It should be noted that Crobat does not have the power to sweep through healthy teams by itself, so it appreciates being paired with powerful attackers that can weaken the opposing team to the point where Crobat can use its speed to clean up. This set's EVs give Crobat enough Speed to outrun all base 115 Speed Pokemon, such as Azelf, allow it to OHKO 0/0 Scrafty with Stealth Rock damage factored in, prevent a beneficial Download boost for opposing Porygon2 and Porygon-Z, and the remainder get put in HP to optimize Crobat's bulk. The given spread is not set in stone though; you can always play around with it to suit your team's needs. For example, a bulkier spread of 252 HP / 116 Atk / 4 SpD / 136 Spe sacrifices Crobat's ability to OHKO 0/0 Scrafty in exchange for more bulk, while a stronger spread of 136 HP / 232 Atk / 4 SpD / 136 Spe guarantees the 2HKO on +1 Bulk Up Scrafty. Leftovers is an option over Black Sludge if you're worried about Crobat being on the receiving end of a Trick and then having another member of your team end up with the Black Sludge. Although it's very unlikely that the Trick user will have the opportunity to use it twice, so Black Sludge is usually the better choice. Hypnosis is also an option in the fourth moveslot, as it can potentially shut down one of Crobat's counters, especially when you consider the BW sleep mechanics. However, this option is generally unappealing because of its extremely shaky accuracy. Rapid Spin support from Blastoise, which can tank Ice-type moves while luring out Grass-types for Crobat to switch in on, is very much appreciated due to Crobat's weakness to Stealth Rock. As this set is completely walled by Steel-types, having a partner who can take advantage of them is a very good idea. One such partner would be Victini, which can easily come in on most Steel-types and blast them with its Fire-type STAB move of choice.

Team Options Crobat generally enjoys teammates who can take advantage of its hard answers either through Pursuit or strong attacks. It additionally loves Rapid Spin support to remove Stealth Rock. Choice Band Tyranitar makes a great partner, as it can guarantee a kill on Choice Scarf Rotom-A with Pursuit and do significant damage to many of Crobat’s other checks, such as Zapdos and Heatran. In return, Crobat can easily handle Fighting-types that threaten Tyranitar, such as Breloom and Lucario. Rapid Spinning greatly helps Crobat, as taking 25% of health adds up in the long term. Starmie and Forretress are excellent choices. Forretress as well as Skarmory can set up Spikes, as Crobat can force a lot of switches with Taunt and U-turn. Crobat also enjoys Knock Off support, especially on Steel-types such as Jirachi, Heatran, and Skarmory so it can damage them with Brave Bird and Super Fang. Clefable is an excellent choice and can take on Zapdos and Rotom-A. Other strong defensive teammates such as Jirachi, Latias, and Hippowdon appreciate Crobat's ability against more defensive teams and can take on Pokemon it does not enjoy dealing with.

Rest is an option here if you don't want to rely on your opponent to put Crobat to sleep, but it will then be using Rest instead of Whirlwind 50% of the time. Maximize Speed and HP, and put the leftovers in Defense or Special Defense; it won't matter much.

Sludge Bomb's nice 30% chance to cause poison allows Crobat to hurt its common opponents, such as Tyranitar, even if you mispredict. Hidden Power Fighting requires an imperfect Speed IV, which may cause you to lose the tie against opposing Crobat, so you'll have to use Hidden Power Ground if that's important. Maximize Attack, and hit at least 374 Speed to outspeed Alakazam and Sceptile. The rest of the EVs should go into Crobat's HP.

Set Description This set takes advantage of Crobat's high Speed and access to Haze to let it check dangerous setup sweepers. Haze is one of Crobat's best attributes, removing boosts from Pokemon such as Scyther, Pinsir, and Sandslash. Wing Attack is Crobat's most reliable source of damage and can 3HKO Scyther, Victreebel, Pinsir, and Bellossom. Thief can hurt the longevity of bulky Pokemon such as Ampharos, Hypno, and Nidoqueen that might try to switch in and threaten Crobat. Alternatively, Toxic has synergy with Spikes and can force a bulky Pokemon to use Rest. Confuse Ray has synergy with Crobat's high Speed and is its best way of making progress against bulkier Pokemon. Hidden Power Ground deals more damage to Pokemon such as Nidoqueen, Electabuzz, and Magneton on the switch, and it has synergy with Toxic because it hits most Toxic-immune Pokemon. Lastly, Rest is helpful for keeping Crobat healthy throughout a game; it's most useful when paired with a teammate that has Heal Bell, although Rest can let Scyther actually break through Crobat while it's asleep. Team Options Crobat is best used on defensive teams for its ability to check dangerous threats. Heal Bell support from Chansey or Granbull can remove sleep from Rest or paralysis that Crobat may have sustained. Pokemon that can deal with Electric-type moves such as Nidoqueen, Piloswine, and Hypno can be useful teammates when dealing with Pokemon such as Electabuzz and Pikachu. Hypno appreciates Crobat countering Scyther and is also useful for combating Psychic-types and providing Light Screen or Reflect support. Spikes support from Qwilfish is useful for chipping opposing Pokemon and has synergy with Crobat's Thief. Magneton and Ampharos help against Electric-types such as Electabuzz and Pikachu and can take on bulky Water-types such as Slowbro and Slowking. Blastoise is also found on defensive teams and can deal with Pokemon that can threaten Crobat, such as Omastar and Nidoqueen, while also being a decent check to Kabutops.
