Aggron is able to threaten most of the tier with its high base power STAB moves. Aqua Tail provides coverage for bulky Ground-types like Palossand and Sandaconda. Earthquake allows Aggron to OHKO opposing Aggron, in addition to evading chip from Rocky Helmet users such as Sandaconda. Superpower is an option to hit Ferroseed super effectively and deal more damage to Regirock, but it usually isn't worth it. Choice Band Aggron appreciates pivots such as Whimsicott and Uxie that lure passive Pokemon such as Aromatisse and Audino for it to take advantage of. Pokemon like Basculin and Archeops can exploit Aggron's typing to gain momentum, so it appreciates support from bulky Pokemon such as Jellicent and Sandaconda. Sandaconda and Uxie also spread paralysis for Aggron.

Aggron is great at sponging attacks from Ribombee, Mesprit, and other special attackers with limited coverage. Even without investment, its STAB moves hit hard and keep it from being passive. Protect makes playing around Choice-locked Pokemon like Gallade and Mesprit, as well as Future Sight users such as Galarian Articuno when they are paired with Pokemon that can threaten Aggron directly, much easier. Toxic is useful to wear down bulky Pokemon like Palossand and Tangela. Roar can rack up chip damage, especially when paired with Spikes from Froslass or Qwilfish. Roar also pairs amazingly with Future Sight users like Galarian Articuno to wallbreak. Wish Aromatisse and Healing Wish Mesprit are great tools to keep Aggron healthy, with the former also absorbing Knock Off for Aggron. Other Knock Off absorbers like Weezing and Qwilfish are also useful against Pokemon such as Sawk and Ferroseed. Pokemon like Charizard and Claydol, which can remove Spikes, assist Aggron in not getting worn down too quickly.

战术分析
Moves Heavy Slam gives Mega Aggron the ability to OHKO three huge threats to stall teams in Tapu Lele and Mega Diancie, as well as OHKO Clefable with little chip damage and 2HKO Tornadus-T and Mega Latios. Earthquake aims to hit Heatran, Mega Mawile, and Toxapex, relieving the pressure that all of them put on the rest of the team. It also can be used to hit Magnezone, in the case that Mega Aggron gets trapped by it. Ice Punch 2HKOes offensive Landorus-T, Garchomp, and Gliscor, which all take minimal damage from Mega Aggron's Heavy Slam, threaten Mega Aggron with super effective Ground-type STAB moves, and can pose a threat to stall teams depending on the set. Fire Punch has the same objective but instead targets Kartana, Mega Scizor, and Ferrothorn, achieving a 2HKO on all of them while having a favorable chance to OHKO the former. Protect helps Mega Aggron scout moves and waste either PP from the opposing team or turns from weather or screens. It can also serve as a way to make Mega Medicham lose half of its health by missing High Jump Kick, making it much easier to deal with. Toxic puts Tangrowth, Zapdos, and Rotom-W on a timer, since they aren't bothered by Mega Aggron's other moves. Set Details 248 HP EVs, 200 Special Defense EVs, and a Careful nature allow Mega Aggron to endure two Psychics from Choice Specs Tapu Lele under Psychic Terrain without Stealth Rock damage, while 56 Attack EVs let it OHKO maximum HP Heatran with Earthquake almost every time. The remaining EVs are put into Speed to let Mega Aggron outspeed uninvested base 50s, such as Chansey and Alolan Muk. An offensive spread of 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD and an Adamant nature can be used in order to OHKO Garchomp and Gliscor with Ice Punch after Stealth Rock damage and deal more damage with Heavy Slam against the likes of Tornadus-T and Reuniclus, but the lack of special bulk investment can be detrimental in some situations. Usage Tips Try to lead with Aggron, especially if the last move that you are using is Protect, and Mega Evolve as soon as possible in order to get rid of its poor defensive typing. If it is not possible to Mega Evolve Aggron on the first turn, try to bring Aggron in with a free switch, as even a resisted special move can make Aggron lose a lot of its health and consequently make it more dependent on Wish to heal. Avoid letting Mega Aggron's HP get too low; if that occurs, Mega Aggron can become unable to pivot into the Pokemon that it normally could. When pivoting, try to bring it in against special attackers that fear and can't do much against it such as Tornadus-T without Focus Blast and Mega Latios or against physical attackers such as Mega Pinsir and Weavile. Entry hazards, specially Spikes, can be somewhat detrimental to Mega Aggon, as it turns some 3HKOs against it turn into 2HKOs, such as Offensive Landorus-T's Earthquake and Choice Specs Tapu Lele's Psychic, leaving it unable to pivot into those threats. Therefore, try to keep them off your side of the field in order to preserve Mega Aggron's ability to consistently swallow hits. Mega Aggron's ability to pressure opposing hazard setters, such as Clefable and Mega Diancie, must be used as much as possible, so try to predict the opponent switching one of them in and double switch into them; since Mega Aggron can OHKO the former with little chip damage and outright eliminate the latter with ease, they will be discouraged from attempting to set up hazards. However, beware of Mega Diancie's Earth Power, as it can weaken Mega Aggron to a point where it can no longer switch in on threats without the risk of being KOed. Also, be wary of switching in on coverage moves from Mega Mawile and Tapu Lele; for example, pivoting in on Focus Punch Mawile will make Mega Aggron lose more than half of its health, while pivoting in on Focus Blast Tapu Lele will result in Mega Aggron getting 2HKOed, and in both cases Mega Aggron will be unable to check the threats it used to. With this, scouting for those moves is fundamental. Team Options As Mega Aggron lacks a reliable form of recovery, Wish support is almost mandatory on teams with it. Chansey, Clefable, and Jirachi are all available and able to fit well on stall teams, with Chansey being the most effective, since its Wish heals all of Mega Aggron's HP, while Clefable forms a good Steel / Fairy core with it. Also, Chansey is a formidable counter to most special wallbreakers and sweepers, including Mega Charizard Y and Volcarona, beating them with ease for Mega Aggron. Entry hazard removers, specifically Zapdos and Mew, are good partners, as both check or counter some of Mega Aggron's checks, such as Celesteela in the case of Zapdos and Mega Medicham in Mew's situation, while keeping the field clear, making Mega Aggron's job of checking Pokemon easier. Since you're forgoing using Mega Sableye in the team's Mega slot, this kind of support is more indispensable than normal. Cleric support, or even a status absorber, is crucial to Mega Aggron teams. Chansey and Clefable can provide Heal Bell support to heal status, while Gliscor can pivot into status inducers, preventing other targets. Lastly, Buzzwole is an excellent partner to Mega Aggron, since it can pivot into the physical attackers that still can pose a threat to Mega Aggron, such as Tapu Bulu, Garchomp, Gliscor, and Mega Heracross.

Moves Head Smash is Aggron's most spammable move, capable of breaking physically defensive walls like Regirock and Tangela. Heavy Slam hits Fighting-types that resist Aggron's main STAB move for strong neutral damage, such as Gurdurr, and is also 100% accurate. Aqua Tail allows Aggron to do a good chunk to Mudsdale, who otherwise takes little from Aggron's STAB moves. Earthquake is primarily used for hitting Steel-types such as Metang, opposing Aggron, and Probopass super effectively and also providing neutral damage against foes like Poliwrath. It also grants a reliable hit on foes such as Qwilfish and Lanturn. Superpower hits Regirock, Alolan Sandslash, and neutral targets such as Gastrodon harder at the cost of Attack and Defense drops. It also misses out on Qwilfish. Toxic is an option for a fourth move that allows Aggron to cripple Torterra and physically defensive Gastrodon, who otherwise wall Aggron. Set Details An Adamant nature offers a notable power boost and can still outspeed Pokemon like Roselia and Tangela, but a Jolly nature may be used to outspeed Modest Aurorus and Modest Omastar. Rock Head allows Aggron to use Head Smash without taking recoil damage. Usage Tips Aggron is primarily used as an early-game wallbreaker to soften foes up for its teammates with its strong STAB Head Smash, breaking through defensive walls like Qwilfish and Regirock. Aggron should be brought in on weaker physical attackers, such as Skuntank and Scyther, or more passive Pokemon like Clefairy and Type: Null; alternatively, a teammate's slow U-turn or Volt Switch is also a reliable way for getting Aggron in without it taking unneeded damage. Against certain teams, Aggron should avoid spamming Head Smash, as bulky Rock-resistant Pokemon, such as Mudsdale and Poliwrath, can switch in freely against it and force it out. This also means that Aggron is forced into mind games when picking between STAB or coverage moves versus foes such as Metang and opposing Aggron, as the opponent could either stay in or switch to a Pokemon that resists the appropriate coverage move. Along with being careful against teams with bulky Pokemon that resist its STAB attacks, Aggron should also be wary of locking itself into a move, especially a weaker coverage move, as it can then be used as setup bait. Aggron should also not be played as a Normal- or Flying-resistant Pokemon, as it loses to coverage moves that foes like Kangaskhan and Dodrio commonly carry. Team Options Aggron fits well on balance and bulky offense teams, which provide frequent switch safe switch-ins and appreciate the pressure Aggron puts on opposing walls. Aggron can 2HKO Tangela and Qwilfish, allowing physical sweepers such as Primeape and Lycanroc to clean late-game. Aggron is worn down quickly and has several common weaknesses; thus, it appreciates slow VoltTurn support to safely switch in. Eelektross can provide a slow Volt Switch and threatens Pokemon that commonly wall Aggron, such as physically defensive Gastrodon, with Giga Drain. Choice Specs Jellicent can help Aggron by pressuring Ground-types such as Mudsdale and Torterra with Hydro Pump and Ice Beam, while also providing an immunity to Fighting-type attacks, with Aggron in return pressuring specially defensive Pokemon such as Audino and Pursuit trappers such as Skuntank. Specially bulky Pokemon such as Roselia and Type: Null support Aggron by pivoting into strong special attackers like Ludicolo and Victreebel, with the former also providing Spikes support. Aggron complements both Roselia and Type: Null by breaking common checks such as defensive Alolan Sandslash and Qwilfish.

Moves Head Smash allows Aggron to exert offensive pressure and potentially force a switch against more passive foes like Audino and Type: Null, giving Aggron a free turn to set up Stealth Rock. Heavy Slam provides Aggron with a way of hitting Fighting-types that resist its Rock-type STAB move. Taunt prevents slower Pokemon such as Regirock and Ferroseed from setting up entry hazards, although Toxic is an alternative which gives Aggron a way to cripple physically defensive Pokemon that otherwise wall it, such as Torterra. Set Details Aggron can run a Jolly nature to outspeed Modest Aurorus and opposing Aggron; however, the decrease in damage compared to Adamant is noticeable. Rock Head means Aggron can use Head Smash without taking recoil damage. Shuca Berry helps Aggron fare better versus faster threats wielding Earthquake, such as Kangaskhan, while a Chople Berry allows Aggron to survive Fighting-type attacks from Primeape and Hitmonchan. Aggron can also make use of either Rockium Z or Steelium Z to power up Head Smash and Heavy Slam, respectively, as well as increase their reliability once. Lum Berry is another alternative to allow Aggron to set up Stealth Rock without fear of being burned by Pokemon such as Sableye. Usage Tips Aggron often functions as a lead versus more offensive teams where its role will be limited to setting up Stealth Rock, as it has trouble doing much outside of that against them. Against more balance-oriented teams, Aggron can still find ample opportunity to wallbreak once it has set up Stealth Rock, and Taunt shuts down stall teams. Aggron can also freely switch into weaker physical attackers, such as Skuntank and Type: Null, and more passive Pokemon, such as Clefairy and Altaria, to either set up Stealth Rock or force them out with a combination of Taunt plus its STAB moves. Even though Aggron can use its extremely powerful Head Smash to break down teams, it shouldn't be prioritized over setting Stealth Rock; its primary focus is to set Stealth Rock early-game. Team Options Oricorio-G and Haunter pair well with Aggron, as they offer immunities to Ground- and Fighting-type attacks and appreciate the offensive pressure Aggron offers, with both Oricorio-G and Haunter benefiting from its ability to wallbreak. Aggron also checks physical Skuntank, which immensely threatens both Oricorio-G and Haunter with a combination of Sucker Punch and Pursuit. Fighting-types like Gurdurr and Primeape appreciate Aggron wearing down Musharna and Qwilfish, enabling them to either sweep or clean late-game. Eelektross provides a slow Volt Switch on top of threatening Pokemon that commonly wall Aggron, such as Mudsdale and Poliwrath, with either Giga Drain or Thunderbolt. In return, Aggron breaks through specially defensive walls such as Roselia and Audino.

Moves Heavy Slam is Mega Aggron's preferred STAB move, possessing a high Base Power against most foes due to Mega Aggron's weight. Curse boosts Mega Aggron's Attack and Defense stats, allowing it to better combat threatening physical attackers such as Terrakion and Scizor. Rest provides means of healing off damage and curing itself of crippling burns, at the cost of putting itself to sleep for two turns. Sleep Talk lets Mega Aggron attack foes with Heavy Slam or further accumulate Curse boosts while asleep. Set Details 252 HP and Special Defense EVs combined with a Careful nature minimize damage taken from threatening special attackers like Latias, Celebi, and Nihilego. If Aggron has not Mega Evolved and is at maximum HP, Sturdy guarantees that it can stomach one hit. Usage Tips Curse Mega Aggron will rarely make progress early-game due to the prevalence of sturdy answers to it such as Rotom-H, Empoleon, and Moltres. To counteract this, weaken or remove these answers before starting to accumulate Curse boosts in the hopes of sweeping. While Curse Mega Aggron has less defensive utility overall, it can still be used to check Pokemon such as Latias and Mega Altaria solely by virtue of its defensive typing and use of Heavy Slam. Revealing RestTalk Curse Mega Aggron's set early on will often make the opponent realize the importance of keeping their answers healthy, so it is generally preferred to keep it under wraps until it is capable of doing meaningful damage. Additionally, while Rest may be necessary to keep Mega Aggron healthy, gauge when it is necessary to do so, as using it tends to give up large amounts of momentum. It is usually best to start using Curse while in advantageous positions like against Pokemon such as Gligar, Krookodile, and Dragon Dance Mega Altaria that can deal little damage to it, especially after Mega Aggron starts increasing its Defense. Team Options Curse Mega Aggron fits best on bulky offense and balance teams that appreciate its role as a long-term wincon as well as a strong check to Pokemon like Latias, Mega Aerodactyl, and Mega Altaria. Grass- and Electric-types such as Tsareena, Celebi, and Zeraora stand out as strong partners, as they threaten bulky Water-types, some of Mega Aggron's sturdiest answers. Rotom-H also absorbs the Ground- and Fire-type moves aimed at Mega Aggron, effectively deals with Moltres, and uses Toxic to wear down Mega Aggron checks like Hippowdon and opposing Rotom-H. Due to lacking the move itself, Curse Mega Aggron teams need an alternate Stealth Rock setter. Options like Rhyperior and Nihilego check Fire-types like Rotom-H and Moltres, and Mega Aggron checks Latias for them in return. Primarina makes for a strong partner by checking Hydreigon and Infernape, and Mega Aggron can cover its weaknesses to Poison- and Grass-type moves in return. Latias offers some nice defensive synergy, taking little to no damage from Fire-, Fighting-, and Ground-type moves; Mega Aggron covers Fairy-, Ice-, and Bug-type moves for Latias. Fire- and Fighting-types such as Infernape, Cobalion, and Volcanion also make great partners, as they are able to break past the Steel-types that Mega Aggron struggles with, while Volcanion is also able to pivot into Water-types like Primarina and Mantine to break or whittle them down.

Moves Heavy Slam is Mega Aggron's STAB move of choice, maintaining high Base Power against much of the metagame due to Mega Aggron's substantial weight. Earthquake provides great coverage alongside Heavy Slam, most notably letting Mega Aggron punish entry hazard removers like Tentacruel and Empoleon while also hitting threats like Cobalion, Infernape, and Terrakion for significant damage. Fire Punch is an alternative coverage option that punishes a different group of Steel-types, allowing Mega Aggron to more effectively check Scizor, though it tends to be less useful than Earthquake overall. Toxic lets Mega Aggron pressure foes such as Hippowdon, Hydreigon, Rotom-H, and Moltres, which otherwise fear little from it. Likewise, Head Smash can be used to punish and remove the aforementioned Moltres and Rotom-H while also hitting the likes of Mantine, users that commonly come in to remove its Stealth Rock. Mega Aggron can also use Roar to phaze foes, helping to chip them down in combination with Stealth Rock, though Toxic is generally more useful. Set Details Maximum Special Defense investment with a Careful nature gives Mega Aggron the best possible one-on-one matchup against threats such as Latias, Celebi, and Nihilego. Prior to Mega Evolution, Sturdy lets a full health Aggron act as an emergency revenge killer to a threatening sweeper if need be. Usage Tips Aggron's bulk, ability, and defensive typing all improve remarkably upon Mega Evolution, often making Mega Evolving a smart option upon initial entry. Prioritize getting up Stealth Rock early when facing foes such as Moltres and Rotom-H that are greatly hindered by its presence. Spread Toxic early- to mid-game on Pokemon like Hippowdon, Rotom-H, Mew, and Alomomola, which tend to be solid initial answers to Mega Aggron. Mew in particular being an important target as it can't synchronize back the poison, otherwise it easily keeps Mega Aggron's Stealth Rock off the field and can whittle it down with Will-O-Wisp and Seismic Toss. However, in these scenarios, be specifically careful in trying to cripple bulky Water-types like Mega Slowbro and Alomomola, as a Scald burn severely cripples Mega Aggron's longevity and overall effectiveness. As it is often worn down quickly, be sure to keep Mega Aggron healthy enough to handle a threat such as Mega Aerodactyl, Latias, or Scizor if necessary. When coming into Latias, scouting for Electrium Z is often a good option if your opponent uses Calm Mind when Mega Aggron has a high amount of health. If using Head Smash then it should be used on the anticipated switch in of Moltres and Rotom-H, it can also be important to not Mega Evolve in order to better take their Fire-type STAB moves and have access to a STAB Head Smash, which guarantees the OHKO on Rotom-H. Watch out for coverage moves that can deal significant damage to Mega Aggron such as Togekiss's Aura Sphere, Mega Altaria's Fire Blast, and Nihilego's Gigavolt Havoc. In the rare occasion that Aggron has not Mega Evolved and a weakened sweeper is getting out of hand, Sturdy lets Aggron act as a one-time check if it is at full health. Team Options Mega Aggron can fit on a variety of playstyles ranging from bulky offense to stall, all of which appreciate its defensive capabilities and effectiveness as a Stealth Rock setter. Wish support from users like Alomomola, Florges, and Sylveon is much appreciated, helping to counteract Mega Aggron's tendency to be worn down over time. Rotom-H and Nihilego make for effective Mega Aggron partners, taking on threats to it in Moltres and opposing Rotom-H, proceeding to gain momentum or use powerful attacks. Rotom-H may also relieve Mega Aggron of the need to run Fire Punch as a strong Scizor check in its own right. Grass-types like Tsareena and Celebi fit nicely, punishing bulky Water-types and taking full advantage of Mega Aggron's Stealth Rock support. Choice Scarf Krookodile takes some pressure off of Mega Aggron in dealing with key threats in Latias and Mega Aerodactyl, as well as acting as a solid answer to Mega Manectric; in return, Mega Aggron can spread Toxic onto some of Krookodile's most reliable answers like Hippowdon and Alomomola. Tentacruel, Gligar, Starmie, and Mantine provide entry hazard removal, most notably clearing Spikes that hinder Mega Aggron's longevity. All of them are able to take on the premier Fighting-types in the tier that threaten Mega Aggron while the Water-types can also pivot into the Fire-type coverage aimed at it. Dragon-types such as Latias and Hydreigon possess great overall synergy, as they can take on some of Mega Aggron's weaknesses as well as take advantage of Mew, and in return, Mega Aggron handles the Fairy-types that trouble them. Fighting-types like Infernape, Lucario, and Terrakion appreciate Mega Aggron's ability to handle Psychic- and bulky Fairy-types, and Mega Aggron can set Stealth Rock to aid them in their wallbreaking or sweeping efforts.

Moves Head Smash is essential for a high-Base Power Continental Crush able to KO Pokemon like both Mega Charizard X and Y and Incineroar. Rock Tomb is primarily used to lower the Speed of Dragonite while breaking its Multiscale. Screech is helpful for softening up foes too bulky for Aggron to beat normally, like Porygon2, Type: Null, and Z-Conversion Porygon-Z. Heavy Slam is necessary for Tapu Lele, as well as easing the matchup against Mega Gardevoir. It is also useful for non-Iron Head Mega Mawile. Metal Burst can be run to beat Choice item users like Genesect, Choice Band Garchomp, and especially Choice Scarf Dragonite. Taunt is another option in order to beat stall Deoxys-S. Set Details 208 HP EVs along with 52 Special Defense EVs let Aggron tank Earthquake + Extreme Speed from Dragonite and Breakneck Blitz + Shadow Ball from Porygon-Z. 156 Speed EVs let Aggron outspeed Adamant Dragonite after a Speed drop from Rock Tomb. The rest are put into Attack for maximum damage output. Usage Tips In general, Aggron is going to want to attack a Pokemon only when they are put range of Continental Crush by Screech or Rock Tomb. Screech should be used against slower and bulkier Pokemon, like Celesteela and Porygon2, while Rock Tomb is most useful against Choice Band variants of Dragonite. Rockium Z Aggron looks the same as Mega Aggron at Team Preview but beats a few foes that Mega Aggron can't, like Volcarona and Incineroar. This lets Rockium Z Aggron lure in and defeat these Pokemon. Additionally, Mega Aggron has very unreliable win chances against both Mega Charizard X and Y, so Rockium Z Aggron can bait Charizard to an extent as well. Against Porygon-Z, use Screech followed by Continental Crush to beat it in case it uses Z-Conversion. Against bulky Pokemon like Type: Null and Porygon2, Aggron will need to use Screech twice before attacking in order to KO with Continental Crush. Against Type: Null, although Screech can miss, it has far greater PP than Iron Defense and Type: Null cannot threaten Aggron offensively, so eventually you will be able to put it in range of Continental Crush. Against non-Iron Head Mega Mawile, use Screech at first to avoid Metal Burst and Sucker Punch. This matchup is far from reliable, though, because if Mawile never uses Metal Burst and instead keeps attacking, Aggron will be forced to either try to PP stall Sucker Punch with Screech or use Heavy Slam, which runs the risk of Mawile using Metal Burst. If Metal Burst is ran, Aggron will need to predict if Dragonite is holding a Choice Scarf or not and use either Rock Tomb or Metal Burst accordingly. It should be noted that while Aggron can usually force an Earthquake from non-Choice Scarf Dragonite variants, experienced players can simply use their Z-Move followed by an Earthquake to KO it. Team Options Aggron is very weak to bulky Water-types like Mega Gyarados, Primarina, Tapu Fini, and Mega Slowbro. Electric- and Grass-types like Zapdos and Tapu Bulu can cover this weakness while benefiting from Aggron's ability to beat offensive wallbreakers like Mega Charizard X, Dragonite, and Normalium Z Porygon-Z. Aggron is deathly weak to Ground-types like Zygarde, Landorus-T, and Donphan, so Water- and Grass-types like Manaphy and Serperior can be valuable partners. In return, Aggron can beat Pokemon like Mega Charizard Y, fast Choice Band Victini, and Crustle. Opposing Steel-types like Magearna, Magnezone, Celesteela, and Heatran can wall Rockium Z Aggron very easily, so Fire- and Ground-types like Mega Blaziken and Zygarde partner well with it. In return, Aggron can help these Pokemon with threats such as Dragonite, Meloetta, and Clefable.

Moves Metal Burst is a very useful move for Mega Aggron's arsenal. Combined with Filter and Sturdy, it can take out threats such as Haxorus, Naganadel, and Dragonite. Head Smash's high Base Power and Rock STAB combined with Sturdy can let Aggron take out both Mega Charizard X and Mega Charizard Y. Be wary, though, as its poor accuracy and heavy recoil might lead to losing some matches, especially against Mega Charizard X and Y. Heavy Slam is Mega Aggron's most reliable STAB move. Its damage is based on its weight, which makes it have a consistently high Base Power, with Mega Aggron being one of the heaviest Pokemon in the metagame. It can easily defeat Pokemon such as Tapu Lele, Clefable, and Mega Altaria. Earthquake is a strong Ground-type coverage move that can super effectively hit most of the typings that resist Heavy Slam and Head Smash, making it a reliable choice to beat the likes of Aegislash and Mega Metagross. Taunt is a very useful move that can beat semi-stall Pokemon like Porygon2 and help Mega Aggron's matchup against fast sleep users such as Vivillon and Jumpluff. Avalanche can be used to beat Pokemon like Landorus-T, Zygarde, and uninvested Dragonite without worrying about mind games from setup or chip damage moves. Set Details 240 HP and 64 Defense EVs with a Relaxed Nature makes it so Mega Aggron will be able to tank a Fake Out followed up by two High Jump Kicks from Mega Lopunny, as well as Pokemon like Mega Charizard X and Haxorus. 240 HP also allows Mega Aggron to deal as much damage as possible with its Metal Burst. 204 Attack investment gives it as much offensive power as possible in order to solidify matchups against Z-Reflect Tapu Lele, Will-O-Wisp Mega Gardevoir, and Mega Charizard X, as well as always OHKO Aegislash in its Blade for before mega evolving. 0 Speed IVs allow Aggron to get outsped by the majority of the Pokemon in the metagame, letting it use Metal Burst successfully as often as possible against slow Pokemon such as Scrafty; it also helps by letting it move last against Aegislash and knock it out with Earthquake. Usage Tips Mega Aggron's massive physical bulk and strength make it a good choice against most physically offensive Pokemon, like Mega Tyranitar and Tapu Bulu. The combination of Sturdy and Metal Burst makes it ideal to face Choice item users such as Kartana, Genesect, and Garchomp. Against Pokemon you predict to set up offensively like non-Taunt and non-Earthquake Mega Gyarados and Manaphy, you can use Taunt turn 1 to force them to attack. When facing any of Charizard's Mega Evolutions, your best bet is to not Mega Evolve and retain Aggron's Sturdy, then hit them with a STAB Head Smash. This will prevent a Mega Charizard Y from OHKOing, and maintain Rock-type STAB so you can OHKO Mega Charizard X or 2HKO after a Will-O-Wisp. Against opposing Mega Lopunny, don't use Metal Burst, as this can potentially let them gain the advantage with moves like Substitute or Encore. Just mega evolve and use Heavy Slam for a comfortable 2HKO. When up against Pokemon like Jumpluff and Porygon2, neutralize them with Taunt as soon as possible, and then KO them with Heavy Slam or Metal Burst. Team Options Mega Aggron's lack of Special Defense can really put it at a disadvantage against Pokemon that can negate Sturdy before it can attack, such as Primarina and Mega Blastoise, so a specially bulky teammate like Mega Gardevoir or Togekiss would cover that weakness greatly. In exchange, Mega Aggron can provide an immunity to Poison-type attacks from Pokemon like Naganadel and Nihilego and good physical bulk to make up for its teammate's lack of it, which would otherwise lose to other Steel-types like Kartana. Pokemon like Greninja and Zeraora can make up for Mega Aggron's lack of Speed, dealing with Pokemon like Volcarona, while Mega Aggron compensates for their lack of bulk by beating strong Choice Scarf Pokemon such as Darmanitan and Haxorus. Mega Aggron is easily dealt with by very physically bulky Pokemon such as Kommo-o and Mega Venusaur, so strong special attackers like Porygon-Z and Tapu Lele pair perfectly with Mega Aggron. In exchange, Mega Aggron beats Pokemon with massive Special Defense, such as Mega Gardevoir and Araquanid. Fake Out or Mold Breaker Pokemon like Mega Lopunny and Excadrill can deal with other Sturdy Pokemon like Golem, Magnezone, and Carracosta, which pose a threat to Mega Aggron. In exchange, Mega Aggron can deal with strong Choice Scarf Pokemon such as Victini and Garchomp.

Moves Head Smash 2HKOes Rock-resistant Pokemon such as Hariyama and Golurk. Only a couple of Pokemon can reliably switch into Head Smash, such as Gastrodon and defensive Poliwrath, but even they take a substantial amount of damage from it. Heavy Slam allows Aggron to easily beat Mega Audino and Rhydon, hitting both for super effective damage. Its use extends beyond that, though, as there might be situations where its power is enough and you can't risk missing Head Smash. Superpower in combination with an Adamant nature and Choice Band allows Aggron to 2HKO Steelix and Ferroseed, two prominent Head Smash responses. Superpower is the Fighting-type move of choice because Low Kick offers either equal or less damage depending on the target, but it does offer a more reliable 2HKO on Steelix and does not leave Aggron at -2 Attack and Defense after the KO. Ice Punch is primarily used for Torterra, which is able to switch into Head Smash with ease and threaten to KO with Earthquake, though Ice Punch requires Stealth Rock to be set up to OHKO defensive Torterra sets. Set Details Rock Head allows Aggron to use Head Smash without the worry of recoil, while maximum Attack and Speed EVs, a Choice Band, and an Adamant nature allow Aggron to be as threatening as possible. A Jolly nature can be considered to ensure that Aggron outspeeds neutral-natured Aurorus, offensive Mega Audino, and other Adamant Aggron, but the power from an Adamant nature is often more sought after. Stone Plate is an option over Choice Band to bait Head Smash switch-ins with a surprise follow-up coverage move, but the damage drop is noticeable. Usage Tips Aggron has trouble switching into offensive threats and dealing with fast teams in general due to its weaknesses to common coverage moves. In terms of offensive Pokemon Aggron can switch into, Scyther and Swellow present opportunities, as Scyther's STAB moves do pitiful damage, and Swellow can only hurt Aggron with Heat Wave. Look towards using Head Smash the most against offensive teams, as their Pokemon are frail for the most part and won't be able to take the hit. Despite Aggron's bad matchup versus fast teams, Aggron has little trouble with slower ones, being able to come in on passive Pokemon such as Miltank and Musharna. Being wary of Rock-resistant Pokemon is important, as using Head Smash and being forced out will sap momentum, so be ready to opt for your coverage moves. Team Options Late-game cleaners and physical Water-types such as Kabutops, Samurott, and Barbaracle especially appreciate having bulky walls and their common checks being broken by Aggron, while faster Pokemon can pick up the slack where Aggron lacks. Reliable pivots such as Lanturn, defensive Xatu, and Rotom greatly aid Aggron in getting into the battle safely, and all of the aforementioned Pokemon are good switch-ins to Pokemon that use the Fighting- and Ground-type moves that easily beat Aggron. Since Aggron is so slow, Sticky Web from Smeargle or Thunder Wave from Mesprit or Lanturn can easily turn faster offensive threats into sitting targets for Head Smash. Entry hazard support is key, as entry hazards can dissuade Aggron's usual switch-ins from repeatedly taking hits. Stealth Rock secures the 2HKO on defensive Poliwrath, while Spikes ensures Gastrodon can be 2HKOed. Defensive Mesprit is a particularly good choice due to its resistance and immunity to Fighting- and Ground-type attacks respectively.

Moves Mega Aggron's bulk makes it a great user of Stealth Rock. Heavy Slam is Aggron's STAB move and packs quite a punch even without any Attack investment, thanks to how heavy Aggron is. Avalanche deals lots of damage to Pokemon that would otherwise wall this set, such as Landorus-T and Gliscor, and is used over Ice Punch because Aggron is slower than its targets anyways. Thunder Wave is one of Aggron's best support options; it slows down faster Pokemon, making them easier to check. Fire Punch allows Mega Aggron to counter Mega Scizor while also hitting Ferrothorn, but Earthquake can be used instead to hit Heatran and Excadrill. Rock Slide can be used to hit Flying-types such as Talonflame and Mega Pinsir. Dragon Tail is another option to phaze Pokemon that try to set up on Aggron, while also racking up residual damage if entry hazards are in play. Set Details 252 HP EVs and an Impish nature take advantage of Aggron's stellar Defense, while 240 Special Defense EVs are used to patch up its weaker Special Defense. The rest of the EVs are placed into Defense to reach a jump point. Investing more into Defense is also an option to better check physical attackers, but Aggron is already incredibly physically bulky. Investing some EVs into Attack can be done to hit harder, but Aggron's main purpose is to serve as a tank. Usage Tips Mega Evolving Aggron as soon as possible is crucial, as it is quite useless before that. This can be accomplished through a slow U-turn or Volt Switch, or by sending Aggron in after a teammate faints. Aggron is a great defensive tank, so use it to check dangerous physical attackers such as Mega Pinsir, Mega Metagross, and Mega Altaria. Aggron lacks reliable recovery, so try not to let it get worn down too much. Team Options Alomomola can pass massive Wishes to Mega Aggron which helps deal with its lack of recovery, while also being able to switch into Fire-types such as Mega Charizard X and threaten it with Toxic. Dragon-types such as Dragonite and Garchomp make for good partners, as they appreciate Mega Aggron's ability to handle most Fairy- and Dragon-types. Mega Aggron is effective at luring out and dealing with Gliscor and Landorus-T; Pokemon that appreciate these foes gone such as Terrakion are also good teammates. In general, Pokemon that can take on strong special attackers make for solid partners. Chansey is an excellent partner, being able to pass Wishes to keep Aggron healthy, ward off powerful special attackers, and cure status, which neuters Aggron.

Moves Aggron's potency as an offensive Pokemon in RU is shown here with a powerful Choice Band set. With a Choice Band equipped and an Adamant nature, Aggron will 2HKO even the bulkiest of Pokemon without a Rock-type resistance with Head Smash. The rest of Aggron's moveset is basically there for covering what can survive Head Smash. Heavy Slam is a good secondary STAB option thanks to Aggron's high weight and is able to take care of Fairy-types more reliably as well as Flygon. Its perfect accuracy may also make it optimal in scenarios where Aggron can't afford to miss with a move. Low Kick is a very important move for Aggron and is arguably the second biggest reason to fear it. It 2HKOes Rhyperior, the primary Rock-resistant Pokemon in RU, without the need for entry hazard support. Aggron's last move targets specific Pokemon that can stand in the way of Head Smash. Fire Punch is preferred, as Bronzong is quite common and it also OHKOes Escavalier without having to risk a miss with Head Smash. Ice Punch is an option if defensive Flygon is a problem for your team. Set Details The EV spread maximizes Aggron's offensive potential with maximum Attack and Speed investment. Adamant is the preferred nature for the power boost, as Jolly does not give Aggron any notable Speed advantages. Choice Band is the best item for Aggron, as it will be using Head Smash most of the time anyway. Rock Head is the only ability that should even be considered for this set, as the recoil from Head Smash would be absolutely ridiculous otherwise. As Aggron does have some nice resistances to Normal-, Flying-, and Fairy-type moves, it could utilize a bulkier EV spread. However, Aggron's low Special Defense and various weaknesses will usually make this investment very inconsistent. Usage Tips Using Aggron is relatively simple. It has notable resistances to Normal-, Flying-, and Fairy-type moves, so try to switch it into those attacks. Unless the situation calls for something else, you'll generally want to let Aggron unleash its powerful Head Smash once it's in battle. If the opponent has a healthy Rhyperior, Low Kick is a good choice to go for, as that is their likely switch-in. If you can't afford a miss but still want to use a powerful STAB move, Heavy Slam should be used. Fire Punch is great for catching Bronzong wanting to switch in if Aggron is using it. If Aggron has Fire Punch, make sure to catch Bronzong on the switch in. Finally, make sure Aggron has good pivots to fall back on, as its low Speed will often mean Aggron is forced out once it scores a KO. Team Options Aggron is a powerful wallbreaker, so fast sweepers and late-game cleaners, such as Aerodactyl, are go-to options to take advantage of this. With weaknesses to common Fighting-, Ground-, and Water-type moves, Aggron appreciates teammates it can fall back on when these types of Pokemon come in. Slowking has Regenerator to allow it to keep switching into Water- and Fighting-type moves for Aggron and can run Thunder Wave to slow down the opposing team, run a Choice Specs set to maintain offensive pressure, or give Aggron Trick Room support to help fix its low Speed. If utilizing Trick Room support, make sure Aggron's nature and EVs are adjusted accordingly. Specifically, use a Brave nature, move all the Speed EVs to HP, and reduce the Speed IVs to 0. Virizion resists Water- and Ground-type moves and can maintain offensive pressure with Swords Dance or Calm Mind sets. Seismitoad and Mesprit are good Stealth Rock users to use with Aggron, as Seismitoad is immune to Water-type moves, while while Mesprit is immune to Ground-type moves. Seismitoad can reliably check Rhyperior if Aggron doesn't predict their switch in with Low Kick during a match, while Mesprit can provide Healing Wish support or function as a Rhyperior lure with the right coverage move.

Moves Stealth Rock damages the foe as it switches in. Roar is a reliable phazing tool and allows Mega Aggron to rack up Stealth Rock damage on the opposing team. However, Toxic may be used instead to cripple walls such as Vaporeon, Suicune, Swampert, and Alomomola, as may Thunder Wave, which Mega Aggron generally uses to paralyze foes on the switch. Heavy Slam has massive power coming off of Mega Aggron's base 140 Attack stat and does serious damage thanks to Mega Aggron's gargantuan weight. Earthquake provides good coverage alongside Heavy Slam, hitting Steel-, Fire-, and Electric-type Pokemon for super effective damage. Set Details Maximum HP investment makes Mega Aggron very bulky, allowing it to take hits from both physical and special attacks. 16 Defense EVs and an Impish nature hit a jump point and give Mega Aggron a high chance to survive two Choice Band-boosted Earthquakes from Krookodile. The remaining EVs are placed into Special Defense to help Mega Aggron take special attacks better. Usage Tips In certain situations, it is better to hold off on Mega Evolving Aggron. For example, if Aggron is up against Entei, not Mega Evolving it lets Aggron take less damage from an incoming Sacred Fire; due to Aggron's Rock typing, it will take neutral damage. When running Roar, predict switches wisely. Use an attack that would badly damage the predicted switch-in, or use Roar when you think that Mega Aggron can't do much damage to the predicted switch-in. Team Options Due to its lack of recovery, Mega Aggron partners well with Vaporeon, Blissey, Alomomola, Florges, and Aromatisse, as they can all heal it with Wish. Mega Aggron and any of the aforementioned Pokemon also work well together thanks to their good type synergy. Special walls such as Blissey and Florges in particular form a great defensive core with Mega Aggron, as Mega Aggron tanks physical attacks, while the special wall can tank special attacks. Be careful when using the likes of Blissey and Vaporeon, however, as they invite Heracross to come in, which threatens the core significantly. Powerful sweepers such as Nidoking, Darmanitan, and Mienshao are good partners for Mega Aggron because they have an easier time sweeping late-game thanks to Stealth Rock. Bulky Water-types make good teammates for Mega Aggron, as they handle the Fire-types that threaten it. Grass-type Pokemon and Choice Band Guts Machamp can handle the bulky Water-types that threaten Mega Aggron and don't mind switching into Scald.

Moves Curse makes Mega Aggron a great bulky setup sweeper. Heavy Slam hits very hard due to Mega Aggron's massive weight. Iron Head is an option with more PP and gives Mega Aggron a better matchup against heavy Pokemon such as Snorlax. Rest is Mega Aggron's only recovery option, and it also serves to cure troublesome status such as burn and paralysis. Sleep Talk takes up the fourth move slot, allowing Mega Aggron to boost its stats or attack against opponents while asleep. Earthquake can be used over Sleep Talk to catch Fire-types off guard. Set Details Maximum HP EVs are needed because of Mega Aggron's average base 70 HP stat. Maximum Special Defense investment is used to reduce damage taken from special attackers while setting up with Curse, allowing Mega Aggron to survive two Focus Blasts from defensive Reuniclus, a Fire Blast from Chandelure, a Life Orb-boosted Fire Blast from Timid Moltres, and a Modest maximum Special Attack Focus Blast from Mega Ampharos. Careful is the preferred nature, as it greatly improves Mega Aggron's special bulk. Usage Tips Before setting up with Curse, be sure to weaken or defeat powerful Fire-types, as they can threaten Mega Aggron with their powerful STAB attacks. Pokemon with access to Roar such as Suicune, Vaporeon, Swampert can phaze Mega Aggron while it is trying to set up with Curse. Mega Aggron often loses to bulky setup sweepers such as Suicune, Curse Swampert, Reuniclus, and Doublade, so it's better to take them out before attempting to set up with Curse. Taking out powerful Fighting- and Ground-types before sending Mega Aggron out is very recommended, as they'll give Mega Aggron a hard time setting up. Mega Aggron's setup fodder consists mostly of Fairy-types, passive Pokemon, and physical attackers it can deal with. Thanks to its beastly Defense, and even more so thanks to Rest, Mega Aggron can function as a counter to plenty of physical attackers. A few uses of Curse and the ability Filter work in tandem to allow Mega Aggron to take Lucario's Close Combat and Darmanitan's Flare Blitz easily. Team Options Specially defensive Pokemon such as Florges or Vaporeon are great partners for Mega Aggron because they can help with super effective special attacks, which Mega Aggron struggles with. Clerics pair well with Mega Aggron, replacing the unreliable Rest with a trusty Wish. Physically defensive Florges will greatly aid Mega Aggron by dealing with Fighting-types. Bulky Water-types like Suicune and Slowking help Mega Aggron with the threat posed by Fire-types and overall pair well with it. Conversely, a Pokemon that can easily defeat bulky Water-types, such as Shaymin or Heliolisk, is very appreciated too. Reliable Ground- and Fighting-resistant Pokemon such as Crobat and Cresselia support Mega Aggron decently. Entry hazard support from Pokemon such as Swampert, Dragalge, Chesnaught, Tentacruel, and Nidoqueen can help wear down common checks and support Mega Aggron for a potential sweep.

The obscene power Head Smash carries, combined with the fact that it has no recoil, means that Aggron will rarely have to use any other move, making Choice Band a perfect fit for Aggron. Every team should have a reliable switch-in for Head Smash, as otherwise whenever Aggron gets on the field, it will likely net a KO. Due to the numerous Pokemon that Aggron can switch into and immediately threaten thanks to its large amount of resistances and titanic physical bulk, such as Cinccino, Escavalier, and Spiritomb, Aggron gets more opportunities to switch in than one would expect from its typing and unleash Head Smash, which is strong enough to potentially OHKO Magneton after a layer of Spikes! Aggron even has coverage moves to deal with the majority of Pokemon that resist Head Smash. Both Earthquake and Low Kick allow Aggron to hit Steel-types, but Earthquake is preferred in order to OHKO Magneton without any support, which could otherwise trap and KO Aggron—Low Kick does not OHKO any variant of Magneton. However, Low Kick does allow Aggron to 2HKO Steelix, a Pokemon that takes nothing from Head Smash. Due to Aggron's immense weight, Heavy Slam is a reliable alternative STAB that will hit most Pokemon for full power and not miss, along with hitting Fighting-types neutrally and 2HKOing Rhydon. The last slot is fairly situational, but Aqua Tail is preferred to OHKO both Rhydon and Golurk, which can be annoying to deal with. However, Fire Punch allows Aggron to OHKO and 2HKO Ferroseed and Torterra, respectively. Despite being slow, Aggron's weaknesses make investing in bulk not worth it as it will usually be OHKOed by Earthquakes, Close Combats, and practically any move it is weak to on the special side regardless of investment. However, if you do desire bulk to take resisted hits better, 140 Speed EVs is the lowest Aggron should go, as it allows Aggron to outspeed Lanturn before it can use Scald. Superpower is an option over Low Kick or Earthquake, as it is consistently strong on the first hit while still providing Fighting-type coverage to hit Ferroseed. However, the stat drops are usually not worth it. Despite its damage output, there are a few Pokemon that can take a Head Smash, namely Ground-, Steel-, Fighting-, and some Rock-types. Poliwrath has a large amount of physical bulk and resistances that allow it to take on hits from most of the aforementioned Pokemon, and proceed to phaze them out and wear them down with Circle Throw. On the offensive side, Aggron is vulnerable to Earthquake and Close Combat, both of which it is 4x weak to. Uxie can take these moves easily thanks to its massive bulk and resistances, possibly allowing it to set up Calm Mind or cripple the opposing Pokemon with status. Moltres, on the other hand, can OHKO STAB users of these moves while also resisting both types. Under Trick Room, Aggron is nothing short of terrifying due to its low Speed then becoming an advantage. Slowking is the best option for a setter, as it can take Water-, Fighting-, and Fire-type attacks aimed at Aggron with ease. Other Psychic-types such as Mesprit and Exeggutor can also set up Trick Room if Slowking is performing a different role on your team already, and both can set up on Ground-type moves. Note that, if Aggron is on a Trick Room team, a Brave nature and minimum Speed should be used.

Aggron has always had problems with its Speed stat, but fortunately, its access to Rock Polish allows it to fix this issue. This variant of Aggron is one of the most difficult Pokemon in RU for offensive teams to deal with, as it outspeeds the majority of the tier, including the popular Choice Scarf Emboar, hits obscenely hard, and is surprisingly hard to take down with priority; to put it in perspective, Life Orb Adamant Kabutops can only 3HKO Aggron with Aqua Jet, despite it being weak to the move and having no defensive investment whatsoever. Aside from Rock Polish, this set functions similarly to the Choice Band set. Head Smash will be used most frequently and is likely to OHKO any offensive Pokemon that doesn't resist the move. Earthquake covers Steel-types that resist the move, and Heavy Slam can serve as an alternative STAB and is Aggron's best option against most Fighting-types. Note that the power Heavy Slam can provide means that Aggron should not run the usually superior Autotomize over Rock Polish. While a Jolly nature lets Aggron outspeed Accelgor, an Adamant nature is preferred because, without it, Aggron cannot OHKO offensive Slowking or Lanturn, which could potentially end a sweep. A Life Orb is suggested in order to make everything hit harder, but the recoil damage can end up being a bit annoying. Although Life Orb is almost always worth the recoil, a Hard Stone is an alternative option in order to power up only Head Smash, the main move that will be used. While Lum Berry is a common item on sweepers such as Aggron, the likeliness of Aggron getting statused isn't high enough to give up power. Fighting-types are irritating for this set to deal with, as Mach Punch comes very close to an OHKO on Aggron for most Pokemon and Poliwrath walls Aggron easily. Rotom is an excellent partner as a result, due to it being immune to Fighting, having access to Will-O-Wisp to cripple them, and Thunderbolt to hit Poliwrath hard. It also takes on Aqua Jet users such as Kabutops and Samurott decently in case they try and finish off a weakened Aggron. A few common Pokemon can outspeed and threaten Aggron after the boost, including Accelgor, Choice Scarf Rotom-C, and Choice Scarf Manectric. Druddigon makes a decent switch-in to their strongest moves and can retaliate with a STAB move or Sucker Punch. If you suspect the Electric-types will try to use Volt Switch, Ground-types such as Golurk can stop their momentum. Golurk has the advantage of being able to check Accelgor as well. Rock- and Steel-types have high Defense and take Head Smash on well and might be able to sponge an Earthquake, so Poliwrath makes a good partner to switch in and wear them down with Circle Throw. Magneton support should be considered to eliminate some threats to Aggron, such as Steelix and Ferroseed, that it has no hope of breaking through.

Autotomize patches up Aggron's Speed, allowing it to pose more of a threat to offensive teams. Head Smash is obviously Aggron's STAB move of choice, and a powerful one at that. Aqua Tail covers Ground-types that resist Head Smash. Low Kick helps deal with most Steel-types, while Magnet Rise allows Aggron to beat walls that can only threaten it with Ground-type moves. Because this set does not have the brute power that Choice Band provides, an Adamant nature is preferred to make Aggron as strong as possible. A Jolly nature is still an option for outpacing base 130 Speed Pokemon, but Aggron will still fail to outrun the majority of Choice Scarf users. A Life Orb boosts power significantly, but using a Chople Berry makes it easier for Aggron to set up. Substitute is an option for blocking status, especially burns and paralysis, while also providing a safety net against attacks. This set appreciates entry hazard support. For example, Spikes support gives Aggron a chance to OHKO offensive Suicune with Head Smash. Roserade makes a great partner, resisting some of Aggron's most common weaknesses while also providing Spikes. Mew can also provide Stealth Rock and burn opponents with Will-O-Wisp, making it easier for Aggron to set up. On that note, dual screen support is recommended. Uxie can set up both Reflect and Light Screen and has other support options that benefit Aggron, including Stealth Rock, Memento, and Yawn. This set greatly fears Choice Scarf users, so a Wynaut holding Eviolite is appreciated for trapping and killing them. Priority users are also a problem, especially Hitmontop and Azumarill. Slowbro handles both handily, resisting their STAB moves and outstalling them with a combination of its impressive bulk and Toxic.

Aggron becomes absurdly lethal when equipped with a Choice Band. Head Smash deals devastating amounts of damage, and Aggron's Rock Head ability blocks recoil, allowing Aggron to use the attack with no risks, save for Head Smash's accuracy. This set focuses on abusing Head Smash, while the rest of the moves cover the Pokemon that resist it. Heavy Slam is a secondary STAB move, and it provides coverage on Fighting-types that resist Head Smash, such as Hitmontop. Earthquake deals with most Steel-types, including Registeel and Empoleon. Aqua Tail nails Ground-types, such as Golurk, Nidoqueen, and Claydol, while Superpower is Aggron's strongest move against Steelix, Empoleon, and Registeel. Although Aggron is incredibly slow, a Jolly nature is recommended for getting the jump on walls that don't invest in Speed, such as minimum Speed Suicune and Milotic. Adamant is still a perfectly acceptable choice, though, since the increase in power is noticeable. Because the opponent will often switch in order to minimize the damage Aggron causes, Focus Punch can be used to nail predicted Head Smash-resisting switch-ins for tons of damage. Because Aggron is so slow, it greatly appreciates paralysis support. Alternatively, giving Aggron a Brave nature, a 0 Speed IV, and moving the Speed EVs to HP makes Aggron a deadly Trick Room sweeper. Victini also hits hard physically and can set up Trick Room for Aggron to run amuck in. Teammates that cover Aggron's weaknesses are also important, especially its Fighting and Ground-type weaknesses. Zapdos resists both types and can scare off the Water-types that threaten Aggron, although it struggles against Quagsire and Swampert if it lacks Hidden Power Grass. Roserade terrorizes the aforementioned Pokemon, resists Fighting- and Water-type attacks, and can lay Spikes, making switching into Aggron more difficult.

As Aggron can force many switches with his multiple resistances and strong attacks, he can run a Substitute set to ease prediction and avoid taking heavy hits. Head Smash is powerful STAB as always, and Earthquake hits Steel-types. In the last slot, Ice Punch KOes Flygon and Gliscor, Magnet Rise nullifies most of Aggron's checks by granting him an immunity to Earthquake, while Aqua Tail hits Hippowdon. The given EVs provide Aggron with maximum bulk while retaining maximum power, but you can take EVs out of HP in order to let Aggron outspeed Skarmory; 164 Speed EVs enable him to beat out uninvested Skarmory. An Adamant nature is recommended because this Aggron does not gain a power boost from his item. Aggron appreciates the partners mentioned in the two previous sets, namely Celebi and Gengar for their useful defensive synergy, Hippowdon and Tyranitar for sandstorm support, and Roserade and Skarmory for Spikes support. Furthermore, Celebi can help take down Pokemon that can survive one of Aggron's hits, such as Hippowdon, Swampert, and Metagross.

With the power of Head Smash further boosted by a Choice Band, Aggron is capable of literally smashing through the opposing team. To put this in perspective, Choice Band Aggron's Head Smash is 9% stronger than Choice Band Groudon's Earthquake. The remaining three moves provide coverage on the Pokemon that resist Aggron's Rock-type STAB: Earthquake hits Steel-types such as Metagross and Jirachi, Aqua Tail destroys Ground-types such as Hippowdon, and Ice Punch takes out Flygon and Breloom, both of whom can take one Head Smash and retaliate. To show the sheer power of Head Smash, here are some calculations against Pokemon that either resist Head Smash or are extremely defensive. These calculations all assume a Jolly nature. Head Smash vs. 12/0 Breloom 74.2% - 87.5% Head Smash vs. 0/0 Jirachi 47.8% - 56.3% Head Smash vs. 252/220+ Celebi 59.7% - 70.5% Head Smash vs. 252/4 Gliscor 75.7% - 89.3% Head Smash vs. 252/252+ Suicune 52.7% - 62.4% Head Smash vs. 252/176+ Skarmory 58.1% - 68.9% Head Smash vs. 252/0 Metagross 35.7% - 42% The listed EVs provide Aggron with maximum power while still letting him outspeed Pokemon such as uninvested Rotom-A, Suicune, Cresselia, and Gyarados; slower stall teams will therefore have even more problems taking out Aggron. If you want more power, feel free to use an Adamant nature along with enough Speed EVs to outspeed Skarmory. 164 Speed EVs let Aggron outrun uninvested Skarmory, but bear in mind that some do invest in Speed. Additionally, Toxic can be used over Ice Punch to cripple Pokemon such as Hippowdon and Swampert on the switch. Due to Aggron's three common weaknesses in Ground, Fighting, and Water, teammates who resist these moves are appreciated. Celebi is a great partner for Aggron because it resists all three of the aforementioned types; it can also spread paralysis with Thunder Wave, which compensates for Aggron's low Speed. Gengar is a good partner as well, as he is immune to Ground- and Fighting-type moves and can lure in Blissey, whom Aggron can easily switch in on. Additionally, Aggron resists Ghost and Dark, which the aforementioned Pokemon are weak to. Sandstorm support is appreciated as it boosts Aggron's Special Defense; Hippowdon can set up Stealth Rock and tank Flygon's Earthquake, while Tyranitar can use a Choice Band set to help wear down the opposing team, or use Flamethrower and Ice Beam to take care of Breloom and Flygon. As Aggron will be switching in and out a lot, Rapid Spin support is helpful; Starmie is a great choice because it not only resists Water and Fighting, but can break down physical walls with its STAB Hydro Pump. Aggron has trouble with defensive Pokemon such as Hippowdon, Swampert, and Metagross. Celebi can handle all three with Grass Knot, Leaf Storm, and Earth Power, respectively. After Aggron KOes a foe, he can easily be revenge killed by faster Pokemon. Flygon can be handled with Gengar, who is immune to Earthquake, and by Hippowdon, who can tank any hit that Flygon throws at him. Hippowdon can also tank Bronzong and Metagross's hits as well as provide sandstorm to boost Aggron's Special Defense. Specially defensive Zapdos can take care of Starmie, Heatran, and Shaymin by tanking their hits and threatening them with its powerful attacks; furthermore, Zapdos has good synergy with Aggron.

Aggron can run a Rock Polish set in order to make up for his mediocre speed. Unlike Rhyperior, +2 Aggron can outspeed Choice Scarf Heatran and OHKO it with Earthquake. Head Smash still does obscene amounts of damage even with only a Life Orb boost, while Earthquake hits the Steel-type Pokemon that threaten Aggron with super effective hits. Ice Punch KOes Gliscor and Breloom, and also takes down Choice Scarf Flygon should Aggron get more than one Rock Polish boost. Aqua Tail dents Hippowdon and can 2HKO him if he's below 75% health. Aggron can run an Adamant nature for more power, but he will fail to outspeed Choice Scarf Heatran and positive-natured base 130s after a Rock Polish boost. As these are Aggron's greatest advantages over Rhyperior, running an Adamant nature is therefore not recommended. As this Aggron is a setup sweeper, sandstorm support is more of a necessity to help him take a hit when he has to. Hippowdon is a good partner because he can take Choice Scarf Flygon's Earthquakes and KO with Ice Fang, while Tyranitar can lure in and KO Flygon with Ice Beam. Due to Aggron's decreased damage output, entry hazard support is helpful to assist in his sweep. Roserade is a good partner because he not only resists Water and Fighting, but can also can scare away bulky Water-types with his Grass-type STAB moves while setting up Spikes in the process. Alternatively, Skarmory is immune to the Ground-type moves that plague Aggron and can Roost off any damage it takes. Pokemon who can cover Aggron's weaknesses, such as Gengar, make good partners; Celebi can also take out bulky Water-types that can take a Head Smash. Aggron has trouble with Hippowdon, Swampert, and Metagross. Roserade and Celebi can take care of the latter two; Celebi can also eliminate Metagross with Earth Power. In addition, even after a boost, Aggron is outsped by base 100 Choice Scarf users. As previously mentioned, both Hippowdon and Tyranitar have ways of beating Flygon, while Choice Scarf Gengar and Starmie can be removed by Pursuit from either Scizor or Tyranitar.

战术分析
Aggron has decent bulk with some HP investment, especially on the physical side, allowing it to easily set up a Substitute on many Pokemon. It also helps that Aggron has quite the ability to force switches with its dangerous 150 Base Power Head Smash attack. The major thing holding Aggron back is its 4x weakness to the ever-common Ground-type attacks, so that's where Magnet Rise comes in. With Magnet Rise, Aggron is barely touchable by its usual counters, who rely on Earthquake to hit Aggron. This means Pokemon such as Donphan will be forced to use Stone Edge, which merely 3HKOes Aggron's Substitute. Pokemon such as Steelix and Donphan are also hit hard by Focus Punch, another 150 Base Power move (though it lacks STAB). The strategy is pretty straightforward: you come in on one of the many attacks that Aggron resists and set up a Substitute. If the opponent switches in a Pokemon such as the previously mentioned Donphan or Steelix, use Magnet Rise. Proceed to destroy your opponent's team from behind your Substitute with Head Smash and Focus Punch. If your opponent has Roar on their Steelix or Donphan, it may be wise to just use Focus Punch instead of Magnet Rise, especially if you have used Magnet Rise earlier in the match. 84 Speed outruns minimum Speed Clefable and Weezing, allowing Aggron to hit them with Head Smash or set up Substitute before getting hit by a status effect. This also helps against Brave Cloyster who runs Surf and would otherwise break your Substitute or even OHKO you before you can OHKO it. 160 HP EVs reaches a Leftovers point +1 HP, allowing Aggron to use Substitute five times from full health. The remaining EVs are put in Special Defense to allow Aggron to more easily switch into Choiced Shadow Ball and Dark Pulse, but they can also be placed into Speed. This set is exceptional with residual damage. It forces switches with Magnet Rise, and Stealth Rock and Spikes turn many 2HKOes into OHKOes, such as against Venusaur. Sandstorm support is also great; it gives Aggron an impressive Special Defense stat to go along with its decent defensive typing. This means Aggron will be able to set up Substitutes on more Pokemon. Since this is essentially a lure for physically defensive Pokemon, Aggron makes a great Pokemon to use alongside Pokemon such as Swellow or Ambipom. With Donphan, Regirock, Registeel, or Steelix out of the way, Swellow and Ambipom can abuse their Speed and powerful Normal-type attacks. Unfortunately, while Aggron has great resistances and Defense, it still has trouble with Water- and Fighting-type attacks. This makes Slowbro and Slowking great teammates for this Aggron set, as they easily fend off both of those attacking types while also spreading paralysis, which always helps any Pokemon with Substitute.

With Choice Band and a Jolly nature, Aggron reaches an astounding 478 Attack. Aggron is easily capable of switching into battle thanks to its numerous resistances. Head Smash is Aggron's main form of attack due to its absurd Base Power, good offensive typing, and STAB. Aqua Tail pairs nicely with Head Smash, hitting those Pokemon hoping to switch into a Rock attack (such as Rock/Ground-types) for super effective damage. Low Kick nails Pokemon such as Steelix, Regirock, and Registeel for an easy 2HKO, while Ice Punch destroys Torterra. If you don't fear Torterra setting up, and you need a way to reliably take out bulky Grass or Water Pokemon, Toxic is a good option over Ice Punch. With a Jolly nature, Aggron will almost always outrun defensive Milotic, and basically any other defensive Pokemon. However, an Adamant nature is viable, boosting Aggron's Attack to 525, meaning Aggron will hit that much harder. Aggron still outpaces most of the walls in UU, but there are defensive Pokemon, such as Milotic and Venusaur, who can easily be faster than Aggron with just 8 or 12 EVs invested in Speed. Aggron works best when used with a sandstorm. In UU, unfortunately, Hippopotas is the only option to set up sandstorm, but it at least can support Aggron with Stealth Rock as well. Speaking of Stealth Rock, Aggron will force a ton of switches regardless of which set it is using, so residual damage of any kind is beneficial. Offensively, Aggron will easily clear the path for fast and frail physical sweepers such as Swellow and Ambipom, since a Choice Band boosted STAB Head Smash will 2HKO or even OHKO many physical walls. With its monstrous Attack and Head Smash's absurd Base Power, Aggron can destroy many of the common physical walls in UU. If you are aiming to sweep with Aggron, using Pokemon such as Blaziken to clear out some of the physical walls is a good idea. Packing a strong Pursuit user to get rid of Claydol is also recommended. Since Aggron will always be locked into an attack, it needs much more defensive support than the other two sets. Pokemon such as Donphan and Steelix easily force Aggron out if it's using Head Smash, so using Pokemon such as Tangrowth or Slowbro to take the physical hits with ease and hit back with STAB attacks is a good idea. Also, almost any special Water-type attack will OHKO Aggron outside of sandstorm, and special attacks in general hurt Aggron. This makes Chansey and Clefable great teammates for Aggron since they can take special hits quite easily, while also being able to set up Stealth Rock and spread paralysis. Clefable can also Encore a Pokemon to help Aggron set up. Mismagius and Rotom have amazing synergy with Aggron, since they resist each other's weaknesses, except for Aggron's Water weakness. Altaria is also a great partner since it resists every one of Aggron's weaknesses.

With Head Smash and a very respectable Attack stat, the only thing stopping Aggron from plowing through teams is its poor Speed. Of course, this can be remedied by Rock Polish, which boosts Aggron's Speed to a whopping 398, outrunning Pokemon such as Dugtrio, Alakazam, and Sceptile, even with a Speed boosting nature. It also outpaces neutral natured base 80s with Choice Scarf, but with a Jolly nature, Aggron is faster than base 80s with Choice Scarf and a Speed boosting nature; however, it really appreciates the power from Adamant, as it secures 2HKOs on Tangrowth and Regirock, while giving Aggron a much higher chance of OHKOing Rhyperior. Aggron needs to focus on super effective coverage, as Head Smash is so powerful that it will do more than almost any other attack even when resisted. Aqua Tail 2HKOes Donphan and OHKOes almost every Rock- or Ground-type, which are Aggron's most common switch-ins. Low Kick 2HKOes Regirock and can KO Registeel if it switches into Stealth Rock and a Head Smash. Ice Punch can be used over Low Kick if you prefer beating Torterra, who is KOed after switching into Head Smash. Aggron has trouble with different Pokemon depending on what it uses in its last move slot. If Aggron uses Low Kick, Torterra will cause some serious trouble. This is easily remedied by using a Pokemon such as Venusaur to switch in and hit Torterra with a strong Sludge Bomb, or better yet, using something like Swords Dance Leafeon to set up on Torterra. If Aggron uses Ice Punch, it will have some trouble with Regirock and Registeel. Registeel is pretty easy to deal with by using a Pokemon such as Donphan or even Torterra to switch in and set up Stealth Rock. Dugtrio can come in and trap it as well. Regirock is more difficult as it hits much harder, meaning you need to carry a Pokemon with respectable defenses that resists Stone Edge and is preferably immune to Thunder Wave. Torterra and Donphan are still both good choices, but Dugtrio isn't powerful enough to trap and KO Regirock as long as it has a decent amount of HP. Using a Pokemon such as Blaziken or Arcanine to break the opponent's walls makes it a lot easier for Aggron to sweep as well, since they will weaken or KO bulky Water-types, such as Slowbro and Milotic, while possibly also taking care of Dugtrio with priority. Aggron definitely benefits from Spikes support as well, because it can then use a Jolly nature, making it less susceptible to Choice Scarf revenge killers. Qwilfish is a pretty good partner, being able to switch into weak Fighting-type attacks and set up. Claydol is also a great teammate, as it not only sets up Stealth Rock and screens, but it also easily takes Fighting- and Ground-type attacks.

This set can wreck about anything that isn't a Ground-type. Thunder Wave cripples Water-types and random fast sweepers, and allows Aggron to fish for full paralysis by continually using Substitute. Then, use Rock Slide to probably nearly flinch them to death. Focus Punch hurts a lot from Aggron's awesome Attack. As it dents even standard walls such as Snorlax and Skarmory, the UU champions Solrock and Sandslash will naturally have a lot of trouble taking this on. 160 Speed lets Aggron outspeed Weezing. Next, maximize Attack, and put what you have left in HP.

This set is pretty straightforward. Aggron's key resistances to certain attacking types such as Rock and Normal lets it switch in easily with some prediction. Again, your opponent will probably send in a bulky Water- or Ground-type, so use prediction accordingly.
