Set Details Chesnaught is one of the most reliable Spikes setters and provides a solid defensive backbone for its team. Knock Off hits the Ghost- and Psychic-types like Basculegion-F and Slowbro that aren't afraid of Body Press while also making foes like Entei and Noivern more susceptible to entry hazards by removing their Heavy-Duty Boots. Synthesis provides a reliable means for Chesnaught to heal itself. Leech Seed is a more offensive form of recovery that provides chip damage to Chesnaught's checks and can also heal its allies. Bulletproof provides an immunity to Gengar's Shadow Ball and Amoonguss's Sludge Bomb. Rocky Helmet punishes U-turn attackers that want to pivot away from Chesnaught like Cyclizar and Jirachi. 52 Speed EVs allow Chesnaught to outspeed uninvested Bisharp, and 204 Defense EVs guarantee that Body Press OHKOes Terrakion after Spikes. Tera Ghost prevents Cyclizar from using Rapid Spin while also providing Chesnaught an immunity to Fighting, improving its matchup against Terrakion. Tera Water flips Chesnaught's Fire weakness, allowing it to stand up against Entei. Tera Steel turns the devastating Flying weakness into a resistance to aid against Noivern and Yanmega, in addition to new resistances to Dragon, Fairy, and Psychic which improve its matchup against Cyclizar, Mimikyu, and Jirachi. Chesnaught can fit comfortably on any team style that needs a defensive presence like balance, bulky offense, or stall. Special walls like Umbreon, Jirachi, and Empoleon are also important due to Chesnaught's poor ability to check the various special attackers of the tier like Gardevoir and Gengar. Chesnaught's natural weakness to Flying-types like Noivern and Tornadus will often invite them in and allow it to use Knock Off to remove their Heavy-Duty Boots, making them vulnerable to Stealth Rock set by Blissey, Registeel, and Rhyperior. Chesnaught is vulnerable to opposing Spikes, so it appreciates hazard removal from allies like Cyclizar and Noivern.

Chesnaught's bulk, recovery, and useful resistances let it frustrate several common physical attackers, most notably Roaring Moon, Ogerpon-C, and Barraskewda, and Spikes provides utility in nearly every matchup. Flame Body has a 30% chance to end the usefulness of opposing offensive pivots, again, most notably Roaring Moon, and greatly frustrates Rapid Spin Great Tusk attempting to clear Spikes. Iron Defense is the preferred fourth move to set up alongside Bulk Up Great Tusk and Swords Dance users like Iron Hands and Garchomp, while Knock Off can help remove Heavy-Duty Boots to further accentuate Spikes. The given EV spread lets Chesnaught outpace Corviknight, giving it extra chances to fish for a burn, as Brave Bird will not 2HKO it after Iron Defense. Chesnaught mostly finds its home on stall teams, where it can find plenty of teammates to switch into its common weaknesses, especially Fire and Psychic, and can find multiple switch-in opportunities to try and activate Flame Body, which is one of the few ways for stall teams to punish pivoting. Chesnaught is especially horrified of Fire-types like Ceruledge and Cinderace, as they can obliterate it without fear of a burn, and it cannot touch Ghost-types like Gengar and Hisuian Zoroark without Knock Off, so teammates like Well-Baked Body Mandibuzz are strongly recommended.

战术分析
Moves Spikes gives Chesnaught and its teammates a way to directly punish switches and weaken the opposing team over the course of the game. Wood Hammer allows Chesnaught to hit Water-types such as Slowbro and Primarina and Ground-types like Swampert and Hippowdon. Roar helps mitigate some of Chesnaught's passiveness that makes it setup fodder for Swords Dance Scizor and Heracross by phazing them. This also works well in tandem with Spikes damage. Drain Punch gives Chesnaught a form of recovery while damaging Dark- and Steel-types like Bisharp and Cobalion. Leech Seed can be run instead to generate passive recovery for Chesnaught so it isn't overreliant on Synthesis, which greatly benefits Rocky Helmet sets particularly. Toxic can be run to punish Chesnaught's switch-ins such as Latias, Moltres, and Infernape to weaken them over time and prevent setup sweepers like Dragon Dance Mega Altaria from setting up. Set Details 12 Speed EVs enable Chesnaught to outspeed Alomomola and potentially KO it with Wood Hammer if it's sufficiently weakened. Leftovers provides consistent passive recovery that can help it check threats like Krookodile without being forced to rely on recovery, while Rocky Helmet helps rack up more chip damage, aided by Spikes damage, on physical foes such as Choice Band Scizor that try to attack it or pivot out with U-turn. Usage Tips Chesnaught can be switched into physical attackers that fail to substantially damage it, such as Bisharp, Krookodile, and Crawdaunt, to generate free turns as they're forced out. Chesnaught can take advantage of free turns to either heal itself or set up Spikes, which can punish the switches that Chesnaught forces by virtue of its typing and physical bulk. Synthesis should be used to maintain Chesnaught's HP if it's needed to check a threatening physical attacker such as Crawdaunt and Zeraora, but it has low PP, so being aware of this and preserving it for when it's necessary ensures Chesnaught has the best matchup against key physical wallbreakers. Chesnaught should utilize Drain Punch consistently due to its good neutral coverage against foes it switches into like Zeraora. It is also optimal to use it against foes such as Krookodile and Crawdaunt to prevent Chesnaught from being worn down through recoil if it can be avoided. Chesnaught is extremely passive and does not have much offensive presence, so it should be wary of letting setup sweepers in. However, if it is running Roar, it can phaze them. Roar can also be used to phaze entry hazard removers predicted to switch in, such as Moltres, Rotom-H, and Tentacruel, to prevent them from being able to remove Chesnaught's Spikes and force them to take more damage from entry hazards when switching back in. Leech Seed should also be used liberally if being run; Leech Seed and Leftovers recovery can help to keep Chesnaught healthy without being forced to rely on Synthesis as much. If a foe is predicted to switch out, using Leech Seed consistently helps to wear switch-ins down and punish them. Status can burden Chesnaught greatly, particularly Toxic poison and burn, so being wary of potential Toxic users like Alomomola and Blissey and Scald users such as Suicune and Empoleon can keep Chesnaught clear of status. Without cleric support, switching Chesnaught into these Pokemon, despite its typing and resistances, can cripple it for the remainder of the game. Team Options Chesnaught fits best on bulky offense and balance teams that need a physically defensive Pokemon with a good matchup against several of the tier's most threatening Dark-types. It appreciates Flying-type checks such as Rotom-H, Nihilego, and Diancie greatly, as they can pivot into foes like Moltres and Togekiss that Chesnaught is forced out by and appreciate Chesnaught dealing with more specially defensive foes such as Blissey. Stealth Rock support from teammates such as the aforementioned Nihilego and Diancie as well as other options such as Hippowdon, Mega Steelix, and Mega Aggron helps Chesnaught by stacking residual damage with Spikes and further punishing switches. The latter two options as well as other Steel-types such as Scizor can help Chesnaught in the matchup against Fairy- and Psychic-types such as Mega Altaria and Latias too. Bulky Water-types such as Slowbro, Tentacruel, and Empoleon can take care of threatening Fire-types such as Infernape and Volcanion for Chesnaught and appreciate its ability to switch into several physical attackers such as Crawdaunt that these Pokemon struggle with. Due to Chesnaught's susceptibility to status, cleric support from teammates such as Togekiss, Blissey, and Florges is appreciated, allowing it to switch into Scald and Toxic more freely to check certain Water-types or set up Spikes. The latter two can also provide Wish support to make Chesnaught less reliant on Synthesis. Immediate offensive threats such as Latias, Choice Band Crawdaunt, and Nidoking can help to make up for Chesnaught's overall passivity, preventing it from letting in too many opposing threats or giving bulkier foes more opportunities to recover HP. Chesnaught offers these Pokemon Spikes support for chip damage on foes as a result; Bisharp is an especially good teammate, providing offensive presence, being able to deter Defog with Defiant, and taking advantage of Spikes support immensely. Due to Chesnaught's role as a Spikes setter, having other team options that can punish opposing entry hazard removal, such as Taunt Hydreigon, Electrium Z Latias, and Pursuit Mega Aerodactyl, is extremely useful.

战术分析
Moves Leech Seed is Chesnaught's main form of recovery and allows it to recover a lot of HP when used in combination with Spiky Shield. Drain Punch is Chesnaught's other form of recovery. Backed by STAB and solid Attack, Drain Punch allows Chesnaught to heal itself while still dishing out damage. Spikes gives Chesnaught utility by punishing opposing Pokemon as they switch in. Chesnaught can set up multiple layers of spikes due to its high physical bulk. Wood Hammer has an impressive Base Power of 120 and is a STAB move and can be used to handle common bulky Water-types and Ground-types such as Azumarill, Hippowdon, Swampert, Quagsire, and Gastrodon. Seed Bomb can be used for its lack of recoil damage, but it has less power. Spiky Shield could also allow Chesnaught to recover more HP in conjunction with Leech Seed while also enabling it to deal chip damage, lock Choiced Pokemon into their respective moves, and enable Chesnaught to better handle Gyarados, a huge boon for a defensive wall. Set Details The EVs are standard for a physical tank such as Chesnaught: max Defense and HP to make it as physically bulky as possible. More Attack and Speed can be used for more offensive prowess, at the cost of some bulk. Bulletproof is far superior to Overgrow, as it gives Chesnaught some helpful immunities to common attacks. Usage Tips Leech Seed with its passive damage and health restoration makes Chesnaught a great tank. Set up Leech Seed as soon as possible. Using Leech Seed on a Pokemon that cannot hurt Chesnaught very much will probably force a switch, and said switch should be capitalized on by setting up Leech Seed or Spikes. That said, Spiky Shield is still a great move that is ideal to use against Choiced foes, such as Keldeo, to scout moves and appropriately respond. If Spiky Shield is not being run, instead use Wood Hammer to force out Pokemon such as Azumarill and Gyarados. Spikes should be used on switches that Chesnaught forces with its sheer bulk, but be wary of Defog and Rapid Spin. Instead, take advantage of these switches by using Leech Seed once more. Drain Punch should be used whenever Chesnaught can get a chance to attack, as it deals damage and gives Chesnaught some health back. When facing a boosted enemy that Chesnaught can significantly damage, such as Bisharp, don't waste your time with Leech Seed or Spikes, as using them causes Chesnaught to take unnecessary damage; go for the KO with Drain Punch. Chesnaught hates status, so try to keep it free of these afflictions. Be wary of special attackers and don't let Chesnaught stay in for long in unfavorable situations. Team Options Chansey can heal status, provide good defensive synergy, and contribute Wish support. Heatran covers all of Chesnaught's defensive weaknesses, while Chesnaught covers Heatran's weaknesses to Ground and Water. In addition, Heatran's special bulk and Chesnaught's physical bulk complement each other. Heatran can also set up Stealth Rock to weaken Flying-types and continually shuffle foes with Roar. Slowbro and Slowking work well with Chesnaught as well, although Slowking has special bulk to complement Chesnaught's physical bulk and has access to Dragon Tail for synergy with entry hazards. Rotom-W provides Chesnaught with some switch-in opportunities while covering its weaknesses as well; Rotom-W's weakness to Grass is covered by Chesnaught. Rotom-H can also fit this role. Spinblockers can be valuable to Chesnaught because having its Spikes removed by Rapid Spin would reduce its effectiveness.

Moves Spikes takes advantage of Chesnaught's bulk to set up multiple layers. Taunt stops opposing Pokemon from using a variety of support moves, including Defog, entry hazard moves of their own, Wish, status moves, and setup. The third moveslot is up to preference. Leech Seed gets more passive recovery while wearing foes down, and Synthesis gives Chesnaught a method of reliable recovery. Roar prevents Chesnaught from being setup fodder for faster Pokemon, especially Substitute users, but limits Chesnaught's recovery to just Leftovers. On the last slot, Drain Punch is a good reliable Fighting-type STAB move that helps Chesnaught regain some HP lost. For more power, Wood Hammer is a fine option as a Grass-type STAB move at the cost of some recoil damage. Set Details 172 Speed EVs are used to outspeed and Taunt uninvested Cresselia, Suicune, and Gligar, preventing the former two from setting up and the last from using Defog or Stealth Rock. It also stops all three of the aforementioned Pokemon from recovering back any HP lost. HP is then maxed out, and the remaining EVs are invested into Defense to still maintain good physical bulk. An alternative EV spread of 252 HP / 164 Def / 92 Spe can be used to outspeed up to uninvested Florges while still outspeeding standard Jellicent, Vaporeon, Umbreon, and Alomomola. Speed can be further invested in to outspeed specially defensive Roserade and defensive Arcanine, requiring 228 and 252 Speed EVs, respectively. A Jolly nature with 228 Speed EVs can also be utilized to outspeed 24 Speed Tentacruel. Leftovers is run to give more passive recovery, which is especially effective if you are running Leech Seed. Bulletproof is chosen to grant immunity to moves such as Shadow Ball and Sludge Bomb that Chesnaught would normally not appreciate getting hit by. Usage Tips Try setting up Spikes or go for a Leech Seed on predicted switches to wear opposing Pokemon down. Use Synthesis to recover when Chesnaught does not have a lot of HP to avoid being worn down. If you choose to run Roar, use it on switches to fast Defog and Rapid Spin users such as Crobat and Tentacruel, respectively, to prevent entry hazard removal, as Taunt from Chesnaught cannot deal with these. Also, try to avoid revealing Taunt too early. It is best to use it when the foe is low on HP and needs to recover, or if setting up entry hazards or Defogging is an extremely obvious move. Team Options Bulky Water-types such as Suicune and Vaporeon can take Fire- and Ice-type attacks for Chesnaught. Vaporeon in particular is a good cleric to get rid of Chesnaught's status ailments, but other clerics such as Florges and Umbreon also work as partners. Tentacruel has relatively good synergy with Chesnaught, is able to set up Toxic Spikes, and can Rapid Spin away opposing entry hazards. Both have to be careful of strong Psychic-type attacks, though. A teammate that can handle fast Defog users, particularly Crobat, would be handy, as Crobat can easily threaten Chesnaught out. Rhyperior is a good partner for that reason and is also able to set up Stealth Rock alongside Chesnaught's Spikes. Setup sweepers such as Lucario appreciate Chesnaught's Spikes-stacking and prevention of a slow Defog. They also benefit from walls being unable to recover back any HP lost.

Moves Spikes take advantage of Chesnaught's bulk to set up entry hazards. Leech Seed gives additional passive recovery while wearing opposing Pokemon down. If you would rather opt for a more reliable form of recovery, Synthesis is your best option. Spiky Shield damages foes that try to hit Chesnaught physically and allows you to scout for what the opposing Pokemon is going to do and gain more Leftovers and Leech Seed recovery. Roar can be run over Spiky Shield to prevent Chesnaught from being setup fodder for certain Pokemon, especially those that typically carry Substitute. The last moveslot depends on which offensive move you prefer. Drain Punch is a reliable Fighting-type STAB move that also gets more recovery, while Wood Hammer is a more powerful Grass-type STAB move with the drawback of recoil damage. Finally, Taunt is a viable option that prevents slower Pokemon such as Empoleon and Swampert from setting up Stealth Rock and prevents Empoleon from Defogging away your entry hazards. It also stops Trevenant from burning Chesnaught and Blissey from using any of its support moves. Set Details Maximum HP and Special Defense EVs with a Careful nature maximize Chesnaught's special bulk, giving it good mixed defenses, which allows it to more effectively check Hydreigon, Mega Blastoise, Roserade, and Mega Ampharos. Leftovers gives Chesnaught passive recovery, especially in conjunction with Spiky Shield and Leech Seed if you choose to run them. Always run Bulletproof to allow Chesnaught to take on more threats. Usage Tips Try to set up Spikes or go for a Leech Seed on predicted switches to wear opposing Pokemon down. Use Synthesis to recover when at low HP to avoid being worn down. Use Spiky Shield at times to scout for what move the opposing Pokemon is going to use, which helps against Choice-locked Pokemon. Use Roar on predicted switches into Defoggers such as Crobat and Gligar to prevent them from Defogging for free. Using it against strong special attackers such as Chandelure as they come in is a good idea as well. Note that even with maximum HP and Special Defense investment, Chesnaught is not going to appreciate taking really powerful special hits, so avoid switching it directly into moves such as a Life Orb Hydreigon's Draco Meteor or a Chandelure, unless it is Choice-locked into anything but a Fire-type move. Team Options Bulky Water-types such as Suicune and Vaporeon can take Fire- and Ice-type attacks for Chesnaught. Vaporeon in particular is a good cleric to get rid of Chesnaught's status ailments, but you can also use other clerics such as Florges and Umbreon. Tentacruel has relatively good synergy with Chesnaught, is able to set up Toxic Spikes, and can Rapid Spin away opposing entry hazards. Both have to be careful of strong Psychic-type attacks, though.

Moves Spikes is very important, as it is one of the main reasons to use Chesnaught. It takes advantage of Chesnaught's bulk to set up entry hazards. The second moveslot is a toss-up between two forms of recovery. Leech Seed gives more passive recovery while wearing foes down. Synthesis, on the other hand, gives Chesnaught a method of reliable recovery. Spiky Shield allows you to scout for what the opposing Pokemon is going to do as well as gain more Leftovers and Leech Seed recovery. This also damages foes that try to hit Chesnaught physically. An option over Spiky Shield is Roar, which prevents Chesnaught from being setup fodder for some Pokemon, especially those that typically carry Substitute. The last moveslot depends on which offensive move you prefer. You could run Drain Punch for a reliable Fighting-type STAB move that also gets more recovery, or you could opt for Wood Hammer, a more powerful Grass-type STAB move with the drawback of recoil damage. Finally, Taunt is a viable option that prevents slower Pokemon such as Empoleon and Swampert from getting Stealth Rock up as well as preventing Empoleon from Defogging away your entry hazards. It also stops Trevenant from burning Chesnaught and Blissey from using any of its support moves. Set Details Maximum HP and Defense EVs with an Impish nature maximize Chesnaught's physical bulk, taking advantage of its naturally high Defense stat. Leftovers is run to give more passive recovery, especially in conjunction with Spiky Shield and Leech Seed should you choose to run them. Rocky Helmet is also a good item, as it allows Chesnaught to punish physical attackers that it switches into. Bulletproof should be run 100% of the time, as it allows Chesnaught to take on Pokemon that would normally threaten it, such as Roserade without Hidden Power Fire. Usage Tips Try going for Spikes or a Leech Seed on predicted switches to gradually wear the opponent's Pokemon down. If you choose to run Synthesis, use it whenever Chesnaught is getting low on HP so that it can constantly take on physical attackers and set up more layers of Spikes. Use Spiky Shield at times to scout what the foe is going to do, especially those that run a Choice item. If you are able to predict a switch into a Pokemon that is relatively safe such as a Crobat or a Gligar, use Roar to rack up entry hazard damage on opposing Pokemon while not allowing them to Defog for free. It also can be used against Pokemon such as Suicune that try to use Chesnaught as setup fodder. Do note that although Chesnaught is very physically bulky, it can get worn down easily by strong physical attacks such as Mienshao's High Jump Kick, especially if you are not running Synthesis. Team Options Empoleon is a good partner, as it can set up Stealth Rock while Chesnaught sets up Spikes. It also takes Psychic-, Flying- and Poison-type moves that are aimed at Chesnaught. Clerics such as Florges, Vaporeon, and Blissey can help get rid of the status ailments that Chesnaught typically has trouble with while at the same time sponging special hits that target Chesnaught's low Special Defense stat. If you choose not to run Synthesis, Chesnaught is easily worn down, so a Rapid Spin user is appreciated to get rid of entry hazards on your side of the field.
