Toxicroak Movesets & Competitive Sets

Set Details Nasty Plot gives Toxicroak a better matchup against many Pokemon that beat its physical sets, such as Weezing, Quagsire, and Garbodor. Vacuum Wave picks off weakened offensive threats like Tauros, Heliolisk, and Inteleon. Life Orb's power is preferred to Black Sludge's longevity to lessen Toxicroak's need to boost, but the sustainability can be useful in staving off entry hazards damage and giving Toxicroak more leeway around foes like Weezing, Vileplume, and some Starmie. A Timid nature puts Toxicroak above Choice Band Passimian and lets it at-worst Speed tie with opposing Toxicroak and Duraludon. Pivots like Silvally-Ground, Inteleon, and Tsareena are good at positioning Toxicroak against setup fodder such as Weezing, Vaporeon, and Vileplume. Toxicroak also requires teammates that can check revenge killers to it like Psyshock Starmie, Talonflame, and Salazzle; Pokemon like Stakataka and Mantine suffice for this, with the former's Stealth Rock guaranteeing Toxicroak's +2 Sludge Bomb OHKOes Decidueye and Dhelmise. Talonflame, as well as Mantine, can also be dealt with by removing their Heavy-Duty Boots with Knock Off users like Escavalier and Passimian. This makes it much riskier for them to switch in if Stealth Rock is up.

Set Details +2 Low Kick has a solid chance to OHKO Mudsdale after Stealth Rock, but Drain Punch helps against Gastrodon and helps offset Life Orb recoil. Sucker Punch helps Toxicroak sweep against more offensive teams and threatens frail revenge killers such as Salazzle and Starmie, but Knock Off can cripple potential answers like Mudsdale and Talonflame for the rest of the game, while Earthquake will KO Poison-types like Salazzle and Garbodor that resist both of its STAB attacks. An Adamant nature is preferred for the extra power boost while still allowing Toxicroak to outspeed Pokemon like Tyrantrum and Decidueye, but Jolly variants have the benefit of outspeeding Pokemon like offensive Braviary and at worst Speed tying with opposing Toxicroak and Duraludon. Toxicroak pairs best offensively with Pokemon that appreciate a consistent Vaporeon switch-in, such as Fire-types like Talonflame and Arcanine and Water-types like Inteleon and Starmie, all of which reliably bait in Vaporeon. On top of that, getting rid of Ground-types like Mudsdale and Palossand is key for letting Toxicroak sweep, so Grass-types like Dhelmise, Decidueye, and Rotom-C make great offensive teammates. Poison-types like Weezing and Garbodor can cause problems for Toxicroak, making Ground- and Steel-types like Golurk, Mudsdale, and Stakataka helpful partners. Defensively, Toxicroak appreciates switch-ins to Fire-types, making Rock- and Water-types like Diancie and Vaporeon fantastic partners. Toxicroak also pairs well with Ground-immune Pokemon such as Talonflame, Xatu, and Rotom-C. Steel-types like Copperajah, Stakataka, and Silvally-Steel check Galarian Articuno, a consistent revenge killer.

Moves Gunk Shot allows Toxicroak to successfully remove setup sweepers like Virizion. Low Kick is used over other Fighting-type STAB moves like Drain Punch because it's much stronger against the usual targets, mainly Rock-, Steel-, and Normal-types such as Tyrantrum, Registeel, and Snorlax. Earthquake is great for revenge killing Pokemon like Salazzle and opposing Toxicroak that resist Toxicroak's STAB moves. Knock Off is great for crippling defensive switch-ins like Porygon2 and Bronzong and helps Toxicroak revenge kill Ghost- and Psychic-types like Mismagius and Sigilyph. Set Details Choice Scarf allows Toxicroak to revenge kill setup Pokemon like Drapion and Virizion. Dry Skin with Toxicroak's Poison / Fighting typing allows it to counter Pokemon like Araquanid and completely stop Pokemon like Toxic Mantine. Usage Tips Choice Scarf Toxicroak's main use is to revenge kill Pokemon, so use it to force out setup Pokemon like Salazzle. Toxicroak can be used to clean up weakened teams late-game as well. While other Choice Scarf users like Gardevoir have utility like Healing Wish, one of Choice Scarf Toxicroak's main advantages is its unique defensive typing that gives it the ability to act as a one- or two-time switch-in to many setup Pokemon such as Virizion, so make use of it to do so. As with every Choice item Pokemon, be cautious when using Toxicroak, as using a certain move might leave it vulnerable to opposing setup sweepers. For example, revenge killing a Virizion with Gunk Shot gives other setup Pokemon such as Barbaracle free rein to set up and sweep. Team Options Wallbreakers work great with Toxicroak, breaking down Pokemon that stand in the way of a late-game sweep with it. Thus, Pokemon such as Choice Band Metagross, Choice Band Tyrantrum, Choice Band Zygarde-10%, and Choice Specs Gardevoir as well as setup Pokemon such as Ninetales, Raikou, and Mega Abomasnow are good teammates. While a Choice Scarf allows Toxicroak to outpace the entire unboosted tier, it fails to beat Speed-boosting setup sweepers such as Zygarde-10% and Barbaracle, so make sure you have other ways to revenge kill them such as priority from Pokemon like Golisopod and niche Sturdy Pokemon like Sawk.

Moves Swords Dance boosts Toxicroak's Attack stat, letting it remove walls such as Milotic. Gunk Shot is Toxicroak's hardest-hitting STAB attack and lets Toxicroak break down defensive Pokemon and heavily dent offensive checks such as Noivern if they try to switch directly into it. Drain Punch improves Toxicroak's longevity and allows it to more freely set up on walls like Registeel, since it'll be able to heal off any damage taken. Sucker Punch, when boosted, is great for removing revenge killers such as Sigilyph and Choice Scarf Gardevoir. Set Details Life Orb allows Toxicroak to increase its damage output at the cost of slight recoil. Dry Skin lets Toxicroak capitalize on its unique defensive typing by countering Pokemon like Golisopod lacking Drill Run and Araquanid. Poisonium Z lets Toxicroak dismantle defensive Pokemon like Slowbro and Cresselia more easily, as Acid Downpour will almost always OHKO both of them after Stealth Rock damage, whereas Life Orb sets have to chip them down or fish for poison with Gunk Shot to remove them at +2. However, this cuts into Toxicroak's matchup against more offensive teams, as without Life Orb, its Sucker Punch will be extremely underwhelming. Darkinium Z works similarly to Poisonium Z, mainly removing Bronzong but also dealing with Slowbro and Cresselia. However, Toxicroak then struggles to deal with Brave Bird Mandibuzz, something Poisonium Z sets excel at. Usage Tips Set up early-game against balance teams on passive defensive Pokemon like Registeel and bulky Water-types like Milotic and break down defensive cores to make it easier for setup sweepers or even Choice Scarf Pokemon to clean up opposing teams. However, against more offensive teams, Sucker Punch Toxicroak has the potential to sweep late-game, so keep in mind that it might be more advantageous to go that route instead. Make sure that opposing means of defensive counterplay are sufficiently chipped before trying to set up and wallbreak, especially when running a Life Orb set. For example, if the opposing team has a Cresselia, don't bother to set up. Instead, aim to poison it with Gunk Shot or focus on chipping it down with other means like Toxic and Stealth Rock from teammates before using Swords Dance. Although Toxicroak's main role is as a sweeper, it can still capitalize on its unique defensive typing to check Pokemon like Virizion and Araquanid. Also, when running a Z-Move, keep in mind that you can bluff a Choice Scarf set, so use that to set up on forced switches. Team Options Pokemon that appreciate Toxicroak's ability to beat Water-types and break defensive cores work well with it. For example, late-game setup sweepers like Agility Metagross work well with it. Grass-types such as Shaymin work well with Toxicroak, as they appreciate its ability to break down Steel-types and take down Ground-types like Donphan and Gastrodon for it. Chip damage found in forms such as Toxic and Stealth Rock is key for chipping defensive Pokemon like Slowbro, Cresselia, and Mandibuzz into range of Toxicroak's boosted attacks, so pairing it with teammates like Registeel and Toxic Metagross is beneficial. Other Fighting-types like Machamp and Virizion can be paired with Toxicroak, working as a wallbreaking core that wears down their checks together.

Moves Nasty Plot boosts Toxicroak's Special Attack, which helps it beat some defensive Pokemon. Sludge Bomb is a strong, reliable STAB move that has a nice 30% poison chance, which can be used to wear down Toxicroak's checks and counters. Sludge Wave is slightly stronger, but it only has a 10% chance of poisoning. Vacuum Wave is mainly used for its priority, preventing Pokemon such as Hydreigon and Krookodile from checking this set reliably. Dark Pulse hits Psychic- and Ghost-type Pokemon that either are bulky enough to easily handle Toxicroak's STAB moves or are immune to them, such as Cresselia, Reuniclus, and Doublade; however, the former easily survives a +2 Dark Pulse if healthy. Hidden Power Ice allows Toxicroak to break through Gligar and Nidoqueen, which resist both of its STAB types and are bulky enough to handle Dark Pulse. Focus Blast is by far Toxicroak's strongest move; at +2, it OHKOes Swampert, Porygon2, Snorlax, and even Blissey after Stealth Rock damage and does massive damage to anything that doesn't resist it. However, its low accuracy makes it fairly unreliable, and Toxicroak lacks the bulk to reliably deal with misses. Set Details The EVs maximize Toxicroak's Special Attack and Speed. A Timid nature is necessary to outspeed Chandelure and Speed tie with Nidoking, Heracross, and offensive Suicune. However, if you aren't worried about those Pokemon, a Modest nature can be used to boost Toxicroak's power. Life Orb's boost helps Toxicroak break through defensive Pokemon such as Reuniclus and Snorlax, but Black Sludge can be used to increase its longevity. Usage Tips The main purpose of this set is wallbreaking; however, considering Swords Dance sets are significantly more common, this Toxicroak set can be used as a lure for Doublade, Reuniclus, or physical walls in general. Analyzing the opponent's team during Team Preview is important, as this allows you to find setup opportunities for Toxicroak and helps you decide how to proceed. Toxicroak can set up on most defensive bulky Water-type Pokemon and Umbreon for free, and if played carefully, it can set up on offensive Water-types too. Additionally, Toxicroak can scare away Pokemon such as Florges, Chesnaught, and Mamoswine to create opportunities to set up. Using Sludge Bomb without setting up to wear down some of Toxicroak's counters, such as Cresselia, can help it sweep later on. Team Options Stealth Rock helps Toxicroak break through the opponent's team and wears down some of its checks, such as Crobat. Swampert, Krookodile, and Bronzong can set up Stealth Rock to support Toxicroak, can deal with some of its checks, such as Crobat, Cresselia, and Mega Aerodactyl, and appreciate Toxicroak's immunity to Scald. Sticky Web support reduces the risk of running a Modest nature and makes it easier for Toxicroak to drop Vacuum Wave for Focus Blast. Fighting-type Pokemon, such as Lucario and Mienshao, can work alongside Toxicroak, as they can take advantage of its ability to wear down or beat Pokemon such as Doublade, Reuniclus, and Cresselia. Infernape and Darmanitan are good teammates for Toxicroak, because they usually lure in Water-types and they both learn U-turn, allowing them to create chances for Toxicroak to safely switch in and set up or to weaken some of its most important checks.

Moves Swords Dance boosts Toxicroak's Attack to decent levels, which is necessary to break through defensive cores. Drain Punch is the main attacking move of this set, because when it is combined with the bulk investment and Swords Dance, Toxicroak's longevity increases drastically. Gunk Shot is Toxicroak's secondary STAB move and its strongest move. Sucker Punch is for priority, which is extremely important on a set as slow as this one. Alternatively, Ice Punch allows Toxicroak to beat Gligar and punish Pokemon such as Nidoqueen trying to switch in for free, while Knock Off is good against Pokemon such as Doublade, Cresselia, and Reuniclus and allows Toxicroak to cripple most of the Pokemon that switch into it. Set Details The given EVs maximize Toxicroak's Attack and give it a good amount of bulk. The HP investment drastically improves Toxicroak's ability to deal with or switch into certain Pokemon, such as offensive Suicune, Mega Blastoise, Mega Sharpedo, Feraligatr, and Florges. Additionally, the increased bulk combined with Drain Punch and Swords Dance makes it really hard for some passive teams to defeat Toxicroak. An EV spread with more Speed investment in order to outspeed specific threats, such as Gligar, Cresselia, and Nidoqueen, can be used, but it's not advised to invest too many EVs in that stat, because this set needs the bulk to work properly. Should Speed be an issue, you're better off using an offensive Swords Dance set. Usage Tips This set might be called Bulky Croak, but even with the HP investment, Toxicroak is relatively frail. However, this set works because of Toxicroak's unique set of resistances, ability to remove Toxic Spikes, and Dry Skin. This set should be used mainly in offensive teams that need help dealing with threats such as Suicune and Mega Sharpedo. Bulky Croak has significantly more longevity than other sets, which is important because as long as Toxicroak has not fainted, it'll passively threaten the opponent's team by deterring them from using Water-type moves recklessly. Gunk Shot or Knock Off can be used without setting up to wear down some of Toxicroak's checks and counters, such as Cresselia and Swampert. Team Options A significant number of Toxicroak's checks and counters are weak to Stealth Rock, so Pokemon that can set it up, such as Mamoswine and Swampert, are good teammates. This set struggles against Ground-type Pokemon, so running Pokemon that can play around them to help Toxicroak, such as Hydreigon and Whimsicott, is advised. Most sweepers threatened by Scald or Water-type moves work well alongside Toxicroak, as they can take advantage of its ability to deal with some Water-type Pokemon and deter the opponent from using Scald as long as it has not fainted. Some of these sweepers are Mega Swampert, Lucario, and Mega Sharpedo.

Earthquake can be used, as it covers both Doublade and Nidoqueen and OHKOes defensive Arcanine at +2. Set Details The EVs maximize Toxicroak's Attack and Speed. A Jolly nature is necessary to outspeed Chandelure and Mamoswine and Speed tie with Nidoking, Heracross, and offensive Suicune. However, an Adamant nature can be used to hit significantly harder, but it also makes Toxicroak significantly easier to revenge kill. Toxicroak needs Life Orb's power boost to help it break through some walls, but Black Sludge can be used for slightly more longevity. Usage Tips This set should be used mainly as a wallbreaker. Analyzing the opponent's team during Team Preview is important, as this allows you to find setup opportunities for Toxicroak and helps you decide how to proceed. Toxicroak can set up on most defensive bulky Water-type Pokemon for free, as well as on offensive variants as long as it is healthy and doesn't switch directly into their coverage moves. Additionally, Toxicroak can scare away Pokemon such as Florges, Chesnaught, and Mamoswine to create opportunities to set up. Using Gunk Shot or Knock Off without setting up to wear down some of Toxicroak's counters, such as Cresselia and Swampert, can help it sweep later on. Team Options Stealth Rock helps Toxicroak wear down the opponent's team, and a good portion of its checks are weak to it. Swampert, Krookodile, and Bronzong make for good setters and can deal with some of Toxicroak's checks, such as Crobat, Cresselia, and Mega Aerodactyl, and they appreciate Toxicroak's immunity to Scald. Sticky Web support makes running an Adamant nature and using a coverage move over Sucker Punch on Toxicroak less risky. Hydreigon can deal with some of Toxicroak's checks and counters, such as Swampert, Reuniclus, and Doublade, and Toxicroak threatens some of Hydreigon's checks, which can be taken advantage of with double switches or U-turn. Infernape and Darmanitan are good teammates for Toxicroak, because they usually lure in Water-types and they both learn U-turn, allowing them to create chances for Toxicroak to safely switch in and set up or to weaken some of its most important checks. Whimsicott is a good teammate for Toxicroak, because it checks Dragon-type Pokemon, Swampert, and Krookodile and can use Stun Spore to cripple some of the checks it shares with Toxicroak, such as Crobat and Mega Aerodactyl.

Moves Sucker Punch complements Drain Punch nicely, providing almost unresisted neutral coverage, good Base Power, and priority, preventing Toxicroak from getting revenge killed by faster threats, including Latios, Starmie, and Alakazam. Ice Punch covers the few threats that the other attacking moves don't, maiming Gliscor, Landorus-T, Garchomp, Dragonite, and Hippowdon. Set Details The Speed EVs allow Toxicroak to outspeed Jolly Breloom, and the rest are thrown into Attack and HP. An Adamant nature is usually the better option, as both Toxicroak's Attack stat and the Base Power of its STAB move leaves something to be desired, and Sucker Punch helps against many faster Pokemon anyway. However, with a Jolly nature, Toxicroak outspeeds Jolly Mamoswine and Timid Heatran, both of which are important targets that could otherwise OHKO Toxicroak. Team Options Toxicroak should always be used on rain teams, so Politoed is an obligatory teammate. Stealth Rock and Spikes support are useful for Toxicroak, as with them on the field it can secure the OHKO or 2HKO on various threats after a boost, including Choice Scarf Politoed and Volcarona with Sucker Punch; 252 HP Jirachi and Volcarona with Drain Punch; and Gyarados with Ice Punch. Ferrothorn is an excellent partner that can set up both entry hazards and switch into many Pokemon that Toxicroak struggles against such as Hippowdon, Gyarados, Garchomp, and Kyurem-B. Celebi also has good defensive synergy with Toxicroak, sets up Stealth Rock, and takes care of Hippowdon and Gyarados with a specially defensive set. Offensive Starmie and Choice Scarf Keldeo are able to outspeed and KO almost everything that checks or walls Toxicroak, creating a very potent offensive duo. Generally, Swords Dance Toxicroak thrives on rain offense teams that need a way to handle Keldeo, Terrakion, Chansey, Blissey, Tentacruel, Breloom, and Ferrothorn, all Pokemon that Toxicroak can set up against easily.

The beauty of SubPunch Toxicroak is that the core moves work together so well; being behind a Substitute encourages your opponent to attack, making them susceptible to Sucker Punch. Whilst the set's lack of power makes it difficult to break full-blown stall, it is very useful against more balanced teams and bulky offense, as they commonly rely on Pokemon such as Altaria and Moltres to combat Fighting-types, who both fall prey to this set. Substitute minimizes the need for prediction, and somewhat makes up for Toxicroak's frailty by ensuring that he can get off at least one safe hit before being KOed. Toxicroak can get plenty of opportunities to set up a Substitute, mainly against Water-types such as Azumarill, Milotic, Ludicolo, and Kabutops, but he can also force switches with the threat of Sucker Punch against weakened opponents. Ice Punch is generally the more reliable move choice for the final slot, as it allows Toxicroak to OHKO all Altaria variants except the most physically defensive ones. It also hits Nidoqueen hard, and allows you to beat defensive Torterra that commonly switch into Toxicroak. However, it leaves you helpless against Moltres. Stone Edge allows Toxicroak to threaten Moltres, Altaria, and Scyther, all of which can easily survive the set's core attacks. SubPunch Toxicroak does appreciate rain support as it really helps him to recover health lost from Substitute. Mind games with Sucker Punch will allow Toxicroak to hide behind a Substitute for several turns, gradually recovering lost HP as your opponent tries to outpredict you. In turn, this allows Toxicroak to use a different item, such as Life Orb or Black Belt, whilst still recovering lost HP. This makes Toxicroak much more dangerous against defensive teams. However, it is not really advisable to set up rain for Toxicroak alone; there are other Pokemon, such as Ludicolo or Omastar, who gain much more from rain support. Toxicroak alone doesn't benefit enough from it to warrant setting it up. As previously noted, SubPunch Toxicroak works well against balanced and bulky offensive teams, luring out and crippling the likes of Moltres, Altaria, and Scyther. This makes Toxicroak an ideal partner for Pokemon who have trouble breaking down these threats; Blaziken, Scyther, and Hitmonlee are all good choices. Choice Specs Espeon works particularly well together with SubPunch Toxicroak, as with Trick, it can lock the likes of Registeel and Chansey into one move, making them much easier for Substitute Toxicroak to set up on. It can also dry-Baton Pass out to Toxicroak from these threats, giving it a free turn to Substitute. Being able to Trick a Choice item onto bulky Water-types is also invaluable, since even weak Ice Beams can break Toxicroak's Substitutes, locking them into one move makes setting up Toxicroak much easier. Moltres is also an excellent Pokemon to play together with Toxicroak. By luring in bulky Water-types and Chansey, it can U-turn straight to Toxicroak, forcing them out. Houndoom and Arcanine are also solid choices as they also lure Water-type Pokemon in, allowing a free switch-in for Toxicroak as the opposing Water-type uses a Water-type move. However, bear in mind that setting up on Chansey is all but impossible if your opponent knows your set, as they can just use Seismic Toss repeatedly, never giving you a chance to Focus Punch them.

Nasty Plot Toxicroak doesn't hit quite as hard as physically based Toxicroak, due to a considerably lower Special Attack stat and lower Base Power moves. However, he makes up for it with a STAB priority move and surprise factor, as most people would expect the more common physical-based sets. Sludge Bomb provides a more powerful secondary STAB attack to hit slower, bulkier opponents such as Milotic, Spiritomb, and some Moltres, as well as landing an OHKO on Tangrowth. What you choose for the last slot depends on the rest of your team and what you have problems breaking down defensively. Dark Pulse is a good choice for hitting Ghost-types such as Rotom, Dusclops, Claydol, and Mismagius hard, all of which wall the rest of the set. Focus Blast is another worthwhile option, as despite the low accuracy, it is Toxicroak's most powerful weapon against Regirock, Registeel, and Chansey, all of which shrug off anything else this set has to offer. A Timid nature ensures that Toxicroak outspeeds positive natured Venusaur and Blaziken. However, due to Toxicroak's mediocre Special Attack stat, using a Modest nature is not out of the question. Discounting the surprise factor, Nasty Plot Toxicroak is generally easier to counter than the Swords Dance set. However, once specific problem Pokemon have been eliminated from the picture, he can sweep very effectively. For this reason, it is generally more effective to play him late-game, when these specific checks have been removed or weakened. These Pokemon vary enormously depending on what move you run in the last slot -- Chansey, Registeel, Altaria, Moltres, Regirock, Nidoqueen, Muk, and Arcanine can all potentially stop a sweep depending on what coverage move you run, or if they are not sufficiently weakened. Most of these Pokemon dislike Stealth Rock, and as a result, it is important to set it up as soon as possible. As for potential teammates, Tangrowth makes an excellent partner, providing a vital Ground resistance and also being able to lure in the majority of these problem Pokemon, and can inflict status on them with Sleep Powder of Stun Spore or even weaken them enough to facilitate a Toxicroak sweep. Aggron can bulldoze through the aforementioned Pokemon, paving the way for Toxicroak to comfortably set up and attempt to sweep. Moltres can break down the aforementioned Pokemon bar Chansey while Pursuit users such as Spiritomb and Drapion can take out Psychic-types who threaten Toxicroak.

Swords Dance Toxicroak is a very useful late-game sweeper. While Toxicroak's poor defensive stats make getting into play difficult, the Water-type immunity granted by Dry Skin allows Toxicroak to come in on the likes of Milotic and Azumarill with relative impunity, giving him an opportunity to set up Swords Dance. Despite having several other notable resistances, namely Rock, Fighting, Bug, Dark, Poison, and Grass, such poor defenses make coming in on powerful STAB attacks from the likes of Venusaur, Rhyperior, and Hitmontop impractical. These resistances are very useful, however, for avoiding revenge kills. Toxicroak shrugs off Sucker Punches and Aqua Jets from Pokemon such as Azumarill and Absol thanks to handy resistances to almost all priority moves; however, Toxicroak needs to be wary of Fake Out from Ambipom, which does 49.03% - 57.79% from a Jolly Life Orb variant. In addition, Toxicroak's Swords Danced Sucker Punch is powerful enough to OHKO a large number of Pokemon who would otherwise outspeed and OHKO it first, such as Espeon, Alakazam, Swellow, and Sceptile. These two factors make Swords Dance Toxicroak very dangerous against offensive teams who are mostly dependent on revenge killing to deal with offensive threats. Low Kick is the primary option in the second moveslot, as it hits quite a few common Pokemon for more damage than Cross Chop, such as Registeel, Torterra, and Milotic. Furthermore, despite Cross Chop producing consistent damage output, its accuracy is definitely not attractive. Sucker Punch hits a large number of important Pokemon who resist Toxicroak's STAB Cross Chop--most notably, Slowbro, Claydol, and Uxie. Spiritomb is also hit hard by Sucker Punch and is 2HKOed after a Swords Dance. While Ice Punch ensures that foes such as Altaria and Torterra are disposed of, Taunt can prevent Toxicroak from getting afflicted with status whilst setting up Swords Dance. Swords Dance Toxicroak has difficulty getting past Weezing, Nidoqueen, and Substitute Mismagius. Venusaur and Rotom can cause problems as well if they are faster than Toxicroak. Generally, all of the aforementioned Pokemon will have to be eliminated or at least weakened before attempting to sweep, and so it is generally advisable to carry some way of eliminating these Pokemon in your team. Offensive Life Orb Milotic makes a fine choice--it commonly lures in Venusaur, Mismagius, and occasionally Rotom, and can deal heavy damage to all of them with Ice Beam or Hydro Pump. It can also come in on Weezing's predictable Will-O-Wisps to activate Marvel Scale, and easily forces Nidoqueen out. Furthermore, Toxicroak makes an excellent switch into the three Pokemon who cause offensive Milotic the most problems, namely Chansey, opposing Milotic, and Ludicolo. Speaking of Ludicolo, it also partners very well with Toxicroak by luring in Venusaur easily and doing up to 85% with a Life Orb Ice Beam, while also forcing switches into Chansey to give Toxicroak opportunities to set up. Furthermore, it commonly carries Rain Dance, which recovers some of Toxicroak's health each turn it is in play, ensuring that Life Orb recoil doesn't get the better of Toxicroak. Both Uxie and Mesprit have a handy immunity to Ground-type moves and can set up Stealth Rock as well as cripple opposing Pokemon with Thunder Wave or Yawn, thereby easing the pressure when Toxicroak attempts to sweep.
