While Farfetch'd doesn't find many opportunities to set up, Swords Dance can double its Attack, allowing it to deal much more damage to its foes. Brave Bird is Farfetch'd's strongest STAB move, and it can deal a lot of damage to frailer foes, but the recoil cuts Farfetch'd's health. Leaf Blade allows Farfetch'd to threaten Pokemon that resist Brave Bird, such as Probopass and Stunfisk, while also sporting a very high critical hit chance thanks to Stick. Quick Attack allows Farfetch'd to pick off weakened foes, especially after an Attack boost from Swords Dance or Defiant.
Set Details
This EV spread aims to maximize Farfetch'd's offensive capabilities. An Adamant nature along with maximum Attack investment gives Farfetch'd the power to hit as hard as possible, while maximum Speed investment is helpful in order to outspeed Pokemon such as Roselia. Farfetch'd can discourage the use of Defog thanks to Defiant, which gives it a +2 Attack boost if it switches into Defog. Stick is an item exclusive to Farfetch'd that boosts its critical hit ratio, giving moves such as Leaf Blade a very high chance for a critical hit. Life Orb can also be used to reliably deal more damage, but it easily wears down Farfetch'd and comes at the cost of its high critical hit ratio.
Usage Tips
Farfetch'd is extremely frail, so it shouldn't be switched into strong attacks from Pokemon such as Stoutland and Monferno. Instead, it should be safely brought into battle with the help of a slower Volt Switch or U-turn from Pokemon such as Probopass and Pelipper. Farfetch'd can be switched into Defoggers such as Pelipper and Vibrava to gain a +2 Attack boost thanks to Defiant, but it should be wary of taking a hit instead. If a foe is low on health, Farfetch'd can be brought in to revenge kill it with Quick Attack. If Farfetch'd is facing a foe that can't deal much damage to it, such as Gogoat, it can set up a Swords Dance in order to sweep or punch a hole in the opposing team. Farfetch'd should mainly be used as a late-game sweeper, though it can also be brought in mid-game to gain a boost from Defog or revenge kill a foe with Quick Attack; it can also set up on a forced switch against foes such as Roselia and Vibrava.
Team Options
Farfetch'd best fits on offensive teams, mainly ones that make use of a lot of entry hazards, as it can discourage the use of Defog and sweep late-game. Stealth Rock, Spikes, and Toxic Spikes from Pokemon such as Bronzor and Roselia are helpful to wear down Farfetch'd's checks, as well as break opposing Sturdy and Focus Sash. Sticky Web users such as Smeargle and Kricketune work wonders for Farfetch'd, as Sticky Web can slow down the foe, helping Farfetch'd outspeed faster Pokemon such as Ninetales and Simipour; all entry hazards are also helpful for baiting the use of Defog, which gives Farfetch'd a +2 Attack boost. Farfetch'd appreciates wallbreakers such as Ursaring and Stoutland, as they can weaken Farfetch'd's checks, making it easier to sweep. Slow users of Volt Switch and U-turn, such as Probopass and Pelipper, make for good partners, as they can get Farfetch'd into battle safely. Probopass is also able to trap opposing Probopass, which would otherwise wall Farfetch'd. Ground-types such as Golem and Gabite are able to take on Electric- and Rock-types, which are some of the most common Pokemon Farfetch'd is weak to. Because Farfetch'd is weak to Stealth Rock, it appreciates entry hazard control from Pokemon such as Pelipper and Armaldo. Healing Wish support from Pokemon such as Clefairy and Mr. Mime is very helpful in reviving Farfetch'd for the late-game, as it can be quickly worn down by Stealth Rock damage as well as recoil from Brave Bird.
