Analysis

Thanks to its great special bulk, typing, and ability, Scraggy with Bulk Up acts as a special wall and a bulky setup sweeper at the same time, checking special attackers such as Girafarig, Drakloak, and Hisuian Sliggoo. Knock Off helps make progress by removing foes' items, making it easier for Scraggy's teammates to break through. Rest paired with Shed Skin provides a reliable recovery option thanks to Shed Skin curing Scraggy's status effects, giving it more opportunities to set up. Bulk Up Scraggy works best on bulky teams looking for a solid sweeper. Physical walls such as Koffing and Dusclops appreciate Scraggy's ability to check special attackers that switch in easily on them such as Hisuian Sliggoo, Girafarig, and Drakloak. Entry hazard setters that cannot break through Hattrem like Quilladin and Glimmet appreciate Scraggy coming in on Hattrem freely. Offensive Pokemon such as Drakloak, Piloswine, and Raboot each struggle against a different wall— Hisuian Sliggoo, Dunsparce, and Dusclops— making Scraggy a great partner, as it can set up on many walls with ease. Pokemon that cover Scraggy's Fighting weakness such as Koffing and Fletchinder are greatly appreciated; in return, Scraggy can take advantage of Glimmet for them. Encore users such as Quaxwell and Tinkatuff disrupt Scraggy by locking it into a move, so Pokemon that can break them, such as Drakloak for the former and Piloswine for the latter, will make good partners. Pokemon that prevent setup like Mareanie and Quilladin prevent Scraggy from sweeping, so Pokemon that can take advantage of them like Girafarig and Piloswine are appreciated. Ivysaur walls Scraggy, meaning that Pokemon like Quilladin and Hisuian Sliggoo that check it will pair well with Scraggy. Fletchinder deals with Scraggy thanks to its Flying-type, so Pokemon like Glimmet and Pikachu that can take advantage of it make great partners for Scraggy. Scraggy struggles with Fairy-type moves such as Play Rough from Tinkatuff and Dazzling Gleam from Girafarig, so switch-ins like Tinkatuff are appreciated.

Analysis

Scraggy is one NFE's scariest setup sweepers, with its typing, stats, and Dragon Dance allowing it to steamroll teams after a boost. At +1 Speed, it can outrun opposing attackers like Monferno, Thwackey, and Gabite. +1 High Jump Kick is able to accomplish feats like OHKOing Monferno, non-Eviolite Thwackey, and having reasonable odds of OHKOing Pignite after Stealth Rock. Drain Punch sacrifices these damage thresholds for additional recovery and a better safety net. Knock Off rattles Fighting-resistant and -immune walls like Ivysaur, Hattrem, and Drakloak. Taunt disrupts walls like Tinkatuff, Koffing, and Ivysaur looking to lock Scraggy into unfavorable moves or trying to recover their health. Shed Skin provides a luck-reliant safety net against status-reliant Pokemon like Dunsparce, Drakloak, and Dusclops, though Moxie can be used to make Scraggy even more frightening at late-game cleaning. A Jolly nature can be used over an Adamant nature to let Scraggy outspeed Raboot and Girafarig at +1 at the cost of sacrificing damage breakthroughs. This Scraggy set is best used on offensive and hyper offensive builds as a mid- or late-game cleaner. Wallbreakers like Fraxure, Pignite, and Monferno are able to pressure Scraggy into switching out, preventing it from sweeping early, so walls to these threats like Tinkatuff, Seadra, and Quaxwell can be good as fallback options. Poison-types like Koffing and Ivysaur can trade with Scraggy with relative ease via Neutralizing Gas and Knock Off, respectively, so Piloswine and Psychic-types like Girafarig and Hattrem can be good at forcing them out. While rare, Clefairy is able to stave off both of Scraggy's STAB moves and rapidly wear it down with Night Shade. Scraggy also appreciates having Thunder Wave and dual screens support from utility Pokemon like Morgrem and Drakloak to make its sweeping capabilities easier. Other setup sweepers and wallbreakers like Fraxure, Gabite, and Thwackey can collaborate to overwhelm shared checks to either make Scraggy's sweeping job easier or to take advantage of Scraggy's wallbreaking themselves. Fletchinder can be troublesome thanks to Flame Body and Brave Bird; checks to it like Quaxwell and Hisuian Sliggoo are appreciated.
