Bulk Up allows Palkia to beat enemies it otherwise wouldn't be able to, such as Blissey and Necrozma-DM. With the given HP investment, Palkia's Substitute isn't broken by defensive Lunala's Ice Beam or uninvested Necrozma-DM's Earthquake at +1 Defense. Scale Shot can help Palkia become a dangerous sweeper, allowing it to outspeed Calyrex-S after one boost. It also helps break Lunala's Shadow Shield, as it is a multi-hit move. Maximum Speed investment allows Palkia to outspeed offensive Yveltal. Geomancy Xerneas appreciates Palkia beating its hardest counters in Necrozma-DM and Ho-Oh. Kyogre's Drizzle powers up Liquidation and helps overwhelm their shared checks in Eternatus, with Palkia luring in and setting up on Blissey. Magnezone can trap and remove Ferrothorn with the combination of Magnet Pull and Body Press. Ferrothorn can set Spikes and checks Zekrom and Zygarde-C, while Palkia can force Ho-Oh out. On hyper offense teams, Sticky Web setters such as Shuckle and Slurpuff can help mitigate Palkia's middling Speed.

Thunder hits Kyogre and Yveltal super effectively and can spread paralysis, often under rain to boost its accuracy. Fire Blast punishes Ferrothorn, Zarude, and Magearna. Lustrous Orb-boosted Draco Meteor is an option instead of Spacial Rend to OHKO Eternatus after it switches into Stealth Rock. Maximum Speed investment allows Palkia to barely outspeed Yveltal and Xerneas. Leftovers is an option to have some longevity against offensive Kyogre. Ho-Oh makes for a great partner, as it can switch into Eternatus lacking Meteor Beam and paralyze it, allowing Palkia to outspeed it. In return, Palkia can switch into Kyogre and take its attacks. Zygarde-C can help deal with Marshadow and Groudon, two Pokemon that Palkia struggles with. Kyogre is an excellent partner, as its Drizzle allows Palkia to 2HKO Necrozma-DM with Hydro Pump. Necrozma-DM is a very reliable switch-in to Xerneas and Eternatus. Yveltal can help against Calyrex-S, which otherwise revenge kills Palkia. Cleric support from Blissey and Xerneas is appreciated, as Palkia is very susceptible to status afflictions.

战术分析
Palkia, while certainly not the most popular Restricted Pokemon, definitely has a niche in Series 11 for its strong matchup against Kyogre teams, respectable bulk, and considerable offensive prowess. Palkia's STAB combination is excellent, as few Pokemon resist it; both Max Geyser and Max Wyrmwind are quite useful, as Max Geyser sets up rain and Max Wyrmwind lowers the Attack of opposing Pokemon, such as Calyrex-I and Zacian-C. Earth Power is a useful coverage move when Palkia is Dynamaxed, as Palkia can OHKO Zacian-C with Life Orb Max Quake, and it boosts Palkia's Special Defense. Trick Room can turn the tables in Palkia's favor when facing faster paced teams. Life Orb's stronger power boost is preferable because it also boosts Max Quake; however, if another teammate wants to run Life Orb, Lustrous Orb can be used instead. Palkia can also run more Speed investment, as it has a nice base 100 Speed stat, which is faster than Kyogre, Kyurem-W, Reshiram, and both Urshifu formes. However, a bulkier EV spread is usually preferred, as Palkia fits well on bulky Trick Room teams. Since Palkia struggles with Zacian-C, as well as Grass-types that are supported by Grimmsnarl's Light Screen like Venusaur and Amoonguss, it appreciates partners that can check the aforementioned Pokemon like Incineroar and Rotom-H, and they appreciate Palkia's ability to check Landorus-T and Kyogre in return. Regieleki appreciates Palkia checking Ground-types for it, and provides Palkia with speed control via Electroweb. Ferrothorn gives Palkia teams a strong win condition with Iron Defense and Body Press and appreciates Palkia's ability to check Fire-types for it. Grimmsnarl helps Palkia stay alive longer with dual screens, as well as providing speed control with either Scary Face or Thunder Wave. Porygon2 also provides speed control with Trick Room, allowing Palkia to more freely drop Trick Room in favor of Protect, and it can weaken opposing special attackers like Venusaur and Dialga with Eerie Impulse.

While Palkia is a potent wallbreaker, it can utilize its unique typing, good natural bulk, and high innate Special Attack to take on threatening offensive Pokemon, mainly Kyogre. Draco Meteor is very strong, even uninvested, and can be used to pick up potential KOs on various Pokemon such as Eternatus after some chip damage. Surf is a consistent STAB move that pressures Ho-Oh. Rest is Palkia's only method of recovery aside from Leftovers and also enables it to shrug off status from Ho-Oh, Zygarde-C, and Necrozma-DM. Toxic allows Palkia to cripple Kyogre, Groudon, and Dragon Dance Zygarde-C, as well as defensive walls such as Ho-Oh, Yveltal, Gastrodon, and Lunala. Roar can be used to phaze Pokemon that usually use setup moves such as Groudon and rack up entry hazard damage. It also enables Palkia to beat Calm Mind Kyogre. Lustrous Orb gives Palkia the ability to pressure the likes of Ho-Oh and Eternatus more effectively. Alternatively, Leftovers significantly boosts Palkia's longevity, letting it stick around for longer without having to use the exploitable Rest as often. Palkia's defensive utility is very much appreciated for teams that lack a sturdy check to Kyogre. Pokemon such as Necrozma-DM and Ho-Oh that can take on Xerneas pair well with Palkia, as it forces Palkia out with ease and threatens to set up with Geomancy. Necrozma-DM also deals with Zacian-C, whereas Ho-Oh can neutralize Dynamaxed Yveltal and limit any progress Ferrothorn may seek to make with Spikes. If Palkia chooses to forego Roar, a Pokemon that can deal with Calm Mind Kyogre such as Ferrothorn, Teleport Chansey or Blissey, or offensive checks such as Zacian-C are appreciated. Blissey and Chansey are particularly notable for their ability to wall Life Orb Eternatus as well.

The combination of Palkia's respectable speed, gigantic Special Attack, and wide coverage makes it a truly devastating wallbreaker capable of ripping through common walls such as Ho-Oh, Eternatus, Zygarde-C, and Necrozma-DM. Spacial Rend is relatively safe to click in most situations due to its high Base Power and accuracy, giving Palkia the means to break through bulky Eternatus and Zygarde-C. Thunder is used to nail Kyogre, which Palkia is able to check thanks to its useful typing and natural bulk. It also does hefty damage to Yveltal. Hydro Pump offers more power than Spacial Rend and can hit neutral targets such as Necrozma-DM and Zacian-C hard and Ho-Oh and Groudon super effectively. Fire Blast is preferred in the last slot to KO Ferrothorn, as well as to threaten Zacian-C and Necrozma-DM. Alternatively, Focus Punch can be used with Life Orb to KO Blissey and 2HKO Chansey on the switch while still threatening Ferrothorn. However, be wary of the opponent scouting for it by baiting it and switching out. A Timid nature is used to outspeed Pokemon such as bulky Eternatus, Groudon, Yveltal, and Kyogre. If Focus Punch is used over Fire Blast, use a Hasty nature to avoid lowering damage output. Leftovers provides passive recovery, preventing Palkia from getting worn down too quickly by Kyogre. Lustrous Orb provides a boost to Palkia's STAB moves without incurring recoil. Life Orb provides a notable boost to all of Palkia's moves but will cause Palkia to lose health quickly. Palkia fits best on balanced and bulky offensive teams as a proactive means of handling Kyogre. Palkia appreciates Pokemon that can take on faster Pokemon such as Calyrex-S, Zacian-C, Life Orb Eternatus, and Marshadow. Yveltal, Necrozma-DM, Tyranitar, and bulky Zygarde-C, respectively, all provide a way to deal with these threats. Pokemon that can pressure Chansey, Gastrodon, and Blissey are heavily recommended, as they can take on most Palkia variants. Notable examples are Toxic Spikes Eternatus, Marshadow, Zacian-C, and other various physical wallbreakers such as Dragon Dance Zygarde-C and Swords Dance Groudon. Palkia prefers to keep its HP high, so only bring it into play on resisted hits such as Necrozma-DM's Sunsteel Strike, Ho-Oh's Sacred Fire, and Kyogre's Water Spout. Kyogre itself is a good partner for Palkia as it provides rain, boosting Hydro Pump even further and granting Thunder perfect accuracy. In return, Palkia can help break down shared checks such as Blissey if Palkia has Focus Punch.

战术分析
Palkia is the most common Rain sweeper in the tier thanks to its Water typing and great mixed attacking stats. Swift Swim lets Palkia outspeed the entire tier under rain, allowing it to opt for a Naughty nature that allows Palkia to OHKO Xerneas and Regigigas with Fishious Rend. Water Spout provides a nuclear STAB move to get past Fur Coat users like Zamazenta-C and Solgaleo. Alternatively, Steam Eruption sacrifices raw damage for a stronger matchup into priority users, such as Pixilate Xerneas with Extreme Speed, as these move before Palkia and weaken its damage output. Dragon Energy is useful to remove Dragon-types like Eternatus and Giratina while also providing an option to hit Desolate Land users like Ho-Oh. Strength Sap provides longevity and keeps Water Spout and Dragon Energy's damage high. As a rain sweeper, a teammate with Drizzle is mandatory for this set to work, so teammates like Melmetal, Zygarde-C, and Giratina are useful, as they can set rain and pivot out via a Teleport or a slow U-turn. Melmetal can also switch in on Xerneas to scout for Extreme Speed and threaten it out, with rain helping neutralize its weakness to Fire-type attacks like V-create and Blue Flare. Palkia's Dragon Energy beats common Desolate Land users like Ho-Oh and Reshiram but can struggle against the former if Palkia is damaged, so a supporting teammate like Barraskewda, Zekrom, or Primordial Sea Zamazenta-C can help bypass this. Aromatherapy support can help Palkia sweep by removing paralysis, mostly from surprise Prankster Glare users. Dragon Energy is useful in exploiting a weakened Imposter user, however for a teammate to reliably Imposter-proof this set, Dry Skin or Water Absorb are necessary.

Palkia is a premier mixed wallbreaker due to its great typing, which offers it two stellar STAB attacks in Fishious Rend and Dragon Energy that are capable of 2HKOing virtually the entire tier. A Naive nature is used to maximize the amount of threats Palkia outspeeds, as both STAB attacks benefit from the user moving first. Strength Sap is used not only for longevity but also to keep Dragon Energy's damage output as high as possible, which would otherwise limit Palkia's ability to threaten common Dragon-types like Zygarde-C, Giratina, and Imposter users. Volt Switch lets Palkia maintain momentum against its checks, mostly Fur Coat Steel-types and Prankster Tapu Fini. Nuzzle can punish these checks for switching in rather than gaining momentum off of them, potentially offering a teammate like Regigigas an easier time handling them. Draco Meteor provides a strong Dragon-type attack that can be used if Palkia is at low HP. Palkia's best fit is on teams that can maximize the amount of chances it gets to switch in and use its massive damage output. Xerneas and Regigigas act as excellent partners, as these can both use pivot moves to get Palkia in or run coverage like V-create and Precipice Blades to help destroy Palkia's checks like Zamazenta-C. RegenVest users like Dialga and Kyogre excel at forcing out faster threats that Palkia can't switch in on, such as Eternatus and Zacian, both being able to paralyze Imposter users with Nuzzle. Palkia is normally Imposter-proofed via a Tapu Fini, Ferrothorn, or Fur Coat Steel-type, however has an advantageous matchup against Imposter users if they are paralysed or on low HP, as the Imposter user's Dragon Energy will be doing non-threatening damage.

战术分析
Moves Hydro Pump is Palkia's most powerful option for a Water-type STAB move and is strong enough to cleanly OHKO offensive Ho-Oh and 2HKO Geomancy Xerneas. Furthermore, Hydro Pump threatens a 2HKO on most bulky Steel-types that may try to switch in on a Dragon-type move. Spacial Rend is the preferred option for a Dragon-type STAB move due to a good mix of power and consistency, destroying any opposing Dragon-type it touches. Even specially defensive Primal Groudon is 2HKOed after Stealth Rock damage. Draco Meteor, on the other hand, provides more burst damage for certain targets. It notably has a decent chance to OHKO offensive Primal Groudon after Stealth Rock damage. Thunder allows Palkia to reliably 2HKO Primal Kyogre and OHKO Celesteela after Stealth Rock damage. Thunder's paralysis chance also makes it a useful tool for Palkia to deal with Lugia. Focus Punch cleanly OHKOes Blissey, which can otherwise switch into Palkia with impunity. Focus Punch will also leave Ferrothorn in critical-enough health to be taken out by Hydro Pump next turn. Fire Blast can be used instead to cleanly OHKO Ferrothorn and do more damage to Steel-types in general. However, Palkia cannot beat Blissey without Focus Punch, highly limiting its effectiveness against most stall teams. Furthermore, Fire Blast does not outdamage Hydro Pump against Necrozma-DM, one of the most common Steel-types in the metagame, thanks to Prism Armor. Set Details Palkia's Special Attack is maximized to optimize damage output. Maximum Speed with a Hasty nature allows Palkia to outspeed all non-Choice Scarf variants of Xerneas and Yveltal and below without weakening Focus Punch. A Mild nature gives Palkia more power while still retaining the ability to outspeed Xerneas and Yveltal if they do not run a Speed-increasing nature themselves. If not using Focus Punch, a Timid or Modest nature can be used instead to leave Palkia's bulk intact. A Naive or Rash nature may also be used to help Palkia switch more comfortably into physical variants of Primal Kyogre and Sunsteel Strike from Necrozma-DM. Life Orb maximizes Palkia's offensive strength while retaining flexibility in move choice. Usage Tips Although Palkia can be switched directly into a Pokemon it checks, such as Primal Kyogre or Necrozma-DM, it is generally better brought into battle when it doesn't need to take a hit, such as after a teammate is KOed, on a double switch, or through the use of U-turn or Volt Switch. This helps conserve Palkia's HP, as it lacks many resistances to exploit. Scouting for certain threats such as Choice Scarf Xerneas or Arceus-Fairy can be helpful to ensure Palkia's attacks are not wasted. Switching into Palkia is a daunting prospect for the foe, but choosing which move it should use can be a bit tricky, as both Hydro Pump and Spacial Rend have common immunities. One can make a more informed choice by taking into consideration Palkia's teammates. For example, if Palkia has Xerneas as a teammate, the opponent may be more willing to risk their Fairy-type against Palkia instead of Primal Groudon, allowing you to act accordingly. Focus Punch is best saved for an anticipated switch to Blissey. Bear in mind that the opponent can scout for Focus Punch if Palkia tries to use it when Blissey is already on the field. Try not to let Palkia get statused, as it may cut its longevity too short to be truly effective against a defensive team. Team Options Primal Groudon and Necrozma-DM cover Palkia against Fairy-types and provide Stealth Rock support to help get targets such as Lugia into Palkia's KO range. Both are also effective at softening up support Arceus formes through Toxic or powerful attacks. Because Palkia excels against defensive teams but falters against offense, it appreciates teammates that help cover it against the latter matchup. Marshadow and Choice Scarf users such as Xerneas and Yveltal are excellent anti-offense Pokemon. Yveltal is also an adept user of U-turn, granting extra switch-in potential. Rock Polish Primal Groudon and Double Dance Necrozma-DM are sweepers that can easily dismantle offensive teams as well. Mega Scizor and Magearna cover Palkia's weaknesses to Dragon- and Fairy-type attacks, and they can use U-turn or Volt Switch to help get Palkia into the fray. Swords Dance Arceus-Ground checks Primal Groudon and is a good choice to clean up once Palkia has dismantled the enemy's defensive core. It also appreciates Palkia's ability to switch into Primal Kyogre.

战术分析
Moves With decent Speed, massive Special Attack, and a wide assortment of coverage moves to back up its powerful STAB attacks, Palkia is a very effective wallbreaker. Spacial Rend is the chief STAB option for its power and reliability, easily 2HKOing Primal Groudon and most other Pokemon that don't resist it. Hydro Pump also gets STAB and complements Spacial Rend well, taking out most Fairy- and Steel-types that would try to stomach Spacial Rend in one or two hits. It is also slightly more powerful than Spacial Rend against targets neutral to both moves. Thunder allows Palkia to reliably 2HKO Primal Kyogre, even through a Calm Mind boost assuming Stealth Rock is up. Lugia and Arceus-Water are both reliably 2HKOed by Thunder as well, and the 30% chance of paralysis works as a strong deterrent against trying to stall out Palkia with recovery moves. Focus Punch allows Palkia to OHKO Blissey on the switch, which otherwise takes all of Palkia's attacks with ease. Ferrothorn also takes massive damage from Focus Punch, though it won't be OHKOed and Palkia will take significant recoil damage in return from Life Orb and Iron Barbs. If Klefki and Ferrothorn are more pressing concerns than Blissey, Fire Blast can be used instead of Focus Punch to destroy them both, though it should be noted that Klefki already takes massive damage from Hydro Pump. Fire Blast also hits the rare Arceus-Grass for heavy damage. Draco Meteor is also an option over Spacial Rend for a stronger Dragon-type STAB attack. It can be useful to get a guaranteed OHKO on Latias and to do more immediate damage to Primal Groudon and Dialga, but aside from that it doesn't get any KOs that Spacial Rend or Palkia's other attacks don't already manage. The drop in Special Attack after using Draco Meteor also gives sweepers such as Geomancy Xerneas and Rock Polish Primal Groudon an opening to set up on Palkia, which makes the consistency of Spacial Rend more appealing. Set Details Palkia needs the power of Life Orb to guarantee 2HKOs on Pokemon such as defensive Primal Groudon with Spacial Rend. A Timid nature boosts Palkia's Speed without lowering its defenses—Focus Punch still destroys Blissey even with the drop in Attack, so running a Hasty nature isn't necessary. Palkia should always run a nature that boosts Speed, as many Latios and support Arceus formes do not run Speed-boosting natures themselves due to the relative scarcity of Pokemon in the base 100 Speed tier, giving Palkia an easier time dealing with them. Usage Tips Palkia is pretty easy to use. Just bring it in against Primal Kyogre—or at least some defensive Pokemon slower than it—and start launching attacks. Try to predict what your opponent will switch in, as Palkia will generally be hitting most things for a 2HKO. For example, a common scenario is Palkia going up against a team with Primal Groudon and a Fairy-type such as Klefki or Xerneas, both of which take no damage from one of Palkia's STAB attacks and massive damage from the other. In this case, predicting which of the two the opponent might be more willing to preserve can help you choose which attack to use. Predicting the switch to Blissey isn't super important when using Focus Punch because it likes to forgo attacks to run Snatch, but it is still worth trying so Palkia doesn't take an unnecessary Toxic. Team Options Palkia likes entry hazard support to help deal with walls such as Lugia, as well as switch-ins to Fairy- and Dragon-type attacks. Primal Groudon is a solid answer to Fairy-types such as Xerneas and Klefki and also provides Stealth Rock support. In return, Palkia can come in against Primal Kyogre when Desolate Land is not active. Steel-types such as Klefki, Bronzong, and Aegislash have great synergy with Palkia, tanking Dragon- and Fairy-type attacks with ease while Palkia provides a switch-in to Fire- and Water-type moves in return. Klefki and Bronzong are especially useful because they provide Spikes and Stealth Rock respectively to help Palkia secure important KOs. Pokemon such as Arceus-Rock, Dialga, Lugia, and Tyranitar can also help handle physical Dragon-types such as Mega Salamence. Deoxys-S is a solid partner for more offensive teams because it can provide both Stealth Rock and Spikes. Trapping support can also be useful to take down specific foes Palkia may run into trouble against. Mega Gengar can eliminate Pokemon such as Arceus-Grass and Arceus-Fairy that Palkia can struggle to damage effectively. Mega Gengar can also take out Blissey if it lacks Shed Shell and Palkia doesn't want to use Focus Punch. Pursuit support from Tyranitar, Aegislash, or Mega Scizor can eliminate pesky targets such as Timid Latios, Latias, Deoxys-A, and Mega Gengar, all of which are faster than Palkia and can possibly revenge kill it. All of them appreciate Palkia's ability to switch into Primal Kyogre as well.

While Palkia does have a high base Speed for Ubers, it simply isn't high enough to sweep teams. Trick Room, although meant for much slower Pokemon, helps Palkia control Speed. With 0 Speed IVs and a Quiet nature, Palkia can "outspeed" all base 75s under Trick Room. This enables Palkia to outspeed all the base 90 Dragon-types that roam the tier, such as Zekrom and Reshiram. The rest of the moves help Palkia sweep when it sets up Trick Room. Spacial Rend is a strong, reliable STAB move that 2HKOes anything that doesn't resist it and isn't named Chansey. Hydro Pump boosted in the rain and by Lustrous Orb is a frightening move to face, OHKOing even 252 HP neutral Arceus formes and Lugia after Stealth Rock. Surf is a more reliable option but loses many OHKOs that Hydro Pump could achieve. The final choice comes down to which walls you want to harass more. Fire Blast OHKOes Ferrothorn in the rain after it has taken a Surf but is largely useless outside of that. Thunder deals massive damage to defensive Kyogre, which avoids getting 2HKOed by Spacial Rend, but it comes with a chance to paralyze enemies, which might hurt Palkia if it has used Trick Room. Palkia uses a spread of 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpA to make itself bulky and strong at the same time, but there are some alternative spreads that are also viable. For instance, if you want to use a physical move like Outrage to better hurt Chansey and defensive Kyogre, then a spread of 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 SpA with a Quiet nature can be used to maximize the damage output of Outrage. Palkia appreciates teammates that can provide entry hazard support so that its enemies can be weakened. In fact, after taking Stealth Rock damage, Palkia's Hydro Pump OHKOs Great Wall Lugia and 252 HP support Arceus hit neutrally by Palkia's Hydro Pump! Deoxys-A, Deoxys-S, Forretress, and Ferrothorn, thus, are great partners for Palkia as they can setup Stealth Rock and Spikes to whittle away at the enemy's health. Ferrothorn and Forretress in particular excel at this job due to their great synergy with Palkia. As an added bonus, Palkia can absorb Fire-type attacks fired at the two and use Trick Room to let them and itself move first. Forretress can also wall enemy Ferrothorn that threaten Palkia. Kyogre is a great partner for Palkia, too. It not only boosts the power of Hydro Pump and makes Thunder 100% accurate, but because Kyogre and Palkia share similar checks, Choice Specs Kyogre can be used to weaken opponents like Latias and Chansey down for Palkia. Pokemon that can stop Chansey, Ferrothorn, and Arceus-Grass in general are great partners for Palkia. Tornadus-T, Genesect, and Scizor do an exceptionally good job at this. All three can threaten Arceus-Grass with their STAB attacks and transfer momentum to Palkia with U-turn. Scizor in particular performs well at this role. Its low Speed enables it to not only help get Palkia in safely in by providing a slow U-turn but also benefit from the Trick Room Palkia sets, enabling it to hammer down walls if necessary. Palkia generally relies on its good bulk and its ability to bluff another set to set up Trick Room. If you want a more reliable way to get Palkia to set up Trick Room, however, you can use Wobbuffet. Wobbuffet can easily Encore Fire- and Water-type attacks for Palkia to set up on as well as kill troublesome foes with Mirror Coat and Counter. If you do not want to use Wobbuffet, giving dual screen support to help Palkia take a hit and set up is another viable idea. Latios deserves a special mention in this role, as it can use Memento after it has set up screens to help Palkia force an enemy to switch, which is a turn Palkia can use to set up Trick Room.

What used to be one of the best sets in DPP has certainly fallen from grace. However, Choice Scarf Palkia still serves as a nice glue for teams that desperately need a Kyogre check and a revenge killer in one Pokemon. Choice Scarf Palkia still maintains most of the same advantages it always had. The base 100 Speed is a major advantage for a Choice Scarf user in order to keep Dragon Dance Rayquaza variants in line. It also has the advantage of outspeeding Choice Scarf Genesect, by far the most common Choice Scarf user, which adds significantly to Palkia's ability to clean teams. Palkia's Water typing and signature Spacial Rend are two unique advantages it has as a cleaner as well. Surf is Palkia's most consistent and powerful move when you factor in rain support. Spacial Rend is almost just as important as it provides Palkia with an alternative move with consistently high power to clean up teams with, as well as hit the many bulky Dragon-types that resist Surf for super effective damage. Fire Blast allows Palkia to 2HKO Ferrothorn under the rain so that Palkia isn't utter Spikes fodder. Thunder rounds out the set by giving Palkia a means to hit Kyogre for super effective damage with a strong attack in order to fulfill its common role of Kyogre check. Outrage can be used to OHKO Latias after Stealth Rock even when using a Timid nature. Just be sure to move the leftover 4 EVs from HP into Attack when using Outrage to have a guaranteed chance to OHKO All-out attacker Latias. Draco Meteor is another useful move for its ability to outright OHKO Pokemon like Darkrai. For those who really like power, Hydro Pump can be used over Surf, although the shaky accuracy will eventually come back to haunt you. Sleep Talk is a possible move choice in order to turn your Palkia into a sleep absorber for Darkrai, but Palkia is already very stretched for moveslots. Rain support from Kyogre is very important to make Palkia as effective a cleaner as possible. Rain-boosted Surfs have the power to cleanly 2HKO max HP Arceus, which is often the core part of an offensive team's defensive backbone. It also makes Palkia a more effective revenge killer in general as it can drown threats such as Darkrai, Genesect, Tornadus-T, and often times even Mewtwo with a single Surf after Stealth Rock. That isn't to say that Choice Scarf Palkia should only be used on rain teams. Although it becomes far less effective, it still might find itself useful on a sand or sun team due to its ability to compress roles. If you happen to be considering Palkia for one of these teams, you can also consider using one of the alternative moves mentioned earlier, Draco Meteor and Outrage, in place of Surf. Keep in mind that, even on a sun team, Surf is beneficial for the possibility of cleaning up opposing rain teams. Ferrothorn is often one of the biggest troubles to Choice Scarf Palkia, as it can easily switch in on most of its unboosted, Choice-locked attacks and proceed to set up layers of Spikes or pester the rest of your team with Leech Seed. Even Fire Blast comes no where near OHKOing under the rain, forcing the Palkia user to perfectly predict the Ferrothorn switch-in twice in order to remove it. This inherent Ferrothorn weakness puts more pressure on your team to not share the same difficulty. It's also important to have a teammate that can quickly force Ferrothorn out such as Ho-Oh or Arceus-Fighting. Using a spinner is also not a wasted investment in the case that you find Ferrothorn setting up too many layers of Spikes on your field. Forretress is particularly effective at fighting off Ferrothorn as it can switch into any of its attacks, use Rapid Spin to remove any entry hazards and Leech Seed, and even set up Spikes itself thanks to Pain Split making it next to impossible for Ferrothorn to wear it down. As with any other viable Palkia variant, Chansey, Blissey, and Arceus-Grass are extremely difficult for Choice Scarf Palkia to beat. However, Arceus-Grass is somewhat easier to eventually muscle through as Choice Scarf Palkia outspeeds it, allowing Palkia to land an extra Spacial Rend before Arceus-Grass has a chance to use Recover. Being Choice-locked also opens up other potentially troublesome switch-ins such as Latias and Kyogre. Providing your team with some defensive backbone such as a Jirachi or Arceus-Grass can help remove the risk you take when selecting one attack over another with Choice Scarf Palkia. Although Choice Scarf Palkia is often used for its ability to revenge kill as well as check Kyogre, that doesn't mean it should be the only Kyogre check on your team. On the contrary, it's advised to add an additional Kyogre check as Choice Scarf Palkia is simply very inefficient at that role itself. Arceus-Grass, Latias, and Latios are some good examples of additional Kyogre checks that you can use. You can also choose to severely limit the number of free turns your team gives to the assorted Kyogre sets instead of adding a secondary Kyogre check. This can help Palkia indirectly by decreasing the number of times you have to resort to it to check Kyogre.

Although this set has intense competition from all-out attacker variants as a wallbreaker, there is certainly something to be said about possibly 2HKOing the likes of Ferrothorn with a resisted STAB. In general, Choice Specs Palkia OHKOes more and thus forces more switches than any other Palkia set. The strong STAB choices somewhat make up for the need to predict as a result of the inability to change moves. However, it does still run the risk of becoming setup fodder after its move choice has been revealed. Hydro Pump is the most important move on this set, as the power it has under rain is absolutely absurd. It cleanly 2HKOes Protect Blissey with Stealth Rock and a single layer of Spikes and also had a solid chance to OHKO bulky Arceus formes without any hazards up at all. Spacial Rend becomes quite formidable with a Choice Specs as well, being capable of 2HKOing max HP Arceus formes, such as Arceus-Grass, after Stealth Rock even if they Calm Mind after switching in. Draco Meteor is also impressive for those situations where you just want to nab a quick OHKO, such as against the likes of defensive Groudon, and then switch out afterwards. Fire Blast can be used instead of Draco Meteor to effortlessly wipe out Ferrothorn in the rain without having to put up with the fuss of Protect and insufficient hazards or prior damage. Thunder rounds out the set by giving Palkia a move to cleanly bust through specially defensive Kyogre with proper prediction. You can attempt to jam Surf someplace to have another option for when you don't want to risk the miss with Hydro Pump. Chansey and Arceus-Grass with some Special Defense investment remain an issue for Palkia. Specially defensive Kyogre can also be bothersome if you don't properly predict with Thunder. Therefore, Pokemon such as Ferrothorn, Skarmory, and Forretress are valuable teammates, especially as they can provide the Spikes support needed to secure multiple 2HKOs and OHKOs. Alternatively, simply having those Spikes early on, such as through a suicide lead like Deoxys-S or Deoxys-A, will allow Palkia to 2HKO these three nuisances as they attempt to switch in. You can also use something like Tornadus-T or Shaymin-S if you prefer to convert Chansey, Arceus-Grass, and specially defensive Kyogre into free turns for something offensive. This is especially effective as these three will likely have to spend their following turn using some form of recovery after switching into Palkia. Although the Chansey, Arceus-Grass, and specially defensive Kyogre are generally the safest switch-ins, Pokemon such as Latias and Arceus-Steel can absorb one of Palkia's STABs exceptionally well even if they do run the risk of an instant OHKO if Palkia opts for the other STAB. Because of this, it's good to have a teammate that can switch into these guys in case you predict poorly. Genesect and Arceus-Steel are good options to handle a smart Latias user while a Ho-Oh or Dialga can keep most Arceus-Steel in line. Choice Specs Palkia demands rain more than any other Palkia variant simply because of how obscenely powerful its Hydro Pumps become with that support. However, it's worth noting that the significantly stronger Spacial Rend and Draco Meteor are valuable when the weather changes to sun, as they allow Palkia to 2HKO bulky Arceus formes and Ho-Oh without Stealth Rock. Therefore, it is difficult to say that rain support is a must as Choice Specs Palkia remains threatening outside of rain and, of course, becomes even more dangerous when facing a rain team.

All-out attacker Palkia is gifted with the right amount of power and coverage to be able to 2HKO nearly the entire metagame without having to resort to a Choice Specs set. This makes it extremely effective at tearing apart defensive cores as it requires little to no prediction. The freedom to change attacks allows it to maintain momentum and avoid becoming setup fodder. The versatility this set offers also helps to make it unpredictable, further complicating the process of checking it. Spacial Rend is a reliable Dragon-type STAB and its ability to easily topple specially defensive Dragon-types like Giratina is what separates Palkia from other powerful Water-type special attackers. STAB Surf complements Spacial Rend excellently and is absurdly powerful under the rain, capable of 2HKOing bulky Arceus formes. Hydro Pump can be used in its place to secure more OHKOs than Surf; however, the inaccuracy is off-putting, and a rain-boosted Surf already 2HKOes everything you would use Hydro Pump for. Fire Blast is extremely important for 2HKOing Ferrothorn under rain and punishes Arceus-Grass outside of rain. Thunder is a solid option for the last slot as it allows Palkia to fully fill its common role of checking Kyogre. However, Dragon Tail is very useful for preventing Calm Mind Arceus formes from setting up on Palkia and, with entry hazard support, is effective at wearing down Palkia's few checks, making it the superior choice for teams that aren't quite as concerned with Kyogre. Keep in mind that specially defensive Kyogre becomes quite a nuisance to Palkia if it does decide to pass on Thunder. Lustrous Orb allows Palkia to OHKO Forretress with Surf after Stealth Rock as well as give a significant boost to Palkia's main STABs for general purposes. As Palkia's sole weakness is to Dragon-type attacks, Haban Berry allows Palkia to be an effective lure although at the price of power. Leftovers is another item choice that helps Palkia check Choice Scarf and defensive Kyogre more effectively; however, it misses out on the same power Haban Berry does. For those that dislike paralysis or burn from Kyogre's Thunder or Scald, Lum Berry is useful to keep Palkia in good condition. However, this is a one-time solution to a side effect of an already painful Thunder or a surely recurring burn from the long-lasting defensive Kyogre, making the loss in damage output all the more bothersome. Lastly, an Expert Belt can be used for those who would like to favor Palkia's super effective coverage options; however, its main STABs lose their consistent boost in power. Palkia can use Aqua Tail with a Hasty nature over Thunder and Dragon Tail to 2HKO Chansey. Focus Punch can also be used with a Hasty nature over Fire Blast to hit Chansey while retaining Thunder or Dragon Tail and not losing automatically to Ferrothorn. Substitute can be used with or without Focus Punch to punish switches and protect Palkia from status; however, the loss in coverage generally increases the number of checks to Palkia. For teams that struggle against Ho-Oh in the sun, Stone Edge can be used to deal significant damage to it. Outrage can be used with Haban Berry to OHKO Latias; however, the result of getting locked into Outrage makes this option mediocre at best. As dangerous and effective as Palkia is, it still appreciates team support to be at its best. Having a strong response to Chansey and Arceus-Grass, especially for rain teams, is worthwhile. Fortunately, these two are quite easy to take advantage of, leaving you with multiple options. Forretress, Skarmory, and Ferrothorn are generally safe switch-ins to both Chansey and Arceus-Grass and can set up Spikes or use Rapid Spin without much risk. Watch out for Calm Mind or Fire Blast Arceus-Grass variants that might set up or KO your Spikes setter however. Tornadus-T and Ho-Oh are good offensive options to deal with Palkia's two main counters, but they need to be careful of switching into Toxic or Ice Beam in the case of Tornadus-T. Genesect and Kyurem-W are also good answers to Arceus-Grass, although the former needs to watch out for Will-O-Wisp and Fire Blast. Also, keep in mind that Arceus-Grass can be built to give Genesect a Special Attack boost, making it difficult to take down with U-turn when hazards are up. Powerful Fighting-types, such as Terrakion, can be used to force Chansey out, although they do not like switching into Toxic. Even for Palkia that run Dragon Tail, Calm Mind Arceus formes are threatening enough that a check to them in some form is strongly suggested. Bulky Choice Specs and specially defensive Kyogre are fairly reliable checks to the majority of the Arceus formes that use Calm Mind. Besides direct checks, simply overloading the Arceus forme with offensive pressure from the likes of Mewtwo and Darkrai can wear it down enough to no longer threaten Palkia. Darkrai in particular is a helpful teammate as it is one of the few offensive checks to Calm Mind Arceus-Ghost, the most common and dangerous Calm Mind user, and has Dark Void to serve as a blanket solution to the other Calm Mind Arceus. Packing a Steel-type to switch into the Dragon-type attacks that Palkia attracts is helpful to avoid losing a Pokemon every time Palkia knocks something out. Latios and offensive Latias can be especially bothersome to handle if they manage to find themselves face-to-face with Palkia. Ferrothorn, Jirachi, Arceus-Steel, and Heatran are generally reliable switch-ins to these two. Genesect is also a note-worthy check with its STAB U-turn, however, its fragility means even resisted Draco Meteors take a sizable chunk out of its health. Spikes support is worthwhile for teams using Dragon Tail Palkia, as it allows Palkia to wear down its checks more quickly, reducing the need to predict switches as often. Forretress, Skarmory, and Ferrothorn are effective defensive Spikers that can also serve as Chansey or Arceus-Grass checks as mentioned above. Deoxys-S, Deoxys-A, and Froslass are some good examples of reliable suicide leads that can quickly set up layers of Spikes for offensive teams.

Palkia's higher Speed stat and STAB Aqua Tail are major differences that set it apart from Bulk Up Dialga. Kyogre support is highly recommended for this set because sunlight ruins the use of Palkia's primary attack: Aqua Tail. After a Bulk Up, Palkia's Attack and Defense stats become 508 and 354 respectively. Outrage is the secondary attack for this set. With Lustrous Orb and one Bulk Up, Outrage will inflict massive damage to almost anything that switches in, regardless of weather. Even Groudon will be 2HKOed by Outrage, unless it is extremely defensive. Aqua Tail boosted by rain is devastating for the opponent to handle. With Stealth Rock and Lustrous Orb, Lugia is 2HKOed if it attempts to switch in. Before Reflect, a +1 Aqua Tail in the rain does 62% minimum to the standard Bold 252 HP / 52 Def Lugia, and 31% minimum after Reflect is set up; thus the standard Lugia will often be defeated. Earthquake is mostly filler, but it always at least 2HKOes Metagross and Dialga after a Bulk Up, allowing a little more freedom for using Outrage. Dragon Claw is a fine option over Earthquake so that you can avoid untimely Outrages and maintain the ability to switch out. Lustrous Orb boosts Palkia's main STAB attacks by 20%, making it the ideal item for this set. Life Orb can also be used for a stronger Earthquake, however, Lustrous Orb is usually the preferred item due to the lack of recoil. While Bulk Up Palkia may be able to get past Bold Lugia, Timid Lugia can use its superior Speed stat to set up Reflect before Palkia hits it with a boosted Aqua Tail. Under Reflect, Timid Lugia can then use Roost to heal its self, and then Whirlwind Palkia away. Because this Palkia set focuses on setting a sweep with Bulk Up, Latias, Latios, and Choice Scarf Dialga will be more of an issue than usual, as they will now have the potential to switch in unharmed, and then OHKO Palkia with a STAB Dragon-type attack. Although they are not commonly switched in, Choice Scarf Palkia and Garchomp can revenge kill Bulk Up Palkia with ease. Wobbuffet makes a great partner to this set for several reasons. Wobbuffet can use its combination of Shadow Tag and either Counter or Mirror Coat to trap and revenge kill Choice Scarfed Dragon-types, such as Dialga, Palkia, and Garchomp. Wobbuffet can also Encore a support move or an attack that does little damage to Palkia (usually Water-type or Fire-type attacks), thus giving Palkia a free turn to set up. Finally, Wobbuffet has the option of using Tickle paired with a Pursuit user, such as Tyranitar or Scizor, to defeat Lugia. Even on their own, Pursuit users are great teammates for Bulk Up Palkia, due to their ability to trap and destroy Latias and Latios. Scizor is a particularly great user of Pursuit to pair with Palkia, because it can use its resistance to Dragon-type attacks to switch into not only Latias and Latios, but also into the assaults of Choice Scarfed Dragon-type Pokemon. Finally, Mewtwo can use Taunt and Calm Mind to easily set up on Lugia, while Darkrai can use Dark Void to put Lugia to sleep, and thus threaten to set up a sweep with Nasty Plot.

With status-inflicting moves everywhere, Palkia has plenty of chances to use Substitute. Furthermore, the combination of Substitute and Focus Punch help Palkia beat some of its counters, including the number one threat: Blissey. With Expert Belt and the given EVs, Focus Punch always OHKOes 651 HP / 119 Def Blissey. On top of that, Focus Punch is a 2HKO on most Dialga and Kyogre. Thunder works best in slot four to prevent Kyogre from setting up on Palkia, but with weather support, Surf and Fire Blast are also viable options. Expert Belt is preferred for guaranteeing an OHKO on Blissey with Focus Punch. Leftovers help Palkia recover health, thus allowing more uses of Substitute. With Stealth Rock, Focus Punch followed by Spacial Rend OHKOes Blissey most of the time. Despite the protection from Substitute, this Palkia still has trouble with Latias and specially defensive Groudon. Without Fire Blast, Forretress in the sun can also be a pain, as Thunder's 50% accuracy gives the steel bug plenty of time to set up entry hazards that could potentially ruin the rest of your team. Encore Wobbuffet also poses a huge problem, as it can then either KO Palkia or allow another sweeper to set up. Specially defensive Scizor can also break the Substitute with U-turn, allowing a Pokemon who is faster than Palkia to come in and revenge kill it. Groudon is once again a good teammate, as it can smack Latias and opposing Groudon with Toxic, and Forretress and Scizor will be roasted by Fire-type attack. Wobbuffet is also not going to like Toxic either. Speaking of Wobbuffet, it too makes a good teammate for Palkia, because it can use a combination of Encore, Shadow Tag, and Safeguard to turn many walls into set up bait. It can also revenge kill Latias, Groudon, and Scizor (be wary of U-turn) quite easily.

战术分析
This set's effectiveness stems from the fact that many of Palkia's counters invest heavily in their Special Defense stats, often neglecting their Defense. This, when combined with Palkia's underestimated 120 Attack stat, makes for a very effective surprise. Aqua Tail and Outrage make Palkia difficult for the opponent to handle. An effective "Double STAB" in the rain allows Aqua Tail to 2HKO any unsuspecting Lugia while decimating anything else that attempts to switch in. Outrage gives Palkia the ability to hit Aqua Tail-resistant Pokemon for a 2HKO. Earthquake shuts down Metagross and Dialga, however one should be extremely careful: with so many Flying-types and Levitators, avoid using Earthquake until you are sure they don't have a Pokemon who is immune to Ground-type moves, like Rayquaza, waiting in the wings. Stone Edge enables Palkia to 2HKO Lugia should the rain be absent. It also prevents Shedinja from safely switching into Palkia and burning it with Will-O-Wisp. Dragon Claw gives Palkia a consistent STAB that doesn't lock it into Outrage early in the game. Choice Scarf is also an acceptable item on this set. Palkia misses the boost in power, however it is able to outspeed and revenge kill many more Pokemon, which can prove advantageous on certain teams. Choice Band Palkia has issues with Timid Lugia, as it can survive almost anything and Roost off the damage, and then set up Reflect and wear away at Palkia's HP with Toxic. Latias and Giratina can take anything but Outrage and will decimate Palkia with their STAB Dragon-type moves. Impish Groudon can turn off the rain with Drought, allowing it to take even Aqua Tail, and will shred Palkia with Dragon Claw. Skarmory, Forretress, and Bronzong can all survive any of Palkia's attacks barring rain boosted Aqua Tails, and can either pick away at it with Toxic or use the turn to set up entry hazards. Finally, like most of the other Palkia sets, this set is vulnerable to being revenge killed by Choice Scarfers, such as Dialga, Palkia, and Garchomp. Kyogre is an excellent teammate because it can easily drown Groudon, Skarmory, Bronzong, and Forretress with Surf; blast Lugia and Giratina with Ice Beam; and can lure in and cripple Latias, Choice Scarf Dialga, and opposing Choice Scarf Palkia with Thunder Wave. Magnezone can trap and destroy Steel-types with Thunder, allowing Palkia to use Outrage with impunity. Magnezone can also take Dragon-type attacks from Dialga, Palkia, and Garchomp and can respond with Thunder or Hidden Power Ice. Furthermore, Lugia is also completely walled by Magnezone, and cannot do anything while the steel magnet roasts it with Thunder. As always, Scizor is a good partner, since it can trap and KO Latias with Pursuit, and can also switch in on the Dragon-type attacks coming Palkia's way. Mixed Dialga can also lure in Groudon and Lugia and can destroy them with Draco Meteor and Thunder, respectively. It can also melt Steel-types with Fire Blast, rip Latias to shreds with Dragon Claw, and use the previously mentioned Draco Meteor to crush Giratina.

Palkia is an absolute terror with Kyogre support. In the rain, Surf and Aqua Tail receive a significant boost in power and Thunder becomes 100% accurate. Spacial Rend is a powerful STAB move that 2HKOes Giratina, bulky Dialga, and Latias. Aqua Tail is important for 2HKOing max Defense Blissey, who otherwise walls this set. Outrage also works here, as it isn't reliant on weather and hits many Pokemon in Ubers for either neutral or super effective damage. Thunder severely damages Kyogre and Lugia, and also has a 30% chance of paralyzing them. Fire Blast allows Palkia to destroy many of the Steel-types in Ubers, such as Scizor, Forretress, and Metagross, and allows this Palkia to comfortably sweep in either rain or sun. In Ubers, many Pokemon are neutral to or resist Water-type attacks. Super effective damage, however, is not necessary. In the rain, even Pokemon who take neutral damage from Water-type attacks are at the very least 2HKOed by Surf or Aqua Tail. Furthermore, any Dragon- and Water-type Pokemon who attempt to sponge your Water-type moves are easily dispatched by Spacial Rend and Thunder, respectively. Lustrous Orb gives Palkia's Water- and Dragon-type moves a x1.2 boost. Life Orb gives Palkia more power and versatility, but at the cost of 10% of Palkia's health per attack. On the other hand, Haban Berry is useable to remove Palkia's lone weakness to Dragon-type attacks. Timid is an acceptable nature if you have Aqua Tail, as it will still 2HKO Blissey 37% of the time with Stealth Rock and Leftovers factored in, assuming rain is active. However, Hasty is usually superior to get the guaranteed 2HKO on Blissey. While the greater power and ability to switch attacks can make this set even deadlier then the Choice Scarf set, this Palkia still has trouble with Latias, who can come into anything but Outrage, and OHKO the always-slower Palkia with Dragon Pulse. Thanks to Drought, Specially Defensive Groudon can take all of Palkia's attacks, and threaten it back with Dragon Claw. Timid Lugia can use Light Screen or Toxic and potentially outstall Palkia, however, it risks getting paralyzed by Thunder. Palkia is more vulnerable to being revenged killed by Pokemon such as Choice Scarf Dialga, opposing Choice Scarf Palkia, Garchomp (who doesn't need a Choice Scarf this time because Garchomp is naturally faster than Palkia), and Darkrai. Scizor is once again a good teammate, because it can take any Dragon-type attack thrown at Palkia and smack Dialga and Palkia with Superpower, Garchomp with Bullet Punch, and Latias and Darkrai with U-turn. Kyogre's name also gets a second mention, as it annihilates Lugia and Groudon with Thunder and Surf, respectively. It is worth noting, however, that Kyogre has to switch into Groudon, not the other way around, to ensure favorable weather conditions. This Palkia set has a tendency to lure out and KO Blissey, and Steel-type Pokemon who will be expecting the more common Choice Scarf set. Therefore you want to pair it with a Pokemon who will thrive once Blissey and Steel-types are out of the picture. Choice Specs Dialga is a great example of this, since it can bulldoze through teams with its powerful Draco Meteor. Calm Mind Mewtwo and Nasty Plot Darkrai also make great partners, since they can easily set-up and sweep once Pokemon such as Blissey and Scizor are in the graveyard.

战术分析
Palkia makes an excellent Choice Scarf candidate. With a devastating 150 base Special Attack, Palkia can do huge amounts of damage even without a boosting item. With a Choice Scarf, Palkia reaches an impressive 492 Speed, a Speed that Rayquaza cannot match even after a Dragon Dance. In fact, Deoxys-S is the only Pokemon who can reach this Speed without a Choice Scarf of its own. The choice between Draco Meteor and Spacial Rend comes down to raw power versus consistency. Draco Meteor allows Palkia to OHKO max HP / min SpD Giratina with Stealth Rock, but Spacial Rend is generally preferred in that slot because of greater reliability. Draco Meteor also gives Palkia the ability to OHKO Minimum HP / Minimum SpD Darkrai 92% of the time. Surf is generally Palkia's most reliable attack. In the rain, it is a 2HKO on Wobbuffet, who normally eats Choice Pokemon for breakfast. It also OHKOes the omnipresent Darkrai, who otherwise beats Palkia with Dark Void. Thunder may seem situational, but it is necessary to keep Kyogre at bay, and also is your best option against Lugia. The last slot simply depends on which Pokemon threaten you the most. With Stealth Rock, Outrage can 2HKO min HP / max Def Blissey 87% of the time, and also OHKOes Latias (Spacial Rend only 2HKOes it). Putting Draco Meteor in this slot gives Palkia a powerful attack without losing the reliability of Spacial Rend. When combined with Surf, Fire Blast gives Palkia more dependability, as it allows Palkia to sweep well in any weather. Roost Ho-Oh in the sun is the number one best check against Choice Scarf Palkia. Ho-Oh only fears Thunder, and with only 50% accuracy, it is far from reliable. During a sandstorm, Tyranitar also makes a decent check, but without an instant recovery move it is troubled by repeated attacks, particularly Spacial Rend and Surf. Wobbuffet will almost always beat Palkia one-on-one, as only a rain-boosted Surf is strong enough to 2HKO Wobbuffet. Similarly, Palkia needs Outrage to beat Blissey, who otherwise can wall it all day, and wear it down with Seismic Toss or Toxic. Dialga is only 2HKOed by Spacial Rend or a sun-boosted Fire Blast, and laughs at just about anything else Palkia has to offer. As with most Choice sets, there are many Pokemon who can beat Palkia, as long as your opponent guesses correctly, or first scouts your attack with Protect. Latias only fears Dragon-typed attacks, while those same attacks will not even faze Steel-types, such as Scizor and Metagross. A supportive Groudon is a great teammate for Palkia. STAB Earthquake scares off Blissey, Dialga, and most Steel-types. Toxic cripples Wobbuffet, Lugia, Latias, and opposing Groudon, and a Dragon Claw quickly dispatches a Choice Scarfed Garchomp. Kyogre can use Sleep Talk to beat Darkrai, bypassing the threat of Dark Void, and hopefully KOing Darkrai with Surf. Kyogre also does well against other Palkia threats, such as Groudon, Scizor, and Metagross. The powerful Brave Bird makes Ho-Oh difficult to switch into, so your best bet is to use something faster than Ho-Oh with Stone Edge, such as faster versions of Groudon or Garchomp. Scizor can take any Dragon-type attack thrown at Palkia, and can destroy many of Palkia's other checks, such as Wobbuffet and Blissey, with U-turn and Superpower, respectively.

Choice Specs makes Palkia's already excellent Special Attack swell to enormous heights, and it is then able to 2HKO many of the Uber Pokemon with just its two STAB moves alone. Even Steel-types will take hefty damage from resisted attacks, leaving Blissey as the only reliable switch in for this monster. Choice Specs Palkia is usually pushed aside in favor of Choice Specs Dialga who has more numerous resistances to switch in on and a Toxic Spikes immunity. However, Palkia has better offensive type-coverage, and a slightly higher Speed stat, which lets it outpace base 90 and 95 Speed Pokemon, such as Dialga, Groudon, Giratina-O, Ho-Oh, Kyogre, and Rayquaza. Draco Meteor is going to be Palkia's main attack, absolutely smashing every Pokemon who doesn't resist it. Surf provides very good neutral coverage with Draco Meteor, hitting every Pokemon in the game for neutral damage, except Shedinja and Empoleon, neither of whom is seen in Ubers that much, if at all. In the rain, Surf is just as dangerous as Draco Meteor, severely damaging most of the Steel-types used in Ubers. Hydro Pump has less accuracy, but much more power than Surf. With Hydro Pump, you stand a much better chance of winning against Blissey. Thunder fries Kyogre, Lugia, and Manaphy. Fire Blast can be used in its place, if you want more power against pesky Steel-types. It can also be used in place of Surf, but only if you have sun support from Groudon. Fire Blast also 2HKOes most Groudon variants and OHKOes most Steel-types in the sun. Few Pokemon can switch into the sheer power of Choice Specs Palkia. Scizor barely manages to outstall Draco Meteor with Roost, and loses to pretty much any other attack. Jirachi works pretty much the same way with Wish and Protect, but it does a much better job of taking Palkia's other attacks, and can use Toxic to whittle down Palkia's HP. Lugia needs to be faster in order to win against Palkia, otherwise it will be outsped and KOed next turn. Blissey is the only 100% safe switch in for this set, as she will shrug off any hit thanks to her high Hit Point and Special Defense stats. Tickle Wobbuffet, paired with a Pursuit user, such as Scizor or Tyranitar, is an almost assured way to get rid of Blissey and Lugia, allowing Palkia to rip apart the opposing team without much trouble. Groudon can poison Lugia with Toxic, and smash Blissey, Scizor, and Jirachi with Earthquake. Rest + Sleep Talk Kyogre with Calm Mind can also set up on any of the aforementioned threats. Palkia must be careful of Pokemon who may come in to revenge kill it or set up on it after a KO. Groudon can come in after a Draco Meteor or Thunder and use Rock Polish to set up for a sweep. Garchomp can come in on Thunder or Fire Blast and either KO Palkia with Outrage or set up Swords Dance and start sweeping. Lucario can also swap in after a Special Attack drop from Draco Meteor and use Swords Dance, although Lucario will still take well around 50% damage from a -2 Draco Meteor. Kyogre can switch in on anything but Thunder or a full power Draco Meteor and destroy Palkia with a Choice Specs-boosted Thunder or set up on it with Calm Mind. Lastly, Wobbuffet can switch into anything but the initial Draco Meteor, or a rain-boosted Water-type attack, and can then trap Palkia and KO it with Mirror Coat. Lugia can handle Groudon, Garchomp, and Lucario as long as it has Reflect, and Latias is a nice answer to Kyogre, being able to Calm Mind up alongside it and destroy it with Grass Knot. There is not much you can do about Wobbuffet trapping you, but before you bring Palkia out, you can try to lure in and weaken Wobbuffet with a mixed attacker who may usually run a Choice item, such as Expert Belt Mixed Dialga. Wobbuffet is then unable to score revenge kill once its health is at 40% or lower.

Palkia is one of the few viable Pokemon in Ubers that has access to Trick Room, and despite its relatively high Speed stat, Palkia can use Trick Room quite effectively to become a nasty sweeper. Palkia separates itself from other Trick Room users with its unique typing, as this gives it ample opportunities to set up Trick Room, especially in a tier with Choiced Water Spouts and Bullet Punches flying around. Spacial Rend and Surf are two very powerful attacks when backed up by STAB and a Lustrous Orb boost, and they allow Palkia to nail virtually the entire Ubers metagame for at least neutral damage. Palkia is especially devastating in the rain, as a boosted Surf will always OHKO Mewtwo and Darkrai, and it will also take out Scizor in one shot after Stealth Rock. The last move is a bit tricky, but generally Outrage is given the nod for its ability to 2HKO Blissey. However, Fire Blast is an option if you aren't using Drizzle support and want to hit bulky Steel-types like Jirachi, while Thunder is a good choice if you find yourself needing a way to eliminate Lugia in one shot after Stealth Rock damage. Lustrous Orb should generally be the item of choice because it further boosts Palkia's powerful STABs, but Haban Berry is a decent alternative in order for Palkia to survive any unboosted Dragon-type attack and set up Trick Room. Palkia is extremely dependent on Drizzle support from Kyogre, as various Pokemon will give Palkia headaches in the sun. Jirachi and Scizor can eat Surfs all day as long as sun is up, while Lugia can outstall Trick Room with Roost as long as it isn't raining. Other problematic Pokemon arise depending on what Palkia opts for a third attack. Without Outrage, Blissey will wall Palkia with impunity, and Latias will also become an issue since it can survive a Spacial Rend and nail Palkia with a Soul Dew boosted Dragon Pulse. Wobbuffet is a unique threat, but it is a legitimate problem for Palkia, because it can switch in as Palkia uses Trick Room and Encore Palkia first since it will be faster as long as Trick Room is active. When choosing partners for Palkia, Kyogre is undoubtably the first Pokemon you should consider, as it provides Palkia with infinite rain to sweep under. Kyogre can also be given minimum Speed to sweep when Trick Room is active. Wobbuffet is another great partner for Palkia, especially if Palkia isn't using Haban Berry, since it can trap and OHKO faster Dragon-types attempting to revenge kill it. In addition, Wobbuffet can use Encore to help Palkia set up. When paired with a Pursuit user, Wobbuffet can effectively use Tickle to eliminate Blissey and Lugia, both of which give Palkia its fair share of problems. Scizor is the best choice to do this, as it resists Dragon-type attacks aimed at Palkia, while its low Speed means it can utilize Trick Room effectively. Bronzong makes a solid partner for Palkia thanks to its great synergy, while it can also use Trick Room and Explosion to allow Palkia to come in without having to waste a turn setting up. Although this set is quite offensive in nature, Palkia still stands erect as a premier Kyogre counter, and can therefore be added to teams that find themselves susceptible to the enormous whale.

While Palkia's monstrous Base 150 Special Attack means that its Spacial Rends and Surfs are among the most powerful attacks in Ubers, it also has a very useable Base 120 Attack, allowing it to use a physical Trick Room set effectively. Not only does this set lure Palkia's common counters, most notably Blissey, but it can also surprise a wide variety of Pokemon in Ubers, as most walls focus on sponging special attacks. Even though this set works nicely as a lure, it is still a powerful stand-alone sweeper, since Palkia can muscle its way past speedy foes like Mewtwo, Shaymin-S, and Darkrai after it sets up a Trick Room. Palkia's famed Dragon- and Water-type STABs are once again put on display with this set. Outrage and Aqua Tail are extremely powerful when boosted by Lustrous Orb, and Aqua Tail gains an additional boost from Kyogre's eternal rain. Aqua Tail is what really makes this set deadly, as it punishes most of the prominent counters to Palkia's special Trick Room set. Blissey, who laughs at Palkia's special attacks, takes upwards of 80% from Aqua Tail, while other walls like Lugia and Wobbuffet are 2HKOed as well. Outrage complements Aqua Tail by smacking around Pokemon that resist Water, namely opposing Dragon-types. Kyogre and Dialga are both 2HKOed by Outrage, while Latias, Latios, and other Palkia stand no chance. Draco Meteor is mainly to hit Groudon, but it's also useful if you need to use a Dragon-type attack but don't want yourself to be locked into Outrage. Fire Blast is an option because it still dents Groudon, and it also gives you an attack to roast Steel-types in the sun. Finally, Haban Berry can be used as Palkia's item if you find your team weak to Dragon-type Pokemon, and it will allow Palkia to set up a Trick Room against the likes of Latias, Latios, and Giratina-O. As always, Palkia runs into trouble against Steel-types when it isn't raining. Scizor, Jirachi, and Skarmory are the main culprits, as they can take Aqua Tails fairly well in the sun and will outstall Trick Room with their recovery moves. Forretress may not be able to do much back to Palkia, but it'll laugh at Aqua Tail in the sun, allowing it to set up entry hazards with ease. While they're both 2HKOed by Aqua Tail in the rain, Lugia and Wobbuffet pose quite a few problems. If Lugia switches into Palkia as it uses Trick Room, it can stall Palkia with Roost until Trick Room's effect subsides, and then hit it with a debilitating Toxic. Wobbuffet can come in on Trick Room and Encore Palkia before it can attack since Wobbuffet will be slower once Trick Room is active. Palkia absolutely needs Kyogre's Drizzle support to work effectively, as it lets Palkia use Aqua Tail to defeat Steel-types that would otherwise wall it. Palkia can actually support Kyogre as well, since it will often lure and KO Blissey, allowing Kyogre to sweep with much greater ease. Wobbuffet and Scizor can be used in tandem to eliminate Lugia, as Wobbuffet's Tickle and Scizor's Pursuit will put the giant bird out of commission very quickly. Wobbuffet is also a great individual teammate to Palkia because it can trap and KO troublesome Dragon-types, and can utilize Encore to give Palkia a free turn to set up Trick Room. Other Trick Room sweepers make good partners to Palkia. Dialga gets particular mention since it can use a mixed set to easily rid the field of pesky Steel-types.

At a quick glance this set may appear to be similar to the other Mixed Palkia set; however, this set instead focuses on Palkia's overlooked Attack stat. With the given EVs, Palkia will do 75.9% - 89.4% to a standard Wish Blissey with Aqua Tail if rain is active, meaning that it can OHKO with Stealth Rock up (guaranteed with Spikes); it is only a 2HKO without rain, however. Aqua Tail can also 2HKO a Tyranitar even in sandstorm, a feat that Palkia cannot accomplish with Surf. Outrage can be an answer to Kyogre, dealing 50% damage on even the bulkiest of Kyogre. Lustrous Orb means Spacial Rend is doing just as much damage as with the Choice Scarf set. Fire Blast will scare off Steel-types, but Surf is more consistent in general. Thunder is also an option for Lugia and "sun-screened" Ho-Oh. Lustrous Orb is a must on this specific set, since it raises Palkia's Dragon- and Water-type moves by 20% with no limiting effects. With it, Palkia can "bluff" the item it is holding, creating the illusion of a Choice Scarf (because there is no recoil and the damage output of special attacks is about the same). Hasty is the best choice of nature here, since it doesn't lower either of the attack stats, maintaining the opportunity for crucial KOs. Also, the ability to absorb special attacks, such as Water Spout, is important, so a Naive nature is not used. This set still has a lot of the same problems from the previous Mixed set, who are Latias, Ho-Oh, Timid Lugia with Screens, extremely defensive Groudon, and revenge killers, so any of the partners with the previous set will work just as well with this one. This Palkia also needs to be wary of physically defensive variants of Mewtwo, who can outspeed Palkia and completely shatter its Attack with Will-O-Wisp, ruining its ability to break past Blissey. Kyogre can easily decimate both Mewtwo and Ho-Oh with its powerful rain-boosted Water-type attacks, and it doesn't mind taking a burn.
