Fire Blast allows Wigglytuff to hit most Steel-types such as Mawile and Bronzor. Moreover, it can be used to hit Metang and Roselia super effectively as they attempt to switch into Wigglytuff's STAB moves. Focus Blast is an alternative that, unlike Fire Blast, can OHKO Probopass. Additionally, Focus Blast still gives Wigglytuff a way to hit Steel-types such as Klang, as well as Ice-, Normal-, and Rock-types such as Rotom-F, Bouffalant, and Relicanth. Team Options Wigglytuff normally fits best on offensively oriented teams. Pokemon that easily take care of Steel-types, such as Rapidash and Monferno, as well as Pokemon that take care of Poison-types, such as Metang and Gabite, are ideal partners. Ghost- and Psychic-types such as Gourgeist-XL, Grumpig, and Mr. Mime appreciate Wigglytuff's ability to check Ghost-types. U-turn, and Volt Switch users such as Jumpluff and Zebstrika help Wigglytuff get in safely and provide boosts in momentum for the entire team. Spikes setters such as Roselia and Quilladin are good teammates because Wigglytuff deters the use of Defog, allowing entry hazards to stay on the field for as long as possible. Protect allows Wigglytuff to scout its opponents' moves and receive its own Wishes safely. Note that this move may need to be used often because of Wigglytuff's poor bulk, so that it may receive its own Wishes and simultaneously avoid a hit that would KO it. However, be aware that Protect grants opponents free turns, which can easily be taken advantage of with free switches or setup opportunities, so caution must be exercised when using this move. Double-Edge prevents Wigglytuff from being Taunt bait and can break through Substitutes. Wigglytuff's high HP stat also means that the recoil damage does not matter too much to it. Heal Bell is a nice support move to rid Wigglytuff and its teammates of status, but there is hardly any room to fit it in. Seismic Toss can be used over Double-Edge for consistent damage against Rock- and Steel-types, but it is illegal with Frisk, and one must then use the extremely situational and often useless Cute Charm. Magic Coat is a decent option to bounce back Taunt, status moves, and entry hazards, but like Heal Bell, it is hard to fit into the moveset. Similarly, Thunder Wave and Toxic are decent moves to cripple fast threats and stall out opposing walls, respectively, which would be great if only there were a little more room on the set. Alomomola is a great teammate that can take physical hits while forming a double Wish combo with Wigglytuff. Misdreavus can take most physical attacks, provide cleric support for Wigglytuff, and appreciates Wish support from Wigglytuff. Mandibuzz can defeat Ghost-types such as Golurk and Misdreavus that threaten to defeat or set up on Wigglytuff, while phazing out greedy opponents that try and set up on Wigglytuff. Wigglytuff absolutely despises Toxic Spikes they limit its longevity; grounded Poison-types, particularly Garbodor, are good teammates in order to absorb them. Garbodor can also take most Fighting-type attacks aimed at Wigglytuff, enjoys Wish support, and can set up Toxic Spikes of its own to aid in Wigglytuff's stalling. Finally, teammates that appreciate Wish support are good options. These include Gurdurr, Skuntank, and Choice Band Braviary.

When it comes to defensive Normal-types, Wigglytuff definitely isn't a popular choice in UU, as she is horribly outclassed by Clefable, Chansey, and Lickilicky. However, with useful support moves in Wish, Heal Bell, and Thunder Wave, as well as passable defenses, Wigglytuff can still be fairly effective in that role. Wish is a fantastic move to heal weakened teammates with, and provides valuable team support. Protect can scout for troublesome moves, and alongside Wish, forms a means of reliable recovery that allows Wigglytuff to stick around for quite some time. Seismic Toss is Wigglytuff's best form of offense against most foes, and, while it doesn't do amazing damage, it is the best option Wigglytuff has in that regard (while Wigglytuff's STAB move, Hyper Voice, might seem better, it really only does more damage against frail Pokemon like Sceptile). The last slot depends on what kind of support you need for your team. Heal Bell is a useful option if your team is vulnerable to status, while Toxic and Thunder Wave cripple walls and sweepers, respectively. However, if you lack a Pokemon with Stealth Rock, Wigglytuff can use it in the last slot instead. Because Wigglytuff has such a massive HP stat, investing in her defensive stats first will increase her defensive ability much more than a normal spread. Wigglytuff's EVs, in general, are also slightly biased to her Special Defense stat, to allow her to better take on Pokemon from the special side, who she has an easier time dealing with than physical threats. 44 HP EVs hit a Leftovers number, which further helps Wigglytuff's cause, while the rest are poured into her physical Defense to cushion against lighter physical blows. Bulky Pokemon, such as Blastoise, Hitmontop, and Spiritomb, who lack reliable recovery, work well alongside this Wigglytuff set, as the Wish support she provides can allow these Pokemon to continue doing their duties for a prolonged time. Additionally, Wish can allow certain sweepers such as Mismagius and Hitmonlee to come back in and wreak even more havoc. Depending on the support move in the last slot, the Pokemon that Wigglytuff can assist will vary. For example, if Heal Bell is used, Pokemon who detest certain status effects, such as Milotic, Moltres, and Hitmonlee are great partners. If Thunder Wave is used, Pokemon who can take advantage of the opponent's slower team such as Rhyperior, Aggron, and Hariyama work well. Finally, if Toxic is used, Pokemon who appreciate crippled walls work well alongside Wigglytuff.

While Wigglytuff would seem to be another generic dual screen user, her large support movepool enables her to stand out amongst the sea of possible options. Boasting access to extremely helpful moves in Wish, Heal Bell, and Stealth Rock, and plenty of bulk to use both screens and her support options, Wigglytuff can prove to be an effective user indeed. Reflect and Light Screen help bolster Wigglytuff's mediocre defenses. Stealth Rock support is very important, as some sweepers, such as Belly Drum Linoone, just barely miss out on some necessary KOs against some Pokemon at full health; thus, Stealth Rock is essential to allow these Pokemon to nab these KOs. The last slot depends on what you feel your sweeper will appreciate the most. Heal Bell's ability to cure status can help your sweeper later in the match if your sweeper had been burned or paralyzed earlier. However, Wish can essentially give sweepers a second chance to sweep under screens, and can also help get a frailer Pokemon into the match. Wish also gives Wigglytuff some more longevity to use Light Screen and Reflect with. If you feel that your desired sweeper doesn't need either support option, Seismic Toss is an option to do decent damage and prevent Wigglytuff from being rendered completely useless by Taunt. The EV spread is designed to help Wigglytuff take both physical and special hits well, and because of Wigglytuff's significantly higher HP stat, it's better to invest in her defenses first. A Calm nature is used to increase Wigglytuff's Special Defense, making it easier for her to use both screens against specially offensive Pokemon who she generally has an easier time dealing with. Pokemon who can quickly set up and sweep are great partners to this set, as, due to the screens that Wigglytuff will set up, it won't be hard to get a boost or two at all. Rock Polish Aggron, Rhyperior, and Nasty Plot Mismagius are all extremely powerful after they have set up, and are more than capable of ripping teams apart. Belly Drum users are useful to consider as well; the dual screens that Wigglytuff provides should hopefully be enough to allow them to Belly Drum up safely. However, be aware that using a Pokemon with Belly Drum is a huge risk; if the opponent has a Pokemon that can do more than 50% under screens (depending on the Pokemon, the difficulty of obtaining this can vary), then the Belly Drum user will not be able to set up, and if that's your game plan, it will significantly jeopardize your chances of winning. Thus, you may want to consider carrying more than one set-up sweeper; if one of them falls somehow, then you still have a chance to sweep with the other. Additionally, you can use one of your sweepers to lure out a troublesome Pokemon that the other has difficulty with and weaken it, allowing your other sweeper to plow past it and successfully sweep.

Wigglytuff's horrid defenses, low Speed, and massive HP stat create the perfect conditions for Wigglytuff to eat attacks and make use of Counter. Thanks to that gargantuan HP, nearly every attack Wigglytuff Counters is going to KO the foe right back. Luckily for Wigglytuff, while its horrid defenses mean it's usually 2HKOed by most Choice Band-boosted STAB moves, it usually isn't OHKOed unless it's a Fighting-type move, further increasing the use of Counter considering the large number of non-Fighting-type Choice Band users in the tier, including Graveler, Relicanth, and Pidgeot. Wish and Protect allow Wigglytuff to survive throughout the match, support the team, and possibly even use Counter more than once. Protect also allows it to scout the moves of Choice Band attackers and react accordingly. Return is for a reliable STAB attack; however, Toxic can be used, as Wigglytuff is going to be utterly walled by Haunter and Steel-types anyway, and Wigglytuff can provide a defensive role by using Toxic to stall out certain weak attackers like Sableye and defensive Flareon. An Impish nature ensures Wigglytuff can survive as many physical moves as possible and be able to hit back with Counter. With max HP investment, Wigglytuff's Counter is going to one-shot pretty much anything that doesn't OHKO it. While typically it would be better to invest in both defenses and leave Wigglytuff's HP alone, which will increase Wigglytuff's overall bulk significantly, investing fully in HP actually increases Wigglytuff's physical bulk significantly enough to allow it to avoid a 2HKO from Choice Band Sudowoodo's Double-Edge where it wouldn't otherwise. If you check Wigglytuff's learnset, you'll notice how you can scroll for quite a while before reaching the bottom. There are a ton of moves that can be used in place of any of Wish, Protect, or the last slot depending on your team and what you want Wigglytuff to accomplish. Some good choices include strong damaging moves like Fire Blast, Blizzard, Focus Punch, Psychic, and Thunder to make use of Wigglytuff's decent attacking stats, a consistent move like Seismic Toss, support options like Safeguard, Reflect, Light Screen, Sunny Day, and Rain Dance, and other niche moves like Perish Song. Having a switch-in to Hitmonchan's Fighting-type attacks is needed for this set to be successful, making Swalot and Pelipper good teammates. Really strong special attackers like Rain Dance Huntail just shred right through Wigglytuff, meaning dedicated special walls like Kecleon and Dewgong should be considered, and both appreciate the healing that Wish can provide. Wigglytuff can usually scare off physical attackers with the threat of Counter, making Spikes paired with it extra effective, and Roselia makes a naturally good partner to it. All that said, Wigglytuff actually fits quite well on heavy offense teams as a lure to blow back certain physical attackers, heal a teammate with Wish, and open the opponent's team a bit to aid in a teammate's sweep.

Wigglytuff plays a complete support role for offensive teams with this set, setting up a screen, passing a Wish to a teammate, and eventually allowing itself to be KOed to keep momentum going for its team. Safeguard is a neat alternate option to Wish that's uncommon in NU and ensures that Wigglytuff's teammate can't be stricken with status. Although it's kind of hard to set up both a screen (or both screens if you're crazy) and Safeguard all in one go, it can ensure the perfect setup conditions for a frailer sweeper that doesn't want to worry about status ruining its sweep, such as Swords Dance Kingler or Dragon Dance Pupitar. Thunder Wave and Body Slam are used to spread paralysis on the opponent's team to make sweeping easier for a teammate. While Wigglytuff is slightly outclassed by Metang with this set, as Metang has Explosion to get off the field quickly, Wigglytuff's higher special bulk and access to Wish and paralysis-inducing moves make it a decent alternative. The EV spread provided best allows Wigglytuff to set up a screen and use Wish before being KOed. Maximum Speed can be run to allow Wigglytuff to outspeed as many defensive Pokemon as possible to better ensure it can get a screen up before going down. Protect can be used in the last slot with Wish to increase Wigglytuff's longevity and allow it to survive throughout the course of the match, but that creates a situation in which it's totally dead weight outside of providing screen support, which is not at all desirable in most cases. As Wigglytuff is in a complete support role with this set, it shouldn't be the focus of a team. It won't do much in the way of filling team weaknesses and at most will only softly check some weaker attackers. Instead, it should be chosen as a way to try to guarantee a sweep with another Pokemon. Setup sweepers are a must to be paired with this set, meaning Swords Dance Mawile, Dragon Dance Pupitar, Rain Dance Huntail, and Sunny Day Bellossom are all ideal teammates. Wigglytuff tends to lure in Hitmonchan, so Pokemon that can take advantage of its Fighting-type moves, such as Venomoth, Haunter, and Chimecho, are also great teammates.

Wigglytuff has an absolutely massive special movepool, and it has a just high enough Special Attack stat to make a set worth using, particularly since its Special Attack is something that separates it from the other Normal-types in the tier. With this set, Wigglytuff acts as a decent wallbreaker, opening the opponent's team up to a special sweeper like Huntail later in the match. Ice Beam, Thunderbolt, and Fire Blast get incredible coverage in just three slots, hitting every Pokemon in the tier for neutral damage at worst. Thanks to this coverage, the last slot is open to a lot of moves, with Wish allowing Wigglytuff to provide team support or help itself, though it's hard to use without Protect. Fake Tears makes Wigglytuff's attacks actually pretty terrifyingly strong, usually forcing the opponent to switch and increasing the damage output to the opponent's team. Finally, Psychic can be used to nail Hitmonchan on the switch, and it is a nice way to more easily take out Swalot and Haunter. Wigglytuff needs all the power it can get from a Modest nature, since base 75 Special Attack isn't overly impressive and the goal with this set is to punch holes in the opposing team. Maximum Speed is needed to outspeed as many defensive Pokemon as possible, as this set's main merit comes from surprising opponents who would normally be expecting a more defensive set. Blizzard and Thunder can be used for the sheer damage output they provide, but Wigglytuff gets enough mileage out of Ice Beam and Thunderbolt as it is, making the accuracy of the former two undesirable. Flamethrower can be used over Fire Blast for more accuracy, but Fire Blast is accurate enough compared to Blizzard and Thunder, and the extra power can come in handy against certain threats like Roselia, as Fire Blast guarantees a 2HKO against it where Flamethrower just misses out. As for other move alternatives, a vast array of Hidden Powers can be used in the last slot to complete coverage on certain targets, such as Hidden Power Dark for Chimecho, Hidden Power Water for Fire-types, and Hidden Power Grass for Whiscash. Focus Punch can be used to get a surprise hit on Kecleon and Lickitung looking to switch in and absorb its special hits, further helping a sweeper like Huntail later in the game. If using Focus Punch, be sure to change the nature to Rash. Toxic is also a decent option to cripple special walls with recovery in extended matches. Wigglytuff is extremely vulnerable to Hitmonchan if not running Psychic, making Chimecho, Haunter, and Pelipper great teammates to take advantage of the Fighting-type moves it'll be firing off. As Wigglytuff is actually rather frail without any defensive investment, most other faster, strong attackers are threats to this set, making sturdy, defensive Pokemon good teammates in general. Relicanth, Kecleon, and Lickitung can all provide a decent defensive backbone to support Wigglytuff. Pokemon that can make use of the surprise holes that Wigglytuff punches are great teammates as well, particularly special sweepers like Huntail and Calm Mind Sableye.

One of the most dangerous Pokemon in the tier, Curse Wigglytuff can potentially sweep teams with the right matchup. Wigglytuff's great special bulk and lack of any special weaknesses make it extremely difficult to stop after a single Curse boost. The choice of STAB attack depends on if Wigglytuff wants more power or a chance to inflict paralysis to support its sweep. Sleep Talk is the more consistent option in the third moveslot, making it less of a sitting duck when asleep and hugely helping against Hypnosis users such as Rapidash and Stantler, although Thunder Wave's synergy with Curse is useful, and paralysis can help out Wigglytuff's teammates. Most paralyzed foes are unable to check a Curse-boosted Wigglytuff, so the combination can be difficult to deal with in the absence of Pokemon immune to Thunder Wave, like Graveler and Pupitar. Water-types such as Kingler and Octillery do well as teammates due to their ability to switch in and destroy Rock-types such as Sudowoodo and Graveler. Troublesome Haze users such as Weezing and Arbok can stop Wigglytuff's sweep, so teammates such as Weezing and Gloom can be used to paralyze or remove them with Explosion. Spikes support from Pineco can go a long way in helping Wigglytuff break through Poison- and Rock-types. Poison-types such as Gloom and Weezing also make good partners because they can threaten Primeape, which can potentially remove Wigglytuff despite its boosts with a critical hit Cross Chop. Houndour could also be paired with Wigglytuff to prevent it from being walled by Gastly, although Gastly is a fairly uncommon Pokemon.

Wigglytuff is an all-around great Pokemon in NU. With solid defensive stats and a fantastic movepool including moves such as the coveted Thunder Wave, it's a Pokemon that can fit on many teams. Wigglytuff checks many of the stronger attackers in the tier such as Xatu, Dugtrio, and Octillery with its great bulk, and it can cripple Pokemon that can otherwise hurt it, such as Primeape, with paralysis on the switch, meaning it can be a difficult Pokemon to play around. While it is walled by Rock-types and can be overwhelmed by setup sweepers such as Kingler and Stantler, this pink blob should always be considered for defensive and balanced teams alike. The choice of STAB attack comes down to if Wigglytuff wants to support its team or have better offensive use. Double-Edge can 3HKO a lot of common Pokemon in the tier, such as Primeape, Ninetales, and Rapidash, and the recoil is largely offset by Wigglytuff's huge HP stat. Body Slam can spread paralysis while also dealing damage to common Wigglytuff switch-ins, most notably Primeape. Body Slam variants are also much better against fast Pokemon such as Dugtrio due to the paralysis chance and not having to deal with recoil from Double-Edge. Thunder 2HKOes Xatu and Kingler, making it a decent check to these two Pokemon. Rest and Sleep Talk make it a great sleep absorber and give it good longevity. Wigglytuff fits best on defensive and balanced teams and works very well as a lead Pokemon, since it can absorb sleep from common leads such as Stantler. Poison-types such as Weezing and Gloom can help with Wigglytuff's weakness to Fighting-types. Weezing also appreciates Wigglytuff's ability to switch in and check Xatu. Slower Pokemon that appreciate paralysis such as Flareon, Graveler, and Kingler pair well with Body Slam variants. Users of Light Screen and Reflect such as Azumarill can make its job switching in easier; this can also be further supported with a spinner to remove Spikes, such as Pineco. Checks to Magnemite such as Pupitar, Ninetales, and Hitmonlee are also useful teammates.
