Moves
Focus Blast provides great neutral coverage alongside Psychic and Dazzling Gleam, being able to nail Steel- and Normal-types such as Pawniard and Bouffalant. Healing Wish allows Mr. Mime to bring back a weakened teammate, while Trick is an option to cripple switch-ins such as Bronzor, Lickilicky, and Dusclops.
Set Details
With a Choice Scarf, Mr. Mime is able to soft check threatening Pokemon such as Combusken, Silvally-Dragon, and Kadabra. Soundproof is used to check Chatot and to block Parting Shot from the various Silvally formes.
Usage Tips
Choice Scarf Mr. Mime needs to remain healthy enough to revenge kill offensive threats and setup sweepers such as Silvally-Dark, Nasty Plot Simisear, and Shell Smash Crustle. However, Mr. Mime generally fails to OHKO setup Pokemon such as these and can be OHKOed back, so do not rely solely on it to revenge kill setup sweepers. Be mindful of what Mr. Mime locks itself into, as there are usually multiple Pokemon able to pivot into it and threaten it out like Rapidash and Pawniard. In addition, Mr. Mime falls short of the crowded base 95 and higher Speed tiers. This means that opposing Choice Scarf users such as Electivire, Silvally, Swanna, and Rapidash and even cleaners such as Z-Celebrate Leafeon, Z-Me First Pinsir, and +2 Speed Combusken are able to outspeedand threaten it. Mr. Mime must also watch out for priority users such as Basculin, Kecleon, and Pawniard, since it has pitiful physical bulk and is usually locked into an attacking move. Also, avoid using Trick if Mr. Mime is still required for revenge killing. Similarly, use Healing Wish to generate momentum when Mr. Mime no longer serves a purpose and a teammate such as Shell Smash Crustle can use the opportunity to set up.
Team Options
Choice Scarf Mr. Mime fits best on offensive or balance teams that need a soft check to a variety of Pokemon such as Combusken, Silvally-Dragon, Mareanie, and Silvally-Dark. Wallbreakers such as Choice Band Komala, Swords Dance Bouffalant, and Z-Mirror Move Swanna appreciate Mr. Mime's ability to check faster Pokemon and provide Healing Wish support. These Pokemon can also break apart teams and pave the way for a late-game cleanup for Mr. Mime. Mr. Mime also pairs well with bulky Pokemon such as Poliwrath, Rotom-S, and Torterra that are able to switch into threats such as Silvally-Dark, Pinsir, and Golem. Entry hazard setters such as Marowak, Sandslash, and Corsola help chip away at Mr. Mime's checks. In addition, Marowak and Sandslash provide Knock Off support, and Corsola switches into notable special attackers such as Swanna and Glaceon that threaten Mr. Mime. Dark- and Fighting-types such as Silvally-Dark, Pawniard, Combusken, and Monferno make for great partners, as they are able to threaten Bronzor, Mawile, Lickilicky, and Komala, which wall Mr. Mime, and greatly appreciate Healing Wish support.
