Rotom can serve as a solid Defog user with its good matchup against various entry hazard setters such as Mesprit and Sandslash. Furthermore, it is able to cripple various other hazard setters such as Gigalith and Druddigon with Will-O-Wisp. Will-O-Wisp also powers up Hex, which should only be run alongside it. Thunderbolt is an option for the last slot if you want to give Rotom more of an offensive presence, although Pain Split is an option to increase Rotom's longevity that pairs well with its low HP stat. Colbur Berry allows for Rotom to better check Fighting-types and other Knock Off users, such as Sawk, but Heavy-Duty Boots is a secondary option so it can take no damage from Stealth Rock. While Rotom does have a nice defensive typing, it is recommended to not switch it into attacks too many times, as it is easily worn down with its only okay bulk, especially without Pain Split. Pokemon that are easily worn down by entry hazards, such as Gallade and Sandaconda, appreciate Rotom's hazard removal.

Choice Scarf allows Rotom to utilize its solid Speed to outspeed various other Choice Scarf users, such as Kabutops and Mesprit, as well as gain momentum with Volt Switch. While Trick is run to cripple specially defensive Pokemon that may try to switch in on Rotom, such as Lanturn and Gigalith, it can also be used to potentially put a stop to bulky setup Pokemon such as Uxie. Rotom is best used as a revenge killer or brought in by slow pivots such as defensive Mesprit and defensive Silvally-Fairy, which furthermore form a solid VoltTurn core with it. Wallbreakers such as Gallade benefit from being brought in through Rotom's Volt Switch.

戰術分析
With great status moves and Volt Switch, Rotom is a great offensive pivot that offers solid utility. Defog is great on teams that need entry hazard control, while Pain Split provides Rotom with a form of recovery. Will-O-Wisp cripples physical attackers and Ground-types such as Rhydon, Kangaskhan, Thwackey, and Piloswine, and it also boosts the power of Hex. Colbur Berry prevents Rotom from being KOed by Sawk's Knock Off, which gives Rotom a chance to cripple it with a burn, while Heavy-Duty Boots allows Rotom to avoid taking Stealth Rock damage when pivoting. Sitrus Berry can be used for more general increased longevity and is preferred over Leftovers due to the constant pivoting. Rotom is best used on bulky offense and balance teams that benefit from its ability to disrupt opposing teams and offer support with Defog. Pokemon such as Kangaskhan, Thwackey, and Sawk that appreciate Rotom's ability to bring them in safely; and in return, they can make up for Rotom's lack of immediate power, as it is reliant on spreading burns in order to maximize its power. Offensive threats such as Rapidash, Ninetales, and Skuntank appreciate Rotom's ability to lure in Ground-types and cripple them with burns. Rapidash and Ninetales also benefit from Defog and Rotom forcing out Water-types like Poliwrath and Cramorant. Skuntank helps Rotom by checking faster Ghost-types such as Gourgeist-S and Choice Scarf Rotom and Dark-types like Shiftry and Thievul. Other status inducers like Thunder Wave Qwilfish and utility Rapidash pair well with Hex.

戰術分析
Nasty Plot Rotom is a great wallbreaker on offensive teams. With a single boost, Rotom OHKOes physical walls such as Tangela and Poliwrath and has a chance to 2HKO specially defensive walls such as Clefairy and Articuno. Substitute lets Rotom block status attempts from Altaria and Miltank and set up on them freely. Thwackey can lure in Flying-types and bring in Rotom safely so it can freely set up with Nasty Plot. In return, Rotom can break past physical walls such as Tangela, Poliwrath, and Altaria, which Thwackey struggles with. Late-game cleaners such Alcremie benefit greatly from Rotom's ability to weaken special walls such as Galarian Stunfisk and Articuno. Teleport Clefairy is a great defensive pivot that can absorb Dark-type attacks from revenge killers like Silvally-Dark and Choice Scarf Sawk. Rotom also appreciates having Knock Off users like Shiftry and Alolan Persian to weaken special walls such as Throh and Clefairy.

戰術分析
Choice Scarf improves Rotom's revenge killing capabilities at the cost of some wallbreaking power; it outpaces foes like Froslass, Silvally-Poison, and Choice Scarf Sawk. Volt Switch can be used to pick off weakened foes while also keeping momentum against potential switch-ins. Trick can be used once there isn't a need for Rotom's revenge killing purposes and punishes passive walls like Galarian Stunfisk and Articuno. Thunderbolt makes for a great cleaning move, as it is a stronger Electric-type STAB move that doesn't force Rotom out. Alternatively, Will-O-Wisp cripples opposing targets, namely physical Ground-types like Rhydon, Piloswine, and Galarian Stunfisk, while Defog is useful on teams that cannot fit entry hazard removal elsewhere. Rotom enjoys the luxury of being able to use Volt Switch as often as possible, so having a entry hazard remover such as Articuno, Altaria, or Coalossal is a good idea. Pairing Rotom with Pokemon that can deal with Ground-types like Poliwrath and Gourgeist-S is also recommended to achieve this goal. Rotom also benefits greatly from entry hazard support, as it wants to use Volt Switch often to force out common Pokemon like Qwilfish and Articuno and wear down common switch-ins such as Throh and Clefairy. Good examples of entry hazard setters include Miltank, Qwilfish, and Rhydon. Physically offensive threats such as Sawk, Rapidash, and Silvally-Dark benefit from Rotom's ability to bring them in safely after forcing out their checks. Rotom is great on VoltTurn cores and works well with other pivots such as Articuno, Silvally formes, and Thwackey.

戰術分析
Rotom is one of the most threatening special attackers in ZU due to the lack of Pokemon that resist its STAB combination. Choice Specs further facilitates Rotom's wallbreaking power by letting it nab 2HKOs on most walls, while its solid Speed allows it to revenge kill a weakened Skuntank or Klinklang. Volt Switch lets Rotom gain momentum on Water- and Flying-types and get out of bad matchups against threats such as Throh and Appletun. Trick can be used not only to immediately cripple the aforementioned specially defensive walls but also to punish Ground-types that may attempt to block its Volt Switch attempts, such as Stunfisk and Piloswine. Rotom is susceptible to being revenge killed by faster Dark-types like Alolan Persian and Silvally-Dark if it is locked into Shadow Ball; therefore, it is imperative to pair Rotom with Fighting- or Fairy-types such as Sawk, Gurdurr, Alcremie, and Clefairy. The aforementioned Fighting-types also benefit from Rotom's ability to break past physical walls such as Tangela and Uxie and can deal with Normal-types like Kangaskhan and Miltank so Rotom can use Shadow Ball more freely. Pivots such as Thwackey and Silvally formes make for great partners, as they can bring Rotom in safely and form a solid VoltTurn core. Tangela and Appletun can switch into Ground-types like Stunfisk and Rhydon should Rotom lock into an Electric-type move.

Moves Thunderbolt is Rotom's strongest move to hit Incineroar with and threatens bulky Water-types like Slowking and Vaporeon. Shadow Ball targets common switch-ins to Rotom's Electric-type attacks like Rhydon, Steelix, Druddigon, and Alolan Exeggutor. Volt Switch potentially lets Rotom threaten its switch-ins more effectively than it can itself by bringing in the appropriate check to them. Trick enables Rotom to cripple defensive switch-ins like Steelix, Druddigon, and Bulk Up Scrafty. Alternatively, Defog can be used so Rotom can provide further utility to its team, although being locked into it leaves Rotom very vulnerable to setup sweepers and Pursuit trappers. Set Details Maximum Special Attack and Speed investment with a Timid nature and Choice Specs makes Rotom very potent offensively, enabling it to 2HKO Swords Dance Incineroar with Thunderbolt. Levitate gives Rotom more opportunities to switch into battle to wallbreak due to the Ground immunity it provides Rotom with. Usage Tips Prediction is key to getting the most out of Rotom; although using Volt Switch repeatedly may seem ideal to get chip damage on checks like Incineroar, giving up momentum to Electric-immune Pokemon such as Rhydon, Steelix, and Togedemaru is not desirable. Instead, look to hit such Pokemon with Shadow Ball or cripple them with Trick to enable Rotom to spam Volt Switch late-game. Although Rotom's bulk isn't the greatest, it still has useful defensive utility between its typing and ability; take advantage of its immunities and resistances by switching into Pokemon like Steelix and Braviary to gain wallbreaking opportunities. If running Defog, it's important to be wary of using it haphazardly. Doing so risks having a Pursuit trapper like Sneasel or Aerodactyl switching in and trapping Rotom. Team Options Spikes from Garbodor is great alongside Rotom, chipping checks such as Incineroar and Druddigon in tandem with Volt Switch very effectively. Garbodor also provides a secondary check to Fighting-type Pokemon. In return, Rotom can spinblock for Garbodor. Pokemon such as Steelix and Rhydon support Rotom by checking Pursuit trappers such as Sneasel, Aerodactyl, and Absol. Steelix and Rhydon also provide Stealth Rock and enjoy Rotom's ability to deal with Water-types like Slowking and Blastoise and entry hazard removers like Dhelmise and Decidueye. Late-game sweepers like Calm Mind Sigilyph and Comfey appreciate Rotom weakening Pokemon such as Druddigon, Incineroar, and Steelix for them. Passimian pairs great with Rotom; it forms a VoltTurn core alongside Rotom and appreciates Rotom checking Flying-types such as Vivillon for it. In return, Passimian can help remove Rhydon, Steelix, and Seismitoad, opening up the door for Rotom to freely use Volt Switch.

戰術分析
Moves Given Rotom's decent invested bulk alongside the defensive utility its typing and ability provide, Rotom is a capable Defogger due to it finding multiple opportunities per game to switch in and remove entry hazards. Volt Switch lets Rotom pivot out versus checks like Incineroar, Magmortar, and Scrafty and bring in the appropriate answer. Will-O-Wisp punishes potential Volt Switch answers like Steelix, Druddigon, and Togedemaru while also preventing Pursuit trappers like Sneasel and Aerodactyl from aggressively switching in as easily. Hex synergizes well with Will-O-Wisp and is Rotom's only way to target certain Electric-resistant and -immune Pokemon like Vikavolt and Seismitoad for passable damage. Set Details Maximum Speed investment with a Timid nature makes Rotom as fast as possible, while 248 HP EVs improve its ability to switch into Pokemon like Heliolisk, Vikavolt, and Accelgor and reduce Stealth Rock damage. Colbur Berry makes Rotom more effective at switching into Passimian and protects it against Pursuit trapping from Sneasel. Alternatively, Iapapa Berry gives Rotom extra longevity, allowing it to function as a more consistent answer to Pokemon such as Heliolisk, Braviary, and Togedemaru. Levitate is Rotom's only ability and helps it better check Pokemon such as Passimian, Rhydon, and Steelix. Usage Tips Due to Rotom's very usable bulk, it's capable of switching into threats like Heliolisk, Braviary, and Togedemaru multiple times throughout a match. Use these opportunities to remove entry hazards, spread status, or generate momentum with Volt Switch. Volt Switch is generally Rotom's safest move to use; Electric-immune Pokemon are unlikely to switch into Rotom due to the threat of Will-O-Wisp, meaning Rotom should always be able to safely bring in a check versus the opponent's switch-in. If running Colbur Berry, Rotom can be played much more aggressively by staying in versus Pursuit trappers like Sneasel and Absol and burning them with Will-O-Wisp. Unless it's running Iapapa Berry, Rotom's longevity is rather limited. Therefore, be wary of switching Rotom in too frequently, as it will quickly become unable to check Pokemon like Heliolisk and Braviary. Team Options Rotom can easily slot itself onto balanced or offensive builds due to the great amount of utility it provides between its defensive traits and utility moves. Although Rotom is a functional check to Flying- and Fighting-type Pokemon, its longevity is poor, and it's very reliant on Colbur Berry to check Fighting-types such as Passimian. Therefore, having secondary checks to such Pokemon like Steelix, Rhydon, Slowking, and Comfey is necessary. Rhydon also provides an Incineroar check, while Comfey can help against other Dark-types like Sneasel and Pangoro. Other pivots such as Passimian and Incineroar pair excellently with Rotom. Passimian appreciates Rotom checking Flying-types and can be brought in against Incineroar, while Incineroar enjoys Rotom threatening bulky Water-types and providing entry hazard control. In return, Passimian threatens faster Pokemon like Aerodactyl and Sceptile that pressure Rotom, while Incineroar can check wallbreakers like Sigilyph and Calm Mind Delphox for Rotom. Pokemon weak to entry hazards like Sneasel, Aerodactyl, and Magmortar appreciate Rotom's Defog support as well as its ability to bring them into battle with Volt Switch.

Moves Defog lets Rotom support its teammates by removing entry hazards and works particularly well on this set given its ability to heavily threaten common hazard setters with great damage. While unreliable on its own, Thunder alongside Electrium Z makes Rotom capable of breaking past Swords Dance Incineroar after Stealth Rock while also threatening Sneasel and Pangoro. If you forgo Electrium Z for Ghostium Z, Thunderbolt should be used instead of Thunder for its reliability against targets such as Slowking and Vaporeon. Shadow Ball is Rotom's most consistent source of damage against Electric-resistant and -immune Pokemon like Dhelmise, Druddigon, and Vikavolt. Volt Switch helps Rotom get certain checks into range of its Z-Move and provides momentum for its team. Set Details Maximum Special Attack and Speed investment with a Timid nature makes Rotom as fast and strong as possible. While Electrium Z improves Rotom's matchup against most Dark-types such as Pangoro, Swords Dance Incineroar, and Sneasel, Ghostium Z helps it get past opposing entry hazard setters like Rhydon, Steelix, Druddigon, and Seismitoad. Levitate is Rotom's only ability and provides it with an immunity to Ground, providing it with more opportunities to switch in. Usage Tips Timing the usage of Rotom's Z-Move is crucial; without it, Rotom has more difficulty dealing with its checks. If the opponent has an Electric-immune Pokemon, holding back on using Gigavolt Havoc may be preferred; similarly, waiting to use Never-Ending Nightmare until the opponent's switch-in to Ghost-type moves is weakened or removed is ideal. While Rotom's natural bulk isn't fantastic, its defensive typing and ability provide it with solid opportunities to switch in against Pokemon like Passimian, Heliolisk, and Weezing. Use this time to remove entry hazards with Defog or simply fire off attacks to wallbreak. The latter is an especially good choice when looking to get checks like Incineroar and Steelix into range of Rotom's Z-Move. If the opponent has a Pursuit user such as Sneasel or Aerodactyl, they may look to aggressively switch it into Rotom as it uses Defog; take this opportunity to try to remove it with Gigavolt Havoc or pivot out with Volt Switch to the appropriate check. Team Options Rotom is generally best fit for balanced and offensive teams due to its proficiency at keeping up offensive momentum while providing such teams with vital defensive utility. Depending on which Z-Crystal Rotom opts for, different teammates are ideal. If Electrium Z is chosen, Pokemon such as Delphox and Sneasel that appreciate Incineroar being removed are excellent partners. In contrast, Pokemon such as Magmortar and Braviary enjoy Ghostium Z Rotom weakening Pokemon such as Druddigon and Steelix. All of these Pokemon also appreciate Defog support. Entry hazard setters such as Rhydon, Garbodor, and Steelix are beneficial, helping put Pokemon such as Incineroar and Druddigon in range of Rotom's Z-Move. In return, Rotom can spinblock and heavily pressures Pokemon with other forms of hazard control like Xatu and Decidueye. Other Pokemon with pivoting moves like Incineroar and Passimian can form a VoltTurn core with Rotom. Incineroar appreciates Rotom dealing with Blastoise, while Passimian enjoys being brought in against Pokemon such as Incineroar and Guzzlord. In return, Incineroar can check certain Pursuit trappers like Sneasel and Absol and pressures Ferroseed, while Passimian can remove Electric-immune Pokemon such as Rhydon and Steelix.

戰術分析
Moves STAB Volt Switch lets Rotom act as a bulky pivot for more balanced or defensive teams. Thunderbolt can be used for a more powerful Electric STAB move that doesn't force Rotom to switch out. Hex deals significantly more damage to statused foes, and the low base power unboosted isn't as important on a defensive set. Shadow Ball can be used as a reliable Ghost STAB move that hits Pokemon immune to Electric. Will-O-Wisp cripples the physical attackers Rotom checks, in addition to many of its switch-ins, and in general greatly enhances Rotom's physical bulk. Pain Split gives Rotom a somewhat unreliable form of recovery that takes advantage of its low HP stat and the high HP of the walls that check Rotom, such as Audino, Lanturn, and Hariyama. Set Details Maximum Speed investment and a Timid nature allows Rotom to be as fast as possible, outspeeding key threats such as positive natured Kangaskhan and Lilligant. Maximum HP investment enhances Rotom's bulk to respectable levels. Sitrus Berry gives Rotom immediate recovery when it reaches low HP, giving it more opportunities to pivot into attacks, while Colbur Berry can be used to weaken the damage from a Dark-type Attack. Leftovers is another option to give Rotom passive recovery. Usage Tips Switch into moves Rotom resists or is immune to, or even into weak defensive Pokemon that it can threaten such as Mantine. Use Will-O-Wisp frequently in order to spread burns, as even with investment Rotom is not bulky enough to stomach multiple physical hits and burns are generally useful for wearing down the opposing team. Will-O-Wisp is also useful for crippling the Pokemon immune to Electric that often switch into Rotom. Spam Volt Switch if there's nothing Rotom needs to burn to gain momentum. Shadow Ball should only be used when Rotom is focused on dealing damage or when there's a Pokemon immune to Electric that Rotom needs to get chip damage on. Use Pain Split if Rotom is weakened to regain some health. Pain Split is also Rotom's best option to deal damage against the likes of Hariyama, Lanturn, and Mega Audino, outside of burning them, due to their high HP stat. Team Options U-turn and Volt Switch users form a solid VoltTurn core with Rotom, with Mesprit, Xatu, Lanturn, and Scyther all being solid options. Scyther stands out for its solid bulk with Eviolite and defensive investment in addition to its solid synergy with Rotom, notably checking the Dark-types that give Rotom trouble, especially Malamar, and being a good secondary Pokemon that resists Fighting. Lanturn, meanwhile, provides a Fire check, a necessity in most teams. Pokemon that take advantage of the bulky Pokemon immune to Electric that give Rotom trouble are mandatory partners. Grass- and Water-types are generally good checks to them, and they appreciate Rotom's Flying and Electric resistances, respectively. A teammate that checks Dark-types is an important partner for Rotom, as they otherwise easily take advantage of it; Mega Audino, Mawile, Hariyama, and Garbodor pair nicely. Rotom works well in defensive entry hazard stacking teams that also need a Flying check thanks to its ability to spinblock. Sweepers such as Klinklang and Samurott appreciate Rotom's ability to weaken Ground-types and Lanturn with Will-O-Wisp and Pain Split in order to sweep late-game, and in return they have solid defensive synergy with Rotom.

Moves Volt Switch works well with Rotom's ability to force switches, letting it gain momentum while doing solid damage. Thunderbolt is a more powerful Electric-type STAB move that doesn't force Rotom to switch out, being particularly useful when cleaning weakened teams. Shadow Ball provides great coverage, hitting Psychic-types and Pokemon immune to Electric. Trick cripples defensive switch-ins and makes them useless for the rest of the match while also giving Rotom a better matchup against slower, bulkier teams after it Tricks away its Choice Scarf. Will-O-Wisp can be used over Thunderbolt to enable Rotom to cripple switch-ins such as Rhydon, Lanturn, and Kangaskhan and allows it to avoid Shiftry's, Cacturne's, and Mawile's Sucker Punch and burn them, but this causes Rotom to be less reliable in late-game scenarios. Set Details Maximum Special Attack investment maximizes Rotom's damage output, and maximum Speed investment and a Timid nature let Rotom outspeed the likes of +1 Vivillon, +1 Lilligant, +2 Gorebyss, and Choice Scarf Mesprit. Choice Scarf makes Rotom a very fast and reliable revenge killer. Maximum HP can be run over Special Attack to make Rotom significantly bulkier and check the likes of Archeops and Swellow better at the expense of a lot of power. Usage Tips Pivot into moves that Rotom resists or is immune to, such as Archeops's Acrobatics or Earthquake, Scyther's Aerial Ace, Swellow's Facade or Brave Bird, and Tauros's Rock Climb, but be wary of coverage moves such as Archeops's Stone Edge and Swellow's Boomburst, as they can OHKO Rotom. Spam Volt Switch throughout most of the game unless there's a Pokemon immune to Electric, such as Stunfisk, Rhydon, or Lanturn, on the opposing team, in which case it's best to use Shadow Ball, use Will-O-Wisp, or simply hard switch to a teammate. This situation gets even trickier if there's a Normal- or Dark-type on the opposing team, where the best solution is to go out to a teammate or burn them as they switch in. Unless the foe has Mega Audino, Trick away Rotom's Choice Scarf early-game against bulky, slow teams, against which it doesn't need the Speed Choice Scarf provides. Similarly, Rotom can Trick away its Choice Scarf to cripple Pokemon such as Stunfisk and Lanturn to make it easier for a teammate such as Klinklang to sweep late-game. Use Will-O-Wisp against Sucker Punch users such as Cacturne, Mawile, and Kangaskhan to avoid their priority move and severely cripple them. Sacrificing Rotom to burn Pokemon such as Kangaskhan or Liepard is an option when you don't need Rotom anymore in order to give teammates such as Swords Dance Mawile, Lilligant, and Klinklang the opportunity to set up and sweep. Team Options Rotom doesn't need a lot of support thanks to its ability to be easily slapped onto many teams. A switch-in to Pokemon immune to Electric is a necessary partner for Rotom; Water- and Grass-types both work well. Checks to the Dark-types that take advantage of Rotom, such as Pawniard, Cacturne, and Liepard, are also important due to their popularity and how threatening they are, with Mawile, Mega Audino, Hariyama, and Scyther pairing with Rotom nicely. Wallbreakers such as Aurorus, Magmortar, and Exeggutor appreciate Rotom's ability to bring them in with Volt Switch, and they also take advantage of Rotom's Ground and Grass switch-ins. U-turn and Volt Switch users, such as Mesprit, Liepard, Lanturn, Scyther, and Xatu, form a good VoltTurn core with Rotom that gradually wears down the opposing team. Entry hazard-stacking teams love Rotom's ability to spinblock; Garbodor, Crustle, Cacturne, and Kricketune are good examples of effective entry hazard setters that each work in very different team archetypes. Sweepers such as Klinklang, Scyther, and Samurott love Rotom's ability to take on Water-types while weakening or crippling Grass- and Ground-types and Lanturn with Shadow Ball, Will-O-Wisp, and Trick.

Moves Volt Switch is a decently powerful STAB move that provides momentum for Rotom's team with opportunities to switch in freely for heavy-hitting teammates such as Tauros and Scyther. Shadow Ball has solid neutral coverage alongside Volt Switch and Thunderbolt, hitting common Grass, Electric-, and Ground-types such as Vileplume, Lanturn, and Steelix for respectable damage. Thunderbolt is Rotom's strongest, most reliable STAB option and provides it with an Electric-type STAB move that doesn't force it to switch out. Alternatively, Thunder allows Rotom to break through traditional checks such as Skuntank and non-specially defensive Mega Audino, having a chance to OHKO the former and 2HKO the latter after Stealth Rock damage. Finally, Trick cripples defensive Pokemon such as Ferroseed, Gastrodon, and Clefairy. Set Details Maximum Special Attack and Speed investment with a Timid nature allows Rotom to hit as hard and fast as possible. Levitate provides Rotom with an extra immunity to Ground and allows it to easily check threats such as Archeops and Tauros, which cannot hit it super effectively with Earthquake. Choice Specs differentiates this set from the others, as it plays the role of a wallbreaker, unlike the Choice Scarf set, which cleans, or the Hex set, which is more of a disrupter. Usage Tips Look to make use of Volt Switch as much as possible early- or mid-game to generate momentum for teammates and weaken checks to Rotom such as Mega Audino, Hariyama, and Skuntank. However, beware of using Volt Switch or any Electric-type STAB move when the opponent has an Electric immunity such as Volt Absorb Lanturn, or more commonly, a Ground-type such as Rhydon or Steelix still on their team. In these situations, it is often beneficial to use Shadow Ball to weaken these checks or double switch into a Pokemon better equipped to handle them in order to not lose momentum. Pursuit trappers such as Liepard and Skuntank are very threatening to Rotom and can switch into Choice Specs Rotom's Shadow Ball with impunity. To avoid easily getting trapped by these Pokemon, do not mindlessly use Shadow Ball throughout the game, and be careful of knocking Pokemon out with Thunderbolt, as it provides a Pursuit trapper with a free chance to switch in. Thunder can be utilized early-game to lure in and heavily damage Skuntank and Mega Audino. Team Options Rotom greatly appreciates Stealth Rock from the likes of Rhydon and Steelix and Spikes from Pokemon such as Garbodor and Ferroseed, as they chip away at typical counters to Rotom such as Mega Audino and Lanturn. In particular, Pokemon with access to Toxic Spikes such as Weezing and Garbodor make for excellent partners, as Toxic Spikes quickly wears down bulky Ground-types like Rhydon, Piloswine, and Gastrodon, which prevent Rotom from spamming its Electric-type STAB moves. In return, Rotom can block Rapid Spin with its Ghost typing to keep said entry hazards up. Other Pokemon with access to U-turn and Volt Switch such as Scyther, Mesprit, and Lanturn are solid choices alongside Rotom, as they can also generate momentum for teammates and wear each other's checks and counters down. Fighting-types such as Hitmonchan, Gurdurr, and Hariyama work well with Rotom, as they don't mind switching into Dark-types such as Liepard and Skuntank, and they can also break down Ground-, Rock-, and Steel-types. Conversely, Rotom can check the Flying-types that give these Pokemon trouble such as Mantine, Scyther, and Vivillon. Late-game cleaners such as Choice Scarf Jynx, Swellow, and Floatzel also appreciate Rotom's ability to break down bulky Pokemon such as Mega Audino, Lanturn, and Clefairy so they can run through a team late-game with their power and Speed. Lastly, Shiftry, Mesprit, and Musharna are solid partners for Rotom, as they all appreciate Skuntank being lured in and heavily weakened by Thunder.

Moves Hex packs a powerful punch when the foe has a status ailment, and it allows Rotom to lure and beat Pokemon immune to Electric such as Lanturn, Steelix, Piloswine, and Rhydon. Will-O-Wisp lets Rotom spread status to power up Hex and is generally useful to cripple physical attackers and defensive Pokemon. Volt Switch hits decently hard and lets Rotom pivot out into a teammate. Discharge is a slightly more powerful Electric-type STAB that has good chance to paralyze the foe and does not force Rotom to switch. Shadow Ball is a more reliable Ghost-type STAB move and does solid damage thanks to the Spell Tag boost. Set Details Maximum Special Attack investment lets Rotom hit as hard as possible, and maximum Speed investment with a Timid nature lets Rotom outspeed Lilligant, Vivillon, Jolly Pinsir, Timid Mesprit, and others. Spell Tag boosts the power of Rotom's Ghost-type moves, allows it to switch between moves, and lets it bluff a Choice Scarf or Choice Specs set due to the lack of Life Orb recoil. Usage Tips Take advantage of Rotom's great resistances and immunities to switch into the likes of Archeops, Swellow, Tauros, and Zangoose, among others; however, the former two can 2HKO Rotom even with their Flying STAB moves, so it should bluff Choice Scarf to force them out. Bluffing Choice Scarf in general lets Rotom force faster Pokemon out and lure in Pokemon immune to Electric. Rotom's primary role is to lure its usual switch-ins, such as Stunfisk, Rhydon, and Lanturn, burn them as they come in, and smack them with a full-powered Hex, weakening them for a teammate and allowing Rotom to freely spam Volt Switch once they are gone. If there are Toxic Spikes on the foe's side of the field, however, feel free to spam Rotom's powerful Hex. Spam Volt Switch to chip away at the opposing team if there's no Pokemon Rotom needs to weaken or, better yet, if it has already done so. Be careful around Lanturn, however, as Volt Absorb can let it recover the HP that Rotom took away. Team Options Pokemon that can sweep once Rotom has lured and weakened the Pokemon that'd typically wall it are ideal partners for Rotom. Klinklang is arguably Rotom's best partner, as most stops to its sweep are lured and beaten by it. Pokemon such as Scyther also pair decently. Toxic Spikes support is very helpful, as it allows Rotom to spam Hex without having to burn the opposing Pokemon first. In exchange, Rotom can spinblock foes that try to remove those Toxic Spikes. Other forms of entry hazard stacking also work nicely with Rotom. A switch-in to Pokemon immune to Electric is appreciated in the cases where Rotom is needed for another threat, as Rotom generally cannot 2HKO them as they come without burning them first. U-turn and Volt Switch users such as Scyther, Mesprit, Liepard, Lanturn, and Zebstrika form a solid VoltTurn core that constantly chips away at the opposing team.

Moves Substitute is used to stall out the foe so they take more burn damage, allowing Rotom to pick them off with Hex. It also allows Rotom to dodge status moves from Pokemon like Steelix and Mantine. Will-O-Wisp is Rotom's main way of statusing the foe, in order to wear them down as well as boost Hex's power; it also halves the Attack stat of opposing Pokemon, which lets Rotom set up Substitutes on common physical attackers like Steelix. Hex becomes a 130-Base Power move once the foe has been statused that puts huge dents in most non-Normal-, Dark-, or Ghost-types. Discharge is an alternative way for Rotom to spread status in order to power up Hex that is also able to target common Defoggers like Mantine and Pelipper. Discharge's high paralysis rate also makes it a good way to status Magmortar, which is why it is the Electric STAB move of choice on this set. Set Details Maximum HP is used in order to tank as many hits as possible and create Substitutes with the most HP, which is required in order to keep them up against walls such as Weezing and Steelix. Maximum Speed with a Timid nature is used in order to hit the best possible Speed tier, outspeeding threats such as Kangaskhan and Lilligant. An alternative is to use 104 Special Attack EVs to get the guaranteed KO on Mantine after it has taken Stealth Rock damage, but Rotom generally prefers the ability to take more hits, and wearing down common walls like Mantine usually is not a problem for Rotom and its teammates. Leftovers is used to gain back HP slowly after creating Substitutes, allowing Rotom to create additional Substitutes throughout the match. Usage Tips Due to Rotom's great typing, it can switch in on a plethora of threats and proceed to set up Substitutes or start statusing the opposing team in order to wear it down; good examples include common Pokemon such as Archeops, Scyther, Steelix, and Garbodor. Even if there is the possibility Rotom will faint to a Rapid Spin user like Hitmonchan going for an alternative move, it is generally safe to switch in just to prevent the opponent from removing the entry hazards from their side of the field. Early-game, Rotom should be more focused on trying to status the opposing team than on attacking with Hex, as it becomes much easier to spam late-game once most of the opposing team has been statused. Rotom should also be cautious of switching into Mantine and Steelix, as while it does beat them, it does not like being hit by Toxic and crippled for the rest of the match. Rotom should also be cautious with inflicting the wrong status on certain Pokemon; for example, it does not want to paralyze certain Pokemon such as Musharna, as paralysis prevents it from being worn down by other status ailments such as burn and poison. Team Options Toxic Spikes support is very beneficial for Rotom, as it helps Rotom spam Hex earlier in the match without having to worry about statusing the other team with Will-O-Wisp or Discharge first; good options for Toxic Spikes support include common hazard setters Weezing, Garbodor, and Roselia, as they can get up multiple layers of Toxic Spikes for Rotom. Rotom can also spinblock to prevent entry hazard removers like Hitmonchan and Claydol from spinning away the Toxic Spikes and has Discharge to scare away the common Defoggers Mantine and Pelipper. Due to this Rotom set's lack of Special Attack investment, additional hazard support in the form of Stealth Rock or Spikes is beneficial; for example, with Stealth Rock up Discharge becomes a KO on Mantine. Good partners would include common Stealth Rock setters such as Steelix and Rhydon, which can reliably get up the hazard for Rotom to get the knockouts it needs to. Pokemon that appreciate bulky Steel-types removed, such as Klinklang and Scyther, make good partners; Klinklang also appreciates Rotom's ability to knock out bulky Water-types like Pelipper for it. Due to Rotom's tendency to switch in on Pokemon that are able to status it, Heal Bell support from Pokemon like Audino and Musharna is appreciated.

Moves With Will-O-Wisp, Rotom is capable of crippling various physical attackers, Dark-types, and subduing certain tanks such as Steelix. Hex goes well with Rotom's ability to spread burns, making it a dangerous attack versus even defensive targets. Volt Switch + Pain Split can be used to make Rotom less prone to being Pursuit trapped while maintaining its longevity, whereas Substitute + Discharge allows Rotom to dodge status and safely spread paralysis. Set Details 252 Speed EVs and a Timid nature is needed so that Rotom can take advantage of its Speed tier to outspeed base 90s such as Meloetta, thus giving it more opportunities to spread status or quickly Volt Switch away before getting hit by a Shadow Ball. Max HP investment is used as it allows Rotom to withstand various attacks more easily and sustain its Substitute versus weaker attackers; however, Spell Tag with max Special Attack investment is an option, as it allows Rotom to be significantly more dangerous. Usage Tips Thanks to its various resistances and immunities, Rotom can find several opportunities to switch in during a match. Substitute provides Rotom with a decent matchup against many common leads, though you must be wary of fast Pursuit trappers, such as Sneasel and Drapion; it also gives Rotom the opportunity to lure out and cripple bulky threats that might switch into it. Rotom should avoid switching continually, as it is worn down by Stealth Rock and risks being Pursuit trapped. Team Options Pokemon that handle Mega Camerupt such as Slowking and Alomomola are greatly appreciated, as it completely walls Rotom. Fighting-types such as Hitmonlee, Hariyama, and Emboar help deal with Dark-types that might threaten Rotom. Rotom excels at beating bulky Water- and Steel-types, so Pokemon that appreciate them gone such as Swords Dance Samurott and Meloetta, respectively, are valuable partners. As Rotom handles Steel-types and can cripple some Dark-types and Meloetta, Sigilyph is a great partner that also works well with the teamstyles Rotom fits on. Toxic Spikes allows Rotom to stall out its foes with Substitute more easily while also boosting Hex's power.

Although Rotom is usually seen shocking its opponents with its great Speed and Special Attack and mediocre defensive stats, it can also pull off a decent defensive set thanks to its great resistances and access to Pain Split. These attributes allow Rotom to function as a check to many top-tier attackers, including the extraordinarily powerful Escavalier. Rotom's resistance to both Iron Head and Megahorn means it can wall and stall as much as it wants. Rotom's Ghost typing allows it to function as a spinblocker, and a pretty good one at that. Rotom is the only Ghost-type that can reliably beat Kabutops, which most Ghost-types in the tier struggle to defeat. Furthermore, many players will be taken by surprise by Will-O-Wisp, as more offensive sets have no room for it. However, one should keep in mind that Rotom's defenses are not impregnable, so it's best used on a balanced team. Thunderbolt and Shadow Ball provide excellent coverage--hitting most common Pokemon neutrally. Rotom's dual STAB enables it to hit every common spinner and deal with threats such as Gallade, Tauros, and Absol, even without investment. Pain Split keeps Rotom in top shape throughout the match, and is an excellent tool to wear down opposing Pokemon when Rotom has low health. Pain Split also helps Rotom survive when taking Megahorns from Escavalier. Will-O-Wisp is Rotom's greatest weapon against physical attackers and makes this set much more threatening. It also provides constant residual damage to help Rotom KO foes with greater ease. The Speed EVs given allow Rotom to outrun Adamant Kabutops and Braviary; this helps Rotom switch in and KO them the following turn with Thunderbolt. Choice Band Braviary's Brave Bird will 2HKO Rotom after Stealth Rock damage, but with the given EVs Rotom can outspeed and KO it. Jolly variants fail to 2HKO Rotom, making more Speed investment unnecessary. The remaining EVs maximize Rotom's physical bulk, capitalizing on Defense rather than HP as it allows Rotom to recover a higher percentage from Pain Split. Discharge can be used over Thunderbolt for its higher paralysis rate, but the additional power that Thunderbolt provides is invaluable. Furthermore, the chance of paralysis may conflict with your plans to burn a strong physical attacker. The RestTalk combination can be used over Pain Split and Will-O-Wisp to heal off any status that Rotom may be afflicted with, most notably Toxic; however, Will-O-Wisp is absolutely vital to this set, providing residual damage and making physical attackers much less threatening. Even Pain Split plays a vital role in wearing down opponents--not to mention that Sleep Talk is unreliable, with a 33% chance of picking Rest and doing nothing. In addition to all this, BW's sleep mechanics make RestTalk an even less viable option. However, if you really don't want Rotom statused and cannot provide cleric support, RestTalk is your best possible option. Unlike other Rotom variants, this set requires different types of support. It appreciates entry hazards to wear down opponents, and thanks to its Ghost typing, can keep them up easily. Crustle, Smeargle, Accelgor, Ferroseed, Scolipede, and Roselia are all excellent choices for the job. Cleric support is also recommended as Toxic can spell doom for Rotom, making it unable to stay in for very long and tank hits. Clefable is the best choice for this, also providing Wish support for Rotom and its teammates. Although Rotom has its own recovery, Pain Split isn't reliable enough at times because it doesn't do a lot to targets at a low range of health or with a generally low HP stat. Steelix is another wonderful partner as it can switch into Ghost- and Dark-type moves aimed at Rotom and set up Stealth Rock. Mandibuzz also covers Rotom's weaknesses, and in return Rotom can take Megahorn from Escavalier as well as burn Aggron in a pinch.

With a Choice Scarf equipped, Rotom becomes a potent revenge killer and momentum booster. Thanks to Volt Switch, Rotom is very difficult to KO, especially since it avoids taking a boosted Pursuit if the opponent is faster than Rotom. Furthermore, Rotom is immune to Spikes and Toxic Spikes, giving it an easier time switching in to wreak havoc. Shadow Ball provides Rotom with a secondary STAB move, and its type coverage is excellent in combination with Volt Switch. Thunderbolt is used as a powerful, consistent STAB move that doesn't force Rotom to switch out, whereas Hidden Power Ice is used to hit Ground- and Grass-types super effectively. The idea is to abuse Volt Switch to scout the opponent's Rotom switch-in, and proceed to weaken the opponent with a combination of passive damage and powerful moves. Sucker Punch is a problem for this set, and Trick is the only option to avoid it if you encounter it. A Timid nature should be used on this set so that Rotom can outspeed and revenge kill Timid Omastar after a Shell Smash and Jolly Choice Scarf Medicham. Choice Specs can be used with a Modest nature, but this makes Rotom significantly slower, and leaves it prone to being revenge killed. A Timid nature can be used with Choice Specs for the best of power and Speed, whereas the combination of a Timid nature and a Choice Scarf enables Rotom to outrun even boosted sweepers, such as Shell Smash Crustle and Gorebyss. Hidden Power Fighting can be used in the third slot, as it provides perfect neutral type coverage alongside Shadow Ball. Will-O-Wisp can be used in the last slot as well to fake out the opponent and bluff a bulky set or cripple a dangerous physical sweeper. This set forces a lot of switches, so entry hazard support is something to consider. Ferroseed can set up Spikes and Stealth Rock, Clefable and Uxie can set up Stealth Rock, and Scolipede can set up Spikes and Toxic Spikes. Rotom's Ghost typing help keep hazards on the field, and its useful resistances grant it an easier switch in. Throh and Hariyama are also good partners as they can take out specially defensive Pokemon, such as Clefable. Furthermore, Guts Hariyama can switch into status moves and receive an Attack boost. Clefable and Ferroseed are common switch-ins, making Fighting-type moves favorable. Again, Hariyama can abuse STAB Close Combat.

戰術分析
The idea behind this set is fairly simple: use a combination of Substitute and Pain Split to weaken the opponent into KO range, then finish them off with one of Rotom's STAB moves. Rotom acts as an effective wallbreaker, as it can weaken the opponent with Pain Split, and should the opponent decide to use a recovery move, Rotom can restore even more of its HP. Instead of outright attacking, Rotom relies on setting up Substitutes and wearing down the opponent slowly and painfully. Good prediction is key, especially if Rotom is slower than the opponent. Shadow Ball and Thunderbolt provide excellent type coverage against everything in the tier bar Magneton, Ferroseed, Sawsbuck, and Steelix, and they both receive a boost from STAB. The EVs are pretty self-explanatory; a Timid nature and maximum Speed investment allow Rotom to outspeed positive-natured base 90 Pokemon, such as Moltres. In truth, only 248 Speed EVs are needed to outrun said Moltres, but generally, adding an extra stat point to anything else won't make a huge difference. Will-O-Wisp can be used over one of Rotom's coverage moves, but doing so will leave it walled by either Ground- or Normal-types. A more defensive spread of 252 HP / 8 Def / 248 Spe should be used with Will-O-Wisp, along with Leftovers for extra survivability. Thanks to this set's ability to force switches, support from entry hazards is greatly appreciated. Ferroseed can set up Spikes and Stealth Rock, while crippling faster threats with Thunder Wave. Scolipede and Roselia can set up Spikes and Toxic Spikes for your team, and they can break through Grass-types that slow Rotom down. Uxie and Druddigon can set up Stealth Rock, and they both have access to some useful support moves. Rotom's Ghost typing means that entry hazards will remain on the field for as long as possible, and Thunderbolt will deal a number on Kabutops, a common Rapid Spinner. Partners that can switch into Rotom's Dark- and Ghost-type weaknesses are essential to keeping it alive. Ferroseed can switch into both of Rotom's weaknesses and proceed to set up entry hazards, and Drapion can switch in and fire off powerful attacks. Thanks to their high Special Attack and Speed stats, special attackers, such as Moltres, can pull off a final sweep of a weakened team.

While Rotom has a shallow attacking movepool, it has just enough options to make effective use of a Choice item. With immunities to Spikes and Toxic Spikes, as well as a neutrality to Stealth Rock, Rotom can switch in and out many times while taking minimal damage. However, this is not the only factor that makes Rotom's Choice sets very effective: when equipped with a Choice item, Rotom becomes a very potent threat. With a Modest nature and a Choice Scarf, Rotom reaches a Speed stat of 421, while Timid Choice Specs Rotom attains a sky-high Special Attack stat of 433. Aside from being a solid STAB attack, Volt Switch is an excellent momentum-grabbing move, which racks up damage and scouts the opponent's switch-in. Thunderbolt is another option for greater power, and can grant Choice Scarf Rotom an easier endgame sweep. However, be careful about recklessly using either of these moves, as Ground-types and Pokemon such as Volt Absorb Jolteon, who are immune to Electric-type moves, will leave Rotom no choice but to switch out with its metaphorical tail between its legs. Shadow Ball, Rotom's secondary STAB attack, has good synergy with its Electric-type STAB, as few commonly seen Pokemon resist both moves. Rounding out Rotom's arsenal, Hidden Power Fighting grants unresisted coverage alongside Rotom's dual STAB, hitting Steelix, Magneton, Krookodile, and the rare Ferroseed super effectively. Despite being super effective, however, even Choice Specs Hidden Power Fighting will scarcely dent the likes of Snorlax, hence the last move, Trick. With a little prediction, this nifty move can easily render most walls and bulky Ground-types, such as Gligar and Quagsire, virtually useless. Hidden Power Grass can replace Hidden Power Fighting to surprise the aforementioned bulky Ground-types, Rhyperior in particular, but Trick often deals with them just as effectively. If choosing Hidden Power Ice, Rotom should also utilize Choice Scarf and a Timid nature in order to revenge kill Adamant Choice Scarf Flygon and all Choice Scarf Nidoking. Maximum Speed investment also allows Choice Scarf Rotom to outspeed all +2 Gorebyss and neutral-natured +1 Sharpedo, making it an option worth considering if these threats are troublesome. On the other hand, a Modest nature gives all Rotom a much-needed boost to its unremarkable base 95 Special Attack. Discharge and Thunder are alternative primary STAB moves, but the former's power drop is undesirable on an offensive Rotom, while the latter's accuracy is poor outside of rain, and there are better Rain Dance abusers out there. Finally, Will-O-Wisp, though odd on a Choice set, may be useful to cripple physically based Ground-types who switch in looking to catch Rotom locked into Volt Switch, if Trick isn't your cup of tea. While Rotom's three attacks have excellent coverage together, neither of its STABs are particularly good attacking types to be locked into: the numerous Ground-types in UU, such as Rhyperior, Flygon, and even Nidoking, laugh at Thunderbolt and Volt Switch, and thanks to their high offensive stats, can pose a significant threat to your team. Normal-types, particularly Snorlax and Clefable, take no damage from Shadow Ball and can retaliate with crippling status or a super effective Crunch; Dark-types, such as Weavile, Bisharp, and Krookodile can also switch into Shadow Ball and decimate Rotom with a powerful STAB Pursuit. There are many ways to handle the individual Ground-type threats; bulky Water- and Grass-types, such as Slowbro, Suicune, Roserade, and Shaymin, generally fare well. Fighting-types, such as Hitmontop, Machamp, and Heracross, are good options to help your team counter the latter threats, but Rotom must tread carefully so as to avoid eating a boosted Pursuit.

Access to both Light Screen and Reflect, along with good Speed and typing, allows Rotom to pull off a dual screens set very effectively. This set's execution is simple but effective: put up Reflect or Light Screen depending on the opponent, and when both screens are up, Volt Switch out to bring a sweeper in safely. Will-O-Wisp is a fantastic move to use alongside Volt Switch as it allows Rotom to burn Ground-types, most of whom are physically inclined; it also enables even this less defensive Rotom to completely wall most physical threats behind Reflect. Lastly, Shadow Ball is a good option for players more concerned about Taunt. Bear in mind, however, that Azelf has far better offenses, Uxie has superior utility in Heal Bell, Yawn, and Memento, Xatu has the Magic Bounce ability, while Cresselia has unparalleled bulk. Therefore, when looking to Rotom as a dual screener, be sure to play to its advantages, namely Volt Switch, Will-O-Wisp, resistances to Steel- and Bug-type moves, as well as spinblocking capability. Dual Screens Rotom doesn't have many other options. The EV spread and nature shouldn't be altered: maximum Speed investment, as well as a boosting nature, allow Rotom to outspeed as many opposing Pokemon as possible, while the rest of the EVs grant it the best overall bulk possible by maximizing its poor HP. Light Clay extends the duration of both Reflect and Light Screen, providing maximum support for Rotom's teammates. Though generally not recommended, Leftovers can be used over Light Clay for some form of recovery. Pain Split can also be run in the last slot to grant Rotom an alternative form of healing without the need to forgo Light Clay. The most important teammates for any dual screener are frail, powerful Pokemon that can abuse the protection the screens grant them. Shell Smash Baton Pass users, namely Gorebyss and Smeargle, come to mind here. Cobalion can come in on Dark- and Ghost-type attacks aimed at Rotom, possibly gaining an Attack boost in the process, and set up Swords Dance or Calm Mind. This makes Cobalion an excellent partner for this Rotom variant, as dual screens go a long way in mitigating Cobalion's lack of priority, making it much harder to revenge kill.

With 50 / 77 / 77 defenses, Rotom is hardly exceptional defensively. However, its access to a move that halves a foe's Attack, as well as one that recovers health, grants it the potential to be a good physical wall and a significant threat to the opposition. Will-O-Wisp and Pain Split are the two aforementioned moves; the former inflicts the burn status, drastically decreasing the damage output of enemy physical attackers, while Pain Split gives Rotom some form of recovery, especially when used on high HP foes such as Snorlax. Thunderbolt is Rotom's main STAB attack due to its high Base Power, but Discharge is a viable option for a greater chance of paralysis. Bear in mind, though, that it might activate at the wrong time, paralyzing a threat you would rather have burnt. Shadow Ball offers Rotom a way to hit the physically attacking Ground-types it can wall, which are immune to Thunderbolt and Discharge, and gets a STAB boost as well. Toxic is another option to consider in the fourth moveslot as it enables Rotom to cripple special attackers, who typically don't mind being burnt. The EV spread and nature maximize Rotom's physical bulk, enabling it to better switch into physical attackers in order to burn them. An alternative spread of 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD with a Calm nature can be used, as Will-O-Wisp shores Rotom up on the physical side; however, the former option is preferred as Snorlax is far superior at walling special threats. Thunder Wave can be run over Shadow Ball or Toxic to provide yet another form of status support. Will-O-Wisp should never be replaced, though. Physically defensive Rotom pairs nicely with a Normal-type special wall, such as Clefable or Snorlax, to supplement it on its weaker defensive side. Rotom covers their Fighting-type weakness with an immunity, and the former two provide Rotom with Wish support, which will be especially useful mid- and late-game, when the effectiveness of Pain Split will likely be reduced. Physical Fire-type attackers and Guts users, such as Victini, Darmanitan, Arcanine, and Heracross, can be problematic too, because Rotom cannot neuter them with Will-O-Wisp. As such, bulky Water-types make good teammates; many variants of Suicune also appreciate Toxic wearing opponents down.

Rotom has decent Special Attack and Speed stats, and with all of those immunities and resistances Rotom can come in on, it's a natural candidate for wielding a Choice item. With Choice Scarf, Modest Rotom reaches a Speed stat of 421, while with Choice Specs, Timid Rotom reaches a great Special Attack stat of 433. Rotom can be quite devastating by using just STAB Thunderbolt and Shadow Ball attacks, since they achieve almost perfect coverage, only resisted by Steelix and Magneton. The last attacking option goes to Hidden Power Fighting or Hidden Power Grass. Hidden Power Fighting hits Steelix and Magneton that attempt to switch in on Rotom for super effective damage, which means that Rotom really gains perfect coverage. On the other hand, Hidden Power Grass hits Lanturn and Ground-types hard, is powerful enough to OHKO Donphan, and hits Steelix for neutral damage. Both of the Hidden Power attacks provide near-perfect coverage, so it's really up to personal preference. Those aren't the only Hidden Power types Rotom can use though, as Hidden Power Ice and Hidden Power Ground can be used as well. If you are planning on using Rotom with a Choice Scarf and a Timid nature, Hidden Power Ice can be used as Rotom becomes a great Rock Polish Torterra and Dragon Dance Altaria check. Hidden Power Ground allows you to hit all of Steelix, Magneton, Camerupt, and Lanturn for super effective damage, but you miss the KO against Absol and other Dark-types that are weak to Fighting attacks. Will-O-Wisp may seem like a bad option on a Choice set due to the fact that Rotom has to switch out after it uses it, but it definitely has its uses. Normally, people will never suspect a Choiced attacker to be carrying a status move, meaning they'll try to switch in Pokemon like Registeel or Absol to take Rotom's Shadow Ball, only to be burned. For the final move option, Trick is the best option due to Rotom's barren movepool. Tricking a Choice item onto tanks or walls is a great way to cripple them, being especially effective since Pokemon like Chansey and Registeel love to switch in on Rotom. As always, being locked into one attack can cause problems. For instance, if Rotom is locked into using Shadow Ball, a Dark-type Pursuit user like Absol or Drapion can easily destroy it, or if Rotom is using Thunderbolt, a Ground-type like Torterra can get a free turn to set up. Even though Rotom can use Trick to cripple tanks or walls like Chansey, they can still switch in on Rotom's attacks with ease and set up themselves. To solve these problems, simply scout your opponent's team before sending out Rotom to see if their team consists of any Pursuit users or special walls. There are multiple ways one can scout the opponent's team; the two most common strategies are utilizing U-turn and Roar or Whirlwind. Primeape is an excellent U-turner as it can force many switches with its powerful Close Combat, while Donphan makes an excellent Pokemon to use Roar because of its great physical bulk. These two simple strategies can reveal many Pokemon from your opponent's team, giving you an idea if it's safe to switch in Rotom. As for dealing with the special walls, using a strong Fighting-type Pokemon can easily fend off the most prominent special wall: Chansey. Primeape deserves a mention again because of its ability to threaten Chansey, forcing it to switch out (in which case you can use U-turn if you predict it to switch out), or be OHKOed by Close Combat. Primeape also deals with other specially defensive Pokemon like Registeel or Clefable, both of which can be quite troublesome for Rotom to take down.

While Rotom isn't seen as a bulky Pokemon, it's capable of countering some of UU's biggest physical threats, most notably Swellow, Scyther, and any Fighting-type. The reason for this is because of Rotom's fantastic dual typing that boasts multiple resistances or immunities to Fighting, Flying, Bug, and Ground. Rotom is bulky enough to survive many hits coming from physical sweepers. For example, Hitmonlee and Hitmontop both fail to 2HKO Rotom with Stone Edge, meaning Rotom can burn them with Will-O-Wisp, making them close to useless. Swellow doesn't come close to a 3HKO with Brave Bird, and Scyther fares even worse. Not only can that, but this set also handles Dark-types like Absol that may attempt to Pursuit you, because Pursuit will fail to OHKO assuming you stay in, allowing Rotom to cripple them with Will-O-Wisp. Once Rotom has taken multiple hits, it can heal off the damage with Rest, while Sleep Talk prevents Pokemon from setting up on you while you are sleeping. Due to the fact that Rotom is being used defensively, it makes one of the best Rapid Spin blockers in UU, being able to switch in on many Rapid Spinners fearlessly and cripple them with Will-O-Wisp, as most of them are physically based. With this being said, if your team's goal consists of setting up as much entry hazards as possible, Rotom is a prime candidate to prevent the entry hazards from being removed. Due to Rotom's heavy EV investment in Defense, it is vulnerable to high-powered special attacks. For example, a Modest Life Orb Milotic can OHKO Rotom with Hydro Pump if Stealth Rock is in play. To fix this problem, pairing Rotom with Pokemon who boast a high Special Defense stat can be helpful. Chansey and Registeel are excellent choices for switching into special attacks. Chansey is the number one special wall in UU thanks to her incredible special bulk and has multiple support moves to aid the team as a whole, including Wish, Stealth Rock, Toxic, and Thunder Wave. Registeel is also capable of inflicting status and setting up Stealth Rock, but it also boasts an immunity to Poison-type attacks and useful resistances to Grass-, Ghost-, and Dark-type moves.

戰術分析
This set aims to keep Rotom alive as long as possible while still packing some offensive power. With Substitute, Rotom can block damaging status moves such as Thunder Wave and Toxic from Registeel or Chansey. It also protects Rotom from Sucker Punch from Pokemon such as Toxicroak, allowing it to safely revenge kill them. In addition, Substitute is useful for easing prediction when Rotom expects a switch. However, Life Orb recoil and Substitute damage will pile up quickly. This is where Pain Split comes in. Pain Split allows Rotom to get back to near-perfect health due to its low base 50 HP. Substitute and Pain Split work as a useful stalling strategy for Rotom, especially as one of its common switch-ins, Chansey, can't touch it behind a Substitute, while Rotom can Pain Split it to get back to full health. The combination of Thunderbolt and Shadow Ball provides Rotom with almost perfect coverage, as the only common Pokemon in UU who resists it is Steelix. A Timid nature and 252 Speed EVs give Rotom 309 Speed, outspeeding dangerous Pokemon such as Timid Moltres and Jolly / Timid Toxicroak, while at worst Speed tying with other Rotom who lack Choice Scarf. Maximum Special Attack is so Rotom hits as hard as possible; its base 95 Special Attack stat is not particularly powerful, so it needs all the investment it can get. The leftover EVs are placed in Special Defense rather than HP to maintain a low HP, allowing for maximum recovery from Pain Split. Life Orb is the necessary item, as Rotom is lacking in power due to its underwhelming Special Attack stat and can still recover health through Pain Split. This set has problems with several Pokemon it can't hit hard enough. Steelix is immune to Thunderbolt and resists Shadow Ball, so it can be troublesome, as it can simply set up Stealth Rock and Roar Rotom out. Bulky Water-types such as Blastoise and Milotic are useful to deal with Steelix, as they will take little from its attacks and can threaten Steelix with a STAB Surf. Additionally, Blastoise can also spin away the entry hazards that it sets up. Registeel is another problem for this set if it has Ice Punch or Shadow Claw as it will break Rotom's Substitutes with ease while taking little damage from Thunderbolt. Torterra and Donphan can both beat Registeel, but the former must watch out for Ice Punch. Like Steelix, Dugtrio can also finish off a weakened Registeel as Earthquake does 59.3% - 69.8% to most variants. Spiritomb can be troublesome for this set as it can Shadow Sneak Rotom and prevent Rotom from switching out with the threat of Pursuit. Houndoom, Moltres, and Blaziken are very useful partners to take out Spiritomb as well as both Steelix and Registeel. Drapion can't easily switch into Rotom unless it is very specially defensive, but once in, it will outspeed and threaten Rotom with Crunch or even Pursuit a fleeing Rotom, while specially defensive versions take 41.9% - 49.1% from Thunderbolt, so they can usually do well against Rotom if they don't switch in on Thunderbolt. Dugtrio can be useful to trap and OHKO offensive Drapion, as well as defensive ones when they are slightly weakened. Defensive Venusaur and Torterra cause this set problems as they aren't 2HKOed by Shadow Ball and can hit back hard with STAB Grass-type attacks. Both also have Synthesis so they can stay around for a while and deal with Rotom. Leafeon can handle Torterra and also physical versions of Venusaur (assuming you already have someone put to sleep by Sleep Powder) so it makes an effective partner to Rotom. It can also provide Heal Bell support if the opponent manages to get Rotom statused. Fire-types such as Blaziken, Houndoom, and Moltres also scare off these Grass-types. Considering the problems caused by Steel- and Dark-types, Fighting-types such as Blaziken, Hariyama, Hitmonlee, Hitmontop, and Toxicroak make good partners.

SubCharge Rotom is by far the most effective offensive set Rotom can use. Its common switch-ins, such as Chansey and Registeel, turn into setup bait instead of brick walls, thanks to two simple moves: Substitute and Charge Beam. The use of Substitute and Charge Beam makes Rotom a very threatening offensive force once it has collected a few Special Attack boosts. Most importantly, Substitute allows Rotom to block status effects from the likes of Chansey and Registeel that attempt to induce it with, as well as not breaking in one hit from either of their attacks. Not only that, but Substitute makes a great way to scout the opponent's switch-in. For instance, if Rotom is up against Claydol, the opponent will most likely switch out in the fear of Shadow Ball. By knowing this, you can set up Substitute instead as the opponent switches out, and use the most appropriate move against the newly switched in Pokemon. This works especially well against Pursuit and Sucker Punch users like Absol, since if Rotom is behind a Substitute, it can try to eliminate them with Thunderbolt or Hidden Power Fighting. After Rotom is safely behind Substitute, it can then boost its Special Attack with Charge Beam, eventually gaining enough power to KO Chansey and Registeel, two huge threats, with Thunderbolt. If you are interested in type coverage rather than power, Hidden Power Fighting can be used. It helps pound down Steelix and Magneton that give Rotom serious amounts of trouble, as they are both resistant (Steelix being immune to Electric-type attacks) to both of Rotom's STAB moves. Shadow Ball takes up the last moveslot by providing Rotom with a powerful secondary STAB attack to use and provides great type coverage in conjunction with Rotom's Electric-type moves, especially helpful against Pokemon who are immune or resistant to Electric-type attacks, such as Lanturn and Torterra. The EV spread is extremely straightforward; max Special Attack and Speed give Rotom as much offensive power as possible. An alternative spread of 152 Def / 106 SpA / 252 Spe gives Rotom's Substitute enough bulk to withstand Registeel's Ice Punch that use 100 Attack EVs, which is very beneficial when it comes to setting up against it. This spread is not necessarily important, but if you dislike the fact that Registeel can break Rotom's Substitute, it's a great spread to keep in mind. Even though this may be one of Rotom's best offensive sets that can beat its common switch-ins, it still has two problems: Ground-types and Pokemon who are faster than it. Ground-type Pokemon can switch in on Charge Beam fearlessly, meaning Rotom achieves no Special Attack boosts, which leaves it relatively weak. Steelix and Quagsire are both prime examples of this situation. Steelix boasts an immunity to Electric attacks, resistance to Shadow Ball, and is never 2HKOed by an unboosted Hidden Power Fighting. It can then hurt Rotom badly with Stone Edge. Quagsire works the same way, except it takes no super effective hits, allowing it to finish off Rotom with repeated Waterfall attacks or setting up multiple Curses. Rotom may become a big threat with a couple of Charge Beam boosts, but it can still be easily revenge-killed by faster threats, like Houndoom and Mismagius, because of its mediocre defenses. To deal with these two threats, Hariyama and Drapion are excellent choices. Houndoom hates being face to face with Hariyama because of its resistance to Dark- and Fire-type attacks (due to Hariyama's Thick Fat ability), allowing it to scare off Houndoom with a powerful STAB Fighting-type move. As for Mismagius, Drapion makes a great Pokemon to use against it with its resistance to Shadow Ball and neutrality to Hidden Power Fighting and Thunderbolt, allowing it to eliminate Mismagius from the remainder of the battle with Pursuit.

戰術分析
While Rotom may not have the greatest of defensive stats, its handful of immunities and reasonably high Speed allow it to become an effective dual screener, while still being able to cripple dangerous physical threats with Will-O-Wisp. The procedure for using this set is quite simple: use either Reflect or Light Screen depending on the situation you're in, followed by Will-O-Wisp to cripple the opposing Pokemon, assuming you opt for it. When facing a strong physical attacker like Feraligatr, it would be a better idea to burn it with Will-O-Wisp instead of trying to set up Reflect first, since a burned Feraligatr's Attack will be lowered permanently, unlike Reflect's five (or eight depending on your item) turn duration. If you dislike using Will-O-Wisp, Pain Split is an excellent secondary option. It gives Rotom much more longevity, allowing it to set up screens more than once, not to mention the fact that Rotom boasts a reasonably low HP stat, which helps it heal back more of its health with Pain Split, especially against bulky threats like Registeel and Chansey. As for the offensive options, Thunderbolt is preferred over Shadow Ball due to its higher Base Power and neutral coverage; however, Shadow Ball is an option if you feel the need to hit Ground-types or Electric-types harder. Maximum Speed allows Rotom to have a chance at setting up the desired screen before being hit by an attack, and 252 HP EVs provide maximum overall bulk. Leftovers is normally recommended over Light Clay as it will let Rotom take more hits by replenishing its health, but Light Clay can be used if you feel the need for extra team support. It is recommended to have teammates who can take advantage of the dual screens, especially setup sweepers. Great examples of these type of Pokemon include Feraligatr, Mismagius, and Houndoom. With dual screen support, Feraligatr is capable of achieving more Dragon Dance boosts, Mismagius will boast a tougher Substitute to break, allowing it to boost up with Calm Mind, and Houndoom can set up multiple Nasty Plot boosts. Other Pokemon who can use the dual screens effectively are powerful but frail sweepers, like Blaziken and Rampardos. Blaziken is arguably the best wallbreaker in UU, but its frailness tends to end its life quite quickly, meaning that having dual screen support will give Blaziken more survivability. Rampardos has pathetic defensive stats, but massive base 165 Attack. With dual screen support, Rampardos has a higher chance of getting the Rock Polish needed attempt a sweep.

戰術分析
Rotom is capable of abusing almost every status effect, and this set is dedicated to inflicting as much status as it can against the opponent's team. This set is also a fantastic supporter, since Pokemon who are crippled are much easier to take down than those that aren't. The three status effects Rotom uses to try to cripple the opponent's Pokemon are burn, paralysis, and poison, an excellent status combination. Discharge is a great move to use as it has a 30% chance to paralyze the enemy while doing a decent amount of damage at the same time. Will-O-Wisp is definitely useful against physical sweepers, allowing Rotom to deal with them much easier. It also helps Rotom deal with Steel-types, as most don't mind paralysis since they are already slow (or in Steelix's case, immune to Discharge), and are immune to Toxic. Walls like Porygon2 and Lanturn can be quite troublesome to take down with your sweepers, so Toxic does a very good job at wearing them down. Shadow Ball is Rotom's main choice for attacking as it has more power than Discharge and better overall coverage. Confuse Ray can be used instead of Shadow Ball if you feel the need for the added status, as Confuse Ray can form the dreaded parafusion combo, or it can simply wear down the Pokemon's health even faster if they are burnt or poisoned. The addition of Pain Split to Rotom's movepool is extremely helpful. Since Rotom has such a low HP stat, Pain Split can help it heal back a great amount of its health, especially against Chansey because of her huge HP stat. Lastly, Substitute is an option for scouting your opponent's moves and helps Rotom stall for Toxic or Will-O-Wisp damage. When using this Rotom set, it is important to have Pokemon on your team that can take advantage of the opponent's Pokemon being crippled by status. For example, if you're using a Pokemon who is relatively slow like Azumarill, paralyzing the opponent's team can help it move first, allowing it to become more devastating. Physical sweepers like Feraligatr hate it when Slowbro tries to end their sweep, so by poisoning Slowbro, it will gradually lose HP and lose its ability to wall. In addition, defensively frail Pokemon can be supported by Rotom's burns. All in all, this Rotom set opens up many opportunities for your sweepers, tanks, and walls, allowing them to become more effective than usual.
