It can also run Stealth Rock, but its an incredibly lackluster Stealth Rock setter, as it has terrible matchups against common Defoggers, notably Corviknight, Kartana, and Tapu Fini. U-turn gives Gliscor a reliable way to keep up momentum by pivoting in teammates like Weavile, Heatran, and Mega Charizard Y. Meanwhile, Knock Off cripples foes such as Corviknight, Landorus-T, and Rotom-W; notably on Stealth Rock variants, Knock Off lets Gliscor remove Tapu Fini's Leftovers, which lets it consistently outlast and beat it. Toxic is an option to cripple Slowbro, Mega Latias, and Hydreigon. The listed EV spread lets Gliscor outspeed Timid Heatran, and the Defense investment allows it to live an unboosted Mega Mawile's Sucker Punch after Play Rough. An alternative spread of 244 HP / 52 Def / 188 SpD / 24 Spe allows it to still outspeed Modest Heatran and deal with foes like Tapu Koko, Magnezone, and Modest Heatran more comfortably. Utility Gliscor primarily fits on balance teams that appreciate the role compression it offers. Teammates like Kyurem, Charizard-Y, and Weavile greatly appreciate its ability to reliably clear entry hazards. Steel-types like Ferrothorn, Mega Scizor, and Melmetal are good teammates, as they're able to pivot into Weavile, Kyurem, Tangrowth, Kartana, and Mega Latias for Gliscor. Since Gliscor is threatend by common Water-types like Ash-Greninja, Manaphy, and Mega Gyarados, Pokemon that resist Water like Toxapex, Mega Latias, and Hydreigon make for stellar teammates. Threatening wallbreakers such as Kyurem, Tapu Lele, and Mega Medicham appreciate the pivoting support Gliscor brings. Other pivots such as Tapu Koko, Mega Lopunny, and Magnezone can also create VoltTurn cores with Gliscor. Lastly, Stealth Rock variants appreciate teammates like Magnezone, Heatran, and Serperior that can take advantage of Defoggers like Corviknight, Kartana, and Tapu Fini that beat it.

Gliscor sports a great typing, reliable recovery, and an amazing ability in Poison Heal, which allows it to ignore the effects of status afflictions and the omnipresent Knock Off once it is activated. Said traits make Gliscor a very resilient wincon in National Dex, capable of outlasting many Pokemon that can pressure it offensively, such as Weavile, Kyurem, and Ash-Greninja. These characteristics also allow it to check huge threats in Heatran, Mega Mawile, and Mega Tyranitar, take advantage of defensive staples such as Toxapex, Zapdos lacking Hidden Power Ice, and bulky Landorus-T, and serve as a Volt Switch blocker and source of Ground immunity. Swords Dance uses the abundance of free turns Gliscor gets against passive Pokemon to boost its average Attack stat to dangerous levels. Roost helps Gliscor in continuously checking strong attackers such as Heatran and Mega Tyranitar, allows it to shrug off any damage passive Pokemon may cause, and minimizes Hidden Power Ice damage from Landorus-T. Facade is a good coverage option, nailing common switch-ins to Earthquake such as Landorus-T and Zapdos. The given EV spread allows Gliscor to outspeed Modest Heatran with a Jolly nature and heal more HP from Poison Heal. 52 Defense EVs are run in order to take a Play Rough into Sucker Punch from Mega Mawile once Poison Heal is in effect. The remaining EVs are dumped into Special Defense to let Gliscor better take on threats such as Heatran and Clefable. 112 Speed EVs can be run instead in order to outspeed the likes of Timid Heatran, Adamant Rillaboom, and Jolly Bisharp, but this noticeably compromises Gliscor's bulk. Gliscor fits best on balance and bulky offense teams that are in need of a wincon capable of taking advantage of Pokemon like Heatran, Zapdos, and Toxapex. As Gliscor forces many switches due to its resiliency paired with its boosting prowess, pairing it with entry hazard-stacking cores of Pokemon like Mega Tyranitar, Clefable, and Ferrothorn is often a good idea, allowing Gliscor to overwhelm offensive checks such as Kyurem, Weavile, and Ash-Greninja. Clefable and Ferrothorn can also provide Knock Off support to remove Heavy-Duty Boots from Slowbro, Zapdos, and Blissey, whereas Mega Tyranitar can Pursuit trap a roadblock to Gliscor in Mega Latias, as well as Weavile and Ash-Greninja locked into Dark-type moves. Even though Gliscor, is immune to Ground, it can be overwhelmed by the likes of Swords Dance Landorus-T, Garchomp, and Excadrill. Pokemon that better limit these threats, such as Corviknight, Ice Beam Slowbro and Mega Latias, and Tangrowth, are useful teammates to have. Revenge killers in the form of Weavile, Ash-Greninja, Mega Lopunny, and Tapu Koko are important to limit the likes of Kyurem and Kartana. A few Steel-types in Curse Mega Scizor, Corviknight, and Skarmory have the typing, bulk, and recovery to take Gliscor on indefinitely. Therefore, Pokemon that can pressure or defeat them, such as Heatran and Magnezone, make for good partners as well. Furthermore, Gliscor can easily fall prey to dangerous offensive threats, particularly Kyurem, Mega Charizard Y, Ash-Greninja, and Weavile. Thus, sturdy counterplay to these, such as Clefable for the former and Toxapex for the latter three, is important. Lastly, as Gliscor is a capable wallbreaker, it benefits late-game cleaners such as Mega Lopunny, Swords Dance Mega Mawile, and Mega Scizor. All of them hugely appreciate Gliscor's ability to take advantage of Toxapex, and in case of the latter two, Heatran as well.

Gliscor is an interesting pick on balanced teams due to the unique role it plays, checking common threats such as Necrozma-DM, defensive Primal Groudon, Arceus-Dark, and Arceus-Fairy while providing solid utility as a status absorber and stallbreaker. Sand Tomb is used to trap walls such as Necrozma-DM, Primal Groudon, Chansey, and Ferrothorn. Roost is necessary to maintain Gliscor's health, which allows it to comfortably trap Necrozma-DM, Primal Groudon, and even Arceus-Dark and Arceus-Fairy. Taunt is used to shut down a trapped Ferrothorn or Chansey and to prevent slower foes like defensive Primal Groudon, Zygarde-C, Giratina, and Ho-Oh from using Rest or Defog. It also forces a trapped Arceus forme to waste its Judgment PP, which lets Gliscor's teammates freely switch in later in the game. Guillotine, while inconsistent, is another interesting choice to make opponents think twice before hard switching in an offensive threat such as Mega Rayquaza, Zacian-C, Yveltal, or Primal Kyogre that can OHKO Gliscor. It also discourages Calm Mind Arceus formes from setting up on it. Gliscor is a fantastic Defogger since it forces out common Stealth Rock users like Necrozma-DM and Primal Groudon. Alternatively, Knock Off may be used to remove crucial items from common switch-ins such as Heavy-Duty Boots from Ho-Oh and Lugia, Leftovers from Ferrothorn, Giratina, and Necrozma-DM, and Life Orb from Mega Rayquaza and Yveltal. Another option on non-Guillotine sets is U-turn, which gives Gliscor the option to swap to an offensive teammate when a passive, untrappable Pokemon like Giratina, Ho-Oh, and Arceus-Water try to switch in. 244 HP maximize Poison Heal recovery, Special Defense is maximized to check Overheat Primal Groudon and support Arceus, and the rest are put in Defense. Gliscor fits best on bulky balance teams. It appreciates specially defensive teammates such as Chansey and Ferrothorn, which check Primal Kyogre, Xerneas, and Ice Beam support Arceus. It is worth noting that Heal Bell Chansey can hinder Gliscor, since Heal Bell forces it to reactivate Toxic Orb. Gliscor is also vulnerable to Zacian-C and Mega Rayquaza, so physical walls like Necrozma-DM and Lugia should be paired with it. In return, Gliscor checks Ho-Oh, provides solid hazard control, and acts as a status absorber. Giratina is an excellent teammate to beat offensive Primal Groudon sets that otherwise break through Gliscor and free up a moveslot by running Defog. Yveltal and Eternatus also threaten Gliscor, so Tyranitar is an excellent teammate for it, and Gliscor covers Tyranitar's weakness to Primal Groudon and Necrozma-DM in return. Entry hazard support from Swords Dance Primal Groudon is greatly appreciated to hinder constant switching in and out from Pokemon Gliscor cannot trap, such as Mega Sableye, Giratina, and Ho-Oh. Lastly, offensive teammates such as Zacian-C, Calm Mind Arceus formes, Mega Rayquaza, Xerneas, and Eternatus greatly benefit from Gliscor's ability to lure in and trap defensive walls, making way for them to sweep late-game.

Moves Defog gives Gliscor a means to clear the field of Stealth Rock. Earthquake is Gliscor's only attack, allowing it to take on weakened Pokemon such as Chansey and OHKO Pokemon such as Lucario. Roost allows Gliscor to stay healthy through the match, allowing it to constantly switch into weak attacks. Taunt makes Gliscor an excellent stallbreaker alongside Roost, preventing walls like Chansey from recovering off damage while slowly wearing them down with Earthquake. Set Details 244 HP and 20 Def EVs allow Gliscor to take Choice Band Victini's V-create and maximize the recovery it gets from Poison Heal. 120 Speed EVs alongside a Jolly nature allow Gliscor to outspeed Pokemon up to Heatran and Jolly Diggersby. The rest is invested into Special Defense to maximize its ability to switch into special attacks, such as Choice Scarf Latios's Draco Meteor. Toxic Orb restores Gliscor's health via Poison Heal allowing it to function as a wall better and act as a status absorber for the team. Gliscor can also run a bulkier spread with 56 Speed EVs to still outspeed Pokemon such as Adamant Bisharp, with the rest dumped into Special Defense alongside a Careful nature to almost always avoid a 2HKO from Mega Diancie's Moonblast. However, Flying teams appreciate Gliscor's ability to outspeed Heatran. Usage Tips Since Gliscor relies on Poison Heal to stay healthy through the game, you should try to position yourself where Gliscor can safely switch in and get badly poisoned through Toxic Orb. Once poisoned, Gliscor can act as a status absorber and should be switched into status moves such as Celesteela's Toxic and Mega Sableye's Will-O-Wisp. However, Gliscor should not be directly switched into any Pokemon that could potentially cripple it with a burn before it has been poisoned, as that invalidates Gliscor. Similarly, it is important to not allow its item to be removed with Knock Off until after it has been badly poisoned. After getting badly poisoned, Gliscor should be used to switch into weaker Knock Off attacks from Pokemon such as Mew and Mega Sableye, and it should also use the free switch in as an opportunity to clear Stealth Rock with Defog. Gliscor should constantly be kept as healthy as possible, so it can switch into attacks such as Victini's V-create. Look for opportunities to use Taunt to prevent other walls such as Chansey and Cradily from recovering off damage by removing their ability to recover or set up Stealth Rock. Due to Gliscor's Electric immunity, it should be switched into Electric-type attackers such as Zapdos than can't threaten it. Gliscor should absolutely be preserved in the Electric matchup, as it not only provides an immunity against their STAB moves but also acts as a great late-game wincon, being able to take on attackers such as Zeraora and Alolan Raichu. Team Options All of its teammates appreciate the Electric-type immunity Gliscor provides, as well as its ability to absorb status and switch into Knock Off after it has been poisoned and clear entry hazards with Defog. Celesteela can take on troublesome Ice-types such as Weavile and Alolan Ninetales for Gliscor by providing it with neutrality to the type while also being able to OHKO them with Heavy Slam. Mega Aerodactyl and Choice Scarf Landorus-T help keep faster foes in check, being able to outspeed threatening Pokemon such as Tapu Koko and Alolan Raichu outside of Electric Terrain while also being able to set Stealth Rock. Mega Aerodactyl also can Pursuit trap threats such as Victini for Gliscor, alleviating some pressure off it. Mantine provides a neutrality to Ice-type attacks and immunity to Water-type attacks, allowing it to easily switch into Pokemon that threaten Gliscor such as Greninja. It also forms the best Defog core with Gliscor, as they can clear hazards against every type due to their strong defensive synergy, as well as alleviating the pressure for Gliscor to deal with special attackers like the aforementioned Latios. Zapdos appreciates Gliscor to act as the team's Defogger, allowing it to run better sets such as SubToxic. Gliscor in return appreciates Zapdos's ability to cripple walls such as Hippowdon with Toxic, allowing it to more effectively stallbreak alongside Taunt. Tornadus-T can take on Pokemon that Gliscor struggles against such as Mega Venusaur thanks to its strong Flying-type STAB coverage. It can also bring in Gliscor safely with U-turn against Pokemon it can wall such as Zapdos, allowing it to recover off damage with Roost or Defog with ease. Mega Charizard Y can break past defensive walls such as Mega Venusaur, which Gliscor can struggle to beat even with access to Taunt. It can also break past Ground- and Water-type Pokemon such as Swampert and Hippowdon with Solar Beam.

Moves Earthquake is Gliscor's strongest and only STAB move, being able to deal consistent damage to threats that are not immune to it. Roost allows Gliscor to keep itself healthy so it can effectively switch into attacks throughout the battle. Taunt helps Gliscor to stallbreak, preventing passive walls like Skarmory from healing themselves or laying entry hazards. Knock Off provides utility by removing items such as Dragonite's Choice Band and Chansey's Eviolite so they can be dealt with more easily. It also can hit key Ground-immune targets like Celesteela and Air Balloon Heatran. Set Details 244 HP EVs in conjunction with 32 Defense EVs allow Gliscor to always avoid a 2HKO from Choice Scarf Tapu Bulu's Horn Leech after Stealth Rock while also maximizing its recovery from Poison Heal. 112 Speed EVs with a Jolly nature let Gliscor outspeed threats such as Adamant Diggersby and Timid Heatran, letting it check them more effectively. The remaining EVs are put into Special Defense to take special hits such as Latios's Draco Meteor more easily. Alternatively, more EVs can be moved from Special Defense to Speed to hit certain benchmarks, such as 120 Speed to outspeed Jolly Diggersby, and 176 Speed to outspeed Nidoking and Suicune. Toxic Orb combined with Poison Heal allows Gliscor to heal 1/8 of its health per turn while also making it immune to harmful status after it has activated. Usage Tips Gliscor should be brought in on passive walls like Celesteela and proceed to use Taunt to prevent them from healing and slowly whittle them down. It's important to be careful before Gliscor's Toxic Orb has activated to avoid getting it burned by Will-O-Wisp or Scald users such as Mega Sableye and Swampert, respectively. This risk can be avoided if Gliscor comes via a double switch when your opponent is likely to switch out. Once it is poisoned, Gliscor can effectively be used as a status absorber for the team, being able to switch into Toxic or Will-O-Wisp aimed for a teammate like Gastrodon. Gliscor also makes for a good pivot into Knock Off due to it not needing Toxic Orb after it has activated. Since opponents might try to predict Gliscor using Taunt and directly bring in an offensive check like Greninja, it is sometimes worthwhile to try to predict this and attack them on the switch in. Knock Off is a good move to spam early-game, as removing Leftovers or Eviolite from defensive walls like Staraptor and Chansey makes them easier to wear down and break past for Gliscor's teammates. Taunt can sometimes allow Gliscor to stall out the PP of walls with one attacking move, such as Ferrothorn, forcing them to use Struggle. However, Gliscor can also be stalled out of Taunt PP if the opponent switches between their Pokemon repeatedly and Stealth Rock is not up. Team Options Gliscor's decent bulk and ability to take advantage of and shut down passive walls let it fit onto many Ground teams. Gastrodon and Seismitoad make for great defensive partners due to their typing and abilities granting them an Ice-neutrality and a Water immunity, covering both of Gliscor's weaknesses. Gastrodon can reliably switch into threats like Choice Specs Keldeo and Choice Scarf Greninja thanks to Recover, while Seismitoad has the ability to outspeed and KO Belly Drum Azumarill. In exchange, Gliscor can switch into Toxic from walls like Chansey as well as take on Grass-types like Cradily. Landorus is a good offensive partner for Gliscor that is able to deal with Pokemon immune to Ground-type attacks with Gravity, as well as outpace threats such as Kyurem-B. In return, Gliscor can weaken special walls that give it trouble such as Mantine. Garchomp and Mega Garchomp are powerful wallbreakers that can use Swords Dance to break foes like Swampert. With Gliscor supporting them by relieving pressure from them dealing with walls, they can break the majority of balanced cores in the metagame. Mega Garchomp also can choose to run a mixed wallbreaking set that can threaten types like Water and Flying with its broad coverage, being able to hit Mantine with Stone Edge and Celesteela with Fire Blast. Excadrill with Hippowdon to provide Sand Stream support forms a core that can revenge kill and clean weakened threats such as Keldeo while also providing entry hazards and phazing support. In exchange, Gliscor can deal with bulky Flying-types such as Staraptor, which can otherwise can switch into both Hippowdon and Excadrill. Excadrill can also check Ice-types like Alolan Ninetales with a STAB Iron Head. Mega Steelix serves as a good defensive partner for Gliscor, boasting great mixed bulk and a valuable Ice-neutrality that allow it to take on huge threats like Belly Drum Azumarill, Tapu Bulu, and Kyurem-B, as well as being able to serve as a wincon with Curse to threaten types like Fairy and Dragon. Gliscor can support it by dealing with its checks such as Zapdos. Dugtrio can trap huge threats to Gliscor such as Greninja and Kyurem-B thanks to Arena Trap and a Focus Sash. Gliscor's Taunt helps make this easier by preventing hazards from common setters such as Ferrothorn. Mamoswine is a powerful wallbreaker that appreciates Gliscor's ability to soften up teams to make switching into it more difficult. In return, it provides a unique Ice-type resistance for Ground-teams as well as strong priority Ice Shard to pick off threats like Hydreigon and Tapu Bulu and Icicle Crash to threaten Flying teams.

Moves Earthquake is a powerful STAB move even without investment, allowing Gliscor to chunk away at foes without relying on stalling the foe. Substitute makes Gliscor very annoying to deal with for teams that lack a proper countermeasure, since the combination of Substitute, Protect, and Poison Heal allow it to reliably stall out any foe it can hit with Toxic. Protect also generally allows Gliscor to safely stall out a turn for recovery or Toxic damage, though powerful setup sweepers can take advantage of predictable Protects. Guillotine allows Gliscor to try to instantly remove a passive foe that can't reliably break its Substitute and punish switches to an otherwise reliable check. It can also be used to try and fish for a surprise KO against a dangerous foe if Gliscor is safely behind a Substitute. Toxic is a lower-risk alternative to Guillotine that allows Gliscor to stall foes more self-sufficiently, though this comes at the cost of being walled by defensive foes that are immune to Toxic such as Mega Venusaur, Ferrothorn, and Celesteela, which makes it harder to stallbreak. Set Details The given EV spread with a Jolly nature makes Gliscor as fast as possible, allowing it to Substitute stall as many foes as possible while also optimizing Poison Heal recovery. The remaining EVs are placed into Special Defense to give Gliscor some extra bulk against a stray Hidden Power Ice, though these EVs can also be placed elsewhere if extra power, physical bulk, or speed is desired. Toxic Orb and Poison Heal are also necessary, as Gliscor needs these in order to effectively stall out foes. Usage Tips This Gliscor is often used on stall teams in order to stallbreak other annoying passive threats, such as Celesteela and Mega Venusaur. This means Gliscor will ideally be brought against other slow and passive teams in order to take advantage of its Speed to Substitute stall or fish for Guillotine hits. If a team is filled with many powerful wallbreakers or Pokemon that can bypass Substitute via multi-hit or sound moves, Gliscor is typically best left on the bench. However, Gliscor can still be effective against more offensive teams if you can bring it in against a passive foe or something that it forces out, such as Landorus-T or Hippowdon. If Gliscor can get a free turn to use Substitute, faster foes can also struggle to break Gliscor as it tries to land a Toxic or Guillotine and stall out on appropriate turns. Keep in mind that this Gliscor set is not very bulky overall, so being proactive with Protect and Substitute is important. If Gliscor can't safely heal enough damage in between Substitute turns and attempting to break through a foe, try to find an opportunity to safely switch out with enough HP in case it needs to come back in later. Team Options Toxapex is a primary consideration for Gliscor's teammates, since the two of them can comfortably switch into most of each other's weaknesses, though other bulky Water-types such as Tapu Fini are similarly effective for this role. Normal-types such as Snorlax, Chansey, and Porygon2 also benefit from having a teammate that can safely switch into Fighting-type attacks and are bulky enough to handle Water- and Ice-type attacks aimed at Gliscor. Steel-types such as Mega Metagross and Skarmory also handle Ice-type moves aimed at Gliscor and pair well with the aforementioned Water-type as well. This Gliscor set fits particularly well on stall teams that may be lacking in tools to break through opposing stall teams or similarly bulky teams, which may be forced to risk losing something to Guillotine if they're too passive. However, this Gliscor can still function outside of stall teams as long as it has bulky teammates to fall back on to make up for the lack of bulk on this set.

Moves Earthquake is Gliscor's primary means of dealing damage, hitting decently hard even with minimal Attack investment. Roost allows Gliscor to heal off a huge amount of damage in combination with Poison Heal, making it very resilient. Protect allows Gliscor to stall out a turn for Poison Heal and extra Toxic damage while avoiding taking an extra hit. However, Rock Tomb can provide useful speed control so that Gliscor can use Roost first against faster foes, and it also lets Gliscor threaten Volcarona and Mega Charizard Y without relying on Guillotine. Running Guillotine allows Gliscor to break through passive foes that are immune to Toxic or fish for an immediate OHKO and is typically the ideal stallbreaking tool despite its low PP and accuracy. Toxic can be used instead of Guillotine, though, if the consistency is desired and Toxic support cannot be fit elsewhere on the team. Running both moves is also an option but it comes at the cost of Protect or Rock Tomb, which can be risky without proper support. Set Details The given EV spread optimizes Poison Heal recovery while giving Gliscor the maximum possible special bulk with a Careful nature, with the leftover EVs being placed into Attack to give Earthquake some extra power, which is useful for securing KOs against threats such as Mega Gengar and Tapu Koko. In particular, this specially defensive spread allows Gliscor to take on powerful special attackers such as Volcarona, Mega Gengar, and Firium Z Rotom-Heat as well as weaker Hidden Power Ice users such as Tapu Koko. The Attack EVs can also be placed in Speed, though this is less useful if Rock Tomb isn't being used, since Gliscor doesn't outspeed many relevant threats with those Speed EVs. Toxic Orb is necessary in order to activate Poison Heal consistently, which is a crucial part of how Gliscor functions. Usage Tips Gliscor relies heavily on Poison Heal, so making sure it can get Toxic Orb to activate safely is crucial. Leading with Gliscor or sending it in against a foe that can't threaten it is ideal for this, especially since this can give Gliscor a free turn to use Guillotine against a potential switch-in. Even with heavy defensive investment Gliscor can be worn down quickly due to its short list of resistances, so playing defensively and using Roost to stay healthy should always be a priority. However, Gliscor also doesn't want to stay in against powerful wallbreakers that haven't been hit with Toxic since this can force it into a stalemate with Roost, so be proactive with switching it out against strong wallbreakers and only bringing it in against foes it can easily take advantage of, such as Landorus-T or Heatran. Likewise, Guillotine is primarily meant to break through passive foes more quickly rather than snag a surprise kill, so avoid fishing for a lucky hit against a powerful foe unless you have no other choice. Team Options Gliscor wants teammates such as Toxapex and Tapu Fini, which can comfortably deal with Ice- and Water-type attacks, though note that the latter's Misty Terrain can clash with Gliscor if it's running Toxic. Toxapex in particular is a popular teammate that also appreciates Gliscor's Electric- and Ground-type immunities and can reliably keep up switching in longer battles due to Regenerator. These two are often paired with Mega Metagross on bulky offense teams due to the excellent defensive backbone this trio forms without becoming too passive. Gliscor can just as easily be used on stall teams with the likes of Chansey and Skarmory as well, though this specially defensive set is most commonly used on bulky offense teams. Bulky Normal-types such as Porygon2 and Snorlax also appreciate Gliscor's Fighting-type resistance and can also shrug off most common Water- and Ice-type moves due to their high Special Defense.

Moves In combination with Toxic Orb and Poison Heal, Gliscor can effectively stall out the foe. Protect allows Gliscor to scout the foe and activate Toxic Orb after a turn passes. Substitute enables Gliscor to protect itself from status and from any physical attackers that can't break its Substitute. Poison Heal offsets the health loss of Substitute after two turns, meaning Gliscor hasn't lost any health after using the combination of the two. Albeit uninvested, Earthquake hits common Pokemon that are weak to it, such as Mega Charizard X, Mega Gengar, Mega Blaziken, Heatran, and Aegislash, for decent damage. Guillotine, despite being highly inaccurate, hits what Earthquake cannot. Its main use is to OHKO non-Sturdy users, non-Ghost-type Levitate users, and Flying-type Pokemon, as well as bulkier Pokemon such as Mega Kangaskhan, Chansey, Blissey, and Suicune. Toxic can be used over Guillotine, as it is more reliable for beating defensive Pokemon, but Guillotine's ability to OHKO foes on the spot is highly preferred. Set Details 212 EVs are invested into Speed to allow Gliscor to outspeed maximum Speed Heatran. 228 HP EVs with an Impish nature increase Gliscor's physical bulk, allowing it to take many hits from other physical attackers and assist with Poison Heal recovery and Substitute usage. The remaining 68 EVs are invested into Defense to increase Gliscor's physical walling capabilities as much as possible. Toxic Orb activates Poison Heal, which helps replenish Gliscor's health every turn and further aids Gliscor's stalling capabilities. Gliscor can also activate Toxic Orb by switching into other attackers to tank their hits. Usage Tips Gliscor's most common role is stalling. It has many positive matchups against faster physical attackers, allowing Gliscor to easily set up a Substitute and putting it in a great position to use Guillotine. However, when looking at Team Preview, be very careful when you see Mega Kangaskhan, Pokemon that can carry Hyper Voice such as Sylveon, Chandelure with Infiltrator, and any Pokemon that has a chance of carrying an Ice-type attack. Gliscor should always use Protect as its first move in order to scout the foe's move and have Toxic Orb activate. If using Toxic instead of Guillotine, Gliscor can inflict Pokemon such as Landorus-T, Garchomp, and Talonflame with poison and stall them out by alternating between Protect and Substitute. Team Options Chansey and Blissey have great Special Defense to help back up Gliscor's weaker Special Defense stat, forming an excellent defensive core. Additionally, because most Water- and Ice-type attacks are special moves, they have an easy time switching into threats that Gliscor can't handle. Water-type Pokemon such as Slowbro, Mega Slowbro, Suicune, and Rotom-W can also switch into the Water- and Ice-type attacks that threaten Gliscor. Mega Venusaur can switch into Water-type attacks that threaten Gliscor and provides Leech Seed support, letting Gliscor continuously wear down the foe and stall it without having to resort to Guillotine. Klefki has good defensive synergy with Gliscor, being able to switch into the Ice-type attacks aimed at Gliscor while Gliscor can freely switch into Ground-type attacks aimed at Klefki. Klefki either can utilize the combination of Swagger and Thunder Wave so that Gliscor has a safer time spamming Guillotine or can set up dual screens so that the opponent's Pokemon have a harder time breaking past Gliscor. Gliscor has good defensive synergy with Pokemon such as Tyranitar and Ferrothorn, making them good teammates. Pokemon with Toxic support let Gliscor stall out Pokemon that would otherwise be a threat to it. Pokemon such as Zapdos and Suicune can normally waste Guillotine's PP faster due to Pressure, and having them poisoned reflects the pressure back to the opponent.

Come in on Choice-locked Ground- or Electric-type attacks, Groudon, or something that Gliscor can force out with Earthquake, and set up a Substitute. Gliscor can then proceed to cripple the switch-in with Toxic, or just use Earthquake if they are immune to the status. The combination of Protect and Substitute provides a full 32 turns of undisturbed stalling, which means that anything with Life Orb, burn, poison, or Choice-locked into a low PP move will be forced to switch or die. Taunt is an excellent option over Protect, Toxic, or Earthquake, as without it this set is a sitting duck for Skarmory, Ferrothorn, and Forretress to set up on. Roost is an option worth considering as it gives Gliscor instant recovery, letting it wall certain threats far more reliably such as Terrakion and Rayquaza. Keep in mind though that Gliscor then loses its ability to scout, and will also lose its Flying typing for a turn. Taunt allows Gliscor to take on Chansey, Blissey, and Pokemon with healing moves attempting to heal off damage and poison. Unfortunately, removing any of the moves listed above for Taunt can pose severe problems to the set's overall effectiveness. The loss of Protect reduces Gliscor's healing capabilities and means that it can't scout as easily or PP and Toxic stall for 32 turns. Removing Earthquake leaves Gliscor vulnerable to being countered continually by any Steel- or Poison-type with Leftovers. Removing Toxic is also a bad idea, as even with Toxic Spikes up, Levitators, Flying-types, and Air Balloon users can all come in with impunity. Another option for the set is using 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD with an Impish nature, as this allows Gliscor to take on Choice Scarf Zekrom far more easily, in addition to setting up on support Groudon variants with little to no trouble. However, the loss of that much Speed is not without its disadvantages. The beauty of Gliscor's Speed stat is that it outspeeds the common base 90 group, meaning that Gliscor can use Toxic as they break the Substitute, then set up another before they have the opportunity to move. Better yet, faster Pokemon that could prevent Gliscor from using Toxic before executing the Substitute and Protect chain, such as Palkia, Rayquaza, Mewtwo, Shaymin-S, and Darkrai, tend to carry Life Orb or Choice Scarf. Substitute allows Gliscor to scout the move that Choiced Pokemon use and either PP stall it to give itself yet another free turn or switch to the appropriate counter. Due to the fact that Life Orb incurs recoil if the user attacks a Substitute, Gliscor doesn't even need Toxic to inflict passive damage on Pokemon that use it. These Pokemon will often faint without even relieving Gliscor of its Substitute, which means that it can simply start the process all over again on the opponent's next Pokemon. As mentioned previously, this Gliscor variant handles almost any Groudon set extremely well, being immune to Earthquake and neutral to Fire Punch, Stone Edge, and Dragon Claw. For offensive versions, simply Toxic and then SubStall away. Support versions are even easier to deal with, as they typically lack the punch needed to break Gliscor's Substitute with Dragon Tail, and may have only the inaccurate and low PP Stone Edge to retaliate with. Support Groudon can easily provide Gliscor with several free Substitute opportunities throughout the game, each one often netting a KO. The standard Dragon Tail / Will-O-Wisp Giratina set provides equally good setup fodder, as Dragon Tail cannot break Gliscor's Substitute. Gliscor can also set up against Dragon Claw variants of Giratina-O, as Dragon Claw does only so-so damage and Draco Meteors are absorbed by the Substitute. Outrage variants are handled pretty easily as well, but Gliscor will take a good chunk of damage when Toxicing on an Outrage. Arceus-Ground, although relatively rare, is also a good Pokemon to switch in on. Gliscor can also do some other important things for your team. It is an excellent switch-in to U-turn because it is resistant to Bug, immune to Spikes, and can heal back HP and scout the opposing switch-in with Poison Heal and Protect. Gliscor's 12.5% passive recovery is also useful for taking on Leech Seed users such as Whimsicott and Jumpluff, as Leech Seed will do 0 net damage after Poison Heal recovery, meaning that Gliscor can switch around and easily waste Leech Seed PP. If your team is especially weak to Choice Specs Kyogre, you can use Gliscor's Substitute and Protect to stall Kyogre out of Water Spout PP.

This is the more offensive version of Gliscor, taking advantage of its amazing STAB move: Acrobatics. Thanks to Flying Gem, Acrobatics skyrockets from a modest 55 Base Power to a monstrous 165 Base Power. Even after Flying Gem has been consumed, it still reaches a respectable 110 Base Power. With such a powerful attack, Gliscor is suddenly able to take on top tier threats such as Hitmontop and Abomasnow, OHKOing the former most of the time even after an Intimidate Attack drop. Tailwind can also be a great boon to your team, enabling it to outspeed threats and KO them before they can move. Earthquake is a staple on any physical Ground-type, and Protect allows Gliscor to scout an odd Hidden Power Ice or Ice Beam. The EVs allow Gliscor to hit as hard as possible while allowing it to take Dragon Claws and weaker specially based moves more easily. If your Gliscor has a need for speed, you can opt for a spread of 124 HP / 252 Atk / 132 Spe, which allows Gliscor to outspeed neutral base 80 Speed Pokemon. If you really want Gliscor to outspeed Pokemon such as Timid Chandelure and Jolly Mamoswine before Tailwind, you can use a spread of 12 HP / 252 Atk / 244 Spe, but it detracts from Gliscor's good defenses. If your team doesn't need Tailwind, Ice Fang can go in Tailwind's place to hit most Dragon-types harder than Acrobatics. Sand Veil can help Gliscor get a Substitute up, and can go over Protect if you're feeling lucky; if you don't, however, Hyper Cutter can be used over Sand Veil to suppress Intimidate. This is especially helpful against Salamence and Arcanine, allowing Gliscor to deal nice chunks of damage to either of them with a super effective move. Offensive Gliscor enjoys Tyranitar's Sand Stream to help guarantee some OHKOs and break Focus Sashes. Gliscor can help Tyranitar out as well, given its talent for KOing the Fighting-types that Tyranitar loathes. With Tailwind, Garchomp finds itself able to outspeed and OHKO Latios before the latter can respond, allowing it to spam Earthquake to its heart's content. Zapdos is able to use Heat Wave, which can prove useful against hail teams, and can also form a combination of Discharge and Earthquake with Gliscor. Terrakion and Infernape can KO Ice-types that give Gliscor shivers with their respective STAB moves. Since your opponent might try to stall out Tailwind with Protect, Choice Scarf Rotom-W can lock them into Protect with Trick, while being able to zap rain abusers with an Electric move of choice. If you really want to abuse Poison Heal with this Gliscor, you can Toxic your own Gliscor with one of your Pokemon.

This set capitalizes on Gliscor's brilliant tanking skills, immunity to status, and good coverage. Earthquake is any physical Ground-type's favorite move, and Rock Slide complements it by hitting Flying-types super effectively. However, you might find that Gliscor's partners have Rock Slide as well, making its Rock Slide somewhat redundant. Ice Fang is another good move that complements Earthquake, and it even 2HKOes Dragonite with one turn of sandstorm damage. Protect is a staple on any Poison Heal Gliscor, allowing it to activate its Toxic Orb and annoy the opponent in general. Tailwind is a Dream World exclusive move (in conjunction with Poison Heal, that is) that any non-Trick Room team appreciates having. However, Tailwind cannot be used with any of its Egg moves, such as Feint. The EVs make sure Gliscor outspeeds neutral base 80 Speed Pokemon such as Chandelure and unboosted Blaziken. The HP EVs make Gliscor's HP divisible by 8, which garners more Poison Heal recovery, while the leftover EVs are put into Attack. If you want your Gliscor to pack a little more punch, you can use an EV spread of 116 HP / 252 Atk / 140 Spe. 132 Speed EVs for Adamant Gliscor and 140 Speed EVs for a Jolly variant is probably the lowest you'd want to go since it will still let Gliscor outpaces the myriad of Pokemon that sit at the base 80 Speed tier. Tyranitar is an excellent partner; it enjoys Tailwind and can help Gliscor out with passive damage. Gliscor hates Ice-types and hail teams, so strong Rock Slide users or Pokemon such as a Tyranitar with Fire Blast or Low Kick are much appreciated. If you're running a sand team, chances are you're using several Water-weak Pokemon. Gastrodon and Thundurus can help Gliscor and the rest of your team out by discouraging the use of Water-type moves. Metagross can also help Gliscor overcome its fear of the cold with Meteor Mash and Bullet Punch, while being able to run ThunderPunch to take care of Water-types. Rotom-W can also make a great partner since it is immune to Earthquake and possesses a great STAB Electric-type move for Gliscor's Water-type phobia. Since this Gliscor isn't running Acrobatics, it would be a good idea to look into a partner such as Terrakion or Chandelure. Chandelure is weak to Gliscor's Earthquake, but can OHKO many common hail abusers with a Fire-type move. Chandelure can also be used to reverse Trick Room, meaning Gliscor's Tailwind won't be wasted.
