Moves Stealth Rock is an essential move for any team, and Bronzor is decent user of the move thanks to its ability to set it up on a multitude of threats such as Jynx, Steelix, and Rhydon. Psywave is Bronzor's best move at dealing damage, though it's inconsistent, as it deals anywhere between 50 and 150 HP. Toxic is useful for letting Bronzor beat Musharna and Rhydon one-on-one and gives it a means to cripple Fire- and Dark-type switch-ins with the exception of Skuntank and Malamar. Rest gives Bronzor a way to recover off damage sustained, letting it continually pivot into the Pokemon it needs to, as well as allowing it to outlast the likes of Musharna and Steelix. Skill Swap is an alternative that lets Bronzor set up Stealth Rock versus Xatu as well as be able to cripple it with Toxic. Set Details The given EV spread maximizes Bronzor's special bulk, allowing it to switch into the likes of Mesprit, Vivillon, Aurorus, Swellow, and Jynx with ease. Bronzor usually doesn't need Defense EVs as it already avoids 3HKOs from physical attackers that can't hit it hard enough, such as most Tauros and Archeops, while Bronzor shouldn't stay in against physical attackers that can, such as Knock Off users like Hariyama and Shiftry, or setup sweepers such as Samurott and Barbaracle. Levitate is crucial for the Ground immunity, increasing the number of Pokemon Bronzor is able to wall. Eviolite is used to further increase Bronzor's already substantial bulk. Usage Tips Use Bronzor's typing to pivot into Pokemon such as Jynx, Mesprit, Rhydon, Steelix, and Tauros, and set up Stealth Rock. If Stealth Rock is already set up, throw out a Toxic or a Psywave depending on the circumstances. Also be sure to not directly switch into Jynx until a teammate is put to sleep. Though switching into Jynx and Mesprit is generally safe, try to watch out for Trick from either of them, as being tricked a Choice item completely neuters Bronzor. Be wary of Pursuit trappers such as Skuntank and Liepard, especially the former, as it completely walls Bronzor. Against Liepard, either double switch to a teammate that can take it on, or hit it with Toxic on the switch to put it on a timer. There's also the possibility that Skuntank may be special, meaning it's not nearly as much of a threat to Bronzor, so try to figure out what set it may be from looking at Team Preview. Once Bronzor is low on HP, use Rest to bring it back to full; just be aware that Bronzor will be passive during the two turns it is asleep and thus can be setup fodder or a free opportunity to switch in for dangerous Pokemon. Without Skill Swap, generally avoid using any status move if Xatu is in Team Preview, as Bronzor does not have the means of breaking through it. However, if Skill Swap is being used, it is best to use it on the switch so that it lets Bronzor force out Xatu in fear of Toxic and grants the opportunity to set up Stealth Rock. Keep in mind that on stall teams, Bronzor does not have to be played nearly as aggressively. Team Options Bronzor best fits on stall teams, as they do not mind its passive nature and can easily account for its flaws. Sliggoo and Altaria are particularly effective partners due to their ability to freely switch into Fire-types such as Magmortar and Pyroar, while Bronzor is able to switch in on Pokemon such as Jynx, Abomasnow, and Aurorus, all Pokemon that prey on their Ice weaknesses. Poison-types such as Skuntank and Weezing switch into Dark-types reasonably well, and both provide some extra utility with Pursuit and Toxic Spikes, respectively. Weezing also walls Pursuit Skuntank and takes pressure off Bronzor by crippling physical attackers such as Rhydon and Tauros with Will-O-Wisp. Mega Audino provides Wish support so that Bronzor is less dependent on Rest to restore lost HP or is able to wake it up with Heal Bell. It also is a great switch-in to all Dark-types barring Skuntank. Bronzor can also work on balanced teams as long as the team can account for its passivity. Fighting-types such as Gurdurr and Hariyama are great teammates for their ability to take hits from Dark-types and KO them back. Hariyama also switches into Magmortar and non-Will-O-Wisp Pyroar, both Pokemon that fear little from Bronzor and deal heavy damage if not accounted for otherwise. In return, Bronzor switches into the likes of Mesprit, Jynx, and Vivillon with near-impunity. Swords Dance Samurott is able to revenge kill Magmortar and Pyroar, while Bronzor acts a good switch for Grass-types such as Lilligant, Vileplume, and Ferroseed, all of which are capable of stopping Samurott from sweeping the opposition. Liepard and Skuntank are able to Pursuit trap the likes of Rotom and Mismagius, both of which can wear down Bronzor with burns and hit it with a full-powered Hex while it is asleep.

Moves Stealth Rock is a necessity for every team, and Bronzor's fantastic bulk combined with good typing makes it a reliable Stealth Rock setter that is usually able to set the hazard multiple times if required. Psywave is used to deal direct damage, between 50 HP and 150 HP, making it tougher for Pokemon such as Rotom-F and Grumpig to take advantage of Bronzor and use it as setup fodder. Toxic is used to catch Pokemon that may try to switch in and take advantage of Bronzor's passivity while also generally wearing down defensive Pokemon. Rest gives Bronzor a somewhat reliable means of recovery, although it makes it vulnerable for the two turns that it is asleep. Set Details Maximum HP with heavy Defense investment enables Bronzor to act as a reliable physical wall, dealing with Pokemon such as Muk, Stoutland, and Bouffalant. 112 Special Defense investment buffers Bronzor when facing special attackers such as Mr. Mime and lets it avoid the 3HKO from Grumpig's Shadow Ball and +6 Clefairy's Moonblast. Levitate is Bronzor's ability of choice, granting it a value Ground immunity and setting it apart from Metang. Usage Tips Bronzor is used mainly to check physical threats such as Golem, Mawile, and Muk. Bring Bronzor in against these Pokemon, and proceed to set up Stealth Rock or spread status via Toxic. While getting up Stealth Rock will often be the first priority, if a powerful wallbreaker or boosting threat such as Cacturne or Gorebyss is threatening to switch in on Bronzor, don't be afraid to try to Toxic it as it switches in to wear it down; Bronzor can always set Stealth Rock at a later stage in the battle. Another thing to keep in mind is that Bronzor's low Speed stat means that it will almost always be moving second; this is relevant because if Bronzor wants to recover with Rest, it must do so earlier rather than later to avoid being outsped and KOed on the turn it tries to recover. Team Options With Bronzor being incapacitated for two turns once it clicks Rest, a reliable cleric such as Audino, Altaria, or Clefairy is often a good start when looking for teammates. It is usually easy to fit one or even two of these Pokemon alongside Bronzor due to the fact that they share great defensive synergy. Altaria deals with Knock Off users such as Leafeon and Pawniard, while Audino and Clefairy handle powerful special attackers such as Floatzel and Cacturne. Muk is another Pokemon that pairs well with Bronzor, as Bronzor can soak up attacks from Ground-types such as Golem and Gabite, while Muk can easily handle special attackers such as Rotom-F, Combusken, and Cacturne. Pelipper is another good partner, able to act as somewhat of a reliable Knock Off sponge, while also dealing with threatening Fire-types such as Monferno and Combusken.

Bronzor is a premier physical wall that can take on the likes of Furfrou, Gigalith, and Swalot with its phenomenal stats, support movepool, and great defensive typing paired with Levitate. Psywave is a great move to help Bronzor not be so passive against Toxic-immune targets like Klang, Ivysaur, and Lairon. Bronzor walls so many Pokemon that it often finds a free opportunity to set up Stealth Rock for its teammates. Rest is the only form of recovery that Bronzor can run, but it works well enough because of its previously discussed longevity. Bronzor works best when it can keep Eviolite, so it appreciates the likes of Swalot and Wigglytuff, which work well as Knock Off absorbers. Bronzor can easily handle the top Rock-types in the tier, Gigalith and Lairon, which partners like Dustox, Persian, and Jumpluff really appreciate. Pignite and Magmar pose a serious threat to Bronzor, so teammates like Politoed and Carbink are great to bring alongside Bronzor to alleviate this issue. Dark-types like Krokorok, Mightyena, and Scraggy are even scarier, since they are immune to Psywave, and Krokorok can even Pursuit trap Bronzor. Bulk Up Scraggy in particular completely walls Bronzor, since it can heal off Toxic with Shed Skin, so Meganium and Wigglytuff are good teammates, as they do well at stopping these Dark-types in their tracks. These same Dark-types also make for great teammates to help take on Duosion, which can use Bronzor as setup fodder. Grass-types like Servine and Simisage love having Bronzor around to take on Swalot and Dustox.

Bronzor possesses the great ability to wall both sides of the offensive spectrum, with Calm Mind patching up its lacking Special Defense. Luckily, with its typing and Levitate, Bronzor usually finds no trouble setting up on common Pokemon such as Golurk, Piloswine, and Kangaskhan. It also makes Bronzor immune to Spikes and Toxic Spikes and gives it a resistance to Stealth Rock, allowing it to switch in very often. Flash Cannon is the preferred STAB attack because of its safer coverage with all of the Dark-type Pokemon rampant in NU, but it won't do much damage unless Bronzor has acquired many boosts. Rest is the only recovery move it can learn, but luckily Bronzor's bulk is good enough that it can take multiple hits easily after setting up. Toxic is the better choice for the last moveslot, as even at +6, Bronzor's weak Special Attack keeps it from doing much damage to most bulky Pokemon. Sleep Talk can be used instead of Toxic so that it fares better against setup sweepers; with this, however, Toxic Spikes support is necessary and Bronzor misses out on poisoning Flying-types and Pokemon with Levitate. Although Flash Cannon is the preferred STAB, if extra coverage suits you when facing Charizard, Water-types, and Electric-types, Psychic could be used instead, but a strong Fighting-type partner, such as Sawk, would be needed to eliminate the Dark-types that would wall Bronzor, and those Pokemon take away from the stall playstyle where Bronzor thrives. If Sleep Talk is used, Roselia or Garbodor is the best partner for setting up Toxic Spikes. With Rest, a cleric such as Audino or Misdreavus is highly recommended to wake it up. Bronzor will also need a Pokemon to take any immediate special attacks threatening it; Zweilous can take all of the Fire, Water, and Electric attacks that could break through Bronzor before it boosts.

Psywave is Bronzor's only way to do any considerable damage despite its significant unreliability. Toxic builds up chip damage against common foes that can't quickly KO Bronzor such as Torterra and deters Pokemon like Beheeyem from setting up. Rest is a somewhat reliable healing move because many Pokemon fail to 2HKO Bronzor. Stealth Rock is usually preferred for the fourth moveslot, as Bronzor is one of the most reliable setters of it. Alternatively, Sleep Talk helps with Bronzor's passiveness while it's asleep from Rest, but it should only be used on teams with another Stealth Rock setter. The EVs make sure that Bronzor cannot be 2HKOed by a Thunderbolt + Overheat combination from Magnet Zebstrika after Stealth Rock. An alternative EV spread of 252 HP / 68 Def / 188 SpD with a Calm nature can be used to avoid the aforementioned move combination from Fire Gem Zebstrika, but the significant loss of physical bulk can be costly. Levitate is always chosen as the ability, as avoiding Spikes damage is crucial to keeping Bronzor healthy enough to tank the plethora of hits it is expected to take. Bronzor is weak to Fire-type attacks from the likes of Monferno and Simisear, so Pokemon that resist them such as Frillish and Tentacool make for good partners. Bronzor has a ton of useful resistances to high-value types, such as Ground, Flying, Grass, Psychic, and Ice. These resistances are heavily appreciated by Pokemon that are weak to them such as Stunfisk, Scraggy, Frillish, Machoke, and Zweilous. Clerics, such as Audino and Jumpluff, are excellent for helping Bronzor stay healthy by getting rid of sleep from Rest. Bronzor's passiveness tends to bring in setup threats like Scraggy and Duosion, so teammates like Encore Jumpluff and Roar Zweilous that can shut down those threats are also appreciated. As a final note, Bronzor is a rare Normal-resistant Pokemon that is not weak to Fighting-type moves, making it one of the better switch-ins to Stoutland and therefore a mainstay on bulkier teams.
