Gurdurr is a notable tank in ZU thanks to its good bulk and access to decent recovery through Drain Punch. This recovery lets Gurdurr more consistently set up, letting it accumulate multiple boosts. Gurdurr can utilize Bulk Up mid- or late-game against passive foes like Stunfisk and Coalossal. Knock Off cripples switch-ins such as Tangela, Altaria, and Rotom-S. Mach Punch allows Gurdurr to revenge kill foes such as Shiftry and Kangaskhan. 252 HP and 60 Defense EVs ensure that Gurdurr will only be 3HKOed by Kangaskhan's Double-Edge. Guts lets Gurdurr absorb Will-O-Wisp from Rapidash and Toxic from Pyukumuku to empower its attacks. Gurdurr fits on both bulky offense and balance teams due to its solid bulk and ability to generate pressure with both Bulk Up and Mach Punch. Gurdurr appreciates strong offensive support from its teammates to keep initiative throughout the battle, as it is otherwise prone to being worn down by common VoltTurn cores. Wallbreakers such as Rapidash, Silvally formes, and Thievul can threaten physical walls such as Tangela, Gourgeist-XL, and Qwilfish, enabling Gurdurr to better threaten them late-game. Pokemon such as Rotom and Exeggutor benefit from Gurdurr revenge killing foes such as Silvally-Dark and Shiftry with Mach Punch; in return, they can threaten Flying-types such as Rotom-S and Cramorant that trouble it.

As a Defog user, Gurdurr has a solid matchup against common entry hazard setters like Piloswine and Ferroseed. It also finds opportunities to Defog as a bulky offensive threat, forcing out physical attackers unable to trade hits with it like Raboot and Galarian Linoone. Knock Off further increases its utility by crippling switch-ins. Toxic shores up Gurdurr's otherwise poor matchup into Galarian Corsola, but Ice Punch and High Horsepower are alternatives that help against Poison-type entry hazard setters in Roselia, Koffing, and Mareanie. The defensive investment allows Gurdurr to take two hits from Choice Band Raboot's High Jump Kick after Stealth Rock while also avoiding a 3HKO from Piloswine and other variants of Raboot, with the rest invested into Attack to increase Gurdurr's damage output. Gurdurr's best teammates will vary depending on the fourth slot chosen; when using Toxic, Gurdurr will have a difficult time against the aforementioned Poison-types, so Pokemon that can pressure these or use them as setup fodder like Lampent, Ferroseed, and Duosion are fantastic partners. On the other hand, Pokemon that can assist in pressuring Galarian Corsola like Hattrem and Roselia are very desirable when foregoing Toxic, with the latter in particular being useful for absorbing Toxic Spikes, which Gurdurr has a difficult time clearing.

Bulk Up enhances Gurdurr's already solid offensive capabilities and allows it to function as a mid- to late-game sweeper, with Drain Punch keeping Gurdurr healthy and allowing it to garner boosts against physical attackers like Raboot and Piloswine. Knock Off is Gurdurr's best coverage move, hitting Fighting-resistant Pokemon like Galarian Corsola and Hattrem for massive damage while also making it easier to break through other Pokemon like Clefairy and Mareanie by removing their Eviolite. Mach Punch rounds off the set, helping to take out weakened faster attackers like Electabuzz and Rufflet. Ice Punch can be used over either of the last two moves, reducing Gurdurr's offensive utility but in turn giving it a way to more immediately damage Roselia and still hit neutral targets for respectable damage. The Speed investment allows Gurdurr to outpace uninvested Piloswine and Hattrem, although this can be invested into bulk if preferred. Gurdurr can struggle to get past physically defensive walls like Tangela, Clefairy, and Galarian Corsola; other physical attackers like Galarian Linoone, Raboot, and Piloswine can assist in breaking down these shared answers while the latter two also greatly benefit from Gurdurr removing foe's items. Similarly, special attackers like Roselia and Duosion can increase Gurdurr's breaking potential with Spikes and Future Sight support, respectively, and can switch into the aforementioned walls with ease. Hattrem is also a notable teammate, as it can wall Mareanie and prevent Galarian Corsola from healing with Strength Sap.

Guts-boosted Gurdurr is a force to be reckoned with; it trades Eviolite and Drain Punch for the power and coverage of Close Combat and Facade, allowing it to 2HKO physically defensive walls like Clefairy, Mareanie, and Slowpoke with ease. Mach Punch rounds off the set by finishing off weakened faster attackers like Raboot and Electabuzz. Unfortunately, Gurdurr still struggles to break through certain physically defensive walls like Tangela and Koffing, and without Eviolite, Gurdurr becomes much more vulnerable to faster Pokemon like Electabuzz and Raboot. Charjabug is an excellent teammate for providing Gurdurr with Sticky Web support, slowing down wallbreakers like Lampent that would otherwise force Gurdurr out and using a slow Volt Switch to bring Gurdurr in safely and activate its Flame Orb. Other slow pivots like Slowpoke and Clefairy similarly are very useful and further support Gurdurr with moves like Future Sight, Thunder Wave, and Healing Wish to augment its offensive potential. Offensive pivots are similarly useful, with Electabuzz luring in specially defensive Pokemon like Duosion for Gurdurr to burst through and Thwackey providing passive recovery with Grassy Terrain and benefitting from Gurdurr breaking down shared checks like Roselia and Koffing.

战术分析
Moves Drain Punch is Gurdurr's main STAB move, which also provides it with an extremely useful form of recovery. Mach Punch makes up for Gurdurr's low Speed by allowing it to revenge kill faster Pokemon or clean late-game after checks to it have been weakened and it has used Bulk Up. Knock Off is a very helpful utility move that allows Gurdurr to hit Ghost- and Psychic-types like Golurk and Claydol on the switch as well as get rid of important items like Tangela's Eviolite. Finally, Bulk Up allows Gurdurr to beat many physical attackers one-on-one or clean late-game in conjunction with Mach Punch. Set Details Guts is the preferred ability because it allows Gurdurr to take advantage of Pokemon like Alolan Sandslash and Regirock, which can only damage it meaningfully by using status moves like Toxic. 212 Defense EVs are used in order to avoid the 2HKO from Choice Band Stoutland's Return after Stealth Rock. The rest of the EVs are funneled into HP and Attack, which along with an Adamant nature, give Gurdurr amazing physical bulk while still retaining an offensive presence. Eviolite further boosts Gurdurr's already decent bulk. Usage Tips Gurdurr is an effective Bulk Up sweeper late-game, but should not bother setting up too early as it has many common checks which need to be weakened. Switch into Pokemon that Gurdurr checks, such as Skuntank and Lycanroc, in order to threaten them with Drain Punch or set up with Bulk Up. If you predict a switch into a Pokemon that walls Gurdurr like Jellicent, use Knock Off because removing Colbur Berry or Leftovers can help teammates wear them down more easily. Use Mach Punch to pick off weakened threats like Jynx and Dodrio, even after they've used their respective boosting move. Alternatively, after using Bulk Up, Mach Punch can be used to clean late-game once Gurdurr's checks, like Psychic- and Poison-types, have been weakened. Finally, although Gurdurr resists Dark-type moves, try not to switch into Knock Off, as Gurdurr's item is vital for it to act as a check to physical attackers. Team Options Gurdurr fits best on offensive or balanced teams that can make use of its ability to be a blanket check to the tier's physical attackers. It struggles to take on both Poison- and Fairy-types, so Pokemon that give it a better matchup against them, such as Golurk and Haunter, make for decent partners. In return, Gurdurr can switch into the powerful physical moves that threaten these offensive Pokemon and threaten even faster Pokemon with Mach Punch. Gurdurr also is taken on easily by Oricorio-E, one of the most common Pokemon in the tier, so a switch-in to Flying-type STAB moves like Regirock and Lanturn is necessary. Pursuit trappers, such as Spiritomb or Skuntank, can also help to remove Psychic- and Ghost-types which give Gurdurr a hard time. Because Gurdurr's special bulk is subpar, Pokemon that have better special bulk such as the aformentioned Lanturn make for pretty good partners; Gurdurr can even take physical hits for them. In particular, Eelektross makes for a useful partner as it can whittle away at bulkier teams and take on Flying-types for Gurdurr.

战术分析
Moves Drain Punch is a decently powerful STAB move that also recovers half the damage dealt to the foe. Mach Punch allows Gurdurr to revenge kill faster Pokemon such as Jynx and Pyroar. Knock Off is an important utility move that removes the opposing Pokemon's item and hits Ghost- and Psychic-types such as Rotom, Mismagius, Mesprit, and Exeggutor. Bulk Up boosts Gurdurr's Attack and Defense, greatly increasing its power and longevity versus opposing physical attackers. Alternatively, Stone Edge can be used to hit Flying-types, particularly Scyther and Charizard. Set Details Eviolite increases Gurdurr's overall bulk to respectable levels. Guts allows Gurdurr to benefit from status conditions. The given EV spread avoids the 2HKO from both Adamant Silk Scarf Kangaskhan's Double-Edge and Life Orb Tauros's Rock Climb after Stealth Rock damage. The rest of the EVs are placed into attack to maximize Gurdurr's offensive presence. Usage Tips Early-game, Gurdurr should use Knock Off to get chip damage off or to cripple its checks, and there really aren't any drawbacks to using the move. Pivot into physical attackers such as Kangaskhan, Aggron, Steelix, and Kabutops in order to gain momentum and threaten them with a STAB move. Be sure to be wary when switching into Aggron though, as Choice Band Heavy Slam is capable of 2HKOing. If using Stone Edge, don't reveal it too early, as it holds some surprise factor, so it is best used to hit Flying-types as they switch in or if you predict them to stay in on Gurdurr thinking that they have a free opportunity to set up. While Gurdurr is very effective at checking Dark-types, it is severely crippled by losing its Eviolite and they commonly run Knock Off, so be wary of repeatedly switching Gurdurr in on them. Gurdurr can be used as a status absorber thanks to Guts, but it should stay away from Toxic users because the rapidly increasing residual damage is more detrimental to Gurdurr than the boost from Guts. Use Bulk Up when Gurdurr threatens the opposing Pokemon with a STAB move or against more passive defensive Pokemon, especially those lacking Toxic, such as Torterra and Regirock. Team Options In order to combat the bulky Psychic-types that trouble Gurdurr, Dark- and Ghost-types such as Liepard, Haunter, and Mismagius make for good teammates. Conversely, Psychic-types themselves are excellent teammates, as they appreciate having a bulky check to Dark-types, and good examples include Xatu, Mesprit, and Musharna. Grass-types, such as Lilligant, Torterra, and Ludicolo, appreciate Gurdurr eliminating troublesome Flying-types with Stone Edge. Poison- and Steel-types such as Garbodor, Weezing, Klinklang, and Mawile are helpful to threaten Fairy-types such as Mega Audino and Clefairy. Vivillon is a good teammate for Gurdurr as it appreciates Gurdurr's ability to break through bulky Rock- and Steel-types, and Gurdurr appreciates Vivillon breaking though bulky Grass-types such as Vileplume and Gourgeist-XL. In addition, Vivillon can incapacitate bulky Poison-types that Gurdurr struggles with such as Garbodor and Weezing.

Moves Drain Punch allows Gurdurr to recover its HP while attacking. Mach Punch gives Gurdurr much-needed priority to back up its low Speed stat and allows it to hit faster special attackers that threaten it. It also allows Gurdurr to act as a revenge killer early-game, as Gurdurr can switch in and KO an opposing Pokemon with Mach Punch before switching out. Knock Off gives Gurdurr very good neutral coverage, only losing out on Fairy- and Dark-types. By removing opposing Pokemon's items, Gurdurr can have an easier time setting up. Poison Jab can be used over Knock Off, as it allows Gurdurr to hurt Fairy-types, but it loses out on coverage against Ghost- and Psychic-types, and loses a lot of utility against stall teams. Bulk Up boosts both Gurdurr's Attack and Defense stats at the same time, allowing it to become almost untouchable with physical attacks. With Ice Punch Gurdurr can more reliably get past Venusaur and Flying-types such as Golbat and Togetic. Set Details 252 HP EVs allow Gurdurr to be as bulky as possible, which in turn gives it more chances to set up and tank hits. 252 Attack EVs along with an Adamant nature allow Gurdurr to hit hard before any boosts, which makes it a viable revenge killer along with Mach Punch. This also allows it to recover more HP with Drain Punch before it sets up. Guts gives Gurdurr an Attack boost when affected by a status condition. Eviolite is used to give Gurdurr a boost to its defenses. Maximum Special Defense EVs with a Careful nature is another option, as this allows Gurdurr to set up against special attackers a lot easier. However, Gurdurr then misses out on its role as a revenge killer, and it is forced to set up in order to recover more HP. Usage Tips While most of its checks are still around early-game, Gurdurr can be used as a revenge killer with Mach Punch. However, Gurdurr should not be just sent out, as if it is not able to KO the opposing Pokemon it will usually be taking quite a bit of damage, which makes it harder to set up early-game. It should also be careful when it is setting up, as if Poison- and Fairy-types are still around, it has a very hard time getting through them. Against bulky and slower teams, Gurdurr should use Knock Off early-game to remove the opposing team's items. Team Options Because Gurdurr hates going up against bulky Poison- and Fairy-types, Pokemon that can remove these are helpful. Meloetta is notable because it can easily remove pokemon such as Golbat and Venusaur which get in Gurdurr's way. Pokemon such as Escavalier pair up nicely with Gurdurr, as it can handle Fairy-types such as Aromatisse for it. With its ability Guts, Gurdurr helps other setup sweepers that do not like taking status themselves. Mega Glalie gets a mention, as it cannot hold a Lum Berry due to it being a Mega Evolution. Because Gurdurr has a hard time getting past bulky Psychic- and Ghost-types such as Meloetta and Cofagrigus, Pursuit users such as Spiritomb and Skuntank, which also carry Sucker Punch, generally pair up well with it.

战术分析
With Bulk Up, Gurdurr can play the role of a boosting sweeper, taking advantage of the boosts in defensive stats that Eviolite provides in order to help it set up. This set generally takes much longer to set up than other sweepers in the tier, such as Shell Smash Carracosta, Rain Dance Ludicolo, and Swords Dance Sawsbuck, but what it loses out in speed of setup, it more than makes up for in reliability. Bulk Up is used to raise Gurdurr's Attack and Defense, simultaneously helping it set up thanks to the Defense boosts and increasing its power to prepare for its sweep. Drain Punch is Gurdurr's most reliable STAB; thanks to the recovery the move provides, Gurdurr can continue to fight even in the face of Pokemon that could otherwise cripple it. Mach Punch is used on this set to ignore Gurdurr's poor Speed and to finish off many Pokemon that would otherwise outspeed and KO it. The last choice in move typically goes to Payback, a move that doubles in power if the user moves second, which Gurdurr generally will due to its low Speed. Payback allows Gurdurr to compensate for this flaw, and it also lets it beat Misdreavus one-on-one. Ice Punch can be used in this slot, however, should you already have a reliable check for Misdreavus, as it allows Gurdurr to beat Flying-types and Vileplume much more easily. Eviolite should always be used along with full HP investment to give Gurdurr much needed bulk. Attack investment is used over Special Defense investment, since many special attackers, such as Charizard, Gardevoir, and Musharna, can often beat it regardless of additional defensive investment. Guts is the preferred ability for this set, as it allows Gurdurr to absorb status that would otherwise cripple it or cut its sweep short. Guts is also the better ability to use for the potential matchup against Misdreavus, which very often carries Will-O-Wisp. If you run Heal Bell support on your team, Iron Fist can be used instead for the immediate power boost it provides; however, it should be noted that a burn will still cut a sweep short, since you'll have to call Gurdurr back in order to use Heal Bell. You can also use Stone Edge or Rock Slide on this set to hit Charizard or Articuno on a switch, but Golurk will then wall Gurdurr entirely. Skuntank partners well with this set due to its ability to beat Psychic- and Ghost-types that threaten it. Additionally, Metang can both provide Stealth Rock support and tank Flying- and Psychic-type attacks aimed toward Gurdurr. Bulky Rock-type Pokemon, such as Regirock, can also take Flying-type attacks while setting up Stealth Rock. As previously mentioned, Heal Bell support, while by no means required, is appreciated alongside Gurdurr to prevent an untimely Toxic from taking it down while it's getting ready to sweep. Finally, special walls, such as Audino, Lickilicky, and Mantine, are all appreciated to sponge attacks targeting Gurdurr's less impressive Special Defense stat.

Although it is most often seen running a Bulk Up set, Gurdurr can also play the role of a bulky attacker and pivot for offensively oriented teams in need of a partner that can take a hit and dish one out. This set is also very bulky, but it forgoes the ability to boost and sweep teams for greater utility. Drain Punch is chosen as a reasonably powerful STAB that can make up for the lack of passive recovery from Leftovers. Mach Punch allows Gurdurr to come in and revenge kill faster offensive threats. Because of the prominence of frail attackers in NU, this quality is greatly appreciated for bulky offensive teams and offensive teams alike. Ice Punch should be used in the third slot for the most reliable coverage alongside Gurdurr's Fighting-type STAB, as it hits Flying-type and Vileplume for super effective damage. Knock Off can be used in the last slot to hinder the performance of the common bulky Pokemon, such as Alomomola, Misdreavus, and Tangela, that rely heavily on their item in order to function best. Alternatively, if you would prefer a way of hitting Bug-types, such as Pinsir, Stone Edge is a great option in the fourth slot. Eviolite is incredibly important for Gurdurr to run on this set, as its teammates will be relying on it to sponge hits, something it cannot do without the added bulk that Eviolite provides. Rock Slide can be used over Stone Edge for greater accuracy, although the lack of boosting item makes the added power of Stone Edge more appealing. Hammer Arm can be used in place of Drain Punch, trading perfect accuracy and recovery for added power. Toxic can be used in the last slot as an alternate way of handling bulky switch-ins, but it leaves you vulnerable to being set up on by Spikes users, such as Garbodor. Iron Fist is chosen for the ability on this set since the majority of the moves on the set are boosted, but Guts is an option if you are more concerned with absorbing status. This set struggles against Psychic- and Ghost-type Pokemon, making Skuntank a good partner. Gurdurr also still needs partners that can take special hits, but as it's also going to be taking many hits, specially defensive Pokemon that can pass it Wishes are appreciated--Audino and Lickilicky both perform this role well. Finally, offensive Pokemon that don't like taking hits play well with this set. SubDisable Haunter can escape Skuntank, a Pokemon that would otherwise cause it major problems, and pivot out into Gurdurr to take it on more efficiently.

战术分析
Gurdurr's solid natural bulk, adequate movepool, and Guts ability make it a very capable user of a simple Bulk Up set. After a Bulk Up, Gurdurr becomes incredibly tough to break through on the physical side; even powerful attacks such as Choice Band Entei's Flare Blitz and Choice Band Druddigon's Outrage fail to 2HKO Gurdurr at full health. However, without any form of recovery, this becomes a moot point, which is why Drain Punch is the most optimal STAB attack for Gurdurr to use, as this allows Gurdurr to mitigate the damage taken while setting up, as well as giving it the flexibility to take hits afterwards and recover a significant amount of HP in return. Overall, Thunder Punch is the most consistently useful coverage move for Gurdurr, as it allows Gurdurr to comfortably beat Qwilfish and defensive variants of Slowking, prevent dangerous Pokemon such as Moltres from switching in for free, and maintains neutral coverage on the majority of the tier. However, Payback is also an effective option, as despite the fact that Gurdurr becomes noticeably more vulnerable to Pokemon such as Qwilfish and Moltres, it does provide Gurdurr with a method of dealing respectable damage to Psychic-types, such as Mesprit and Uxie, as well as preventing it from being completely walled by Golurk and Rotom. Mach Punch is, of course, a staple for Gurdurr, as it allows it to compensate for its low Speed and prevent stronger special attackers, such as Sceptile and Magmortar, from revenge killing it after they have been worn down enough, in addition to allowing Gurdurr to comfortably check Pokemon such as Zangoose, Tauros, and Shell Smash Omastar. Due to the fact that Gurdurr is more or less confined to using Bulk Up, Drain Punch, and Mach Punch, or it risks becoming outclassed by the other Fighting-types of the tier, the only flexibility it retains lies in the coverage move it uses. Ice Punch is one option, as it retains solid neutral coverage alongside Drain Punch and remains Gurdurr's best bet at breaking through Amoonguss, but the trade-off of being significantly more vulnerable to Slowking, Qwilfish, and Moltres is often reason enough to avoid it without a very capable defensive core supporting Gurdurr. On the other hand, Rock Slide allows Gurdurr to retain similarly solid neutral coverage while allowing it to more effectively take on Bug-types and OHKO Moltres on the switch, but it doesn't help Gurdurr overcome any of its more traditional defensive counters. One of the most important partners to consider for Gurdurr is a Pursuit user; due to the fact that the RU tier shelters a plethora of durable Psychic- and Ghost-types—all of whom give Gurdurr headaches—it is nearly mandatory to carry Pursuit support in order to open a window for Gurdurr to sweep. Considering its ability to effectively combat Gallade in addition to other Psychic- and Ghost-types, Spiritomb is often the most optimal teammate for this purpose, but both Absol and Escavalier are also effective in this role if Gallade is already well-covered. However, while most Ghost- and Psychic-types are covered fairly handily by these means, Spiritomb, particularly the defensive set, can prove a difficult obstacle for Gurdurr to overcome, and having teammates to properly capitalize upon it is encouraged; specially based Fire-types, such as Moltres and Magmortar, can comfortably switch into defensive Spiritomb (being immune to Will-O-Wisp and taking minimal damage from Foul Play) and threaten to 2HKO with their STAB attacks, while Roselia can easily set up entry hazards against Spiritomb, recovering the damage it inflicts with Rest. These Pokemon are also very capable of threatening bothersome physical walls, namely Tangrowth and Alomomola, whom impede Gurdurr indefinitely. Slowking makes a quality partner for Gurdurr as well, being capable of stomaching most of the strong specially based attacks aimed at Gurdurr, while in return baiting Dark- and Bug-types for Gurdurr to set up on. Moreover, due to Slowking's versatility as a Pokemon, it is capable of supporting Gurdurr in a variety of ways to benefit the playstyle used, whether it be spreading burns on Psychic-types with Scald, baiting and KOing Tangrowth with Fire Blast, or even opening up a more comfortable sweep for Gurdurr with Trick Room.
