Team Options Tornadus-T provides great utility with U-turn, Knock Off, and Defog, combined with solid offensive presence with Flyinium Z, making it a solid choice for many Flying teams. Zapdos can deal with bulky Water-types such as Toxapex and Mantine, alleviating pressure from Tornadus-T, as well as act as a switch-in for Electric-types like Zap Plate Tapu Koko. Zapdos also is able to run other sets such as Substitute + Toxic due to Tornadus-T taking the role of a Defogger. Gliscor serves as an effective stallbreaker using Taunt that can take on many defensive threats Tornadus-T can't easily muscle past, such as Chansey and Ferrothorn, and it can switch into and offensively threaten Electric types like Magnezone and Alolan Raichu. Gliscor can also form a U-turn core with Tornadus-T to constantly pressure the opponent as they switch, as well as Defog to make both itself and Tornadus-T very hard to wear down when paired with their strong defensive abilities in Poison Heal and Regenerator. Mantine serves as a great blanket check to special attackers and switch-in to Ice- and Water-type attacks from threats such as Greninja and Keldeo and as a strong defensive Defogger, forming a strong entry hazard removal core with Tornadus-T. Mantine also can use Haze against priority users like Mega Scizor and Z-Belly Drum Azumarill that blow past Tornadus-T after boosts. Skarmory and Celesteela can take on Rock-types like Mega Diancie that easily switch into Tornadus-T. Skarmory can also chip threats like Alolan Muk with Stealth Rock that try to switch into Tornadus-T, whereas Celesteela can situationally provide it with extra recovery with Leech Seed. Mega Aerodactyl and Choice Scarf Landorus-T are good offensive partners for Tornadus-T, since they appreciate Tornadus-T's ability to deal with Mega Venusaur and weaken teams so they can clean late-game. Tornadus-T synergizes even better with them if it runs Heat Wave, letting it break many defensive Steel-types like Skarmory that the former two struggle with. Landorus-T and Mega Aerodactyl can both deal with Heatran for Tornadus-T, which otherwise easily switches into most of its sets. Landorus-T can form a U-turn core with Tornadus-T, while Mega Aerodactyl can trap threats like Victini with Pursuit. Thundurus-T serves as an offensive pivot for Electric-types with Choice Scarf and can threaten teams more effectively thanks to Tornadus-T's ability to deal with Mega Venusaur. Dragonite appreciates Tornadus-T's ability to preserve its Multiscale with Defog. In exchange, it can use Dragon Dance or Choice Band to deal with defensive threats like Mantine and Tyranitar, which can otherwise wall Tornadus-T, as well as pick off fast threats like Greninja with Extreme Speed.

Moves Hurricane OHKOes Tomohawk, Pyroak, Mega Venusaur, Keldeo, and +1 Aurumoth and 2HKOes Unaware Clefable, Mega Scizor, and tank Garchomp. U-turn allows Tornadus-T to pivot out and take advantage of Regenerator, which mitigates Life Orb recoil. Knock Off removes foes items like Choice Scarf and Assault Vest, whose holders might otherwise force Tornadus-T out. Taunt can be used to stallbreak and prevent the foe from healing. Superpower finishes off Chansey after Knock Off and Stealth Rock damage and hits Colossoil and Heatran for large amounts of damage. Focus Blast is a good alternative, hitting most threats harder than Superpower such as Rotom-W, Krilowatt, and Cyclohm for great amounts of damage, but running two 70% accurate moves can be risky. Heat Wave is drawback free and hits Cawmodore, Ferrothorn, Skarmory, and Kitsunoh harder than Superpower or Focus Blast, but it misses out on coverage against Heatran, Rotom-W, Cyclohm, Krilowatt, and Rock-types. Hidden Power Ground is an option if Tornadus-T needs to lure and KO certain threats, as it 2HKOes Crucibelle and Heatran and OHKOes Plasmanta, and if Stealth Rock is on the field, it 2HKOes Cyclohm and OHKOes Mollux. However, it is a subpar option, as Tornadus-T's other moves are much more useful. Set Details Regenerator mitigates the recoil Tornadus-T takes from Life Orb. 76 Attack EVs net a KO on Chansey with the combination of Stealth Rock damage, Knock Off, and Superpower. 252 Speed EVs and a Hasty nature maximize Tornadus-T's Speed, which allows it to Speed tie with Syclant and outpace anything slower. Hasty is used over Timid as not to compromise Superpower's damage output. If not using Superpower, an EV spread of 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe with a Timid nature should be used to maximize Tornadus-T's damage output with Hurricane and Focus Blast or Heat Wave. Knock Off and U-turn are used for utility, so Attack EVs aren't needed when not running Superpower. Usage Tips Early-game, use U-turn to keep up momentum and Knock Off to cripple foes. Make sure not to use U-turn when below 10% HP, as otherwise Life Orb recoil will knock out Tornadus-T. Later on, use Hurricane and coverage moves to knock out worn-down foes. Even though Tornadus-T has decent bulk and Regenerator, it wants to use Regenerator to heal off Life Orb recoil. Bringing Tornadus-T in with slow U-turn and Volt Switch users can keep it from being worn down easily. Hard switch if Tornadus-T will be hit with a priority attack before U-turn hits and is still useful. Removing a foe's Choice Scarf can allow Tornadus-T to outspeed the Pokemon late-game. Wear down its checks with U-turn and Knock Off until Tornadus-T can break past them with Hurricane or a coverage move; just be wary if it loses its Life Orb. Team Options To take full advantage of Tornadus-T's ability Regenerator, entry hazard removal is mandatory. Colossoil, Tomohawk, Latios, Mega Scizor, and Mollux can fulfill this role. Tornadus-T can form a VoltTurn core with Volt Switch and U-turn users such as Rotom-W, Mega Scizor, Assault Vest Colossoil, and Syclant. Tornadus-T appreciates teammates that resist its weaknesses: Assault Vest Colossoil can tank Electric- and Rock-type attacks, Rotom-W and Mega Scizor resist Ice-type attacks, and Syclant is immune to Rock-type attacks on the switch-in thanks to Mountaineer. Teammates such as Keldeo, Mega Altaria, Azumarill, and Aurumoth appreciate Tornadus-T's Knock Off to remove an unsuspecting Chansey's Eviolite. Physically defensive Pokemon such as Rotom-W, Mega Scizor, Cyclohm, and Clefable make for great teammates because Tornadus-T cannot survive strong physical attacks. Wallbreakers such as Choice Specs Volkraken, Mega Gardevoir, and Kyurem-B appreciate the momentum gained by Tornadus-T, as it can give them a free switch in. This set works particularly well on rain teams, so Politoed and Mega Swampert make for great members of a strong core with Tornadus-T taking out the Grass-type Pokemon, such as Mega Venusaur, Necturna, and Serperior, that hurt these two. In return, Mega Swampert can tank the Electric- and Rock-type moves that hurt Tornadus-T and hit hard with strong physical moves.

Moves Hurricane is Tornadus-T's most powerful STAB move, but its 70% accuracy can be a huge letdown, unless it is used in rain. U-turn allows Tornadus-T to pivot out, take advantage of Regenerator, gain momentum for its team, and wear down checks. Knock Off removes the foe's item, and removing Leftovers and Eviolite can cripple walls like Slowbro and Chansey, while removing Choice Scarf can slow down threats like Volkraken and Mollux. Heat Wave hits Steel-types that are immune to or resist Fighting-type coverage, such as Kitsunoh, Cawmodore, Scizor, and Mega Metagross. Superpower hits Heatran and Colossoil on their weaker Defense stat; however, the Attack drop prevents Tornadus-T from using the move repeatedly, while the Defense drop makes it more susceptible to physical attacks, especially because Superpower forces Tornadus-T to run a Hasty nature. However, its power is not cut in half in rain, unlike Heat Wave. Focus Blast hits Rotom-W, Cyclohm, Krilowatt, and Naviathan harder than Superpower, and it similarly does not lose power in rain. It has 70% accuracy, though, which makes it unreliable especially because Tornadus-T will have to rely on two 70% accurate moves as its primary attacking options. Hidden Power Ground 2HKOes Pokemon with a double Ground-type weakness that would normally give Tornadus-T trouble, including Mollux, Heatran, Crucibelle, and Plasmanta; it also does a decent amount of damage to Cyclohm. However, this is a weak option that should only be considered if the team needs to lure the aforementioned checks. Set Details Regenerator helps Tornadus-T recover while gaining momentum and is why Tornadus-T is so effective. It also lets Tornadus-T recover with an Assault Vest without a draining move. 252 Speed EVs and a Timid nature maximize Tornadus-T's Speed, which allows it to Speed tie with Syclant. Though it lowers the power of U-turn and Knock Off, those moves are used mostly for switching and removing items anyways. However, a Hasty nature should be used if Superpower is chosen. 160 Special Attack EVs guarantee the OHKO on Keldeo with Hurricane and the 2HKO on Mega Crucibelle with Hidden Power Ground. 96 HP EVs increase Tornadus-T's bulk, allowing it to survive powerful hits from full health, most notably Bullet Punch from +6 Cawmodore and the combination of Hurricane and Nature Power from Life Orb Tomohawk. However, Stealth Rock must be cleared in both situations, and Tornadus-T must switch into Cawmodore before or while it uses Belly Drum. Furthermore, to act as an emergency check to Cawmodore, it must run Heat Wave and a Timid nature. Usage Tips Generally, in the early-game, Tornadus-T should wear down the opponent's team with Knock Off and U-turn by switching into special attackers like Keldeo, Tomohawk, Heatran, and Aurumoth. It can clean with Hurricane and its coverage moves late-game once its checks have fainted. Generally, Tornadus-T should U-turn when it needs to recover, but it should hard switch if it will be hit with a priority attack. At full health with a Timid Nature, it can switch into Cawmodore successfully as long as Stealth Rock is cleared from the field. Whether it has used Belly Drum or not, Cawmodore is OHKOed by Heat Wave and +6 Bullet Punch can't OHKO Tornadus-T. But if rain is in effect, Heat Wave becomes a 2HKO. Team Options Spinners, such as Tomohawk and Colossoil, and Defoggers, such as Mega Scizor, Latios, and Skarmory, can clear Stealth Rock off the field, which allows Tornadus-T to take full advantage of Regenerator's recovery. Volt Switch and U-turn users such as Rotom-W, Mega Scizor, Assault Vest Colossoil, and Syclant make for great partners to keep up momentum. Rotom-W and Mega Scizor can tank physical hits with ease and resist Ice-type attacks, Assault Vest Colossoil can absorb Electric and Rock-type attacks, and Syclant can get free switches by absorbing a Rock-type attack with Mountaineer. Specifically, Tornadus-T is able to switch into Choice Specs Latios's Draco Meteor after Stealth Rock damage. Tornadus-T also takes any hit from a +2 Expert Belt Deoxys-S at full HP. Being a reliable pivot and a check to important threats, Tornadus-T is easy to fit on any Flying team. Defoggers like Skarmory and Zapdos make it easier to pivot with Tornadus-T. The trio also form a great defensive core. Zapdos and Tornadus-T, in particular, form a strong VoltTurn core that supports the rest of the team. Wallbreakers like Mega Charizard Y, Landorus, and Dragonite appreciate Tornadus-T's ability to bring them in safely with U-turn and cripple defensive switch-ins with Knock Off. In return, they can break through common defensive answers to Tornadus-T like Zapdos and Empoleon. Choice Scarf Landorus-T notably forms a great Knock Off + U-turn spamming core with Tornadus-T, which is powerful against Psychic teams. Mega Aerodactyl helps against other Flying teams by dealing with Pokemon like Mega Charizard Y, Thundurus, and Zapdos. Its Pursuit trapping Victini also makes it a formidable partner to Tornadus-T against Psychic. Furthermore, Mega Aerodactyl and both Landorus formes can set Stealth Rock, making Tornadus-T's pivoting with U-turn more effective. Mega Gyarados appreciates Tornadus-T's ability to bring it in safely to start its sweep. Tornadus-T's Knock Off also wastes Colbur Berry, making sure Mega Gyarados won't be surprised by any lures. Gliscor is a great stallbreaking partner that can deal with defensive answers to Tornadus-T, like Cradily and Mandibuzz, as well as Mega Garchomp. Tornadus-T appreciates Thundurus's ability to cripple faster revenge killers with Prankster Thunder Wave. The two also form a menacing VoltTurn core.
