战术分析

Coil Zygarde is a nigh irreplaceable staple on balance and bulky offense teams due to blanket checking the vast majority of the metagame's physical attackers while providing disruption and a bulky wincon against a variety of structures. Zygarde’s unparalleled bulk enables it to counter some of the scariest wallbreakers in Choice Band Marshadow and Swords Dance Primal Groudon. Furthermore, Zygarde’s immaculate synergy with Terastallization allows it to extend its defensive reach to wall Pokémon such as Zacian-C and Dragon Dance Necrozma-DM. Due to its immense defensive role compression and consistency, Zygarde can support a dazzling variety of Pokémon. Consequently, every balance and bulky offense team should consider Zygarde at some point in the teambuilding process, while every team needs to be able to contain it. Thousand Arrows's ability to damage Flying-types enables Zygarde to forgo the need for additional attacking moves and delve into its utility movepool to best support its team. Furthermore, the dearth of Grass- and Bug-types in National Dex Ubers means that Thousand Arrows hits nearly every relevant Pokemon for neutral damage. Glare is immensely spammable and provides team support in addition to facilitating Zygarde itself to sweep late-game once its checks have been appropriately chipped. If Zygarde is using Glare, slower teammates such as Primal Groudon and Ho-Oh should consider some minor Speed investment to outspeed paralyzed foes such as Eternatus and Zacian-C. Dragon Tail provides Zygarde the means to phaze Pokemon that may set up on it such as the Arceus formes as it bypasses Taunt, or avoid being trapped by non-Tera Fairy Gothitelle. Toxic is an additional option that annoys opposing Coil Zygarde and Ho-Oh while helping slightly against stall. However, forgoing the utility of Dragon Tail or Glare enables Pokemon such as Swords Dance Primal Groudon, Dragon Dance Necrozma-DM, and Zacian-C to easily set up on and muscle past Zygarde. Zygarde's immense bulk, especially after transformation, enables it to utilize Rest and stay healthy throughout the course of a game, enabling it to be a serviceable status absorber. This is further facilitated by free turns granted by Glare. However, Zygarde is quite vulnerable while asleep and can provide opportunities for Pokemon such as Taunt Calm Mind Arceus formes and Primal Kyogre to enter safely. The full physical bulk investment in the first EV spread is required to enable Zygarde to serve as a blanket physical wall, as it otherwise crumples against physical attackers such as Swords Dance Primal Groudon and boosted Zacian-C. The second EV spread enables Zygarde to more effectively take on special attackers aiming to exploit its lower Special Defense such as Eruption Primal Groudon and defensive Primal Kyogre while outspeeding paralyzed Zacian-C after transformation and being able to survive Tera Dragon Eternatus's +1 Dynamax Cannon after Terastallization. Although Zygarde is still an excellent physical wall and Marshadow counter, it is significantly more vulnerable to the most powerful physical attacks such as Zacian-C's +3 Behemoth Blade and Double Dance Primal Groudon's +2 Precipice Blades. Zygarde is perhaps the Pokemon that is most synergistic with Terastallization due to its ability to flip Zygarde's exploitable Ice-, Dragon-, and Fairy-type weaknesses. It often uses Terastallization to soak an attack and paralyze or phaze boosted Pokemon that would otherwise threaten it such as Dragon Dance Necrozma-DM and Play Rough Zacian-C. Tera Fairy and Water each have their merits, as they enable Zygarde to handle specific threats and should not be used interchangeably. Tera Water is Zygarde's most generally useful option. Despite the Electric-type weakness, Zygarde is able to stomach Zacian-C's +3 Wild Charge, while Zygarde's obscene bulk enables it to continue being an immovable physical wall despite a lack of notable resistances. However, maintaining a resistance to Primal Groudon's Overheat and resisting Necrozma-DM's +1 Searing Sunraze Smash, which would otherwise OHKO Zygarde, is appreciated. Tera Fairy is also an option that should be considered. Despite Tera Fairy introducing weaknesses to Zacian-C's Behemoth Blade, Dragon Dance Necrozma-DM's Sunsteel Strike, and Eternatus's Sludge Bomb, it is still extremely good. Dragon Dance Zygarde is immensely threatening to the bulky offense and balance structures Coil Zygarde anchors and is able to use Tera Water Zygarde as setup fodder. Tera Fairy Zygarde is one of the few options for defensive counterplay available to these structures while also being able to turn the tables and use Dragon Dance Zygarde to facilitate its own setup. Tera Fairy also helps Zygarde defensively against Calm Mind Arceus-Dark and physical Giratina-O, preventing the latter from phazing Zygarde with Dragon Tail. Coil Zygarde is an integral part of the defensive backbone of most bulky offense and balance teams and finds switch-in opportunities on Pokemon such as Primal Groudon and Marshadow. However, Zygarde's special bulk is middling, and it should be used cautiously against special attackers such as Primal Kyogre, Lunala, and Eternatus even if it is able to survive a hit, as relying on Rest leaves it quite vulnerable. Additionally, due to Zygarde's low Speed and reliance on status moves, it struggles with Taunt users such as Yveltal and the Arceus formes. Calm Mind Arceus formes especially often use Zygarde as setup fodder. As Zygarde lacks offensive investment, its Thousand Arrows is quite weak and struggles to threaten most Pokemon for meaningful damage until it has accumulated multiple Coil boosts. Against hyper offense teams Zygarde should focus on attempting to check or trade with a single Pokemon such as Extreme Killer Arceus, Primal Groudon, or Zacian-C, as it will rarely be given enough turns to become offensively threatening. Additionally, Zygarde is entirely deadweight against stall teams, as it is completely walled by Dondozo, but it can still provide value as a status sponge, pivot, and cleaner once Dondozo has been removed. Although Zygarde cannot make meaningful progress against stall teams, it is not threatened by stall in return with the exception of Eternatus's Dynamax Cannon, which 2HKOes it. While Zygarde may be a blanket physical wall, it is not impenetrable. Notably, Ultra Necrozma's +1 Light That Burns the Sky is capable of OHKOing Zygarde. Consequently, Zygarde requires teammates that are capable of offensively or defensively checking Ultra Necrozma such as Calm Mind Arceus-Dark, Marshadow, and Yveltal. Defensive Arceus-Dark should not be used with Coil Zygarde, as they are offensively overwhelmed by Pokemon such as Taunt Calm Mind Arceus formes, Life Orb Yveltal, and Primal Kyogre, which easily exploit the passive structures that result from this pairing. Calm Mind Arceus-Dark is sufficient Ultra Necrozma counterplay while also using Pokemon that beat Zygarde such as special utility Giratina-O, Life Orb Yveltal, and wallbreaker Eternatus to set up itself. Defensive or Swords Dance utility Primal Groudon provides a Primal Kyogre switch-in and entry hazards. Primal Groudon is also able to beat Dondozo via Overheat and eases the burden on Zygarde by excellently checking Zacian-C, which can muscle through a chipped Zygarde. Both Giratina-O and Ho-Oh provide hazard control as well as status support and phazing. which synergize to create a strong defensive backbone capable of supporting most offensive Pokemon. As Zygarde is deadweight against stall, stallbreakers such as Choice Specs Lunala, Choice Band Rayquaza, and defensive Primal Kyogre are great allies that also decimate bulkier balance teams, which easily contain Zygarde. However, Zygarde does not require a dedicated stallbreaker, as Pokemon such as Taunt Calm Mind Arceus formes and wallbreaker Eternatus more than suffice if they're positioned properly. Zacian-C is also a good option due to its ability to blanket check Taunt Arceus formes, which hinder Zygarde, while being a fast Pokemon and a thorn in the side of hyper offense teams, which can overwhelm Zygarde. As Zacian-C is similarly futile against stall, more dedicated stallbreakers are recommended alongside this duo.

Trapper Zygarde is a unique set that trades the defensive utility of Coil sets to take on a more situational setup sweeper role, often winning games on the spot if it finds a suitable target to trap, such as non-Tera Fairy Zygarde, defensive Primal Groudon, Ferrothorn, and Dondozo lacking a Water-type move. It best fits on balance and offense teams that have other means to deal with Ho-Oh, since this Coil set struggles specifically against Ho-Oh. Scale Shot's Speed boost gives Zygarde a means of deterring revenge kill attempts from faster threats such as Spectral Thief Marshadow, Eternatus, and offensive Primal Kyogre after two Speed boosts. At +6 Attack, it OHKOes offensive Yveltal and offensive Ho-Oh with 4 hits and OHKOes defensive Ho-Oh with 5 hits. 44 SpD EVs allow Zygarde to survive an unboosted Dynamax Cannon from Eternatus from full, while the rest of the EVs are invested to maximize physical bulk in order to set up on foes such as Primal Groudon safely. Tera Fairy notably prevents phazing attempts from opposing Zygarde's Dragon Tail. Moreover, Zygarde-Complete's great special bulk with minimal investment lets it trap and set up on Arceus-Dark and defensive Arceus-Fairy lacking Taunt. In a pinch, it also grants an immunity to Ultra Necrozma's Outrage and Eternatus's Dynamax Cannon. The lack of utility moves such as Glare and Dragon Tail renders Zygarde worse into physical attackers such as Swords Dance Primal Groudon, Zacian-C, Mega Salamence, and Dragon Dance Arceus-Ground. It is thus necessary not to rely on Zygarde for checking the aforementioned threats, and it should be treated as a setup sweeper instead of a wall. Opposing Tera Fairy Zygarde prevents Trapper Zygarde from getting Speed boosts, with Glare and Toxic variants in particular being problematic due to higher PP and depleting Rest quickly, respectively. However, non-Tera Fairy sets are easily trapped. Furthermore, Primal Groudon users that occasionally stay in on Zygarde to set Stealth Rock or use Toxic are also great targets for trapping with Thousand Waves. Similarly, Calm Mind Arceus-Dark can potentially lose against Tera Fairy Zygarde, as Scale Shot lets the latter bypass Taunt. Teammates such as Primal Groudon, defensive Primal Kyogre, and IronPress Garganacl are good partners that can compensate for the lack of defensive capabilities, particularly against threats like Zacian-C, Dragon Dance Necrozma-DM, and Ho-Oh. Revenge killers such as Ditto and Choice Scarf Yveltal aid Zygarde by stopping setup sweepers like Arceus-Ground and Eternatus from getting out of hand. They are especially valuable for covering the hyper offense matchup, in which Zygarde tends to be mostly deadweight, barring niche cases such as trapping lead Ribombee after Terastallizing. Zygarde's trapping capabilities work excellently with wallbreakers like Swords Dance Zacian-C, Dragon Dance Necrozma-DM, and Eruption Primal Groudon, which appreciate its capability to force Terastallization from opposing Zygarde and weaken the opposing defensive core by eliminating walls such as Zygarde and Primal Groudon.

战术分析

With its good typing, Dragon Dance Zygarde is one of the tier's best cleaners, since access to Thousand Arrows allows it more freedom to run other moves that help it set up and sweep. This makes Zygarde more difficult to stop compared to other setup sweepers such as Mega Salamence, especially combined with the great bulk from Power Construct. Despite the opportunity cost of not running the Coil variant, Dragon Dance Zygarde is a fantastic late-game sweeper for balance and bulky offense teams alike. Substitute allows Zygarde to set up on passive Pokemon, blocking moves such as Toxic, Leech Seed, and Salt Cure from Alomomola, Ferrothorn, and Garganacl, respectively. It additionally allows Zygarde to activate Power Construct more easily, which is essential for handling revenge killers such as Choice Scarf Yveltal that would otherwise pick off Zygarde with ease. Substitute helps against specially offensive Giratina-O, since it cannot break Zygarde's Substitute after Power Construct via unboosted Hex and is thus forced to waste power using Draco Meteor instead, eventually giving Zygarde a free setup opportunity once Giratina-O is forced to switch. Dragon Tail punishes phazing attempts from defensive Ho-Oh's Whirlwind and opposing Zygarde's Dragon Tail; it prevents opposing Zygarde and Garganacl from setting up alongside Zygarde unless they use Tera Fairy. Dragon Tail also forces entry hazard damage against physical walls such as Dondozo and defensive Arceus-Dark, maintaining Zygarde's offensive pressure by wearing them down repeatedly. Glare is a niche alternative that punishes offensive checks such as Mega Salamence, with paralysis potentially giving Zygarde more setup chances. The given EV spread allows Zygarde to survive an Ice Beam from uninvested Arceus formes, outspeed Eternatus and Mewtwo at +1 after Power Construct, and maximize Leftovers recovery. Groundium Z is a niche alternative, with Tectonic Rage notably OHKOing offensive Primal Kyogre and defensive Primal Groudon after a boost, although access to Terastallization is generally preferred. Tera Ground powers up Thousand Arrows, further improving Zygarde's otherwise mediocre damage. It notably allows boosted Zygarde to OHKO Marshadow and wallbreaker Primal Kyogre after Stealth Rock, as well as 2HKO Giratina-O and Calm Mind Arceus formes after Stealth Rock. Tera Ground also provides defensive benefits for Zygarde, letting it get easier setup opportunities by dropping its weaknesses to Dragon and Fairy, notably enabling Zygarde to set up against Mega Diancie and unboosted offensive Eternatus. However, Zygarde losing its Fire-type resistance may be an issue when dealing with Tera Grass Ho-Oh. Despite Zygarde typically handling physical threats such as Arceus, Mega Salamence, and Marshadow, the Dragon Dance variant is unable to check most of these threats barring defensive Primal Groudon, meaning it is ideal to keep Zygarde out of harm's way. Keeping this set as a surprise to the opponent is a major factor in what makes Dragon Dance Zygarde powerful because many would expect Coil Zygarde on balance and bulky offense teams; setting up on foes that would ordinarily switch out, such as defensive Primal Groudon and unboosted Necrozma-DM, after switching in safely, is ideal. Although Zygarde is relatively bulky after triggering Power Construct, the lack of recovery means Zygarde typically only gets one chance to set up and break through an opposing team. It is ideal to wear down teams before going in with Zygarde, even with the intent of using Tera Ground. Scouting against opposing Zygarde may be ideal before committing to Tera Ground, since opposing Tera Fairy Zygarde counters Dragon Dance Zygarde, an issue that is quite common on opposing balance and bulky offense teams. This could be done by initially phazing opposing Tera Fairy Zygarde or by using other offensive threats such as Chien-Pao. Dragon Dance Zygarde requires the opposing team to be worn down before attempting to sweep, which can be done in multiple ways. Entry hazard support from defensive Primal Groudon and Ferrothorn can help wear down Arceus formes and opposing Zygarde late-game, where Zygarde performs best. Additionally, defensive Primal Groudon can threaten opposing Tera Fairy Zygarde with Overheat, punishing it for trying to check Zygarde. On the other hand, Ferrothorn can check defensive Primal Kyogre and Arceus-Water for Zygarde, two threats that may attempt to trade with Zygarde. In return, Zygarde threatens opposing Primal Groudon and offensive Ho-Oh, which threaten Ferrothorn and defensive Primal Groudon. There are a lot of Pokemon that synergize with Dragon Dance Zygarde offensively. Swords Dance Primal Groudon, Marshadow, and Dragon Dance Arceus-Ground can all overwhelm opposing Coil Zygarde in conjunction with Zygarde. The latter two have a great matchup against opposing offense teams with threats such as Extreme Killer Arceus, something Zygarde struggles against. Zacian-C and Necrozma-DM can punish opposing Tera Fairy Zygarde and Dondozo, while Zygarde can use their checks like opposing Tera Water Zygarde and defensive Primal Groudon as setup fodder. Special attackers such as Primal Kyogre, Eternatus, and Calm Mind Arceus formes appreciate Dragon Dance Zygarde breaking past specially defensive walls such as Ferrothorn, Chansey, and defensive Ho-Oh, while they handle checks to Zygarde such as opposing Tera Fairy Zygarde, Tera Fairy IronPress Garganacl, and Dondozo. Eternatus is notable because not only does it threaten these physical walls after Tera Fairy, but it also absorbs Toxic Spikes, maintaining Zygarde's longevity for it to have a better chance at sweeping; defensive Eternatus variants can additionally wear down soft checks to Zygarde such as defensive Primal Kyogre via Toxic poison over longer games. Although Dragon Dance Zygarde is best on balance and bulky offense teams due to its Terastallization reliance and its overall lack of immediate power without it, Zygarde can still be used on hyper offense teams that want to utilize Extreme Killer Arceus over Arceus-Ground. Dedicated leads such as Deoxys-S and Glimmora can help wear down checks such as opposing Zygarde and Arceus formes, similarly to Ferrothorn and defensive Primal Groudon. Grimmsnarl provides dual screens support, allowing Zygarde to set up on more threats such as offensive Primal Groudon, unboosted Mega Salamence, and Rayquaza.
