hazards for Kommo-o with Rapid Spin, and Cobalion has the added bonus of checking Fairy-types like Mega Diancie. Mega Gallade can pressure Poison-, Ground-, and Flying-types like Toxapex, Ting-Lu, and Landorus-T for Kommo-o. It can also outspeed and revenge kill offensive threats to it like Kyurem and Garchomp.

戰術分析
Kommo-o is an exceptional setup sweeper due to its great mixed offensive stats, respectable defenses, and exclusive access to Clangorous Soulblaze; this makes it an amazing tool to clean up Steel, Dark, and Dragon teams late-game. Drain Punch threatens Steel- and Normal-types like Heatran, Blissey, and Porygon-2 as well as increasing Kommo-o's longevity, making it harder for revenge killers to shut it down after using its Z-Move. Additionally, Drain Punch is Kommo-o's best move to hit Ditto, as it copies its ability Soundproof. Flamethrower targets Fighting-resistant or -immune Steel-types such as Mega Scizor, Celesteela, and Aegislash. Taunt is preferred to shut down phazers like Haze Toxapex and Hippowdon and bulky walls like Porygon2 and Clodsire, which can inconvenience Kommo-o with Toxic. Meanwhile, Clangorous Soul allows for more boosts and breaking power, notably enabling Clangorous Soulblaze to OHKO the aforementioned Hippowdon and Toxapex. Furthermore, Clangorous Soulblaze allows Kommo-o to set up on Fairy-types and Soundproof Pokemon like Alolan Ninetales, Trace Porygon2, and opposing Kommo-o. Soundproof prevents revenge killing attempts from Ditto or opposing Kommo-o, and a Naive nature permits Kommo-o to outpace Mega Aerodactyl, Mega Lopunny, and Zeraora after obtaining the omni-boost. Mega Altaria is a wonderful teammate, as it helps weaken and clean up opposing Dragon teams; In return, it appreciates Kommo-o dealing with the aforementioned Steel-types. Kyurem aids in matchups against Flying-types like Tornadus-T, Mantine, and Dragonite, as well as Fairy-types such as Azumarill, Tapu Fini, and Mega Altaria. Choice Scarf Latias and Roaring Moon provide speed control; the former offers healing and setup opportunities with Healing Wish, while the latter checks Psychic-types like Deoxys-S, Victini, and Latias. Garchomp offers entry hazards support to pressure and chip down Kommo-o's switch-ins and aids in the Steel matchup with Earthquake. Hisuian Goodra is a huge help in the Fairy matchup, taking on Tapu Lele, Iron Valiant, and Mega Diancie. Mega Latios threatens Flying-type threats with its BoltBeam coverage; in addition, when paired with Garchomp, it puts a lot of pressure on Poison teams, which Kommo-o tends to struggle against. Cyclizar provides entry hazard control with Rapid Spin and extra protection for Kommo-o with Shed Tail, encouraging the use of Clangorous Soul over Taunt. Baxcalibur is excellent in the Dark and Flying matchups, dispatching threats like Choice Scarf Meowscarada and Enamorus with its Swords Dance or Dragon Dance set, and it also ravages Poison teams with Galarian Slowking, which Kommo-o might not be able to handle. In return, Kommo-o removes the aforementioned Steel- and Normal-types that can easily wall Baxcalibur or use it to reverse sweep, specifically Ditto.

Kommo-o is a pretty solid Stealth Rock setter, capable of pressuring the most common forms of entry hazard removal in Mandibuzz, Excadrill, and Corviknight. Beyond that, it has a very solid matchup against sun teams in general, notably checking Venusaur. Kommo-o fits best on balance teams that need to improve their matchup against sun teams and need a solid Stealth Rock setter. Kommo-o synergizes very well with Wish Clefable, as it is otherwise quickly worn down. It is also important to have counterplay to Clefable, as Kommo-o often baits it into play, so Pokemon like Excadrill and Corviknight are solid teammates.

Iron Defense Kommo-o serves as a bulky wincon for Dragon teams, specifically dominating in the Steel and Dark matchups, which Dragon can often struggle against. Iron Defense lets Kommo-o shrug off attacks from non-Choice Band Melmetal, Excadrill, and non-Choice Band Weavile. It also boosts Body Press, allowing Kommo-o to deal with Steel-, Normal-, and Dark-types such as Ferrothorn, Porygon2, and Mandibuzz. Earthquake deals with Aegislash, which is immune to Body Press. Alternatively, Flamethrower gives Kommo-o a better matchup against Corviknight, Whimsicott, and Tapu Bulu; however, it has a chance of not breaking specially defensive Aegislash's Substitute. Substitute lets Kommo-o avoid Toxic and Leech Seed from Aegislash and Ferrothorn, respectively. It also takes advantage of forced switches against types such as Steel, Ground, and Normal, allowing Kommo-o to whittle down its checks such as Choice Specs Jirachi and Nidoking. Bulletproof blocks Shadow Ball from Aegislash, and Leftovers allows Kommo-o to remain healthy throughout the match. 200 Speed EVs with a positive nature let Kommo-o outspeed Modest Galarian Moltres, while 52 Special Defense EVs let its Substitute withstand specially defensive Heatran's Earth Power. Kommo-o is setup fodder for Fairy-types such as Clefable, Calm Mind Tapu Fini, and Hatterene, so Dragalge, which checks these threats, is an excellent teammate for it. Dragalge also sets Toxic Spikes, which wears down checks such as Sableye and Porygon2, and can pivot Kommo-o in safely against Steel-types such as Ferrothorn, which try to take advantage of Dragalge. Nasty Plot Hydreigon provides a Psychic immunity, is an excellent wallbreaker that deals with walls such as Toxapex and Bulk Up Corviknight that Kommo-o struggles against, and works well with it to break down Ground- and Steel-type teams. Choice Scarf Dragapult deals with faster threats such as Swift Swim Kingdra, Latias, and Garchomp, which break through Kommo-o, and pivots it in against walls such as Ferrothorn, Porygon2, and Celesteela. SubRoost Kyurem heavily pressures types such as Flying, Ground, and Water, and it deals with Kommo-o's checks in Nidoking, Toxapex, and Sableye. In return, Kommo-o removes specially defensive walls such as Tyranitar, Cradily, and Ferrothorn; this synergy allows it or Kyurem to clean types such as Dark and Grass late-game. Garchomp sets Stealth Rock, pressures types such as Steel alongside Kommo-o, and can put walls such as Sableye on a timer with Toxic. Latias provides Healing Wish, which gives Kommo-o a second chance to set up if it has been greatly worn down or statused, making Kommo-o much harder to deal with.

Belly Drum Kommo-o is a threating sweeper that can clean weakened teams or break holes through teams early-game once boosted. Kommo-o also functions as a soft Greninja and Heatran check on hyper offense teams, although it does have to be careful with its health. However, Kommo-o is extremely reliant on Belly Drum to do significant damage and requires its Salac Berry to be eaten to actually sweep teams due to its low Speed stat. Furthermore, due to how low Kommo-o is left after setting up, it can often be easily killed by a myriad of faster threats such as Choice Scarf Landorus-T, Tapu Lele, and Hawlucha, as well as priority from the likes of Rillaboom and Mega Scizor. Substitute allows Kommo-o to setup safely on Pokemon such as Ferrothorn, Zapdos, and Rotom-W and avoid status such as Rotom-W's Will-O-Wisp, Toxapex's Toxic, and Ferrothorn's Leech Seed, as well as protecting Kommo-o from attempts to revenge kill it. The combined HP lost from Substitute and Belly Drum allow Kommo-o to instantly activate its Salac Berry. Drain Punch is used over other stronger options like Close Combat because the damage increase isn't needed, and it allows Kommo-o to recover the health lost from setting up. Thunder Punch provides solid coverage alongside Drain Punch, letting Kommo-o nail common Fighting- resistant Pokemon such as Toxapex, Tapu Fini, Zapdos, and Clefable. The given EV spread allows Kommo-o to always consume its Salac Berry after Substitute and Belly Drum. If Kommo-o is being used alongside dual screens, it can run 52 HP EVs to avoid having its Substitute broken by Magnezone's Flash Cannon under Light Screen. Bulletproof is the chosen ability to let Kommo-o setup on the likes of Gyro Ball Ferrothorn, as well as Shadow Ball from Gengar and Blacephalon. Belly Drum Kommo-o only fits on hyper offense teams due to its one-time setup nature. Dual screens setters such as Tapu Koko and Grimmsnarl are beneficial, as the extra bulk provided gives significantly more setup opportunities for Kommo-o. Tapu Koko in particular is also a solid teammate, as Electric Terrain boosts the damage of Kommo-o's Thunder Punch, letting it score KOs on Pokemon like Clefable, Reuniclus, and Victini when it normally wouldn't. Due to Kommo-o's susceptibility to getting revenge killed by faster threats, Shuckle is a solid partner that can set up Sticky Web for it to outspeed those threats. Hawlucha and Mega Garchomp are exemplary partners for Kommo-o, as they both pressure their shared checks in Landorus-T, Clefable, and Zapdos. Mega Gyarados, Serperior, and Manaphy are stellar partners due to them being able to lure and break Unaware Quagsire and Clefable, which otherwise stonewall Kommo-o. Lastly, Pokemon that can wear down or break Fairy- and Psychic-types such as Mega Scizor, Mega Gyarados, and Volcarona are good partners.

This set exploits Kommo-o's good offensive stats and Boomburst to make it a powerful and reliable mixed Stealth Rock setter that can threaten almost all the Defoggers in the metagame. Thanks to Galvanize, Boomburst is even stronger and threatens the metagame's most common Defoggers, Tapu Fini and Corviknight. Close Combat hits common Magic Bounce users such as Blissey and contributes to its strong offensive presence, threatening Ferrothorn and Heatran. The last moveslot is relatively flexible; Dragon Dance boosts Close Combat and turns Kommo-o into a dangerous sweeper, Clanging Scales hits opposing Kommo-o harder while threatening Ground-type such as Swampert, and Taunt shuts down recovery from Pokemon like Volt Absorb Corviknight, as well as blocking setup and entry hazards. Life Orb is usually preferred, but Magnet lets it do high damage to Tapu Fini and Corviknight without recoil. The given Speed EVs allow Kommo-o to outspeed Pokemon with 70 or less base Speed such as Bisharp, and a Rash nature alongside to the 28 EVs Attack EVs secure the 2HKO against RegenVest Swampert, while keeping its ability to take physical hits relatively well. Pivots such as Barraskewda appreciate entry hazards chipping their switch-ins. Despite being able to come in on Zarude one or two times, this Kommo-o set lacks longevity, and a secondary check to Zarude and Barraskewda is often required. Due to Kommo-o's weakness to common attackers such as Zapdos, Azelf, and Tapu Lele, strong answers to them like so RegenVest Jirachi and Blissey make great teammates; moreover, they can bring Kommo-o on the field to help it set up Stealth Rock.

Belly Drum, paired with Triage, turns Kommo-o into a deadly sweeper. After Belly Drum, Kommo-o's maxed-out Attack and priority Drain Punch make it incredibly difficult to stop with few reliable checks other than Prankster Toxapex, Unaware, and Psychic Surge. Kommo-o's fantastic natural bulk lets it set up on passive Pokemon such as Ferrothorn and defensive Landorus-T, along with Choice-item wallbreakers locked into a resisted move such as Zarude and Barraskewda. Drain Punch is the primary move, boasting +3 priority and making Kommo-o difficult to revenge kill thanks to its recovery. Thunder Punch hits Corviknight and Tapu Fini for super effective damage, who would otherwise tank Drain Punch. Substitute eases prediction and provides setup opportunities, while Dragon Claw gives Kommo-o a strong neutral attack on Pokemon such as Zapdos. X-Scissor allows Kommo-o to OHKO Dauntless Shield Mew at +6 with Life Orb. Sitrus Berry and 64 HP EVs allow Kommo-o to set up on Corviknight, while an Adamant nature gives it as much Attack investment as possible. Life Orb is a more aggressive option, allowing Kommo-o to OHKO Tapu Koko with Drain Punch. Belly Drum Kommo-o fits best on hyper offensive teams, but it can also effectively act as a lure on bulkier teams. Pairing Kommo-o with other physical threats such as Garchomp and Talonflame forms a nice physical spam core, letting each more easily overwhelm common defensive checks such as Zapdos and Tapu Fini. Tapu Koko and Regieleki provide dual screens support on hyper offensive, giving Kommo-o more opportunities to set up. On bulkier teams, slow pivots such as Swampert and Corviknight can bring in Kommo-o safely with their pivoting moves. Kommo-o is very weak to Triage Draining Kiss, so Assault Vest Jirachi is a valued partner; Jirachi also checks Psychic Surge Azelf. Finally, Zapdos and Tapu Koko can threaten Unaware Mandibuzz and Prankster Toxapex with their STAB Electric moves.

Kommo-o's great bulk, alongside its unique typing, allows it to check a wide variety of Pokemon in the AAA metagame. It can reliably switch into several prominent attackers like Zarude and Barraskewda, often punishing their attacks with Rocky Helmet, while also staying healthy with Regenerator. Dauntless Shield can be used instead to better soft check foes like Terrakion, but it makes Kommo-o very dependent on Leftovers or team support to stay healthy. Running no item is another option to nullify Poltergeist to check Dhelmise. Kommo-o also has good offensive presence with its powerful STAB Body Press, potentially boosted by Dauntless Shield, which can threaten many offensive and defensive Pokemon such as Ferrothorn and Zarude. It also threatens common Defoggers and Magic Bounce users like Corviknight and Blissey, allowing it to reliably set Stealth Rock. Dragon Tail phazes setup Pokemon that resist Body Press, and racks up Stealth Rock damage. Iron Defense can be used to effectively give it +2 Attack and Defense, notably allowing it to beat Corviknight one-on-one. Poison Jab is another option to threaten Fairy-types such as Tapu Fini and Tapu Koko, which are immune to Dragon Tail and take very little damage from Body Press, as well as fishing for poison on Pokemon that resist Body Press like Zapdos. Toxic is yet another option to reliably cripple Pokemon such as Tapu Fini. This set fits well in bulky offense and balance teams, which enjoy Kommo-o's longevity and ability to reliably set up Stealth Rock. Offensive Pokemon that are forced out by Zarude and Barraskewda such as Heatran and Sheer Force Tapu Lele greatly appreciate Kommo-o coming in on them and chipping them with Rocky Helmet. Defensively, Kommo-o and Tapu Fini cover each other's weaknesses and can check most physical attackers together. Despite its decent special bulk, Kommo-o can't usually take hits from special threats, so partners like Blissey and RegenVest Silvally-Dragon are often required. Kommo-o is particularly weak to Flying- and Fairy-types as they don't fear Body Press; thus, good answers to threats like Zapdos, Tapu Koko, and Tapu Lele are needed, for example Heatran and RegenVest Jirachi. Lastly, Kommo-o is completely unable to threaten Talonflame, so answers to it such as Zapdos are also good teammates.

Kommo-o is one of the best setup sweepers on Dragon thanks to Kommonium Z allowing it to omni-boost with Clanging Scales, and its useful coverage moves allow it to threaten various types such as Steel, Dark, Normal, and Poison. Clanging Scales is needed to use Kommonium Z, and it is also useful to hit Pokemon behind a Substitute such as Zapdos and Suicune. Drain Punch allows Kommo-o to take care of troubling Normal-, Steel-, Ice-, and Dark-types such as Blissey, Heatran, Mamoswine, and Tyranitar while giving it some passive recovery. Flamethrower goes well with its Fighting typing, as it enables Kommo-o to take care of other Steel- and Ice-types such as Mega Scizor, Corviknight, and Avalugg. Taunt is used to avoid phazing from Whirlwind users like Skarmory and Hippowdon and Toxapex's Haze, along with blocking Toxic from Pokemon like Aegislash and Blissey. Clangorous Soul is an option over Taunt to boost Kommo-o's stats even further, but it makes Kommo-o prone to being phazed by Mantine and a healthy Skarmory and has a huge drawback of costing a third of its HP. Soundproof is used to make Ditto and opposing Kommo-o unable to revenge kill Kommo-o with Clanging Scales. A Naive nature with 252 Speed EVs allows it to outpace Pokemon like Mamoswine, speed tie with Nidoking, and outspeed Mega Lopunny and Zeraora after using Kommonium Z. Garchomp is great to pair with Kommo-o, as it can set up Stealth Rock and take care of Pokemon like Jirachi for it. Kyurem is great to help beat Water-types that can hinder Kommo-o like Tapu Fini and Greninja with Freeze-Dry. Dragalge can provide Toxic Spikes to make it easier for Kommo-o to sweep in Normal- and Dark-type matchups and can use Flip Turn to safely bring in Kommo-o. Dragalge's Poison typing also allows it to come into special Fairy-type attacks from Tapu Koko and Tapu Fini and take care of them with Sludge Wave. Dragalge can also absorb Toxic Spikes to protect Kommo-o from being poisoned. Mega Altaria pairs well with Kommo-o, forming a Dark-type breaking core with Mega Altaria taking care of Mega Sableye and Mandibuzz while Kommo-o takes care of Bisharp. Latias is great speed control for Dragon teams, as it can take care of Keldeo, Mega Swampert, and Cloyster after it uses Shell Smash. It is also useful to get rid of entry hazards with Defog and bring back Kommo-o to full health with Healing Wish. Mega Latias is a great teammate for Kommo-o, as it can help greatly in the Flying-type matchup by taking care of Tornadus-T and Zapdos thanks to its BoltBeam coverage. Hydreigon helps greatly in the Psychic- and Ghost-type matchups taking care of threats like Blacephalon and Celebi. Hydreigon can also bring Kommo-o in with U-turn.

Moves Clanging Scales ignores Substitute from Volcarona and Kyurem-B, forcing them out. Close Combat lets Kommo-o hit Steel-types like Heatran and Magearna. Drain Punch is a viable alternative that provides Kommo-o with some extra longevity and still lets it threaten Pokemon like Ash-Greninja, Excadrill, and Mega Tyranitar. Poison Jab hits Fairy-types such as Tapu Fini and Clefable for decent damage and OHKOes offensive Tapu Bulu after Stealth Rock damage. Flamethrower lets Kommo-o threaten Steel-types that are neutral to Fighting such as Mega Scizor, Mega Mawile, and Skarmory as well as threaten Magearna on the switch in. Kommo-o is an effective Stealth Rock setter, as its decent bulk and good typing let it force out Pokemon like Ash-Greninja and Heatran, giving it plenty of free opportunities. Finally, Taunt shuts down any attempts at status, recovery, or Haze from the likes of Toxapex, Chansey, and Slowbro. Set Details Clangorous Soulblaze boosts Kommo-o's damage and gives it a one-time omniboost, allowing it to blow through physically defensive Pokemon and sweep late-game. Bulletproof provides Kommo-o with an immunity to bullet moves such as Ferrothorn's Gyro Ball and Blacephalon's Shadow Ball. Soundproof grants an immunity to opposing Clangorous Soulblaze. A Hasty nature allows Kommo-o to outspeed Mega Lopunny after a boost, and it is chosen over Naive to let Kommo-o take on Ash-Greninja and Heatran more comfortably. If Kommo-o runs Flamethrower, a spread of 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe should be used instead. Usage Tips Kommo-o should save its Z-Move for late-game scenarios where Fairy-types have been removed, since they are immune to Clangorous Soulblaze and prevent the stat boosts. Kommo-o's Z-Move will also be wasted if the opponent sacrifices a weakened Pokemon to entry hazards, so be wary of this. Kommo-o must be wary of the Defense and Special Defense drops from Clanging Scales and Close Combat, as this can make it more vulnerable to revenge killing attempts from Choice Scarf users like Landorus-T and Kartana. Kommo-o must also watch out for status users like Thunder Wave Chansey and Ferrothorn and Toxic Toxapex and Slowbro, as they can prevent it from sweeping; if Kommo-o has Taunt, then it should always use it against potential status users before setting up. Team Options This Kommo-o set fits best on offense and hyper offense teams where it can clean up after its teammates break down walls. Protean and Battle Bond Greninja are great partners if Kommo-o runs Stealth Rock, as they can directly wear down checks like Tapu Fini and Magearna with attacks and indirectly with Spikes. Protean Greninja is especially notable, as it can lure in and KO Fairy-types like Tapu Fini and Clefable with Gunk Shot. Strong wallbreakers like Mega Mawile and Mega Charizard X can force through walls and pave a way for Kommo-o to clean up. Magearna can take on the likes of Mega Alakazam, Tapu Lele, and Tornadus-T, while Kommo-o can take on Fire-types like Mega Charizard Y and Heatran for Magearna. On hyper offense teams, Fire-type partners like Mega Charizard X and Volcarona appreciate Kommo-o taking on Ash-Greninja, which usually gives hyper offense teams lots of trouble. In return, they can handle Fairy-types like Tapu Bulu and Clefable and force damage against Tapu Fini so that Kommo-o can clean up. Serperior can grant additional Taunt support to deter entry hazards, provide paralysis support with Glare, and threaten Tapu Fini.

Moves Substitute allows Kommo-o to punish switches or safely set up against Pokemon that don't pose a significant threat, as well as block status. Belly Drum enables Kommo-o to safely activate its Salac Berry behind a Substitute, allowing it to sweep more effectively. Drain Punch provides Kommo-o with much-needed recovery after using Substitute and Belly Drum, making it much harder to revenge kill. Thunder Punch allows Kommo-o to OHKO Pokemon like Tapu Fini, Toxapex, and Tornadus-T while also hitting other Fighting-resistant Pokemon, such as Reuniclus and Clefable. Frustration allows Kommo-o to effectively hit threats like Gliscor, Landorus-T, Mega Latios, Mega Latias, and various Fairy-types. Set Details 52 HP EVs allow Kommo-o to always activate Salac Berry after Substitute and Belly Drum. The rest of the EVs are put in Attack to hit as hard as possible. Bulletproof grants Kommo-o an immunity to bullet moves like Gyro Ball, Shadow Ball, and Sludge Bomb, allowing it to set up on Ferrothorn, Blacephalon, and Mega Venusaur, respectively. Usage Tips Kommo-o should be used mid- or late-game as a sweeper when its checks are weakened or KOed. Kommo-o's best setup opportunities are on passive Pokemon whose attacks it resists, like Rotom-Wash and Ferrothorn, or attackers it can chase out like Ash-Greninja and Heatran. Make sure not to switch Kommo-o in directly, even against resisted attacks, as the damage may prevent Kommo-o from setting up, making it useless offensively. Kommo-o is still slower than Choice Scarf users like Landorus-T, Kartana, and Tapu Lele even after a Salac Berry boost, and can be revenge killed if its Substitute is broken, so these Pokemon must be removed so that it can sweep. When facing status spreaders like Rotom-Wash, Gliscor, and Chansey, it's important to use Substitute before using Belly Drum. Team Options This set is best used on hyper offense teams due to its committal, high-risk, high-reward nature. Dedicated leads like Landorus-T, Mega Diancie, and Mew can set up entry hazards and prevent the opponent from getting their own hazards. Serperior is an excellent partner, offering Glare support, helping to break through Unaware walls with Taunt, and providing hazard removal. Magearna helps handle Psychic- and Fairy-types one-on-one, relieves Kommo-o of the pressure of checking threats like Ash-Greninja, and generally adds much-needed consistency to hyper offense builds. Mega Charizard X draws in Landorus-T and can thus force huge damage on it with Flare Blitz. Other physical attackers like Dragonite, Kartana, Mega Pinsir, and Gyarados are considered good partners in hyper offense teams, as they can force through shared checks for the other to clean up later in the game. This set can also be paired with dual screens users like Tapu Koko. Choice Scarf Tapu Lele helps Kommo-o from being prone to priority moves like Extreme Speed and Bullet Punch. Choice Scarf Victini is another strong option, offering Final Gambit support to help create setup opportunities for Kommo-o. Cresselia can use its Eject Button to disrupt Volt Switch from Rotom-Wash to stop it from switching out and bring Kommo-o in safely, and it grants Lunar Dance support to bring Kommo-o back in top condition for another chance to clean up.

Moves Dragon Dance allows Kommo-o to boost its attacking stats, with its advantages over Clangorous Soulblaze being that it cannot be blocked by Fairy-types, can be used more than once, and potentially frees up Kommo-o's item slot for alternate Z-Crystals. Close Combat is a strong STAB option that lets Kommo-o hit neutral targets for the highest possible damage. Ice Punch is a good coverage option that allows Kommo-o to hit Landorus-T, Gliscor, and Garchomp on their 4x weakness to Ice, as well as taking out other chipped Ice-weak targets like Tornadus-T and Mega Latias. When holding Groundium Z, Kommo-o can use Dragon Dance as Magearna or Toxapex is lured in and OHKO its switch-in on the next turn with Tectonic Rage. Alternatively, it can wield Poisonium Z to KO Tapu Fini and Clefable with a +1 Acid Downpour and Tapu Bulu with a +1 Poison Jab. Additionally, it can use a combination of Poison Jab followed by Acid Downpour to KO Unaware Clefable. Another option is Kommonium Z, combining the boosts of both Dragon Dance and Clangorous Soulblaze to increase Kommo-o's stats to an incredibly threatening level, as well as hitting physically defensive Pokemon like Landorus-T and Rotom-Wash on their weaker Special Defense. Set Details A Speed-boosting nature lets Kommo-o outspeed Timid Heatran and Gyarados, as well as Mega Lopunny at +1. When using the Kommonium Z variant, a Hasty nature is preferred to maximize the damage output from Clanging Scales and Clangorous Soulblaze. 252 Attack EVs are used to give Kommo-o the best chance to KO Unaware Clefable with the combination of Poison Jab into Acid Downpour. Groundium Z variants do not require maximum Attack investment to KO their intended targets, so a spread of 40 HP / 216 Atk / 252 Spe can be used instead to allow Kommo-o to survive three Seismic Tosses. Bulletproof Kommo-o can check Blacephalon via its immunity to Shadow Ball, with its immunity to Ferrothorn's Gyro Ball also being beneficial. Soundproof is another option, as it gives Kommo-o an immunity to opposing Clangorous Soulblaze. Usage Tips Poisonium Z and Groundium Z Kommo-o can utilize their sets not being revealed as a lethal weapon, taking advantage of the opponent's fear of Clangorous Soulblaze to lure in and remove Fairy-types and Haze Toxapex, respectively. Kommonium Z Kommo-o, on the other hand, is best suited to late-game situations where opposing Fairy-types have either been removed or chipped into range of its other attacks. Kommo-o can use its typing to come in on Choice Specs Greninja to set up a Dragon Dance as Greninja switches out. It can also utilize its offensive presence to create setup opportunities, using both the fear of Close Combat that Fighting-weak Pokemon like Ferrothorn and Chansey may have and the fear of a potential Clangorous Soulblaze held by physically defensive Pokemon like Landorus-T. If there are no better targets, then Kommo-o can use its Z-Move against neutral targets such as Mega Medicham and Volcarona to net a KO it otherwise wouldn't. After Kommo-o's Z-Move is used up, its capability as a threat is reduced, so sacrificing it to get chip damage on defensive Pokemon such as Landorus-T and Rotom-Wash is a viable option. The Kommonium Z variant can take advantage of opponents attempting to sacrifice a Pokemon to Clangorous Soulblaze by using Dragon Dance first instead, with Kommo-o then outpacing the unboosted metagame, ready to use the anticipated Clangorous Soulblaze on the next turn and come away with an extra Attack and Speed boost, making it much harder to deal with. Team Options These Kommo-o variants generally fit on offense and hyper offense teams that appreciate Kommo-o's ability to remove defensive Pokemon using an unanticipated Z-Move. Good teammate choices for Kommo-o depend on which Z-Crystal it is holding. Groundium Z Kommo-o can take out Assault Vest Magearna, benefitting special attackers like Choice Specs Greninja, Serperior, and Mega Alakazam. Poisonium Z provides Kommo-o a way to remove Unaware Clefable, which is invaluable for hyper offense teams containing Pokemon like Hawlucha that have an incredibly hard time against it. The Kommonium Z variant of Kommo-o appreciates Ash-Greninja for its ability to draw in and weaken Assault Vest Magearna and Tapu Fini, as they fall into KO range of Kommo-o's boosted attacks from switching into repeated Choice Specs Hydro Pumps.

Moves Kommo-o leverages its unique typing to scare out Pokemon like Ash-Greninja, Zapdos, and Heatran, allowing easy opportunities to set up Stealth Rock. Drain Punch threatens targets like Kartana, Mega Tyranitar, and Excadrill, and it extends Kommo-o's longevity. Close Combat is another Fighting-type option if you want Kommo-o to more immediately threaten Heatran and Chansey with a guaranteed 2HKO. Protect allows an additional turn of regaining health from Leftovers; it also helps Kommo-o scout for Choice-locked Pokemon like Tapu Lele and coverage moves that can pick it off like Ice Beam from Protean Greninja and Psychic from Volcarona. Roar phazes boosted sweepers like Substitute variants of Volcarona and forces Kommo-o's checks to take extra chip damage from entry hazards that it and its teammates have set up. Rock Slide is useful for threatening Mega Charizard Y and Volcarona with an immediate OHKO, especially if the latter tries to use Kommo-o as setup fodder. Lastly, Toxic punishes checks that attempt to come in and force Kommo-o out, like Tapu Lele, Cresselia, and Slowbro, and is necessary for wearing down other Fighting-resistant targets like Landorus-T and Zapdos. Set Details The given Speed investment allows Kommo-o to outspeed Adamant Tyranitar, while the rest of its EVs are dumped into HP and Special Defense. Alternatively, it can drop its Speed investment to 16 EVs to outspeed Adamant Crawdaunt, allowing it to invest more EVs in bulk. Leftovers is necessary to extend Kommo-o's longevity and negate the chip damage that it takes from Stealth Rock. Bulletproof is Kommo-o's preferred ability, providing an immunity to bullet moves like Blacephalon's Shadow Ball and Ferrothorn's Gyro Ball. Soundproof is another option to avoid being phazed by Roar and make Kommo-o immune to Clangorous Soulblaze, preventing Kommonium Z variants of opposing Kommo-o from revenge killing it. Usage Tips Specially defensive Kommo-o fills a unique role as a Stealth Rock setter that serves as a defensive check to a variety of targets like Ash-Greninja; Mega Tyranitar; Heatran; Electric-types like Zapdos, Rotom-Wash, and non-Dazzling Gleam Tapu Koko; and Grass-types like Serperior, Kartana, and Tapu Bulu. Aim to switch Kommo-o into these Pokemon so that it can nab a free opportunity to set up Stealth Rock. Part of Kommo-o's gameplan is to stick around to handle these Pokemon, so try to avoid any scenarios that can negate the recovery it gains from Leftovers, like burn, poison, and item removal; these reduce its longevity, especially if entry hazards are on the field. This situation is worsened if Kommo-o isn't paired with a Wish or Heal Bell user. Early- or mid-game, Kommo-o can also use free opportunities to use Toxic to punish Pokemon that attempt to force it out like Landorus-T and Tapu Lele. Try to use Protect to scout for Choice-locked Pokemon and any coverage moves that can threaten Kommo-o with major damage, and act accordingly. Avoid trying to use Stealth Rock or Toxic if the opponent has Mega Diancie or Mega Sableye on their side of the field, as both Pokemon can bounce both moves back at Kommo-o. Be careful with Kommo-o's passivity if it's facing teams featuring defensive staples like Toxapex, Tapu Fini, and Gliscor; these Pokemon can easily use it as an opening, with Toxapex spreading status and setting up hazards, Tapu Fini clearing Stealth Rock with Defog, and Gliscor setting up its own Stealth Rock, spreading status, or removing Kommo-o's Stealth Rock. Team Options This Kommo-o variant excels on bulky offense and balance teams, which appreciate its role compression of a Stealth Rock setter and a dedicated check to Heatran, Volcarona, and Ash-Greninja. Ferrothorn and Greninja have incredible synergy with Kommo-o because Kommo-o forms an entry hazard-stacking core with each of them, allowing them to pressure shared checks like Magearna and Mega Mawile. Ferrothorn also has the added benefit of providing Knock Off support, and its typing pairs well with Kommo-o, letting it handle Fairy- and Psychic-types like Tapu Fini, Tapu Lele, and Mega Alakazam; in return, Kommo-o deals with Fire-types that scare Ferrothorn out like Mega Charizard Y, Heatran, and Volcarona. Toxapex absorbs Toxic Spikes and sets up a layer of its own, putting pressure on targets like Slowbro and Tapu Lele. Roar variants of Kommo-o especially enjoy the hazard support these Pokemon provide, as this forces opposing teams to shuffle through and allows Kommo-o to rack up hazard damage over time. Other Steel-types like Jirachi, Mega Scizor, and Magearna pair well with Kommo-o, covering Fairy- and Psychic-types like Clefable, Tapu Lele, and Mega Alakazam, while Kommo-o deals with Fire-types like Mega Charizard Y, Heatran, and non-Psychic Volcarona. Jirachi passes Wish to help extend Kommo-o's longevity without having it rely too heavily on Leftovers and Drain Punch; Mega Scizor can provide Knock Off to remove important items like Black Sludge from Toxapex; and Magearna grants cleric support with Heal Bell, curing any status ailments that Kommo-o may have. Kommo-o also enjoys partnering with Mega Latias, as Mega Latias threatens Swords Dance Gliscor with Ice Beam and can serve as a late-game wincon with Calm Mind, benefitting from the passive damage that Kommo-o forces on the opposition. In return, Kommo-o puts a stop to Ash-Greninja and Mega Tyranitar, the latter of which threatens Mega Latias with Pursuit. Slowbro is another option for a bulky Psychic-type, since it solidly answers Mega Charizard X, a difficult Pokemon for balance archetypes to face. Gliscor is also a noteworthy teammate thanks to Poison Heal letting it soak up burns and Toxic, which ruin Kommo-o's longevity. Swords Dance Gliscor is a dangerous potential wincon on defensive archetypes, remedies Kommo-o's passivity, and heavily pressures stall archetypes. Weavile and Mega Tyranitar are also superb teammates for Kommo-o, as they eliminate bulky Psychic-types like Cresselia, Mega Latias, and Slowbro with Pursuit, taking some pressure off of Kommo-o. In return, Kommo-o covers solid defensive gaps for both of them by switching into Ash-Greninja.

Moves Clanging Scales serves as Kommo-o's main STAB attack, OHKOing Pokemon such as Greninja and Zygarde while also 2HKOing Pokemon such as offensive Mega Gyarados and Mega Venusaur. Its corresponding Z-Move, Clangorous Soulblaze, also boosts all of Kommo-o's stats by one stage, giving it not only the bulk to tank moves such as Never-Ending Nightmare from Aegislash and Tectonic Rage followed by Ice Shard from Donphan, but also the Speed necessary to outspeed base 100 Speed Pokemon such as Mega Charizard Y, Genesect, and Meloetta. Clanging Scales and Clangorous Soulblaze are both sound-based moves, allowing them to bypass Substitutes from Pokemon such as Jumpluff and Flail Mega Lopunny. Close Combat allows Kommo-o to take on Steel-types like Heatran, Magnezone, and Mega Aggron that resist its Dragon-type attacks. It can also more effectively deal with specially defensive Pokemon such as Mega Tyranitar, Chansey, Blissey, and Meloetta, all of which could be issues for Kommo-o if they are allowed to set up or stall. Unfortunately, Close Combat's Defense drops mean it shouldn't be spammed it in matchups against Pokemon like Mega Aggron and Meloetta, where sufficient bulk is important. Flamethrower allows Kommo-o to beat Pokemon such as Genesect, Scizor, stall Tapu Bulu, and Aegislash. It also helps damage Volcarona without activating Swarm, as well as avoid stat drops from Close Combat and Clanging Scales against Pokemon such as Mega Aggron, Volcarona, and Meloetta. Taunt shuts down several stall Pokemon such as Celesteela, Pyukumuku, Chansey, and Blissey, as well as preventing Aegislash from using King's Shield to enter its Shield forme or Metal Sound or Laser Focus to bypass Kommo-o's Special Defense. Set Details 240 HP and 100 Special Defense EVs with a Calm nature are used to ensure Kommo-o survives a Choice Specs Greninja's Ice Beam and other powerful special attacks like Choice Scarf Porygon-Z's Hyper Beam, Choice Specs Genesect's Ice Beam, and Mega Charizard Y's Air Slash. The 240 HP EVs maximize Kommo-o's physical bulk, letting it tank Zen Headbutt from Adamant Choice Band Victini, Outrage from an offensive Mega Gyarados, and Fake Out followed by Giga Impact from an Adamant Mega Lopunny relatively comfortably. 28 Attack EVs guarantee that Kommo-o's Close Combat is able to OHKO standard Mega Lopunny, even with a Calm nature. 56 EVs in Speed allow Kommo-o to reach 330 Speed after a Clangorous Soulblaze, letting it outspeed and defeat Pokemon such as Mega Charizard Y and Choice Band Victini. The remaining EVs are put into Special Attack, allowing Kommo-o to OHKO Greninja with Clangorous Soulblaze. Both Soundproof and Overcoat can be run on Kommo-o, as each ability has its own niche. Soundproof ensures Kommo-o doesn't always lose to Ditto, opposing Kommo-o, and avoids an unreliable matchup against Metal Sound Aegislash. Overcoat allows Kommo-o to beat a Transformed Smeargle with Clangorous Soulblaze, as a Transformed Smeargle with Soundproof would be immune to it, along with beating non-Flyinium Vivillon as well. Kommo-o can run a faster, less bulky variant with 88 HP / 28 Atk / 4 Def / 136 SpA / 252 Spe EVs and a Timid nature in order to outspeed and beat bulky Mega Charizard X and Modest Breakneck Blitz Porygon-Z, both of which are threats to standard Kommo-o, while still being able to beat Mega Lopunny and Mega Gyarados. However, with this set it loses to virtually every special attacker it can beat with the standard set, and thus this set should only be run as a niche anti-meta option with very supportive teammates. Additionally, a more offensive EV spread of 128 HP / 252 SpA / 128 Spe can be run in order to have a better matchup against bulky Meta Metagross, and faster threats like offensive Mega Lucario. Usage Tips Against bulky special attackers such as Meloetta and Volcarona, Kommo-o should use Clanging Scales and Flamethrower in order to get them in range of Close Combat, as they both have ways to raise their Special Defense but not their Defense. Avoid sending Kommo-o in against any Fairy- and Dragon-type Pokemon, as it cannot deal with any of them except stall Tapu Bulu and Zygarde. Soundproof Kommo-o can consistently beat Metal Sound Aegislash through the following steps. On turn one, Kommo-o should use Clangorous Soulblaze to boost its defenses before Aegislash attacks; this is essential in avoiding significant damage from Aegislash's Z-Move. Then, Kommo-o should use Taunt to disable King's Shield and then KO Aegislash with Flamethrower. This strategy guarantees that Kommo-o always beats Aegislash, as +1 Kommo-o survives Aegislash's Z-Move followed by Shadow Ball and Shadow Sneak. Overcoat Kommo-o will unfortunately have to predict whether or not it uses Metal Sound or attacks, making this variant less reliable. Team Options Kommo-o is generally weak against Fairy-, Ice-, Psychic-, Flying-, and Dragon-type Pokemon; naturally bulky Steel-types such as Magearna, Heatran, Aegislash, and Mega Metagross can all provide an excellent defensive backbone against most threats of the aforementioned types, such as Mega Altaria, Kyurem, and Vivillon. Kommo-o can also cover the weaknesses possessed by Steel-types by reliably beating most Ground-, Fire-, and Fighting-types, such as Sturdy Pokemon, Zygarde, Heatran, and standard Mega Lopunny. Alongside the Steel-types, run options in order to cover up a few matchups that Steel-types don't universally cover, such as against Mega Charizard X, Supersonic Skystrike Landorus-T, Dragonite, and Naganadel. Mega Slowbro, Stored Power Necrozma, Mega Gyarados, Chansey, and Blissey can all fill this role. In exchange, Kommo-o can beat most Dark- and Fighting-type Pokemon such as Mega Gyarados, Greninja, Pheromosa, and Keldeo. Besides the aforementioned, Kommo-o appreciates Pokemon that universally cover Dragon-types, as, except for Zygarde, they all have favorable matchups against Kommo-o. Pokemon that can beat every viable Dragon-type in the metagame include Mega Diancie and specially defensive Mega Altaria. Sturdy users such as Magnezone, Crustle, Donphan, and Carracosta can also serve as excellent teammates, as they can tank overwhelming offensive moves that Kommo-o has trouble with, such as a Breakneck Blitz from Porygon-Z and Outrage from Mega Charizard X, and hit back hard. Magnezone is especially relevant, as it can take on Fairy-type Pokemon in the tier. In return, Sturdy Pokemon appreciate the favorable matchups Kommo-o has against traditional Sturdy breakers such as Mega Gyarados and Mega Lopunny.

Moves All-Out Pummeling is the main attack of Kommo-o, giving it one fully accurate nuke that can potentially OHKO even Porygon2. Focus Blast itself, while inaccurate, can still function as a very strong STAB move if the Z-move has been used. Clanging Scales is a strong STAB spread move that can hit Dragon-types like Garchomp and Salamence very hard. Flamethrower rounds up Kommo-o's coverage quite nicely, allowing it to OHKO Kartana and do a solid amount to Celesteela. Protect is used to scout the opponent's attack and protect Kommo-o from dangerous moves. Set Details Max Special attack investment and Modest nature are to hit as hard as possible, allowing Kommo-o to OHKO 4 HP Salamence with Clanging Scales most of time. Fightinium Z allows Kommo-o to use All-Out Pummeling. Max HP increases bulk, while 12 Speed EVs allows Kommo-o to outspeed uninvested Tapu Fini. A spread of 196 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpA / 44 SpD / 12 Spe can be used if Kommo-o is paired with Tapu Fini, allowing it to tank Devastating Drake from Salamence with Misty Terrain on and have a small chance to OHKO back with Clanging Scales as Salamence is not affected by Misty Terrain. Overcoat should be used if Kommo-o is used on a sand or hail team. It also allows Kommo-o to shut down Torkoal + Lilligant very effectively, as Kommo-o is immune to Sleep Powder with Overcoat. Bulletproof gives Kommo-o immunity to certain moves like Shadow Ball and Sludge Bomb. Usage Tips Kommo-o is generally most effective mid- or late-game, when its biggest threats are removed and it can finish off weakened targets with Clanging Scales. Leading with Kommo-o is not a bad option however if the opponent has Porygon2. Make sure to switch Kommo-o out if the opponent happens to lead with a Fairy-type like Tapu Koko. Use All-Out Pummeling to take out a single bulky target. After that generally just spam Clanging Scales. Team Options Having partners to deal with Fairy-types is necessary. Steel-types such as Kartana, Metagross, and Celesteela are great partners for Kommo-o as they can threaten Fairy-types fairly nicely. Ninetales is a great partner as it can use Aurora Veil to make Kommo-o very bulky, giving Kommo-o the ability to survive Life Orb Tapu Koko's Dazzling Gleam. The combination of Blizzard and Clanging Scales can do devastating spread damage. Kommo-o is also immune to hail with Overcoat. While Tapu Fini weakens Clanging Scales, it's still a good partner as it allows Kommo-o to tank opposing Dragon-type attacks more effectively. Tapu Fini also appreciates Kommo-o's ability to threaten Kartana, one of the biggest threats to Tapu Fini. Wide Guard support can be useful to block Dazzling Gleam from some Fairy-types that rely on it as a STAB move, such as Tapu Koko. Pelipper gets a special mention as it has access to Tailwind, a move that Kommo-o greatly appreciates.

Moves Clanging Scales is used to gain the stat boosts from Clangorous Soulblaze. Its solid special power also allows it to break down physically defensive foes such as Avalugg, Pelipper, and Landorus-T. Dragon Dance amplifies Kommo-o's offensive presence by boosting both its Attack and Speed stats. Boosting both of these stats not only allows Kommo-o to function better as a setup sweeper without having to utilize Clangorous Soulblaze prematurely but can also help to check offensive threats like Greninja, which would be harder to handle otherwise. Close Combat is Kommo-o's best physical STAB move, being able to break down bulky walls such as Ferrothorn, Porygon2, and Cradily. Earthquake acts as a coverage option against other foes that don't resist it, namely Victini, Jirachi, Klefki, and Toxapex. Poison Jab hits Fairy-types that resist both of Kommo-o's STAB moves, namely Tapu Koko, Tapu Bulu, and Azumarill. Set Details Maximum investment in Attack allows Kommo-o to maximize its physical power at base value. Maximum investment in Speed paired with a Naive nature allow Kommo-o to Speed tie with other base 85 Speed foes, such as Nidoking and Heracross, and to outspeed Mega Lopunny and Mega Alakazam at +1. Kommonium Z is required in order to use Clangorous Soulblaze, which allows Kommo-o to receive its stat boosts. Soundproof is used primarily to prevent opposing Kommo-o from using Clangorous Soulblaze and also prevent Ditto from utilizing Clanging Scales after copying Kommo-o's boosts. Usage Tips Dragon Dance Kommo-o primarily assists Dragon teams against Normal teams, as its Fighting-type STAB move is extremely beneficial for breaking down Normal teams' notorious defensive backbone. In these cases, use Dragon Dance in the face of Chansey, as it forces the opponent into a defensive option while also providing Kommo-o with a free turn of setup. Never use Clangorous Soulblaze too early unless the matchup is heavily skewed in Dragon's favor, such as against Fire and Grass teams. Otherwise, you must find opportunities to use Clangorous Soulblaze safely, such as when the foe is weakened or Choice-locked into a move that Kommo-o resists. Instances of these cases include using Clangorous Soulblaze on Greninja that's Choice-locked into Dark Pulse or Victini that's Choice-locked into V-create. Avoid using Clangorous Soulblaze against opposing Kommo-o and Ditto, as they become immune to it because of Soundproof, and in turn, Kommo-o won't receive stat boosts. Also, avoid using the Z-Move against healthy Fairy-types, such as Tapu Bulu on Grass and Mimikyu on Ghost, as they can easily switch into the move and prevent any potential stat boost. Use Dragon Dance in situations where Kommo-o faces a Pokemon with mainly utility options, such as Ferrothorn or Forretress. These kinds of foes typically do not run a status-inducing move and therefore make it safer to apply offensive pressure to the foes while taking minimal damage from their attacks. Physical Kommo-o can't take a chance at sweeping teams if it is statused, so avoid taking hits that could inflict those conditions, such as Scald, Discharge, and Sludge Bomb. By removing foes such as Mega Pinsir on Bug teams, Toxapex and Mantine on Water teams, and Ditto and Staraptor on Normal teams, it becomes much easier for Kommo-o to act as a very deadly late-game sweeper through setting up with Dragon Dance or utilizing its Z-Move, as the opponent would have no clear way to prevent it at this point. Team Options Latias is a fantastic partner for Kommo-o, being able to Defog entry hazards away and provide Healing Wish support to give Kommo-o a second chance at sweeping teams if it ever is weakened. Mega Latias overall has great bulk that it can use to sponge hits for Kommo-o and can also recover off the damage through Roost. Latios provides similar assistance by also removing hazards with Defog. Unlike Latias, however, Latios takes a more offensive approach to Kommo-o's setup by hindering walls and utility Pokemon with Trick and also using Memento on offensive powerhouses such as Excadrill and Blacephalon, decreasing the damage Kommo-o takes and enabling Kommo-o to set up more reliably while also threatening to remove an offensive presence. Kyurem-B offers a neutrality to Ice that all Dragon-types appreciate and also threatens physically defensive foes that Kommo-o can't break as easily, such as Skarmory and Zapdos. Hydreigon checks offensive Psychic-types that would otherwise threaten Kommo-o, such as Mew and Alakazam. Garchomp provides Stealth Rock support that breaks Sturdy and Focus Sashes on Pokemon like Skarmory, Gengar, and Dugtrio and provides valuable chip damage against foes that typically don't utilize a recovery option, such as Dragonite and Gyarados. Stealth Rock also provides residual damage that can put foes in range of a KO from Kommo-o, which is especially useful in late-game scenarios. Mega Altaria provides a Dragon immunity with its additional Fairy typing and can force Choice-locked Dragon-types like Latios and Hydreigon out.

Moves Clanging Scales is Kommo-o's most powerful and spammable move and allows it to use Clangorous Soulblaze, denting the majority of Pokemon that do not resist it and boosting all of Kommo-o's stats. Flamethrower rounds out the coverage very well, as it can hit Steel-types such as Skarmory and Mega Scizor as well as certain Fairy-types such as Tapu Bulu and Klefki, which all wall Kommo-o otherwise. Taunt shuts down more passive Pokemon such as Swampert and Hippowdon by preventing them from recovering HP, spreading status, and neutralizing Kommo-o with Haze and phazing moves. Close Combat's main use is for breaking past specially defensive Pokemon like Alolan Muk and Chansey that would otherwise wall Kommo-o. Earthquake can be used over Close Combat in order to hit Electric-types such as Tapu Koko while still hitting key targets like Alolan Muk and Heatran for super effective damage. Lastly, Drain Punch is another viable alternative over Close Combat that increases Kommo-o's longevity against walls like Chansey in tandem with Taunt. Set Details 252 EVs in Speed alongside a Naive nature maximizes Kommo-o's Speed stat in order to outspeed as much of the metagame as possible without sacrificing its damage output. The rest is invested into Special Attack in order for Kommo-o to fulfill its role as a specially biased mixed sweeper. Bulletproof gives Kommo-o a far easier matchup against Mega Venusaur when combined with Taunt by making it immune to Sludge Bomb and also allows it to pressure certain Pokemon such as Blacephalon. Kommonium Z is required in order to give Kommo-o access to Clangorous Soulblaze. Usage Tips While Kommo-o can be a very dangerous late-game sweeper with Clangorous Soulblaze, it is extremely important to be selective when deciding when to set up, since it only works once throughout the game. Specifically watch out for potential Fairy-types, as they can waste its Z-Move and proceed to check it with their STAB moves. However, Kommo-o can switch in on certain Fairy-types such as Tapu Bulu, giving it some use in the matchup. Use Clangorous Soulblaze once all of its checks and counters such as Mega Diancie and Latios have been weakened or KOed in order for Kommo-o to effectively sweep later in the game. Kommo-o serves as a great answer to problematic Poison-types like Mega Venusaur and Toxapex, so it is recommended to safely bring it out on these Pokemon in order for its teammates to have an easier time later on. Use Taunt when expecting a potential Haze from Mantine and other problematic status moves like Leech Seed from Mega Venusaur before attempting to set up. Kommo-o should remain healthy before attempting to sweep, as it becomes far easier to revenge kill once chipped down, especially since it has no reliable way to recover HP. It is important to avoid status, as Kommo-o's Speed is crippled by paralysis and it can be easily worn down by poison and burns. Team Options Kommo-o benefits the team by providing the role of a good special setup sweeper, something Fighting usually lacks. Mega Gallade is an excellent partner for Kommo-o, as it is a great wallbreaker that can punch holes into troublesome Pokemon like Kyurem-B early-game in order to give Kommo-o a great opportunity to sweep. It also eases Kommo-o's load in the Poison matchup, serving as an additional check to Toxapex and Mega Venusaur. Keldeo is another wallbreaker that aids Kommo-o in important matchups such as Ground thanks to its immediate power and coverage. Choice Scarf Terrakion offers a terrific way of keeping faster foes in check in problematic matchups like Flying, outspeeding the majority of the metagame and revenge killing many important Pokemon such as Tapu Koko while Kommo-o can pressure defensive Pokemon like Skarmory for it. Entry hazard support from Cobalion goes very well with Kommo-o's ability to force many switches and gradually wears down its checks. Cobalion also offers an important neutrality to Fairy, being able to survive attacks such as Mega Diancie's Moonblast. Additionally, its Thunder Wave support somewhat alleviates Kommo-o's mediocre Speed stat, and Volt Switch helps provide momentum. Heracross and Buzzwole both help Kommo-o with the problematic Psychic matchup due to their Bug typing, with the former being able to Pursuit trap threats and the latter sporting incredible physical bulk. Breloom can potentially give Kommo-o a safe opportunity to set up thanks to its access to Spore and provides the team with a secondary setup sweeper with Swords Dance. Kommo-o covers its Fire weakness very well in return. Hawlucha offers support by providing hazard removal while outspeeding nearly the entire metagame after an Unburden boost, allowing it to clean through faster foes such as Latios for Kommo-o.

Moves Clanging Scales is Kommo-o's strongest STAB move and allows it to unleash Clangorous Soulblaze. After the omniboost, Clanging Scales becomes a much more potent threat that is capable of breaking down many walls such as Toxapex and Mega Venusaur with ease. Additionally, its sound-based properties allow it to damage Pokemon such as Suicune through their Substitutes. Drain Punch enables Kommo-o to recover its health as well as threaten Normal- and Steel-types such as Chansey and Heatran. Flamethrower is great coverage against Steel-types such as Celesteela and Mega Scizor that are neutral to Kommo-o's Fighting-type STAB moves. Taunt prevents foes such as Hippowdon and Toxapex from removing its stat boosts through phazing or Haze. Set Details Maximum investment in Special Attack and Speed when paired with a Naive nature allows Kommo-o to hit as hard and fast as possible. At +1 Speed, Kommo-o can outspeed foes such as Mega Lopunny and Zeraora. Soundproof is used to prevent opposing Kommo-o from using Clangorous Soulblaze themselves, as well as Ditto from utilizing Clanging Scales after copying Kommo-o's boosts. It also has smaller merits by making Kommo-o immune to Azumarill's Perish Song and Mega Gardevoir's Hyper Voice. Kommonium Z is used in combination with Clanging Scales in order to use Kommo-o's exclusive Z-Move, Clangorous Soulblaze. Usage Tips Kommo-o should only use Clangorous Soulblaze in safe situations, such as on a guaranteed KO or a forced switch. For example, the latter situation can occur when it safely switches into moves that it resists, such as against Victini Choice-locked into V-create. Preserving Kommo-o is key versus Steel teams, a type that Dragon teams would traditionally struggle with, as the combination of Clangorous Soulblaze, Drain Punch, and Flamethrower may outright sweep them under the right conditions. It should also be kept healthy versus opposing Dragon teams, as Kommo-o can halt opposing Kommo-o from using Clanging Scales and Clangorous Soulblaze through Soundproof while also being able to set up and sweep them if they lack Mega Altaria or Choice Scarf Latios. Avoid using Clangorous Soulblaze against Ditto, opposing Kommo-o, or Fairy-types, as they can block the attack through their attained Soundproof or their Dragon immunity. While Clanging Scales is a powerful move, keep in mind the Defense drops Kommo-o will get, as too many drops can grant physical priority users such as Dragonite and Weavile opportunities to chip away at its health. Against Haze users and phazers such as Mantine and Hippowdon, Kommo-o should use Taunt first to ensure that it doesn't lose its omniboost. However, be mindful of Z-Haze Toxapex in particular, which can prevent Kommo-o from utilizing its omniboost regardless of if it's Taunted. Because Kommo-o serves as a powerful setup sweeper, it should be preserved as much as possible in order to successfully sweep teams. It should also avoid status at all costs, especially paralysis, as this severely hampers its ability to function as a setup sweeper. Using Taunt against known status inducers such as Jirachi and Porygon2 helps to shut them down. Team Options Kyurem-B assists Kommo-o by checking opposing Dragon-types such as Mega Altaria and Dragonite, checking other threatening foes such as Azumarill, and providing it with an Ice-type neutrality, which helps against foes such as Greninja and Nidoking. Dragonite uses its powerful offensive coverage to blow past common defensive walls such as Toxapex and Mega Venusaur, and it can also threaten to finish off faster foes with Extreme Speed such as Greninja and Mega Lopunny for unboosted Kommo-o. Choice Scarf Latios partners well with Kommo-o by checking faster Pokemon such as Greninja and Kyurem-B. It also has additional utility as a consistent Defogger, which helps to prevent entry hazards from chipping away Kommo-o, and can utilize Trick to cripple bulkier foes such as Porygon2 and Zapdos, which permits Kommo-o to set up and sweep more easily. Choice Scarf Latias can be used as an alternative for Latios by acting as a bulkier Defogger and carrying better utility options in general. In return, Kommo-o provides the ability to heavily threaten Steel-types, which Latias greatly appreciates. Garchomp provides Stealth Rock support and chips away at foes such as Dragonite and Gyarados, putting them in range of Kommo-o's attacks. Mega Altaria is a critical teammate against opposing Dragon teams, as it becomes immune to Dragon-type moves upon Mega Evolving and can threaten them through its Pixilate-boosted attacks, and it can also take on Kommo-o's other checks such as Mega Gallade. Additionally, it can also be a utility teammate through the use of Defog and Heal Bell, which can grant Kommo-o safer opportunities to set up. Hydreigon helps Kommo-o against Psychic teams that would otherwise threaten it, whether it be through firing off Dark Pulse or pivoting out with U-turn to keep up offensive momentum. Dragalge, while a niche pick, assists Kommo-o by providing coverage against threatening Fairy-types such as Mega Diancie and Tapu Koko and setting Toxic Spikes to help against bulkier foes such as Azumarill and Porygon2.

戰術分析
Moves Clanging Scales is a very strong spread STAB move and the move Kommo-o wants to be using most often after it boosts. It also functions as the base move for Kommonium Z. Flamethrower is for Steel-type targets like Mega Metagross, Ferrothorn, and Genesect. Substitute improves Kommo-o's matchup versus Amoonguss or Toxic users and allows it to burn some extra turns after a boost while a partner handles a specific threat. Alternatively, Close Combat allows Kommo-o to deal large amounts of damage to Dark-types like Incineroar and Tyranitar as well as bulky Normal-types like Porygon2. Flash Cannon or Poison Jab are usable options in this third slot to hit Fairy-types harder, with Flash Cannon offering an immediate reversal of an otherwise automatic loss matchup to Diancie. Still, Kommo-o's teammates should be handling opposing Fairy-types, so the other moves slashed are often preferable. Protect is important because there are often situations where Kommo-o's health needs to be preserved so its partner can deal with a threat and ensure Kommo-o can effectively act as a wincon. It is also useful for stalling out opposing speed control and field conditions. Set Details Kommonium Z turns Kommo-o's Clanging Scales into Clangorous Soulblaze and thus allows Kommo-o to do a lot of spread damage while boosting all of its stats. Soundproof is used in order to prevent moves like Snarl and Roar from affecting Kommo-o, as well as allowing Kommo-o to be immune to an opposing Kommo-o's Clanging Scales. A Timid nature coupled with maximum Speed and Special Attack EVs allows Kommo-o to set up before as many Pokemon as possible and ensures it can do as much damage as possible after boosting, but if Kommo-o is running Close Combat or Poison Jab, it can instead opt for a Hasty nature to avoid lowering their damage output. Usage Tips It is very important to use at least one Pokemon with Kommo-o that functions as a pivot, such as U-turn Incineroar or Volt Switch Tapu Koko, as this creates many more opportunities for Kommo-o to safely get on the field and boost. Incineroar's rather slow U-turn is especially useful, as Incineroar will soak up the damage before getting Kommo-o safely onto the field. Kommo-o can use Clangorous Soulblaze early in the game in order to apply pressure on a favorable matchup, though it is generally easier to boost mid- or late-game when Kommo-o's checks have been weakened to the point where Kommo-o can act as a wincon. Kommo-o should never be taking significant damage before it is ready to use its Z-Move, as it will generally be the team's wincon. Once boosted, Kommo-o should be attacking to apply pressure as much as possible, and when it is at low health, it is usually not worth it to preserve Kommo-o, as it has already used its Z-Move, so firing off that last bit of damage will be more beneficial. Be sure that any opposing Tapu Fini is either KOed or severely weakened before boosting, as Misty Terrain takes away most of Kommo-o's damage output, and Tapu Fini easily soaks up any attack from Kommo-o and will return a KO with Moonblast. If the opposing team has two Pokemon immune to Clangorous Soulblaze, either in the form of two Fairy-types or a Fairy-type and opposing Kommo-o, they can prevent Clangorous Soulblaze from working by having both on the field to block the attack, thereby nullifying the boost. Team Options Pokemon with U-turn or Volt Switch, such as Incineroar, Genesect, and Tapu Koko, are essential teammates, as they allow Kommo-o to get on the field to boost safely. Incineroar in particular is also helpful thanks to Fake Out, as that can prevent Kommo-o from taking some damage as it sets up and let it use that boost to deal with the threat. Kommo-o will need partners that comfortably switch into Fairy- and Ice-type attacks; Steel- and Fire-types like Genesect and Volcanion can perform this role easily. More than one of Kommo-o's teammates should be more than well equipped to deal with all of the opposing Island Guardians, but Tapu Fini in particular. Tapu Koko and Tapu Bulu can easily beat opposing Tapu Fini and override its Misty Terrain, while Kartana and Suicune can handily do well against some opposing Fairy-types, with the added benefit of providing speed control through Tailwind. Mega Charizard Y gets a special mention here, as it can run Tailwind, boosts Kommo-o's Flamethrower with Drought, and handles most of the opposing Fairy- and Grass- types that Kommo-o doesn't threaten very much. Redirection can be very helpful to allow Kommo-o both to boost and then avoid damage while it tries to sweep. Rage Powder Amoonguss is a good option that also deals with opposing Tapu Fini, Tapu Bulu, and Tapu Koko, while Volcarona can also provide Tailwind support.
