战术分析
Rotom-C makes for a decent Choice Scarf user with its solid typing, useful moves such as Trick and Volt Switch, Levitate, and solid stats all-around. While Rotom-C's Speed is average, with the Choice Scarf, it still outspeeds the entire unboosted metagame, other Choice Scarf users like Hoopa, and Speed-boosted Pokemon like Rapid Spin Tatsugiri and Dragon Dance Scrafty. Rotom-C's typing is what differentiates it from other fast Electric-types like Kilowattrel and Choice Scarf Toxtricity, letting it resist moves like Paldean Tauros-W's Wave Crash and Aqua Jet and threaten foes that can absorb Volt Switch like Golurk, Mudsdale, and, most notably, Gastrodon. While Rotom-C shares its typing with Hisuian Electrode, it is the preferred offensive option because it has naturally higher Special Attack, offers different utility moves, and does not need to hold Heavy-Duty Boots; Choice Scarf even allows Rotom-C to make up for its lower Speed. Thunderbolt gives Rotom-C a stronger Electric-type move and a more spammable STAB attack without the need to switch out or worry about stat drops. Discharge can help support slower teammates thanks to its high paralysis chance, and its lower Base Power is almost never a significant drawback. Electric is the go-to Tera type on Rotom-C, improving its ability to wear foes down with Volt Switch and clean up with either Thunderbolt or Discharge. Tera Electric also leaves Rotom-C with no weaknesses and allows it to tank certain moves like Brave Bird from Staraptor and Flamigo. Rotom-C will often click Volt Switch, letting it form a solid VoltTurn core with other pivots such as Scyther, Staraptor, Gligar, and Bruxish. This momentum ideally leads to the opponent switching a lot, making Gligar and other hazard setters like Duraludon and Qwilfish useful for building up chip damage. Being Choice-locked can leave Rotom-C very prediction-reliant, especially against foes immune to Volt Switch such as Gastrodon, Golurk, and Mudsdale. Gastrodon is especially notable, since it sometimes runs Sticky Hold for an immunity to Trick. Offensive checks to these Pokemon such as Meloetta, Staraptor, and Paldean Tauros-W help ease a wrong prediction, and the first two have pivot moves of their own. Teammates that can lure in and weaken these threats throughout the match such as Goodra, Ambipom, and Copperajah can also help with this. With Grass- and Dragon-types such Decidueye, Virizion, and Goodra resisting both of Rotom-C's STAB moves, it appreciates pairing with checks to them like Skuntank, Galarian Slowbro, and Florges, respectively. In return, Rotom-C offers resistances to some of their threats, such as Ground-types like Mudsdale and Steel-types like Bronzong and Copperajah. A handful of Electric-types such as Rotom-H, Kilowattrel, and Toxtricity also resist both of Rotom-C's STAB moves, so their own checks like Goodra, Gastrodon, and Golurk also come in handy. As Choice Scarf Rotom-C does not outspeed certain boosted setup sweepers like Shift Gear Toxtricity and Shell Smash Minior and other Choice Scarf users like Flamigo, it may be useful to have another form of speed control such as priority users like Extreme Speed Arcanine and Sucker Punch Skuntank. Rotom-C also loses its speed control capabilities after Trick, making these Pokemon even more valuable to have around.

Set Details Pain Split gives a good boost in longevity, helping Rotom-C continuously pivot and remove entry hazards throughout a battle. Alternatively, Will-O-Wisp lets Rotom-C more quickly wear down checks to it like non-Rest Guzzlord, Decidueye, and Vileplume. Offensive investment makes Rotom-C's Volt Switch more cumbersome for special walls like Copperajah and Sylveon to switch into, but opting for more bulk, especially alongside Will-O-Wisp, gives it more leeway around physical attackers like Guzzlord and Dhelmise. Rotom-C commonly draws in Dragon- and Grass-types, so wallbreakers like Glastrier and Assault Vest Copperajah work well here; in addition, they appreciate Rotom-C safely bringing them in with Volt Switch, since their low Speed often leaves them vulnerable to taking hits first from the foe. Since Rotom-C is one of NU's most consistent pivots, it pairs well with other pivots like Talonflame, Silvally-Ground, and Passimian. Talonflame also switches into U-turns from foes like Ninjask, and it can bring Rotom-C in against Diancie. Rotom-C is poor at keeping Stealth Rock off the field against Copperajah; strong physical wallbreakers like Passimian, Golurk, and Guzzlord help mitigate this issue.

Set Details Pain Split lets Rotom-C make better use of its ability to switch into foes like Vaporeon and Mantine, and it can also be used to weaken checks like Copperajah and Guzzlord that have high HP stats. Thunderbolt can be run instead so Rotom-C has a spammable Electric-type attack after it boosts, but it's usually not necessary. Rotom-C needs Dragon- and Grass-types weakened or removed before it can sweep with Nasty Plot, so pair it with wallbreakers like Choice Specs Sylveon, Assault Vest Copperajah, and Toxicroak. Conversely, Rotom-C is great at repeatedly taking advantage of bulky Water-types like Vaporeon, Mantine, and Quagsire; offensive Fire- and Water-types like Salazzle, Starmie, and Inteleon appreciate this, and in return, they can help wear down bulky Dragon-types like Guzzlord. Rotom-C struggles with being easily revenge killed by faster threats like Flare Blitz Talonflame, Drapion, and Ninjask if it attempts to set up too early; make sure to pair it with checks like Vaporeon, Mudsdale, and Diancie.

Set Details The combination of Trick and Defog makes Rotom-C an incredible source of utility and gives it even more room to cripple checks to it like Guzzlord, Alolan Exeggutor, and Vileplume. Alternatively, Nasty Plot gives it great late-game potential. If you wish to have a more consistent attack to lock into, Thunderbolt is a good alternative that does more damage to Salazzle and can't miss versus Water-types like Starmie. 8 HP EVs prevent Talonflame from 2HKOing Rotom-C with Brave Bird. Pokemon like Salazzle, Starmie, and Guzzlord benefit from Rotom-C crippling shared checks like Snorlax and Vileplume with Trick. Similarly, wallbreakers like Golurk and Swords Dance Toxicroak appreciate being safely brought in against foes like Snorlax and Decidueye that they match up well into. Golurk can also help against Copperajah, and Toxicroak easily deals with Vaporeon, which otherwise easily scouts Rotom-C with Protect. Setup Grass-types like Decidueye and opposing Rotom-C can take advantage of Rotom-C locking into Leaf Storm, so checks to them like Assault Vest Copperajah, Drapion, and Guzzlord are necessary teammates.

战术分析
Nasty Plot allows Rotom-C to break past would-be checks such as bulky Nidoqueen and Umbreon if it lacks Toxic. Due to its average Speed, Rotom-C is easy to revenge kill from the likes of Entei, Choice Scarf Heracross, and Salazzle. Grass-types such as Roserade, Vileplume, Celebi, and other special walls such as Assault Vest Reuniclus and Guzzlord are difficult to break through. Pain Split gives Rotom-C the option of recovery, which allows it to take an extra hit to support its setup and overall longevity. Volt Switch can be run to pivot on its checks, but it is not the primary focus of the set. Pokemon that can take advantage of Grass-types, such as Roserade, Vileplume, and Celebi, should be paired with Nasty Plot Rotom-C. Metagross or Incineroar can both accomplish this role, as well as faster options such as Crobat, Noivern, and Tornadus. Rotom-C also lacks Speed, which makes fast Flying-types even more helpful; other fast Pokemon such as Choice Scarf Gardevoir and Choice Scarf Flygon also complement it well. Due to Rotom-C's Grass typing, U-turn from Flygon, Noivern, and Crobat can do serious damage, which makes it difficult to sweep with Rotom-C. Rocky Helmet users, such as Gastrodon and Klefki, are good partners to punish the aforementioned U-turn users. Having fast cleaners like Choice Scarf Gardevoir, Sharpedo, and Choice Scarf Heracross can clean weakened teams, as well as give teams the Speed it lacks.

战术分析
Choice Scarf Rotom-C is able to outspeed most unboosted Pokemon, such as Crobat and Noivern, allowing it to safely pivot on them. Trick allows Rotom-C to shut down defensive Pokemon, such as Registeel and Umbreon, as it removes their Leftovers and limits their defensive utility. Thunderbolt is a consistent attack that is useful for cleaning, but it also gives Rotom-C the extra power to OHKO offensive Crobat and Tornadus, and it is necessary when facing Togekiss, as Volt Switch doesn't force it out. If a team needs entry hazard removal, however, Defog can be run over Thunderbolt, but it is not preferred. Flygon is Rotom-C's most common partner, as it can threaten the bulky Steel-types that it cannot, as well as create a VoltTurn core that can be difficult to manage for the opposing team. Flygon also covers up Rotom-C's Fire weakness, which can be taken advantage of by Chandelure and Salazzle. In return, Rotom-C takes down the bulky Water- and Flying-types Flygon struggles with. Rotom-C's fantastic pivoting can also be taken advantage of by strong wallbreakers, such as Pangoro and Heracross, which also help with Steel-types. Unlike other Electric-types, Rotom-C has a difficult time switching into Togekiss, so having Rock-types such as Rhyperior, Aerodactyl, and Diancie are recommended for balance teams. Stealth Rock can chip Rotom-C down over time, which can be a problem in longer games. Hazard removers such as Starmie, Crobat, and the aforementioned Flygon help with this setback.

战术分析
Rotom-C's useful Electric typing, access to Nasty Plot, good Special Attack, and average Speed stat allow it to help out greatly with Flying-types and become a fearsome setup sweeper. Nasty Plot allows Rotom-C to net OHKOs against bulkier Water- and Flying-types such as Toxapex and Corviknight. Use Substitute on passive Pokemon such as Ferrothorn and Toxapex to avoid status and set up with Nasty Plot. Thunderbolt makes Rotom-C able to take on Flying-types such as Corviknight and Mandibuzz. Dark Pulse is used for neutral damage and greatly helping with Ferrothorn, Seismitoad, and Excadrill and Ghost- and Psychic-types like Aegislash and Celebi. Maximum HP makes it easier for Rotom-C to keep its Substitute while setting up on Ferrothorn, while maximum Speed with a Timid nature allows Rotom-C to outpace Togekiss. Rotom-C's teammates appreciate its ability to be able to threaten Flying-types such as Pelipper and Corviknight. Rotom-C loves entry hazard setters such as Ferrothorn and Roserade to sweep more easily mid- to late-game and in particular likes Ferrothorn thanks to its Steel typing allowing it to come in on Ice-type attacks. Appletun forms a good defensive core with Ferrothorn because its Dragon typing and Thick Fat makes it able to come in on Fire-type attacks from Pokemon like Dragapult and Charizard. Virizion makes a great partner due to its ability to take on Charizard and Centiskorch with Stone Edge, OHKO Alolan Ninetales with Smart Strike and Steel-type Pokemon like Excadrill. Leech Seed users such as Ferrothorn, Appletun, and Whimsicott are good partners for Rotom-C, as they wear down opposing Pokemon for it while helping it set up by providing it with more passive recovery. Whimsicott can be used for its Substitute + Leech Seed to chip Pokemon down and make it easier for Rotom-C to clean up. Whimsicott's Fairy typing and access to Moonblast also help greatly in the Dragon- and the Dark-type matchup with pressuring and taking care of Hydreigon and Grimmsnarl. Whimsicott can also use Heat Rock and Sunny Day to make Venusaur and Celebi turn into dangerous sweepers that greatly help in the Steel-type matchup, taking care of Pokemon that Rotom-C has trouble with such as Duraludon with Growth-boosted Weather Ball or Nasty Plot-boosted Earth Power.

战术分析
Rotom-C is a good option on Electric teams because its Grass typing along with its access to a powerful STAB move in Leaf Storm makes it a reliable answer to the many Ground-type Pokemon that Electric teams dislike dealing with. Pokemon such as Hippowdon, Seismitoad, and Gastrodon are all easily set up on by Rotom-C, and other Pokemon such as Mamoswine and Excadrill have trouble revenge killing it due to Substitute. Nasty Plot allows Rotom-C to serve as a setup sweeper by beating Pokemon such as Hatterene, Bisharp, and Excadrill after a boost, while Substitute also allows it to set up on status users such as Seismitoad, Pokemon that are unable to deal significant damage to Rotom-C such as Toxapex, and forced switches, as well as helping against Bisharp's Sucker Punch. Thunderbolt is valuable coverage that hits Pokemon such as Corviknight and Toxapex for super effective damage, as well as Pokemon like Aegislash, Bisharp, Jirachi, Salazzle, and Galarian Weezing neutrally. Leaf Storm is Rotom-C's stronger STAB attack that hits the aforementioned Ground-type Pokemon and can beat bulkier Pokemon, such as Mew, Hatterene, and Gardevoir, with a Nasty Plot boost. Although its bulk is not the best, Rotom-C can serve as an answer to certain offensive Pokemon using its typing, such as Barraskewda and Seismitoad under rain, but shouldn't set up on other hard-hitting offensive Pokemon such as Indeedee and Dragapult that threaten to OHKO or heavily dent it. The entirety of Electric appreciates Rotom-C's ability to serve as a reliable answer to Ground-type Pokemon, seeing as Electric teams struggle immensely against them otherwise. In return, Sticky Web setters such as Galvantula and Vikavolt are good partners for Rotom-C, as they patch up its middling Speed and allow it to outspeed Pokemon such as Choice Specs Indeedee, Choice Scarf Gardevoir, Choice Specs Gengar, and Mimikyu, paving the way for it to sweep. Choice Band Zeraora is a fantastic wallbreaker that can take on faster Pokemon such as Hydreigon, Cinderace, and Dragapult and forms an offensive core with Rotom-C. Zeraora's ability to wallbreak early-game and beat Dragon- and Steel-type Pokemon with Play Rough, Plasma Fists, and Close Combat is fantastic for Rotom-C to sweep weakened teams or vice versa. Toxtricity is another special attacker that can beat Grass-type Pokemon such as Whimsicott, Vileplume, and Roserade for Rotom-C. Alolan Raichu is a powerful wallbreaker that can outspeed and beat threats such as Choice Scarf Galarian Darmanitan, Choice Scarf Gengar, and Choice Scarf Excadrill for Rotom-C under Electric Terrain. Pincurchin can set up Spikes and Toxic Spikes as well as use Memento to weaken the opponent and bring Rotom-C in for it to set up and sweep. Morpeko is amazing against Psychic and Ghost teams and can bring Rotom-C in with Parting Shot while the stat drops help it set up. Morpeko can also break screens, which limit Rotom-C’s sweeping potential, with Psychic Fangs.

Moves Volt Switch allows Rotom-Mow to generate momentum for its team while chipping various Pokemon that can usually switch into it such as Roserade and Registeel. Will-O-Wisp enables Rotom-Mow to cripple threats like Metagross while preventing the likes of Virizion and Tsareena from switching in for free. Thunderbolt is an alternative STAB option that doesn't force Rotom-Mow to switch out and allows it to consistently take on foes such as Mandibuzz, though this sacrifices the utility provided by Will-O-Wisp. With Stealth Rock support, Hidden Power Ice can OHKO Mega Sceptile and 2HKO Tangela while also dealing a considerable amount of damage to checks like offensive Roserade. However, this also forces Rotom-Mow to replace a useful utility option and doesn't do sufficient damage to targets such as Goodra and Shaymin, while Synthesis variations of Shaymin and Roserade can heal off damage quite easily. Set Details Maximum investment in Special Attack and Speed alongside a Timid nature is preferred so that Rotom-Mow can apply the most offensive pressure possible while outspeeding foes like Nidoqueen and Mega Blastoise. Grassium Z in conjunction with Leaf Storm gives Rotom-Mow a powerful one-time STAB move, which can OHKO Pokemon such as Nidoqueen and Gardevoir after Stealth Rock damage while preventing Leaf Storm's stat reduction penalty. Usage Tips Find opportunities to use Defog against entry hazard setters threatened by Rotom-Mow like Rhyperior, Gigalith, Diancie, and Steelix, which are usually forced out, though Rotom-Mow must be cautious when pivoting into these Pokemon, as they can cripple it with Toxic or chip it with their STAB moves. Pokemon like Metagross and Milotic are also targets that Rotom-Mow can take advantage of and use Defog against. Despite this, Rotom-Mow's average bulk and lack of recovery options make it rather easy to wear down, so it should exercise caution when directly switching into Stealth Rock users like Gigalith and Rhyperior, which can do significant damage with Stone Edge or Megahorn. Volt Switch will often be Rotom-Mow's attacking move of choice to generate momentum against switch-ins like Roserade and Goodra. Once such answers have been eliminated, Rotom-Mow can more freely use Leaf Storm, especially in tandem with Grassium Z to take out offensive threats like Gardevoir and Machamp. Be cautious when using Will-O-Wisp, as it can activate Flash Fire on Houndoom and Arcanine or make the special walls that like to switch into Rotom-Mow like Cresselia and Porygon2 immune to Toxic, which can be detrimental to teams that rely on status to wear them down. Similarly, Leaf Storm's stat reduction can make Rotom-Mow vulnerable to various wallbreakers and setup sweepers like Machamp, Necrozma, and Raikou. Team Options Fire-, Steel-, and Psychic-types like Salazzle, Metagross, and Gardevoir can exploit the Grass- and Poison-types Rotom-Mow can force into play like Roserade and Dragalge, and they appreciate the support provided by Volt Switch. Other Fire-types like Ninetales in addition to Flying- and Bug-types such as Noivern and Golisopod greatly appreciate Rotom-Mow's ability to remove Stealth Rock with Defog while threatening Rock-type entry hazard setters such as Gigalith and Diancie. Wallbreakers and setup sweepers such as Machamp, Zygarde-10%, and Toxicroak can form an offensive core with Rotom-Mow, as they can clear away Pokemon that trouble it, which includes special walls like Registeel and Snorlax as well as Fire-, Poison, and Ice-types such as Houndoom, Dragalge, and Mega Abomasnow. In return, these Pokemon appreciate having physical walls like Slowbro disposed of. Setup sweepers like Virizion and Barbaracle can also take advantage of Pokemon crippled by Will-O-Wisp such as Metagross. Pokemon like Raikou, Machamp, and Necrozma can take advantage of Rotom-Mow after its Special Attack is lowered by Leaf Storm, so teammates like Registeel, Florges, and Drapion are respective checks to these Pokemon that prevent them from completely exploiting Rotom-Mow.

Moves Thunderbolt is Rotom-Mow's primary Electric-type STAB move, which it can usually spam freely, since Ground-type Pokemon will typically not switch into it. Volt Switch is a slightly weaker Electric-type STAB attack than Thunderbolt but allows Rotom-Mow to gain momentum while dealing damage. Leaf Storm is Rotom-Mow's Grass-type STAB move, which is extremely powerful and deters Ground-types from switching into its Electric-type moves. Defog allows Rotom-Mow to remove entry hazards, which lets it and its teammates switch around more freely. Hidden Power Fire is an alternative option to OHKO Scizor. Set Details Maximum investment in Special Attack gives Rotom-Mow the highest offensive output possible. Maximum investment in Speed with a Timid nature allows it to outspeed base 85 Speed Pokemon like Nidoking and Heracross. Grassium Z allows Rotom-Mow to use a 195-Base Power Bloom Doom to KO or heavily damage Pokemon such as Gligar without lowering its Special Attack. Alternatively, Rotom-Mow can use an Iapapa Berry to provide a method of sustaining its HP throughout the match while winning one-on-one matchups against Pokemon like Mamoswine with plenty of HP left to spare. Electrium Z is another good option to act as a catch-all powerful attack with the more specific targets being Pokemon such as Mega Aggron, Klefki, and Cobalion. Usage Tips Rotom-Mow excels at gaining momentum with Volt Switch, so it should attempt to create opportunities to use Volt Switch as much as possible. Rotom-Mow should avoid switching into strong hits due to its poor base 50 HP. It can come in on a weak Scald from Seismitoad, Swampert, and Suicune, as well as come in on Pokemon like Klefki, Togekiss, Alomomola, and Hippowdon. Rotom-Mow can also come in for free via momentum from a teammate's U-turn or Volt Switch. When running Hidden Power Fire, Rotom-Mow should attempt to lure in Scizor somehow. It can usually catch a healthy Scizor, since there will be little noticeable downside for the Scizor to use U-turn. Be wary of Pokemon that will attempt to take advantage of Rotom-Mow in its weakened state after using Leaf Storm, as it will be very easy to set up on if it has decreased Special Attack. Team Options Rotom-Mow pairs well with Pursuit trappers like Krookodile and Scizor because it can easily lure in Latias and Celebi while using Volt Switch, which allows the Pursuit user to come in and trap them. Rotom-Mow synergizes with U-turn users like Scizor, Mega Beedrill, and Infernape, as they can pivot with Volt Switch and U-turn together to gain momentum throughout a match. Offensive VoltTurn teams that Infernape, Mega Beedrill, and Scizor often fit on will also appreciate Rotom-Mow's ability to remove entry hazards so they don't get worn down from switching constantly. Pokemon that can take advantage of common Dragon-types, such as Primarina, Klefki, and Scizor, appreciate being able to come in for free via Volt Switch against Latias or Hydreigon, as they are typically the safest switch-ins to Rotom-Mow. Additionally, since Rotom-Mow is a fairly consistent entry hazard remover, Pokemon susceptible to Stealth Rock like Moltres, Mega Beedrill, Mega Aerodactyl, and Talonflame all value Rotom-Mow's ability to remove it. Powerful wallbreakers like Terrakion, Crawdaunt, and Heracross appreciate Rotom-Mow's ability to bring them in for free via momentum from Volt Switch. In turn, these high-powered physical wallbreakers can threaten Rotom-Mow's usual counters like Blissey and Amoonguss. Lastly, Pokemon like Mega Aerodactyl, Infernape, and Mamoswine all appreciate Rotom-Mow's ability to threaten bulky Water-types that attempt to switch into them.

Moves Thunderbolt is a strong Electric-type STAB move that is necessary for Rotom-Mow to effectively check Mega Pinsir and Celesteela. Volt Switch allows Rotom-Mow to generate momentum off of forced switches and bring teammates in safely. Leaf Storm is Rotom-Mow's most powerful attack and lets it check threats such as Mega Diancie. Hidden Power Ice is useful coverage for hitting Dragon-types such as Garchomp and Latios as well as pesky Electric-immune foes in the Flying matchup such as Gliscor. Trick is an option over Hidden Power Ice as a means of crippling defensive switch-ins to Rotom-Mow such as Chansey and Zapdos. Set Details Maximum Special Attack investment ensures Rotom-Mow hits as hard as possible, while maximum Speed investment with a Timid nature and a Choice Scarf allows Rotom-Mow to outspeed key threats such as Mega Lopunny and Mega Alakazam. Levitate is Rotom-Mow's only ability; it helps Rotom-Mow check Mega Pinsir in the Bug matchup, lets it avoid Sticky Web, and lets it switch into Ground-type attackers that threaten the team. Usage Tips Rotom-Mow should primarily be used as a revenge killer to check offensive threats to the team and generate momentum off them using Volt Switch. Use Volt Switch liberally on predicted switches to pivot safely out to teammates that can take advantage of and to deal chip damage against threats such as Mega Charizard Y that Rotom-Mow cannot OHKO. Rotom-Mow benefits greatly from entry hazards set by teammates to deal chip damage against Pokemon it forces out such as Excadrill and Skarmory. Rotom-Mow should be switched into Ground-type attacks that threaten teammates on Grass, such as Excadrill's Earthquake, so that it can force them out with Leaf Storm. However, take care to preserve Rotom-Mow in matchups where it'll be needed to check threats to the team, such as Mega Charizard Y when against Flying. If using Trick, use it to cripple dangerous walls to the team such as Zapdos. However, be careful not to give away Rotom-Mow's Choice Scarf while there are still threats on the field that it is needed to check, such as Choice Scarf Togekiss. Team Options Every Pokemon on Grass appreciates Rotom-Mow's ability to bring them in safely on switches using Volt Switch and check threats to the team such as Mega Pinsir. Mega Venusaur is a defensive staple of Grass teams and an excellent teammate for Rotom-Mow; it easily manages many of the offensive threats Rotom-Mow cannot check such as Mega Scizor and Mold Breaker Excadrill. In return, Rotom-Mow can take the pressure off Mega Venusaur to check Sand Rush Excadrill, which takes tremendous damage from Leaf Storm and cannot hit Rotom-Mow effectively. Cradily and Ferrothorn form an effective hazard stacking core using Stealth Rock and Spikes that helps Rotom-Mow rack up damage by forcing switches as a revenge killer. Cradily can check Fire-types such as Volcarona for the team, while Ferrothorn manages threats such as Kyurem-B and Latios that Rotom-Mow struggles to check. Tapu Bulu serves as a dangerous physical attacker and partner to Rotom-Mow, using Grassy Terrain-boosted STAB attacks and Fighting- and Rock-type coverage to break the many walls Rotom-Mow lures in and pivots on, such as Zapdos and Chansey. Rotom-Mow serving as the team's revenge killer also allows Tapu Bulu to utilize wallbreaking sets such as Choice Band and Swords Dance + Z-Move. Celebi is a complementary special attacker that supports Rotom-Mow in the Poison and Steel matchups with its Psychic-type STAB attacks and useful coverage. Breloom is a strong physical attacker with excellent utility in Spore and strong Technician-boosted priority that assists Rotom-Mow in the Steel and Normal matchups, where Rotom-Mow finds itself easily walled by Ferrothorn and Chansey.

Moves Leaf Storm is a very strong STAB attack that severely hurts everything weak to it and deals heavy damage to some neutral targets. Volt Switch does decent damage and also lets Rotom-C retain offensive momentum. Thunderbolt is a secondary Electric-type STAB move that is mainly used for its reliability, as Leaf Storm lowers Rotom-C's Special Attack by two stages and Volt Switch forces Rotom-C to switch out of battle. Trick is used to cripple walls that might switch into Rotom-C, such as Aromatisse, heavily crippling them for the rest of the match. Will-O-Wisp is another option that can be used over Thunderbolt because it lets Rotom-C cripple Pokemon with burns after it gets rid of its Choice Scarf via Trick, though it is worth noting that Rotom-C cannot sweep late-game without Thunderbolt. Set Details Maximum Speed EVs are used to let Rotom-C outspeed as many Pokemon as possible, including Choice Scarf Braviary, Accelgor if Rotom-C is running a Timid nature, and Adamant Hitmonlee after Rotom-C has Tricked away its Choice Scarf. Maximum Special Attack EVs make Rotom-C hit as hard as possible. The choice between Timid and Modest depends on whether you want Rotom-C to outspeed more Pokemon or have some more power behind its attacks. Choice Scarf lets Rotom-C act as a revenge killer as well as a late-game cleaner. Usage Tips If Rotom-C is sent out early-game, use Volt Switch to grab momentum if Ground-types and Jolteon are not present. Use Leaf Storm on predicted switches to Ground-types, though be cautious in using the move, as the Special Attack drop leaves Rotom-C as setup bait for Pokemon such as Houndoom and Virizion. Once the opponent's Pokemon are weakened and Pokemon with Electric immunities are eliminated, use Thunderbolt to clean up late-game. Use Trick on walls that switch in, as it cripples them immensely; however, before getting rid of Rotom-C's Choice Scarf, make sure there are not any faster Pokemon that Rotom-C needs to keep its Choice Scarf for. Team Options Because this set serves as a revenge killer and a late-game cleaner, Rotom-C pairs excellently with powerful wallbreakers. Notable examples include Exploud, Houndoom, Mega Camerupt, and Emboar, which all appreciate coming in unscathed due to Rotom-C's Volt Switch. Other Pokemon that use either Volt Switch or U-turn, such as Meloetta, Braviary, and Flygon, are also great teammates because they can constantly retain offensive momentum against the opponent's team. Fire-types pair especially well with Rotom-C because Rotom-C takes Water- and Ground-type attacks aimed at them while Fire-types such as Emboar resist Bug-, Fire-, and Ice-type attacks aimed at Rotom-C. Setup sweepers such as Rock Polish Tyrantrum also pair well with Rotom-C because they can take advantage of walls that have been Tricked and gain free setup turns. Finally, entry hazards are very helpful, as they make it easier for Rotom-C to clean late-game, so Rhyperior and Druddigon are good to pair with Rotom-C. Additionally, Qwilfish, Accelgor, and Mega Glalie are great partners because all of them are able set up Spikes; the former also is able to set up Toxic Spikes.

Moves Leaf Storm backed by Choice Specs hits insanely hard with a drawback of lowering Rotom-C's Special Attack by two stages. Volt Switch is the main Electric-type STAB move, as it retains offensive momentum while hitting decently hard. Thunderbolt is a reliable Electric-type STAB attack that has no drawbacks and still hits really hard. Trick is used to cripple switch-ins such as Torterra and Aromatisse. Hidden Power Fire is useful if used over Trick for Grass-type switch-ins such as Virizion and Venusaur. It also OHKOes Choice Band variants of Escavalier from full health while easily 2HKOing Assault Vest variants. Set Details Maximum Speed EVs let Rotom-C outspeed everything up to Adamant Hitmonlee if Rotom-C is running a Timid nature, Mega Glalie before it Mega Evolves, and Mesprit. Maximum Special Attack EVs are used to let Rotom-C hit as hard as possible. The choice of either a Timid or Modest nature is up to whether you want more speed or more power. Choice Specs allows Rotom-C to act as a wallbreaker with Leaf Storm and Thunderbolt that can also dish out good damage with Volt Switch. Expert Belt also has use, as it lets Rotom-C bluff having a Choice item, luring in Ground-types that think Rotom-C is locked into one of its Electric-type STAB moves. It also is useful when paired with Hidden Power Fire to surprise the Grass-types the Rotom-C lures in. Usage Tips Use Volt Switch early-game if Ground-types and Jolteon are not present to grab offensive momentum. If the opponent has a Pokemon immune to Electric on their team, try to predict their switches with a well-timed Leaf Storm. Use it carefully, though, because the Special Attack drop means Rotom-C becomes setup bait for the likes of Virizion and Houndoom. Unlike the Choice Scarf set, this set is a wallbreaker rather than a late-game cleaner, so using it early- and mid-game is best to weaken teams for your team's sweeper to capitalize on. Team Options Strong Fire-types such as Emboar and Houndoom are great teammates because they can switch in on Grass-types that force Rotom-C out, while Rotom-C beats bulky Water-types that give them trouble, such as Qwilfish and Alomomola. Flygon is also a great partner for Rotom-C because they have decent synergy and form a VoltTurn core. Fletchinder takes on Grass-types as well while Rotom-C threatens Rhyperior, allowing Fletchinder to sweep late-game. Entry hazards work well with Rotom-C, so Druddigon and Rhyperior are good options for Stealth Rock users and Qwilfish and Accelgor make for good Spikes users. Mega Glalie in particular is a very good partner because it beats problematic Grass-types for Rotom-C while also being able support Rotom-C by setting up Spikes. Because Rotom-C is a wallbreaker, setup sweepers such as Rock Polish Tyrantrum and Nasty Plot Houndoom all make for excellent partners.

Moves Volt Switch comes in handy as a momentum grabber. Leaf Storm is used as a powerful Grass-type STAB move that hits Ground-types immune to Rotom-C's Electric-type moves. Thunderbolt is a more reliable STAB move that, unlike Leaf Storm, has no drawback. Trick cripples defensive Pokemon that tend to try to switch into Rotom-C. Will-O-Wisp can be run instead of Thunderbolt, mainly to be used after the Choice Scarf is Tricked away, to further cripple Pokemon that try to switch in. Signal Beam can be an option to hit Celebi and Mega Sceptile hard. Set Details Maximum EVs are invested into Special Attack and Speed to make Rotom-C as fast as possible while still hitting reasonably hard. A Timid nature is optimal, as it allows Rotom-C to outspeed threats such as Mega Beedrill and Mega Aerodactyl. A Choice Scarf allows it to act as a good offensive pivot, easily grabbing momentum with Volt Switch while doubling as a strong revenge killer. Usage Tips The Choice Scarf set is mainly used as a revenge killer, so bring it in after one of your Pokemon has been knocked out. Make use of Rotom-C's nice set of resistances to net good opportunities to switch in . Volt Switch grants the most utility among its moves, doing decent damage while maintaining momentum should your opponent switch out. Thunderbolt can be used to clean up the opponent's team once it has been sufficiently weakened. Leaf Storm should be used on predicted Ground-type switch-ins, but minimize locking Rotom-C into it to avoid being setup fodder. Use Trick on predicted switches to cripple walls, provided you no longer require the Speed boost from the Choice Scarf. Team Options Entry hazard removal from Pokemon such as Mega Blastoise, Crobat, and Tentacruel is important to prevent Rotom-C from being easily worn down by Stealth Rock. Tentacruel can also set up Toxic Spikes to further wear down the opposing team in combination with Volt Switch. As a fast momentum grabber, Rotom-C appreciates VoltTurn partners such as Mienshao, Darmanitan, and Infernape. All of these can also break down the special walls that Rotom-C has trouble beating. Special wallbreakers such as Life Orb Hydreigon and Choice Specs Kyurem make for good teammates to make way for Rotom-C to clean up late-game.

Moves Volt Switch maintains momentum for the team. Leaf Storm hits ridiculously hard when coupled with the boost from Choice Specs. Thunderbolt provides a good and reliable Electric-type STAB move alongside Volt Switch. Hidden Power Ice can be used to hit opposing Grass-types and Dragon-types such as Hydreigon, which resist Rotom-C's STAB combination. Will-O-Wisp is a valid choice for this slot, but it's risky to be locked into such a move, so it's mainly used after Rotom-C has Tricked away its Choice Specs. Trick is used to cripple dedicated special walls such as Blissey that like to switch into Rotom-C. Set Details Choice Specs is used to boost Rotom-C's already good Special Attack, making it a fearsome offensive pivot. Maximum EVs are invested into Special Attack and Speed so Rotom-C can hit as hard and fast as possible. Timid is the preferred nature to outspeed threats such as Nidoking, Chandelure, and Mamoswine, which can OHKO Rotom-C with their respective STAB moves. However, you can opt for a Modest nature if you would like the extra boost in power. Usage Tips This set is based around Rotom-C being a very hard-hitting offensive pivot. It should make use of its ability to take Water- and Ground-type moves easily to switch in. It has to watch out for Ice Beam on Water-types, though. Go for Volt Switch if there are dedicated special walls ready to switch in so as to keep momentum on your side. Tricking away the Choice Specs to these walls is also an option should you not need the boost in power for the rest of the game. Leaf Storm should be used if you predict a Ground-type switching in to take a Volt Switch or Thunderbolt. However, do not be reckless with spamming Leaf Storm, as Rotom-C could become easy setup fodder if it's locked into it. The hit-and-run nature of this set somewhat alleviates that. If you decide to run Will-O-Wisp, avoid getting locked into it while still holding the Choice Specs. Team Options Rotom-C usually switches in and out numerous times as a pivot, so it'd be easily worn down by Stealth Rock. Hence entry hazard removal is very important. Entry hazard support is also good to have, as Rotom-C forces a significant number of switches. A notable partner for this is Tentacruel, resisting Ice-, Poison-, and Fire-type moves that Rotom-C is weak to. Rotom-C can't do much to dedicated special walls such as Florges and Blissey, so strong physical attackers, such as Darmanitan and Infernape, are appreciated. These Pokemon also provide a nice VoltTurn core with Rotom-C and appreciate having bulky Water- and Ground-type Pokemon such as Suicune and Gligar removed. Their ability to take out opposing Grass-types that resist Rotom-C's STAB combination, most notably Mega Sceptile due to Lightning Rod, also helps. Cleaners, such as Life Orb Yanmega and Mega Sharpedo, make nice partners to finish up the game once Rotom-C has sufficiently weakened the opposing team.

While Rotom-C is one of the best Choice item users in RU, one shouldn't forget its useful resistances to Electric-, Water-, and Grass-type moves. With this set, Rotom-C has more flexibility in its play, as it can check many top threats such as Slowking and Sceptile while still posing as a legitimate offensive threat, as it still has the same power as the Choice Scarf set. Rotom-C's STABs really shine here, as they hit many common physical attackers in RU for super effective damage. Will-O-Wisp is Rotom-C's status move of choice on this set. The resulting burn cripples many physical attackers; Druddigon, Gallade, and Escavalier are just a few of the Pokemon shut down by a burn. However, be aware that most offensive variants of Gallade do run a Lum Berry. If slowing down the opposing team is more beneficial to its team, Rotom-C can opt to use Thunder Wave as its status move. This allows it to cripple physical and special attackers alike. Volt Switch is preferred in the next slot as it retains Rotom-C's overall utility and scouting abilities. If power is desired over general utility, Thunderbolt can be used over Volt Switch to give Rotom-C a way to go on the offensive without being forced to lower its Special Attack. Leaf Storm is an absolute must in the third slot, as it lets Rotom-C directly deal with the likes of Golurk and Rhydon without having to resort to burning them. Thanks to its ability to switch moves, Rotom-C can use Leaf Storm much more freely than either of the Choice sets, as it can Volt Switch out after using Leaf Storm. In the final slot, Rotom-C can use either Pain Split or Hidden Power Fire. Although it's fairly unreliable, Pain Split is Rotom-C's only means of recovery outside of Rest. Hidden Power Fire provides Rotom-C with a means of damaging Grass-types such as Sceptile, Ferroseed, and opposing Rotom-C. The EV spread allows Rotom-C to outspeed all positive base 80s. However, if the extra Speed isn't needed, Rotom-C can choose to invest more in its bulk. An alternate spread of 168 HP / 252 SpA / 88 Spe with a Modest nature can be used to gain more bulk to take hits with while still outspeeding the likes of Omastar and Bouffalant. However, the inability to outspeed Gallade and Kabutops hurts Rotom-C's ability to keep them in check. This Rotom-C really appreciates teammates that can handle Fire-types, as all of them can come in for free on Will-O-Wisp and resist Leaf Storm. Qwilfish, Rhydon, and Slowking can check Fire-types and support Rotom-C in various ways. Most Grass-types can switch into Rotom-C with relative ease, although Thunder Wave and Hidden Power Fire can catch them by surprise. Still, a check to them will ease the pressure on Rotom-C. Fire-types such as Emboar, Moltres, and Entei can handle most Grass-types. Alternatively, you can turn to Sap Sipper Pokemon such as Bouffalant and Miltank to handle opposing Grass-types. Wish support can help Rotom-C stay around longer as Pain Split is far from reliable. Alomomola is perfect for this, as it's one of the best checks to Entei and Emboar in RU and it also possesses the largest Wish in the tier. Although this set is more supportive, entry hazard support is still appreciated. Rhydon, Druddigon, and Qwilfish are all capable of providing such support and checking various Fire-types for Rotom-C. Druddigon can even check various Grass-types.

战术分析
Rotom-C is most commonly seen using a Choice Scarf, and for good reason. It has just about everything you could ever ask for in a Choice Scarf user. It has a great base 105 Special Attack, solid base 86 Speed that lets it outspeed most unboosted threats and even some boosted threats, a good set of resistances to switch in easily, and a momentum grabbing attack in Volt Switch. Volt Switch is what makes this set amazing. Even if it's prepared for, Rotom-C can simply use Volt Switch early on to scout how the opponent intends on playing against it. Leaf Storm is Rotom-C's signature move and it also crushes virtually any Pokemon trying to block Volt Switch, including Rhydon, Golurk, Lanturn, and Manectric. However, you must take caution in utilizing Leaf Storm, as the resulting Special Attack drop will make Rotom-C setup bait for many dangerous sweepers. With Thunderbolt, Rotom-C becomes one of the hardest late-game cleaners to stop in RU, as its combination of Speed and power will be too much for any team that has had its checks and counters weakened or KOed over the course of the match. Despite this, Hidden Power Fire is still a worthy option. With it, Rotom-C gains the ability to effectively revenge kill Sceptile and Durant—both of which are very dangerous attackers in RU—in a moment's notice. Hidden Power Fire also prevents Ferroseed from walling Rotom-C. With Trick, Rotom-C is able to cripple walls such as Ferroseed and Clefable, two Pokemon that prevent Rotom-C from revenge killing its targets. With an important wall crippled by Trick, Rotom-C's teammates will find it much easier to execute their sweeps. A Timid nature is used so Rotom-C is able to outspeed as many threats as possible. Rotom-C can't risk running a Modest nature, as it is then outsped by boosted positive base 80s such as Medicham, Braviary, and Kabutops. Like with any other Choice Scarf user, Rotom-C appreciates entry hazard support. Smeargle, Accelgor, Scolipede, and Qwilfish can all set up various forms of entry hazards. The first three are seen on more offensive teams while Qwilfish is seen on more balanced teams. Qwilfish also has surprisingly good defensive synergy with Rotom-C. After Rotom-C uses Leaf Storm, it is often forced out by Fire-types such as Entei and Emboar, so Qwilfish makes for a solid switch-in to these two threats in particular. Although Volt Switch and Thunderbolt can dent them, a check to Fire-types is still advised so Rotom-C can use Leaf Storm more freely. Slowking, Lanturn, and Poliwrath work as solid partners for the same reason as Qwilfish. Grass-types in general give Rotom-C trouble, as it will be unable to do much of anything to them without Hidden Power Fire. Fire-types such as Entei, Emboar, and Typhlosion may be enemies to Rotom-C, but they are also great partners for it, as they are solid answers to most Grass-types in the tier. The first two can even deal with sleep thanks to Sleep Talk, while Typhlosion has a powerful Choice Specs Eruption that can quickly weaken an opposing team for Rotom-C to clean up. Like with any other Volt Switch user, Rotom-C works well on VoltTurn teams, so Pokemon that can utilize Volt Switch or U-turn, such as Braviary, Manectric, and Mesprit, can all work nicely with Rotom-C.

When donning a pair of Choice Specs, Rotom-C becomes one of the tier's most powerful wallbreakers. This Rotom-C is particularly effective against more balanced teams thanks to its immediate power, solid resistances, and good Speed. Rotom-C seems outclassed by the likes of Typhlosion and Slowking, but it has one major move over them: Volt Switch. With a Choice Specs boost, Volt Switch hits much harder than you might originally think, and can give many opponents quite the surprise. Leaf Storm is just brutal on this set; virtually anything without a resistance to the move is 2HKOed at worst. Even some Pokemon that resist the move can be dealt with after Stealth Rock. Sceptile and Tangrowth are 2HKOed with Stealth Rock support alone while Galvantula gets OHKOed under the same conditions. Furthermore, Leaf Storm still hits relatively hard after the Special Attack drop on this set. That said, bulkier setup sweepers such as Gallade can still effectively set up after the Special Attack drop from Leaf Storm. Thunderbolt is preferred in the third slot to give Rotom-C a reliable STAB option to use as it has no drawbacks. Assuming a Modest nature, it also OHKOes Entei and Typhlosion and has an 87.5% chance to OHKO 4/0 Emboar after Stealth Rock. In spite of this, Hidden Power Fire is a viable option on this set. With the power boost from Choice Specs, Hidden Power Fire allows Rotom-C to run through the likes of Escavalier, Steelix, and Ferroseed. In the last slot, Trick is the main option as it lets Rotom-C cripple various walls for the remainder of the match. However, if you want both Thunderbolt and Hidden Power Fire, Trick can be eschewed to get the best of both worlds. As Choice Specs Rotom-C relies more on its power rather than its Speed, 208 Speed EVs are used to get the jump on base 80 Speed Pokemon. The remaining 48 HP EVs improve Rotom-C's overall bulk. The nature choice is also a fairly tough one, as both have their merits. With a Modest nature, Rotom-C gets a sizable power boost that lets it break down most Fire-types with Stealth Rock support alone, cutting down on its dependency on its teammates to help it with them. However, because Kabutops, Mesprit, and Braviary sometimes use positive Speed natures, Timid can be used to ensure Rotom-C outspeeds all unboosted variants of these Pokemon. The only other move to really even consider on this set is Hidden Power Ice, as it is the only move Rotom-C has that actually does any sort of decent damage to Druddigon, scoring a 2HKO with the boost from Choice Specs. This Rotom-C really appreciates entry hazard support to maximize its wallbreaking potential. With Stealth Rock alone, Rotom-C is able to seriously dent or outright KO most Fire-types with Thunderbolt. Pokemon such as Smeargle, Druddigon, and Uxie can set up Stealth Rock with relative ease. Spikes support is also welcomed, as most of Rotom-C's checks are grounded. Qwilfish, Accelgor, and Scolipede are all fine options for such support. Steel-types such as Steelix and Klinklang are solid teammates for checking Druddigon. The former can set up Stealth Rock while the latter can take advantage of fallen Water- and Fire-types and prepare a sweep with Shift Gear. As Choice Specs Rotom-C really doesn't have any "counters" in the strictest sense of the word, good offensive teammates are generally those who can capitalize on the Pokemon Rotom-C defeats. Choice Scarf Emboar is a prime example of this. It can check most Grass-types that switch into Rotom-C's STAB moves and it will have a much easier time cleaning up with Flare Blitz once Rotom-C weakens or KOes the opponent's Water- and Fire-types. Omastar, offensive Accelgor, and Entei are other examples that have an easier time sweeping or cleaning when Water- and Fire-types are removed.

Rotom-C is commonly seen as an offensive monster, but it also has often overlooked base 107 defenses, which permit it to function as a semi-bulky sweeper. A significant HP investment is used to remedy its low base 50 HP, which bolsters the effect of Pain Split, granting a greater health recovery while dealing greater damage to the opponent. Thunderbolt can be used to dish out more damage to enemy Pokemon, but Volt Switch permits switching to a more suitable teammate, thereby keeping momentum. Will-O-Wisp is useful for neutralizing enemy physical attackers. Alternatively, if physical attackers do not pose a threat to your team, Thunder Wave can be considered for its ability to cripple faster threats You can customize the EV spread of Rotom-C to your needs, increasing the Special Attack EVs as necessary. The defensive spread on Rotom-C is useful for defeating Ground- and Water-types. This defensive Rotom-C set is specially tailored to combat Krookodile, Rhyperior without Megahorn, Scarfed Flygon, Sharpedo, and offensive Swampert, just to name a few. A specially defensive spread is not used because its niche role is already fulfilled by Roserade. The bulky set's teammates should play off its ability to pivot for momentum while inflicting status for the team's needs. Anti-Fire-type support is needed for Rotom-C to function to its best potential, because they are immune to the effects of Will-O-Wisp, resist Leaf Storm, and can even retaliate with their own super effective STAB attacks. A good candidate for fighting Fire-types is Blastoise, which also has the ability to spin away Stealth Rock from the field, which causes irritating residual damage to Rotom-C. Offensive threats which appreciate the removal of bulky Water-types —for example, Slowbro and Suicune—make good partners to Rotom-C, thanks to Volt Switch's ability to gain momentum. Some of these threats include Heracross and Darmanitan.

When donning a Choice Scarf, Rotom-C functions as a very powerful revenge killer, with its 140 Base Power STAB Leaf Storm being able to OHKO multiple frail enemies in the UU metagame, including but not limited to Sableye and Mienshao. Meanwhile, Volt Switch can be used to gain momentum on the opponent by switching out to counter whatever your foe just switched in, although if you predict a Ground-type switch-in, you can use Leaf Storm to, more often than not, OHKO it. Trick can be used to nullify a dedicated special wall's utility, and because special tanks, such as Snorlax and Porygon2, make for good switch-ins to Rotom-C, it is relatively easy to predict a switch. Rotom-C's dual STABs, although deadly to Water-types, are unfortunately resisted by Grass-types. A Hidden Power on Rotom-C can be used to relieve this burden, but most Grass-types are only 2HKOed by Hidden Power and can take action against Rotom-C. Fret not, as Volt Switch on Rotom-C does just the job by allowing you to switch out to an appropriate Grass-type counter. Math dictates that a STAB neutral Thunderbolt does more damage than a super effective Hidden Power. However, Hidden Power can come in handy sometimes when you need to immediately eliminate specific threats such as Ferroseed, Escavalier, Gligar, and Flygon. A standard EV spread is used; the remaining 4 EVs are sent to Special Defense to give Porygon2 and Porygon-Z an Attack boost if they use Download. A Timid nature is preferred on Rotom-C in order to outspeed positive natured base 85 Speed Pokemon, especially Jolly Heracross. Will-O-Wisp and Thunder Wave are plausible options for neutering threats such as Snorlax and non-Substitute Raikou, allowing teammates to deal with them easily. However, care must be taken when using those moves as being locked into a non-damaging move can be taken advantage of by the opponent to set up with dangerous Pokemon such as Swords Dance Heracross. Blastoise is a good partner for Rotom-C, spinning away Stealth Rock from the field while blocking Fire-type attacks from threats such as Darmanitan, which outspeeds Rotom-C. Rotom-C is able to support Spikes stackers thanks to its offensive presence, being able to annihilate common spinners such as Blastoise, Claydol, and even Hitmontop. An exceptional Spikes user that pairs well with Rotom-C is Qwilfish, as it resists the Bug-, Ice-, Poison-, and Fire-type moves that are dangerous for Rotom-C, while Rotom-C provides Electric and Ground resistances.

Rotom-C is gifted with an amazing STAB move combination; Leaf Storm's sheer power can deal massive amounts of damage even to resistances while Thunderbolt offers more consistent power. Thunderbolt is used when the switching out granted by Volt Switch is not necessary, permitting you to attack repeatedly without having to remove Rotom-C from the field. The extra power from the Choice Specs allows you to OHKO frail Pokemon, such as Nidoking, Nidoqueen, Raikou, Lanturn, Medicham, and more, with Leaf Storm. Grass-types resist both of Rotom-C's STABs, but you can use Volt Switch to switch into an appropriate teammate to deal with them. Trick is also useful to cripple defensive or support opponents permanently, such as Snorlax, Umbreon, and Uxie, allowing a teammate to finish them off. Choice Specs Rotom-C is more commonly seen on offensive teams due to its sheer power, but you can also use it as a pivot for bulky offense or semi-stall teams. Choice Specs grants Rotom-C major offensive presence, allowing it to hit like a truck and 2HKO a large number of UU Pokemon. Thanks to its many resistances and one immunity to common attacking types, Rotom-C generally has many opportunities to switch in, especially on Earthquakes and Thunderbolts. Since Choice Specs Rotom-C is mainly a wallbreaker, Pokemon that enjoy the removal or weakening of Gligar, Rhyperior, and bulky Water-types such as Slowbro make great partners for this set. Good candidates include Choice Scarf Darmanitan and Heracross.

This set is a good lure because Rotom-C is running a Choice set most of the time, and as such, opponents who expect you to be locked into Thunderbolt may daringly switch their Swampert, Lanturn, or Quagsire in, only to be OHKOed by a powerful Leaf Storm. This set works better on more balanced teams, as it sacrifices power and speed for bulk, semi-reliable recovery, and the ability to switch moves, while also packing a status move to support its team. Leaf Storm is the main offensive move used as usual, but it is hard to use on this set, since it will be extremely weakened after the first use. Thunderbolt or Volt Switch is the staple move for weakened enemies, so Rotom-C doesn't have to switch out early due to a lack of power. Pain Split is semi-reliable recovery which also damages the opponent as a bonus. The EVs are customizable; the ones used here maximize Rotom-C's offensive prowess, with a Timid nature to outpace Life Orb Nidoking, Timid Togekiss, non-Scarf Heracross, and Kingdra. A more defensive spread can also be used, with 120 HP EVs and a Modest nature to get a better use of Rotom-C's resistances and force even more switches. With this spread, Rotom-C can outrun an Adamant Honchkrow and force it to Sucker Punch, although the best option against it is probably Will-O-Wisp anyway. Since Snorlax and Umbreon wall Rotom-C, Fighting-types, such as Heracross and Hitmontop, should be included as teammates. You can customize your Rotom-C with 140, 208, or 220 Speed EVs, with the remainder dumped into HP, to outspeed different prominent threats, such as Honchkrow, neutral-natured base 80s such as Gallade and Togekiss, and positive-natured base 70 Speeds such as Bisharp respectively.

Moves Rotom-A can maximize its utility options by using Pain Split as its primary recovery option. Despite being unreliable, Rotom-A can easily heal on special walls like Clefable and Blissey due to its immunity to Seismic Toss. Substitute maximizes Pain Split and gives it more reliability. Substitute blocks status, making Clefable without Encore and Blissey complete setup bait. It also gives Rotom-A a free chance to burn Tyranitar and other Pursuit users such as Scizor. As Substitute limits Rotom-A's offensive options, it can instead use a coverage move such as Shadow Ball, Hydro Pump, and Blizzard. Shadow Ball notably allows Rotom-A to damage opposing Rotom-A and Gengar, while Hydro Pump and Blizzard provide additional coverage. Hydro Pump hammers Heatran and Ground-types such as Hippowdon trying to phaze Substitute Rotom-A, while Blizzard OHKOes Taunt Gliscor, Flygon, Breloom, and Dragonite trying to take advantage of it. Will-O-Wisp is perfect alongside Substitute or the coverage moves, as it burns Steel-types that otherwise wall Rotom-A and gives it an option to threaten Tyranitar. Thunderbolt allows it to KO Water-types and is its main offensive option with Substitute. Set Details This specific EV spread aims to make Rotom-A outspeed as many Pokemon as possible so that it can get a Substitute up, burn Gliscor before it can use Taunt, and then maximize its bulk. Rotom-A can minimize its HP and instead invest in Special Attack EVs to get as much health back as possible from Pain Split and power up its coverage moves, but since Rotom-A's HP stat is low, it should otherwise aim to maximize HP to be as bulky as possible. Rotom-A generally tries to have a specific Speed stat and then invest the rest into bulk or Special Attack. Some common examples include 64 Speed EVs to outspeed neutral-natured Tyranitar, Empoleon, and Swampert; 164 Speed EVs to outspeed positive-natured Tyranitar; 220 Speed EVs to outspeed Gyarados, Dragonite, and Breloom; and 188 Speed EVs with a Timid nature to outspeed Heatran, Adamant Lucario, and defensive Latias. As these are crowded Speed tiers, it can be beneficial to invest a few more Speed EVs to outspeed the benchmark. When using not as much Speed EVs, it is recommended to use a Modest nature to maximize Rotom-A's coverage options. Especially if it does not have Substitute, Rotom-A can use a few different items. Leftovers is the most prominent, as it allows Rotom-A to neutralize sand damage and make more Substitutes. A more offensive option is to use Life Orb, as Rotom-A can heal with Pain Split and do a lot of damage, but watch out for foes trying to take advantage of Substitute. Without Substitute, some other options include Colbur Berry to survive Tyranitar's Pursuit and other Dark-type attacks, Custap Berry to get one last attack or Pain Split off, and Expert Belt to take advantage of its type coverage are all options. Usage Tips Rotom-A should be cautious when it comes in and either lead or come in using its resistances or immunities, as while it can mitigate residual damage with Pain Split, it isn't bulky enough to stave off heavy damage. With Substitute, it should try to set up as soon as possible on something it forces out such as Skarmory or Gyarados. Take the opportunity to either heal up or spread burns with Will-O-Wisp. Despite its prowess against special walls, it still can perform defensive roles such as block Rapid Spin from defensive Starmie and burn Steel-types. In the lead position, Rotom-A can use Will-O-Wisp and its coverage to take advantage of physical leads, but watch out for Tyranitar. More offensive versions of utility Rotom-A, especially without recovery or Leftovers, get worn down quickly. Team Options Rotom-A fits on a wide variety of teams due to its unique typing and ability to block Rapid Spin. Utility Rotom-A is commonly featured alongside entry hazards and Pokemon that give it a free switch in with its immunities. A prominent example is Heatran, as Heatran's Fighting- and Ground-type weaknesses give Rotom-A plenty of opportunities to switch in. Common Spikers alongside utility Rotom-A include Roserade and Skarmory. With Roserade and Heatran, Swampert forms a Fire / Water / Grass core while offensively checking Tyranitar. Another common Water-type with Heatran and Roserade is offensive Suicune, which appreciates Rotom-A taking advantage of special walls and spreading burns. Other checks to Tyranitar, such as Trick + Iron Ball Metagross and defensive Jirachi, are appreciated. As these Fire / Water / Grass cores can struggle with multiple Dragon Dance sweepers, Choice Scarf Flygon and Hippowdon can be excellent partners. Alongside Skarmory, Pain Split gives Rotom-A more offensive coverage and Speed than with the defensive set. It spreads burns, staves off Clefable with Pain Split, and switches into Fighting-types. Prominent partners include offensive Calm Mind Jirachi, Choice Specs Latias, and Heatran. Choice Scarf Lucario can absorb Rotom-A's revenge killing responsibilities.

Moves Rotom-A's typing, ability, and bulk make it the best defensive spinblocker in the metagame. Rest and Sleep Talk are Rotom-A's only form of recovery outside of Pain Split and prevent it from succumbing to status and residual damage. It also makes Rotom-A a reliable sleep absorber; however, without Shadow Ball, Rotom-A struggles to damage Breloom while getting 3HKOed by Seed Bomb. Rest also gives Rotom-A a massive stock of PP, making it useful for PP staling. Rotom-A's most prominent attacking move is Thunderbolt, which OHKOes Gyarados. Thunderbolt also hits Steel-types such as Heatran, Metagross, Empoleon, and Scizor and at least 2HKOes Starmie and Skarmory. However, as Thunderbolt is useless against Ground-types and can't hit Breloom well, another option is to use Shadow Ball. Shadow Ball prevents RestTalk Rotom-A from being completely unable to damage Taunt Gliscor while also hitting Ghost-weak targets such as Gengar, opposing Rotom-A, and Starmie hard. For the last slot, Rotom-A can either spread burns effectively with Will-O-Wisp or maintain better coverage with both Shadow Ball and Thunderbolt. Will-O-Wisp is preferred, as being able to burn foes is one of Rotom-A's core niches. It notably is the best response to Tyranitar, as it will not enjoy a burn unless it has a Lum Berry. Will-O-Wisp also limits switch-ins to foes immune to burn damage such as Clefable, Heatran, Camerupt, and Breloom after Toxic Orb activates. Additionally, Natural Cure Pokemon such as Celebi and Blissey can pivot in on Will-O-Wisp. Another option for an Electric-type attack is Discharge, but it suffers from being noticeably weaker than Thunderbolt and potentially giving unwanted paralysis. Set Details Rotom-A generally needs all of the physical bulk it can get to stave off Tyranitar, Metagross, Machamp, and Lucario. Take care that absolute maximum HP investment Rotom-A makes its HP stat divisible by 16, increasing the damage it takes from sand and heals from Leftovers. Rotom-A also is at a crowded Speed tier—many Pokemon such as Empoleon, Tyranitar, Swampert, Machamp, and Breloom aim to outspeed minimum Speed Rotom-A. As a result, it can invest 56 EVs to outspeed maximum Speed neutral nature Tyranitar, Empoleon, and Swampert. Additionally, Rotom-A can add some Special Defense EVs to better handle special coverage from Swampert, survive Gengar's Shadow Ball, and help prevent Starmie's Rapid Spin; however, going with a fully specially defensive RestTalk Rotom-A is not advised due to its huge Pursuit weakness. A few Special Attack EVs, such as 20 EVs, also help Thunderbolt break maximum HP Breloom's Substitute guaranteed and give better chances to OHKO Starmie and Skarmory. Usage Tips Rotom-A should generally be used early to spread burns and block Rapid Spin, preferably before Breloom has activated its Toxic Orb. Rotom-A can lead, as it has good matchups against all common physical leads with the exception of Tyranitar and is immune to Explosion. Mastering the timing of when to use Rest with Rotom-A is critical, as it only has a 24.8% chance to burn physical attackers such as Tyranitar while asleep. Rotom-A should generally be careful about trying to block Rapid Spin too much, as offensive Starmie sets can OHKO Rotom-A with Hydro Pump, while defensive Starmie and Forretress can 3HKO it in sand with Surf and Payback, respectively. Other than these, there are nuances with its usage depending on matchup. Against offensive teams, Rotom-A is difficult to handle, as foes typically absorb burns with either Heatran, Refresh Swampert, Lum Berry Tyranitar, or Breloom. These teams also typically lack reliable Rapid Spin users, meaning Rotom-A can lean fully into its defensive roll and more recklessly wall opposing physical attackers and spread burns. As Heatran cannot absorb Rotom-A's Thunderbolts forever, aggressively predicting it as it comes in can wear it down easily. Be careful against Metagross and Bronzong, as they can give Rotom-A an Iron Ball with Trick and ruin its ability to handle physical attackers with Earthquake. Despite being able to handle Gyarados, Rotom-A should not be the primary answer, as boosted Gyarados 2HKOes with Waterfall and can make Rotom-A flinch—in addition, Gyarados survives Thunderbolt with a Wacan Berry even after Stealth Rock, meaning it can break through Rotom-A coming in on Dragon Dance. Rotom-A should be kept away from foes that can set up or otherwise take advantage of it, including sweepers with Lum Berry such as Dragon Dance Dragonite and Tyranitar; mixed attackers such as Dragonite, Flygon, and Swampert; Taunt users such as Gliscor; and faster Substitute users such as Substitute + Calm Mind Jirachi and Breloom. Against more defensive teams, Rotom-A's main value are its ability to block Rapid Spin, huge pool of PP, and handling problem Pokemon such as Skarmory, Breloom, physical Jirachi, and Starmie. Since Clefable is commonly the first switch-in to Rotom-A due to being immune to burn damage, absorbing its Knock Off with Rotom-A is one of the better ways to PP stall it, as Clefable cannot threaten it outside of Calm Mind, and Rotom-A will always be able to use Rest if sand is active. Once Rotom-A goes to sleep, not using Sleep Talk greatly increases how much PP Rotom-A has, to 108 if Rotom-A has Thunderbolt and Will-O-Wisp. Team Options RestTalk Rotom-A provides valuable defensive niches and spinblocking. On more defensive teams, it keeps entry hazards up and spreads burns. Spikes setters such as Skarmory and Forretress appreciate this, as neither can prevent Starmie, Donphan, or opposing Forretress from using Rapid Spin. Rotom-A prevents Machamp from spamming Dynamic Punch, meaning prominent Fighting-weak walls such as Tyranitar, Clefable, and Blissey appreciate its presence. Clefable also removes items with Knock Off for adding onto residual damage. Tyranitar provides sand and traps prominent Pokemon that threaten Rotom-A such as Gengar and offensive Starmie. Both Clefable and Blissey can provide cleric support for Rotom-A. All three provide a switch-in to Heatran, which greatly threatens Rotom-A with Flash Fire. Rotom-A is a possible choice on big 5 defensive archetypes over the typical Ground-type alongside Skarmory, Choice Scarf Tyranitar, Clefable, defensive Latias, and Jirachi. Both offensive and defensive Jirachi sets work: offensive sets appreciate the Spikes and residual damage Rotom-A helps to wrack up, while defensive Jirachi helps shore the team against Dragon Dance sweepers such as Dragonite and Tyranitar that Rotom-A struggles with. Defensive Jirachi also enjoys foes worn down due to Will-O-Wisp and appreciates Rotom-A hitting Skarmory hard. Other bulky Steel-types such as Bronzong are great choices, especially for fully Spikes-immune teams. Additionally, Hippowdon, Celebi, and defensive Gyarados can also make solid partners, as they further answer powerful sweepers and are effective with Spikes. Rotom-A's defensive prowess make it a strong partner for more offensive Spikes-based partners as well, as it has more resilience than more frail spinblockers such as Gengar and Choice Scarf Rotom-A. Alongside Swampert and Skarmory, Rotom-A does not have to worry about Tyranitar as much, as entry hazards wear Tyranitar down, while Swampert at least 2HKOes it. Both offensive and defensive Latias sets are fantastic partners for Rotom-A: Choice Specs Latias hammers Tyranitar and weakens it heavily so that it can’t handle Rotom-A effectively, while defensive Latias's resistances and bulk ease some of Rotom-A's defensive responsibilities against attackers such as Gyarados and Breloom. Choice Scarf Lucario takes on a revenge killing duty against attackers that can set up and OHKO Rotom-A, such as Lum Berry Dragon Dance Dragonite and Dragon Dance Tyranitar. Mixed Flygon is an excellent partner, as its offensive prowess is greatly enhanced by Spikes, and it enjoys Rotom-A switching into Steel-types such as Bronzong and offensive Jirachi and burning them. Empoleon is another excellent partner, as it removes items with Knock Off, and Rotom-A is immune to or resists all of its weaknesses. It also helps against specially offensive Water-types such as Kingdra that Rotom-A cannot deal with. Tyranitar can take on a more offensive role, such as Choice Band to remove special walls or Starmie guaranteed or Dragon Dance to take advantage of Spikes wearing down its answers.

战术分析
Moves Rotom-A's Speed tier and good coverage make it an excellent revenge killer with a Choice Scarf. Thunderbolt is Rotom-A's strongest attack, revenge killing Water-types such as Gyarados, Suicune, and Empoleon. Rotom-A has many different coverage options it can use. Overheat is a prominent one, as despite doing almost nothing to Pursuit Tyranitar, it is fantastic at revenge killing Steel-types that can shrug off a Thunderbolt such as Lucario without a Special Defense drop, Metagross, and especially Scizor. It also nails Grass-types such as Breloom, Roserade, and Shaymin. Another choice is Hydro Pump, which crucially 2HKOes bulkless Tyranitar after Stealth Rock and prevents Rotom-A from being Pursuit trapped if Rotom-A hits it on the switch. It also hits Heatran trying to absorb Will-O-Wisp and Ground-types immune to Thunderbolt such as Hippowdon, Mamoswine, and Camerupt. Leaf Storm OHKOes Swampert and Gastrodon while also dissuading Tyranitar from switching in. Shadow Ball completes Rotom-A's coverage, as it prominently hits Latias, Gengar, and other Rotom-A while providing good neutral coverage should Rotom-A not use one of its forme moves. Hidden Power Ice is another excellent option, as it KOes Dragonite after Stealth Rock, OHKOes Flygon, and threatens Gliscor. Hidden Power Ice both is more reliable than Rotom-F's Blizzard and does enough damage to its targets. Rounding out the set is Trick, as it is a fantastic way of crippling a special wall such as Clefable, Latias, or Blissey. Trick can also stop a boosted sweeper by locking them into one attack, although doing this often leads to sacrificing Rotom-A. Another option is Will-O-Wisp, which burns Tyranitar on the switch in to survive a potential Pursuit trap attempt. As the only move Choice Scarf Rotom-A needs is Thunderbolt, it is free to mix and match as needed for its team. Set Details Rotom-A generally should be running maximum Special Attack and Speed EVs, as it has 447 Speed after the Choice Scarf boost and sits at a crowded Speed tier. Maximum Special Attack EVs notably give it the best chance to KO opposing Rotom-A and 2HKO Latias with Shadow Ball, KO Wacan Berry Gyarados without Stealth Rock with Thunderbolt, 2HKO bulkless Tyranitar after Stealth Rock with Hydro Pump, and KO Dragonite with Hidden Power Ice after Stealth Rock. However, Rotom-A can spare some HP EVs to better survive Tyranitar's Pursuit, Scizor, Lucario's boosted Bullet Punch, and Gyarados's +1 Waterfall. The fastest threat it needs to revenge kill besides other Rotom-A is Modest Agility Empoleon, which requires 236 Speed EVs. Another choice is to drop down to 188 Speed EVs to outspeed Adamant Lucario and Heatran without the Choice Scarf. Rotom-A can also use less Special Attack EVs: it achieves the bulkless Dragonite KO after Stealth Rock with Hidden Power Ice with 160 Special Attack EVs. A common choice for bulkier Rotom-A spreads is to minimize sand damage with the desired Speed and put the rest in Special Attack: some example EV spreads would be 56 HP / 216 SpA / 236 Spe, which minimizes sand damage while maximizing the other stats, and 108 HP / 164 SpA / 236 Spe, which KOes Gyarados after Stealth Rock through Wacan Berry, survives +1 Waterfall after Stealth Rock, and still outspeeds +2 Modest Empoleon. Usage Tips Choice Scarf Rotom-A should switch in sparingly or via its immunities, as it is not very bulky, its Choice-locked moves are easy to set up on, and it is vulnerable to Pursuit. It enjoys switching in either when a foe such as Gyarados, Lucario, or Scizor sets up or after a KO to appropriately deal with the threat. This can be dangerous, however, as all of them can hit Rotom-A hard on the switch. Keeping Rotom-A hidden also can allow it to sweep late-game against weakened threats should its checks be removed. This is especially prevalent against frail hyper offensive teams or those without a Ground-type. Rotom-A's Trick is an excellent weapon to cripple walls and setup sweepers alike, but make sure Rotom-A's Speed is no longer needed. Beware of opponents switching in another Choice Scarf Pokemon to nullify it or, worse, a Choice Scarf Tyranitar and Pursuit trapping Rotom-A. Another complication is with Knock Off: in DPP, if either the user or foe is hit with Knock Off, Trick will fail. Be careful with using Trick around Clefable and defensive Empoleon for this reason. Team Options Choice Scarf Rotom-A is a premier revenge killer in DPP OU and features on many team styles. Most midpaced offensive teams carry a Choice Scarf revenge killer to backstop them against set-up sweepers—Rotom-A is one of the best at it with its Speed, coverage, and Trick. As Rotom-A is easily covered by the special walls in the tier, it appreciates teammates that can break though them. Breloom and Heatran are fantastic choices, as Breloom takes advantage of Tyranitar, Blissey, Clefable, and Swampert, while Heatran can trap them with Magma Storm and then burn Tyranitar, use Explosion on Blissey and Clefable, or OHKO Swampert with Hidden Power Grass. Breloom can also use Mach Punch or a bulky EV spread to revenge kill Dragon Dance Tyranitar. Another Tyranitar check, such as Machamp, bulky Metagross, or Jirachi, is appreciated. Rotom-A also enjoys other strong special attackers such as Choice Specs Latias, Zapdos, and offensive Calm Mind Jirachi to weaken Tyranitar to the point it cannot switch into Rotom-A. Rotom-A appreciates threats that can set up on a Choice-locked Pursuit: Lucario is an excellent choice, as is Dragon Dance Tyranitar. Another excellent option is Torment Heatran, as it appreciates Rotom-A's Trick to set up on Choice-locked Pokemon. As powerful Choice item attackers such as Choice Band Gyarados, Choice Specs Heatran, Choice Band Tyranitar, and Choice Specs Zapdos can get set up on if they're locked into the wrong move, Rotom-A can be a good stopgap. Choice Scarf Rotom-A is also fantastic on more frail hyper offenses as speed control and potentially a spinblocker for Spikes. Some prominent offensive partners include Dragon Dance Gyarados, Dragon Dance or mixed Tyranitar, Dragon Dance or mixed Dragonite, Swords Dance or Agility Lucario, offensive Empoleon, offensive Calm Mind Suicune, and Swords Dance Scizor. These Pokemon can set up on a Choice-locked Pursuit as well. Azelf is also an excellent choice to weaken Tyranitar with either paralysis or Explosion. Offensive Spikes Skarmory is also a good choice, as Choice Scarf Rotom-A can provide spinblocking and appreciates entry hazards wearing down its grounded answers.

Choice Scarf Rotom-A is a powerful revenge killer that outspeeds the entire unboosted metagame. Rotom-Heat's Overheat matches up better against Metagross and Bronzong, but one can change formes and use different coverage options for better matchups against different threats, such as Tyranitar or Swampert. Alternatively, Choice Scarf Rotom-A can drop a coverage move for a support move such as Thunder Wave or Will-O-Wisp and play more of a supportive role, especially after it drops its Choice Scarf with Trick. Choice Scarf Rotom-A is less focused on wallbreaking compared to Choice Specs sets, mostly a more support-oriented Pokemon early- and mid-game or a late-game cleaner. As a cleaner, Rotom-A prefers to lock into either of its STAB moves if possible, as its coverage options are less reliable and harder to spam. Overheat's and Leaf Storm's Special Attack drops greatly reduce Rotom-A's offensive pressure, while Hydro Pump's lower accuracy makes it risky to rely on for consistent damage. If Rotom-A uses a status move instead of a coverage move, then its priority is to lose its Choice Scarf with Trick and follow up with status moves to disrupt the opponent's game plan. As a lead, Choice Scarf Rotom-A can leverage its great Speed tier to get the jump on Pokemon that would normally be faster, such as Latios or Mew. In general, Rotom-A matches up well against common leads such as Metagross and Mew, threatening them with super effective damage. Additionally, more passive lead options such as Bronzong or Hitmontop hate getting a Choice Scarf from Trick. Choice Scarf Rotom-A appreciates partners that threaten Tyranitar such as Gyarados, Metagross, and Heracross, but it is less reliant on them than other Rotom-A sets to create value, as the Choice Scarf set doesn't need to spread consistent damage. Hitmontop's Fake Out gives Rotom-A free turns to use Trick or hit foes with its status moves, if it runs them.

With Choice Specs, Rotom-A becomes one of the tier's most threatening special attackers. With its nigh-unwallable coverage and solid Speed tier, Rotom-A can pressure nearly the entire tier and force opponents into unfavorable damage trades. Thunderbolt and Shadow Ball are powerful STAB attacks that combine to hit the entire tier for at least neutral damage, while a coverage move of choice can better threaten specific foes. Overheat OHKOes Steel-types such as Metagross and Bronzong, and Hydro Pump 2HKOes Heatran and all but the bulkiest Tyranitar, while Leaf Storm OHKOes Swampert. Trick can be used to cripple support Pokemon such as Togekiss or Bronzong, which frees up Rotom-A to make use of its coverage options. Rotom-A's unique set of immunities and resistances allow for solid longevity even on this very offensive set, allowing it to use its powerful attacks without worrying about Fake Out or strong Fighting- and Ground-type moves, such as Heracross's Close Combat or Metagross's Earthquake. Choice Specs Rotom-A acts mostly as a wallbreaker, and it is particularly effective as a lead. Lead Rotom-A leverages its good defensive typing and ability to immediately pressure either of the opposing Pokemon, with Trick giving the additional option to cripple support Pokemon. As a lead, its Ghost typing gives Rotom-A a crucial immunity to Fake Out from Hitmontop and Mew, allowing Rotom-A to throw out strong attacks without the threat of being flinched. Mew in particular doesn't want to stay in on a Shadow Ball. Rotom-A appreciates teammates that can deal with Tyranitar, as it can take most of Rotom-A's attacks well while threatening super effective damage or setting up a Dragon Dance. Metagross and Heracross are good partners that threaten Tyranitar, while Rotom-A checks their counters, such as Gyarados, in return. Rotom-A doesn't appreciate trading with Sucker Punch Hitmontop or Mew, so Intimidate users such as Gyarados and your own Hitmontop make for good teammates.

Rotom-A can opt for a full-on defensive set to focus on sponging hits and providing speed control or damage reduction with status. Bulky Rotom-A can drop a status move for Protect to allow for better longevity and easier positioning. Thunder Wave is often more valuable than Will-O-Wisp, as it can take fast threats such as Latios out of the game almost entirely, while the damage reduction and chip damage from Will-O-Wisp may not provide enough value in fast-paced games. Special Defense investment is required to be able to take on Latios's Draco Meteor and opposing Rotom-A's Shadow Ball, letting Rotom-A threaten super effective damage with its own Shadow Ball—physical damage reduction is more readily available through Intimidate and your own Will-O-Wisp. Sitrus Berry is standard, as the burst healing allows Rotom-A to match up better against the tier's strong attackers, although Leftovers can be used to offset sand chip damage and synergize better with Protect. While Rotom-A is able to withstand the strongest attacks in the tier, it doesn't like to take unnecessary damage because it is often a team's defensive glue, so safely bringing Rotom-A onto the field is important. Bulky Rotom-A can be used as a lead, but once the opponent realizes it is a less aggressive set, they can take advantage of Rotom-A's low unboosted damage output. Bulky Rotom-A often trades health for the chance to status a major threat, such as Choice Specs Latios, Choice Scarf Heracross, or Dragon Dance Tyranitar. Rotom-A's low base HP makes it a great user of Pain Split, allowing for another avenue to whittle down foes while increasing longevity. Both mid-tier Speed and fast offensive Pokemon appreciate the speed control Rotom-A can provide. Pokemon such as Gyarados, Heatran, and Metagross love outspeeding threats such as Latios, Latias, or opposing Rotom-A, which would otherwise apply a lot of offensive pressure. Similarly, as teammates, these same fast threats appreciate Thunder Wave slowing down common Choice Scarf users such as Heracross, as well as allowing them to win potential mirror matches.
