This set aims to use Persian's small niches, which are Technician, its high Speed, its access to Nasty Plot, and its decent coverage options, to make it a threatening setup sweeper. However, its poor defensive presence ultimately holds it back, as it can't safely switch into anything, struggles to comfortably set up, and is easy to revenge kill. To make matters worse, its low Special Attack basically makes setting up a requirement if Persian wishes to hit hard, and it also means that even at +2, Persian doesn't hit very hard.

Moves Nasty Plot provides a boost to Persian's Special Attack, allowing it to hit as hard as possible. Hyper Voice is Persian's main STAB move, hitting for respectable damage while also hitting opposing foes behind Substitute. Hidden Power Ghost provides coverage against Ghost-types such as Misdreavus and Gourgeist, which are immune to Hyper Voice as well as Psychic-types such as Kadabra, Beheeyem, and Soundproof Mr. Mime, which is immune to Hyper Voice. Water Pulse provides Persian with coverage against Rock-types such as Golem and Probopass, which resist Persian's Normal-type STAB attack, and also OHKOes Pawniard after a Nasty Plot and Stealth Rock damage. Substitute is an option in the last moveslot, as it allows Persian to set up Nasty Plot easier while dodging Sucker Punch and status. Set Details Maximum Special Attack EVs allow Persian to hit as hard as possible. Maximum Speed investment along with a Timid nature allows Persian to Speed tie with Floatzel and opposing Persian while outspeeding everything below that. The rest of the EVs are placed into Defense to let Persian take slightly less damage from priority attacks while maintaining an odd HP number to minimize entry hazard damage. Life Orb is the preferred item to boost the power of all of Persian's attacks at the cost of longevity. Technician is Persian's preferred ability, providing a boost to Persian's coverage moves with 60 Base Power or less. Usage Tips As Persian is frail and has a bad defensive typing, it shouldn't be switching into attacks. Instead, bring Persian in after a teammate has fainted; from a slow Volt Switch or U-turn; or on a predicted Ghost-type attack. Try to set up Nasty Plot on predicted switches or against Pokemon that Persian can force out, such as Kadabra and Dodrio. Be mindful of using attacks that opposing Pokemon resist or are immune to, as Life Orb recoil wears Persian down over time. Also keep in mind that being poisoned or paralyzed hampers Persian immensely, so keep Persian as healthy as possible. Persian is best used as a late-game sweeper once bulkier foes, Pokemon faster than Persian, and priority users such as Monferno are eliminated or weak enough to the point where Persian can take them out. Team Options Persian appreciates entry hazard support from Pokemon such as Golem, Roselia, Stunfisk, and Venipede, as they turn 2HKOs into OHKOs on Pokemon such as Regice and Jumpluff with Hyper Voice after a boost. Wallbreakers that can weaken bulkier Pokemon, such as Simipour, can wear down the opposing team, allowing Persian to sweep more efficiently. Psychic- and Flying-types, such as Beheeyem and Dodrio, can handle Fighting-types for Persian. Meowstic and Solrock can provide dual screen support for Persian, making it easier for Persian to set up Nasty Plot. Support from Healing Wish Mr. Mime revives a weakened Persian, giving Persian a second chance at sweeping. Rapid Spin support from Pokemon such as Avalugg helps out Persian, as Persian is to all forms of entry hazards.

As the tier's fastest unboosted Pokemon, Persian establishes itself as an elite revenge killer. Technician-boosted Fake Out chips away at fast attackers like Jumpluff, Frogadier, and Simipour, which can put them into KO range of Return. Knock Off cripples defensive switch-ins like Bronzor, Gigalith, and Lairon, while U-turn pivots away from the aforementioned Pokemon. Persian's excellent Speed and utility movepool enable it to fit on a variety of VoltTurn teams. Volt Switch and U-turn users like Electabuzz, Pikachu, and Frogadier stand out as great examples of fast pivots that can build up momentum against the opposition. Slow pivots like Dustox, Vibrava, and defensive Klang enable Persian to hit the field more safely, with the first two even reducing Persian's susceptibility to entry hazards via Defog. Even with Knock Off and U-turn, Persian severely struggles against Rock- and Steel-types like Gigalith and Klang; checks to them like Hippopotas and Pignite can address these weaknesses. Physical walls like Ivysaur and Hippopotas can be difficult for Persian to break down, even with Knock Off, so wallbreakers like Choice Specs Vanilluxe and Magmar can give Persian an easier time cleaning late-game.

This set aims to scout your opponent's team while maintaining offensive momentum. Fake Out always causes a flinch and packs decent power when boosted by Technician. U-turn keeps up momentum by bringing in an appropriate check or counter to whatever is out on the field. Taunt prevents the target from using non-attacking moves, which shuts down walls such as Alomomola and also prevents entry hazards, a great plus because of Persian's tendency to switch. Bite can be used instead of Taunt as it allows Persian to hurt Ghost-types, packing decent power with Technician and a good chance to cause a flinch. Keep in mind, however, that pairing Persian with a Ghost-type check handles most Ghost-types well enough, meaning that Bite is often unnecessary. Return is used as a strong STAB attack that can finish off any weakened opponents. A Jolly nature is used to allow Persian to outspeed max Speed Scolipede and Serperior. A Life Orb is used to further improve Persian's damage output, but a Silk Scarf can be used instead to avoid stacking recoil with entry hazard damage. Hypnosis can be used over Taunt or Bite to put foes to sleep, but with only 60% accuracy, it's not a very reliable move. This set fits on more offensive teams by giving them Taunt support and scouting for items and movesets with Fake Out and U-turn. Defensively, anything that can switch in on strong attacks aimed at Persian after it U-turns makes for a great partners. Pivot Musharna can sponge most physical attacks aimed at Persian, namely Fighting-type attacks, and then either set up with Calm Mind or Baton Pass out to something else if it causes a switch. Choice Scarf Braviary and Sawk appreciate Persian's Fake Out support to handle threats that they can't outspeed. Pretty much any offensive Pokemon enjoys the favorable match-ups Persian can set up with U-turn, especially anything that resists or is immune to Fighting-type attacks, such as Golurk or Scolipede.

While equipping the fastest Pokemon in the tier with a Choice Scarf sounds like a joke, Choice Scarf Persian holds the unique distinction of outrunning many Pokemon after they boost or even double their Speed, as well as revenge killing Pokemon that use Endure to ignore Fake Out. U-turn is a great pivoting tool to take advantage of predicted switches, but it also allows Persian to attack while switching out, which avoids being locked into a suboptimal move. Choice Scarf Persian is also one of the best tools for a defensive team against other defensive teams, as Switcheroo can ruin regular Persian checks like Solrock and Wormadam-T.

Persian is the fastest Pokemon with access to all of a weather-setting move, U-turn, and Taunt, which lets it set ideal conditions for Pokemon reliant on weather. Return is the necessary STAB move that allows Persian to threaten damage on its own, but Double-Edge is an alternative to apply more pressure. This Persian set should find itself alongside weather attackers and support Pokemon. On rain teams, Agility Pelipper and Beartic are excellent wallbreakers, and they can clean through weakened teams with their incredible power and Speed under rain. Raichu can make use of a perfectly accurate Thunder under rain, and its Nasty Plot boosted Hidden Power Ice helps wear down Grass-types like Meganium and Ivysaur for Water-type teammates they might wall otherwise. Kingler and Walrein under rain are terrifying threats, using the power boost to destroy all but the bulkiest of checks. Persian cannot keep up weather all on its own, though, and it should pair with other Rain Dance users for consistency. Phione has the best defensive profile of the Rain Dance users, and it utilizes Hydration and Water-type STAB moves to be surprisingly difficult to handle. Illumise is another option, able to use a slow U-turn while setting priority Rain Dance for endgames against fast cleaners.

Flaunting the highest Speed stat in the tier, a deep movepool, and decent offensive stats paired with the incredible ability Technician, Persian takes its place at the top of the metagame as an incredible revenge killer and wallbreaker. Technician-boosted Fake Out is the lynchpin of this Persian set, giving it a strong priority attack that racks up damage with its guaranteed flinch as well as allowing Persian to pick off weakened Speed-boosted Pokemon like Shelgon or Choice Scarf users. The choice of STAB move between Return and Double-Edge comes down to the pacing of the team, as more aggressive teams might need the improved damage of Double-Edge, while more balanced teams can afford to let Persian play more conservatively with its HP. U-turn allows Persian to keep momentum on predicted switches as well as chip important targets like Solrock and Lairon with the help of Stealth Rock. Taunt is an overall good utility move that lets Persian deny status moves such as Thunder Wave and Will-O-Wisp as well as prevent recovery moves from Pokemon that Persian needs to keep at low HP. Knock Off is another good option that lets Persian ruin unevolved walls like Clefairy and Hippopotas while being generally difficult to switch in against. The final common option that Persian makes use of is Bite, which lets Persian muscle through a relatively hard counter in Frillish, while still outputting good damage against Solrock. Despite no other Pokemon in BW ZU approaching Persian's Speed tier, maximum Speed investment is used in order to outspeed Jolly Whiscash after a boost as well as to tie with other Persian. This Persian set fits best on balance and offensive teams. Balance appreciates Persian's ability to revenge kill and force out a variety of attackers as well as wear down other balance and defensive teams through attacks, U-turn, and its disruption moves. Mienfoo is a stellar partner as its Regenerator and U-turn form a solid pivot core; Persian appreciates such a reliable answer to Lairon, while Mienfoo can cripple Eviolite-reliant walls such as Hippopotas, as well as pivot Persian in for opportunities to throw out attacks. Persian really appreciates Stealth Rock in order to make the constant switches it forces more painful, and Pokemon like Solrock, Wormadam-S, Clefairy, and Lairon are all excellent setters. Persian is also a great facilitator of powerful wallbreakers like Simisear and Glaceon, which lack opportunities to directly switch in. If Persian is being used on a more offensive team, Persian is great at baiting in Pokemon that resist Double-Edge like Solrock and Lairon for certain setup sweepers such as Substitute Leafeon and Dragon Dance Whiscash, respectively.

This combination allows Persian to still lure in and snipe Lairon and other Steel-types while pivoting out of poor matchups, like Wormadam-T and Solrock. Water Pulse is used to hit Rock- and Ground-types like Lairon, Solrock, and Hippopotas. Knock Off allows Persian to cripple Pokemon that have little issue walling a Persian without Silk Scarf, such as Clefairy or defensive Leafeon. Fake Out lets Persian retain its priority, although it's a notably weaker option without Silk Scarf. This Persian pairs best with teammates that appreciate its ability to lure in regular checks to Persian. Emolga takes incredible advantage of weakened Lairon and Solrock, as this opens up the opposing team to its powerful Acrobatics. Dragon Dance Shelgon also exploits the absence of Steel-types, as it can click Outrage and Dragon Claw without worry. Pikachu and Raichu appreciate that bulky Grass-types are often used to check Persian after this set has been revealed; they're allowed more opportunities to throw out their powerful Electric-type attacks once Persian weakens Meganium or Ivysaur. Offensive Stealth Rock users pair well with this aggressive Persian set, like Lairon, Solrock, and Graveler.

Persian sits at a great base 115 Speed stat, which outpaces many of the common Fake Out users, losing only to Weavile and the weather Fake Out users, namely Ludicolo and Shiftry. Protect keeps Persian alive for one turn (and more importantly, it keeps Unnerve active). The other two moves are mostly filler, and there is a lot Persian can do with the extra slots. Charm annoys physical Fighting-types in particular, and Feint removes enemy Protects, allowing you to gang up on whatever threatens you the most without worry. When running something over Night Slash, you must be careful not to let yourself get walled by Ghost-, Rock-, or Steel-types, however. As Persian isn't the Pokemon that's going to sweep teams, pairing it up with Pokemon that can take advantage of Unnerve and Fake Out make great teammates. Mamoswine loves to KO Garchomp right through Yache Berry with an Ice Gem boosted Ice Shard, and most teams appreciate the absence of Chople Berry Tyranitar. Persian has a hard time dealing with Ghost-types, so Pokemon that can take care of them, such as Chandelure, Hydreigon, and Krookodile are good teammates too. Pokemon with access to Spore such as Amoonguss can help patch up Persian's Trick Room weakness, as Trick Room users usually depend on their Lum or Chesto Berries to stay awake, and Persian can Fake Out or Feint their supporters.

This set capitalizes on Persian's few advantages over Ambipom, specifically his higher Special Attack and access to Hypnosis, as well as his equally high Speed stat, in order to make him a rather effective sweeper. Although Persian's initial Special Attack is still pretty bad, it becomes surprisingly decent after a Nasty Plot; when further boosted by Life Orb, it is at least enough to dispose of many switch-ins that expect a typical physical set, such as Rhyperior and Donphan. Hypnosis can allow Persian a free setup opportunity he would otherwise not have had, which is especially potent if he manages to hit a would-be counter as well. Swift is Persian's strongest special STAB attack after Technician, and it will be his primary attacking option. Water Pulse is boosted likewise, and it achieves perfect coverage in UU (besides Shedinja) alongside Swift. Substitute can be a viable alternative to Hypnosis, and it can be really helpful in easing prediction and blocking status. However, losing the ability to instantly suspend an opponent in sleep is rather disappointing. Taunt is also an option that can allow Persian to grab a few extra Nasty Plot boosts against Chansey or stop opposing setup sweepers from doing their thing. Icy Wind and Thunderbolt can be used in the second and fourth slots, respectively, if you decide against both Hypnosis and Substitute, for impressive coverage. Finally, Dark Pulse and Shadow Ball are options to hit Ghost-types, most notably Mismagius and Rotom, harder. Dual screen support is very helpful to Persian, as he is incredibly frail. Pokemon such as Uxie and Mesprit make great candidates to set them up, as they have impressive bulk and a resistance to Fighting. Both also sport the ability to use Stealth Rock, a most valuable asset to any sweeper. Further Spikes and Toxic Spikes support will also be appreciated, and both can be provided by a Pokemon like Qwilfish. Finally, even after several Nasty Plot boosts, Persian just does not have the power needed to break through the infamous Chansey, and to a lesser extent, Registeel. Milotic can also prove troublesome if Persian is without Thunderbolt. In return, these Pokemon can easily smash him with their own attacks, or cripple him with status. A Pokemon such as Toxicroak can be very useful in dealing with these Pokemon, as it is able to use its Fighting STAB to easily dispose of Chansey and Registeel, or scare them off and set up. Its ability, Dry Skin, also allows it to switch into Milotic with near impunity.

Switcheroo is one of Persian's few perks over Ambipom; when coupled with Hypnosis, it allows Persian to possibly neuter a third of your opponent's team very quickly. A Choice Band is used to take advantage of Switcheroo as Persian is already quite fast and appreciates a boost in power much more than one in Speed (which it would get from Choice Scarf). Return is a strong STAB move to abuse the power while it lasts, and U-turn is for scouting purposes. In the final slot, both Hypnosis and Night Slash are worthy options; the latter provides a means of hitting Ghost-types, while the former allows Persian to disable yet another Pokemon after he uses Switcheroo. In either case, Limber is the best choice of ability due to the lack of low Base Power moves on the set. The range of Pokemon Persian may potentially lure in and cripple is quite large, so any well-built team should naturally be able to take advantage of this set's main purpose. With that out of the way, this set has trouble dealing with physically bulky Pokemon such as Rhyperior, Hariyama, and Spiritomb, who can all withstand Persian's assaults and do not mind being given a Choice Band and may in fact already be carrying one. Therefore, it would be wise to pack a Pokemon who can deal with the aforementioned; Slowbro can handle most of these Pokemon with its strong STAB moves and impressive Defense, as can Milotic, who trades a resistance to Fighting for a neutrality to Dark. Dugtrio can use its Arena Trap ability to take out the Steel- and Rock-types that wall this set once they've been sufficiently weakened. Finally, if opting for Hypnosis over Night Slash, a Pursuit user such as Spiritomb can be employed to eliminate Ghost-types.

Persian is tied with Ambipom as one of the fastest weather supporters in UU, but what sets Persian apart from it is his access to Hypnosis, which essentially removes a foe from the match for free. Rain Dance and Sunny Day are the core moves of this set, obviously, and their inherent qualities can turn Persian's otherwise generic teammates into deadly sweepers. A Damp Rock or Heat Rock should be held by Persian according to the choice of weather in order to prolong its effects. U-turn scouts out switch-ins and allows you to bring in an appropriate sweeper to combat them, while Taunt prevents enemy setup of all sorts. This Persian set makes for a great teammate to different Pokemon depending on the choice of weather. With Rain Dance, Swift Swim users such as Ludicolo, Kabutops, and Omastar make great teammates, as do Water-types in general. Sunny Day, on the other hand, makes Chlorophyll users, such as Tangrowth and Exeggutor, and Fire-types, such as Moltres, much more appropriate. As both rain and sun are offensive weathers, these Pokemon will also appreciate entry hazard support in order to aid their sweep. Uxie can set up Stealth Rock incredibly reliably, and can also serve as a very sturdy back-up supporter, as can Claydol, both of which resist Persian's Fighting-type weakness.

With his high Speed stat, Persian can work as a fine scout, utilizing his STAB Technician Fake Out to get off free hits before switching to a counter with a fast U-turn. This set plays extremely similarly to Ambipom, but has the advantage of Hypnosis, which allows Persian to put a foe to sleep, rendering them useless. However unreliable its accuracy may be, dropping Hypnosis is not good idea, as without it, Persian is completely outclassed by Ambipom. Bite gets a Technician boost and is Persian's strongest attack against Ghost-types that may switch into Fake Out. On the other hand, Return is a strong STAB move which can be useful in finishing off healthier foes after Fake Out. Taunt can also be used in that slot to mess up any setup attempts, and is especially useful when using Persian in the lead position. Silk Scarf is usually the item of choice, as Persian will most often just be spamming Fake Out, and would appreciate the lack of recoil there. Then again, Life Orb's universal power boost will allow Persian to always KO Mismagius with Bite where it otherwise never would. Persian makes a surprisingly good lead with this set, and can easily prevent opposing Pokemon from setting up entry hazards with Taunt. Pokemon that enjoy this lack of entry hazards, such as Scyther and Moltres, who are both extremely deadly Pokemon with Stealth Rock off the field, make good teammates for this reason. They are both also able to take any Fighting-type attacks aimed at Persian with ease. It should be noted, however, that since Persian is so frail, many neutral attacks will KO him as well. Therefore, strong defensive pivots such as Slowbro and Milotic should be considered, so that Persian always has a fallback. Finally, Spiritomb is a massive headache to this set, making a Pokemon like Houndoom incredibly useful to deal with it. In addition, Houndoom can take out many notable defensive Pokemon (like Uxie and Weezing) that also cause Persian trouble.

A viable set for Persian in both standard and UU. It's hard to bring it in, but when you manage to do so, try to deal the damage by predicting your opponent and using the right move at the right time. For standard, Shadow Ball hits Gengar and Dusclops, and your Hidden Power should deal with Tyranitar. Hidden Power Fighting is an OHKO, but without Hidden Power Ground you won't be hurting Metagross. Fake Out is for Ninjask, Alakazam, and things like Reversal Heracross and Medicham, though it won't work if they Endure the Fake Out. Iron Tail can be used if you're unsure if your opponent is going to switch to, for example Tyranitar or Gengar. It hits both quite hard, though it's a tad inaccurate. Use max Speed with Adamant to beat Jolly Fearow. Raise Speed EVs to 180 at the cost of HP if you have Hidden Power Fighting.

Use Substitute to get low on health and activate Liechi Berry, and then Hypnotize your opponent. Predict what he will switch to, and if you're faster, you can hit it twice before it gets to hit you. A risky set as it relies on Hypnosis hitting, but Persian isn't likely to do anything at all if you play it safe. On the bright side, not much is faster than a max Speed Persian, especially not in UU.

Persian, a UU Pokemon that can take on both Skarmory and Blissey. Return vs. Body Slam is paralysis vs. power, you could use Double-Edge too but it's not really worth the recoil. Zap Cannon vs. Thunderbolt is paralysis vs. accuracy really; don't use Zap Cannon with Body Slam obviously. Hypnosis is just a nice status move it gets, which is always good to put something to sleep that can beat Persian, since Persian will usually be faster. Just watch out for RestTalk Pokemon switching into a Hypnosis if they know Persian is carrying it.

Persian's good Speed lets it Swagger whatever is switching in or whatever is currently out; hope they are confused the next turn and then Psych Up. This set sadly just doesn't work as well as the first set since they can switch or just pound on Persian with +2 Attack. Substitute can work to take those +2 Attack hits Persian'll be eating, but then Ghost-types wall it like there's no tomorrow. Not a great set really--too easily maneuvered around, but Persian isn't doing much else. You need Spikes down for this to work, otherwise they'll just keep switching out for free.

Set Description Slash is the main reason Persian is viable, effectively ignoring Reflect thanks to its near-guaranteed critical hit rate. Body Slam is crucial against Reflect Snorlax; after two hits with Slash, the third will only KO 6.5% of the time, and Snorlax can simply use Rest, undoing your progress. However, Persian can fish for a critical hit with Body Slam to secure the KO, as Snorlax can’t afford to skip Rest. Additionally, Body Slam can fish for paralysis when Starmie switches in, potentially crippling it. Bubble Beam allows Persian to 2HKO Rhydon, and its Speed drop chance can occasionally help against faster switch-ins like Alakazam and Starmie, forcing them into a tricky situation. For the 4th move, Thunderbolt 3HKOes Cloyster and Slowbro, giving Persian a fighting chance against them. It also can critically hit Starmie, unlike Slash, providing Persian more offensive pressure, and it is a way to chip away at Gengar if it is asleep or at low HP. Growl gives Persian a way to handle Tauros. Persian is 2HKOed by Body Slam + Hyper Beam, but using Growl on the Hyper Beam turn prevents the KO unless Tauros critically hits, allowing Persian to retaliate with Slash and take it down. However, this tactic is somewhat predictable, and if the opponent anticipates it, they could simply use Body Slam instead. Still, Growl is enough to put Tauros in an awkward position in a matchup that is otherwise unfavorable for Persian. Growl can also be useful against Hyper Beam Snorlax depending on its remaining HP and helps prevent a Self-Destruct OHKO. Additionally, it can reapply a Speed drop to a paralyzed Pokemon, which is particularly useful against Starmie. Hyper Beam, meanwhile, allows Persian to finish off Pokemon like Starmie, Victreebel, and Chansey after Slash and provides a slight damage boost to secure KOs where Slash would otherwise fall short. It’s also a viable option for a final stand in a tight spot, with Persian’s critical hit rate giving it a chance to turn the tables in critical moments.

Slash is Persian's main outlet for damage, having a 99% critical hit rate to effectively ignore Reflect; it also 2HKOes Alakazam, preventing it from using Substitute if it's already used it once. Bubble Beam allows Persian to 2HKO Rhydon, which otherwise counters it. Common switch-ins to Bubble Beam—such as Alakazam and Starmie—can also have their Speed dropped switching in, which can potentially let Persian threaten them head-on. Thunderbolt lets Persian attempt to 3HKO Cloyster and Slowbro, the latter of which is also particularly vulnerable to critical hits if it tries to set up Amnesia. However, it should be noted that Thunderbolt deals less damage to Starmie than Slash without a critical hit. Finally, Substitute can be used against resting Pokemon like Exeggutor and Slowbro for free, guarding against status and poising Persian to get serious damage in. It can similarly be used against paralyzed Alakazam, Chansey, or Starmie to fish for full paralysis—especially on predicted Recover uses—foes which Persian can muscle past from there. Persian performs best as an expendable mid-game revenge killer, but thanks to Substitute, it can also be a successful late-game cleaner. Once a Pokemon is forced to use Recover, use Rest, or otherwise end up in KO range, Persian can usually come in and profit immensely so long as its checks have been removed. Late-game Persian also has a minor advantage against Substitute Tauros, which put themselves into Slash 2HKO range when using it, so there is value in holding it back to the point where a Tauros mirror would otherwise be appropriate. In terms of other moveset options, Body Slam can be used to let Persian scout while spreading paralysis, though giving up either Bubble Beam or Thunderbolt is often necessary, making Persian more easily checked. Thunder can be used instead of Thunderbolt for a guaranteed 2HKO on Cloyster, as well as dealing more damage to Starmie than Slash, but its consistency gives Persian its own trouble. While Hyper Beam can be used to squeeze 2HKOs on Chansey and Starmie alongside Slash, the forced recharge makes it a far cry from regular RBY and thus generally not recommended.
